ICS Root without flashing kernel or having recovery? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My friend has an S2 he wants me to root, and I'm having trouble.
I've tried the one click method from windows computers though they don't seem to work as he is on ICS.
The ICS alternative says reboot to recovery etc, though obviously he doesn't have recovery so I can't do that either.
Of course I'm going to be told to root it via flashing, though while following the guide, the phone soft-bricked and wouldn't turn on (yellow triangle) though luckily I found the Orange UK Restore Package and now it's back to stock!
When I tried to flash it said use the most similar kernel you can find, and so I did, and it didn't work!
The kernel he has is I9100PBVLP6 and there was not an insecure kernel of that available.
Can anyone help?

Your friend has the UK Orange NFC phone. Use LP7 Insecure kernel.
http://download.chainfire.eu/158/CF-Root/SGS2/CF-Root-SGS2_XW_XEN_LP7-v5.4-CWM5.zip?retrieve_file=1
You will have the yellow triangle after flashing and your binary flash counter would have increased by 1.
You can use triangle away to remove the symbol and reset the flash counter to zero.
Or have a look at the Root/Unroot guide in my signature.

That's brilliant! Thanks so much. I'll have to convince him to let me now. He doesn't want me going near his phone again haha

If your friend now doesn't want you to go to near his phone, let him root it himself or live with it the way it is.
Statements like "he obviously doesn't have recovery" when he obviously does lead me to believe you'll only damage his phone anyway.

So I just flash this under PDA? Will this give just root and no recovery?

Why does he obviously have recovery? His phone is exactly how he got it. Unless they give you recovery now? I used to have a Spica (piece of crap) which I had to root in order to get recovery onto it. And he has no idea how to root and his phone is being slow and crashes a lot, so he wants to make it better, I told him a custom ROM would help.

All new or old S2s should have recovery albeit stock 3e recovery," if they have not installed another recovery ". Try it!
Power down. Then at the same time press:- volume up/home button/power button.

Head over to here: http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3&t=1&o=1&m=GT-I9100&r=1#regiona, & find the specific firmware for your friends device & flash in PDA via Odin! (no need to find a seperate kernel to flash, as it will be included in the official firmware package!)
At this point you'll have no yellow triangle on your boot up splash screen, & no flash count!
Then head over to here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1501719 & root the device using the instructions given! (you'll need an external sd-card in your device to put the files on for rooting!)
Still no yellow triangle on boot splash screen, & also no extra flash count!
Finally, install Triangle Away from here "IF NEEDED": https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.triangleaway&hl=en, & "MAKE SURE" it gives the exact same flash count number as is in download mode, then click "Reset Counter".
Job done, official stock firmware with root (fast, stable & reliable!) with no yellow triangle or flash count visible!

What Samsung official firmware site? Even if such a thing existed why would the custom binary counter go up? Think about it. Also, OP already made it clear he's incapable of following those root instructions, as he apparently (and obviously) doesn't have recovery.

2: As I mentioned in my (helpfull!) post, the method I directed him to uses temporary "Touch CWM Recovery" for him to get into to root!
3: The method he tried was the oneclick method! That's not the method I directed him to! (try reading the post properly before commenting, as you've so graciously pointed out to me in the past!)

You's da man, whoop whoop!

yellow triangle as far as I know= binary counter gone up!
Apart from using a jig, for which he'd also have to flash an older bootloader coz the phone's on ICS & it wouldn't work otherwise, what would you suggest to reset it?
Not false information I'm giving m8, just trying to be helpfull, & I can't see in what I originally posted how I wasn't trying to be helpfull really!? But you obviously can

[ROOT/UNROOT/Custom Recoveries/Kernels/Roms] AT&T Galaxy Note ONLY!/ No Flash Counter
THIS IS A GINGERBREAD ROOTING METHOD, FOR WHEN YOU FIRST GET THE PHONE OUT OF THE BOX, THIS WILL NOT WORK WITH NEW OFFICIAL ICS.
This method is for people that have a AT&TGalaxy Note only and want to have root in the stock rom without tripping the flash counter only, For everything else look at the bottom of the first post!!
If you want root to flash a custom rom/kernel/CWM and you don't care about the flash counter and the warranty then this is not for you.
Go here for other root! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1504218
Now I went ahead and put the files together in one zip to make it simpler, it contains the root zip, the odin and the samsung usb drivers, all the files needed in one download .
DOWNLOAD: Big File: 532mb in size
http://goo.gl/aq2Wl
After the download follow this steps made by capite.
Extract Odin but don't launch it, run the samsung drivers for your phone on the PC and install it. Then plug in your phone to make sure it works -- it seems to take a while to get everything working. If you get an error, try rebooting and try again. Also, try using the cable that came with your phone -- 3d party cables don't always seem to work. If it still doesn't work, try another USB port.
1. Turn off your phone and uplug it. Take the battery out of your phone, put it back in, and hold the volume down button and power button at the same time. Keep them held down until the phone starts buzzing and you see the Samsung name.
2. At this point you are either in download mode or the phone will tell you to hit volume up, at which point you'll be ready.
3. Run Odin on your PC -- right click and choose "Run as Administrator" just to be safe.
4. Plug your phone into your PC.
5. In the Odin screen, wait until one of the top boxes turns yellow and displays some numbers.
6. UNCHECK all the boxes except for Auto Reboot.
7. Hit the PDA button and navigate to mashi's file that you unzipped.
8. Hit start
9. wait until your phone reboots.
10. If it didn't work, try rebooting and starting from scratch.
11. verify super user app now present. Update super user app (optional).
If you want to go back to unrooted, download this .tar file and flash thru odin! http://goo.gl/BBdow
Thanks to Da_G !
Flashing back to stock thru odin by using the stock tar in case of brick will increase the flash counter.
Enjoy and hit the thanks button if it helps you.

i believe this method replaces the entire system partition so he will lose stuff like nfc. once cwm is working fully I'm sure someone will create a flashable zip that just adds root without replacing the whole partition.

Not sure how it's done, but the entire stock rom including nfc service 2.3.6 is still intact. There is nothing missing or unusable from the original LA1 rom. Also since there is no hard reset, user data isn't affected. Again, we need mashi or someone far smarter than me to tell us exactly how this works. All I know is that it does.

Why, you flash cwm thru Odin and cwm increases the flash counter so this method would be pointless if you're not worried about your flash counter, if you don't care about the flash counter then use DA_G method of rooting/overclock kernel, this method is just for the people that are concern about the flash counter and want to get root.

Yes you're replacing the stock recovery with a custom recovery, even when is available thru Rom manager as an official version of cwm, is still considered a custom recovery. Even the stock modified replacement recovery in here it will come up as custom when you flash it and will trip the flash counter if Im correct.

I assume this is doable via heimdall, correct? It looks like it's just a system image, which can be flashed with Heimdall.
Edit: Heimdall doesn't work on the Galaxy Note. Sad day.

No, this is a system root to be able to have root on the stock rom and avoid tripping the flash counter, if you flash a rom I'm pretty sure you will loose this root, but if you are planning on flashing a rom and the counter is not a concern then you need the perm-root in DA_G thread.

Oh, I thought this method would allow root and flashing of roms without tripping the counter. So there is no fix for the counter? I've read posts off people asking how to remove trips etc. So in a nut shell if you are planning on flashing roms at this time there is no fix for the counter so use the other root method?

[Q] A noob needs some help.

Thanks for the easy rooting guide, I was able to successfully root my device. But upon reading about how to remove the pesky yellow triangle, I hit a dead end. It says I need an official firmware. I couldn't figure out what firmware I needed. The more I read, the more I got confused.
This is where I am at so far:
I have successfully rooted the phone, confirmed by Titanium Backup, by following this guide to the exact word, I have done nothing extra (besides a backup with CWM and freezing some bloatware with MyToolbox).
I am just trying to find the original firmware to get rid of the pesky yellow triangle, also preferably one I can use to get back to a 'vanilla' version of the phone if I ever have to take it back to the shop.
My phone details are:
Model Number: GT-I9100T
Android Version: 2.3.3
Baseband I9100TDVKF2
Kernel 2.6.35.7-I9100ZSKF4-CL280225 [email protected] #22
Build GINGERBREAD.DVKF4
I just want to get rid of the pesky yellow triangle and then update the Android to 2.3.6 or whatever is the latest and greatest version.
Thanks in advance for the help!
sallad08.
I gave you the answer to the secure/non-secure kernel question in the AU SGS2 thread :-|
To download stock firmware, either search Samfirmware.com or find/use a PC app called Checkfus which will enable you to download the latest firmware available for your phone/carrier/country. I've just had a look with Checkfus & KF4 is the latest available firmware for I9100T/Telstra, released 22/6/2011. To save mucking around on Samfirmware, you might as well use Checkfus. This will enable you to download a tarball/package you can flash in Odin following the instructions here should you ever need to go back to stock for whatever reason.
Edit to add - You can also flash non-carrier specific/'unbranded stock firmware rather than flash Telstra firmware. This won't have the Telstra 'bloatware'. Search Samfirmware for generic AU stock firmware.

Thanks, I didn't really understand what you meant in the previous reply but now I do, somewhat. I did find Check Fus about half an hour ago and I have downloaded the latest firmware (which is already on my phone). Now after rereading your post I understand this is what I have been looking for incase I need to reflash to go back to stock. Awesome.
How I am choosing a non-carrier specific/unbranded stock firmware on Samfirmware? Do I just look for my phone model (gt-i9100t)? Or am I looking for the same number I used when selecting CF-Root (KF4)?
For generic AU firmware, there isn't one specifically for I9100T, you'd simply look for I9100 & Australia. Makes no difference tho, the I9100T/I9100 are the same animal apart from differences in radio power output. This is why modems specifically for the I9100T tend to work best with it & I9100 modems don't seem to work so well. No difference in the firmware/kernel tho.

Could this method be tried for GT-I9100T Models ?
flash Chainfires CF-Root
http://download.chainfire.eu/23/CF-Root/SGS2/CF-Root-SGS2_ZS_OZS_KF4-v4.0-CWM4.zip
and follow his instruction, which worked like a charm for me :
Getting rid of that pesky warning triangle during boot
It is definitely possible to remove that pesky warning triangle during boot when running a custom kernel, though you should be well aware that this method does NOT reset the custom kernel flash counter. The steps are not complicated, but they aren't easy either, so read well.
(1) Make sure you have CF-Root flashed (see the first post). You must have the "CWM Manager" app available.
(2) Make sure you have the same version of CF-Root extracted until you have the zImage file. (ZIP --> extract --> TAR --> extract --> zImage).
(3) Push the zImage file to /sdcard . It must still be called zImage !
(4) Find an original Samsung signed stock kernel (preferably from the same stock firmware you have, but it's not terribly important)
(5) Reboot into download mode (adb reboot download, or boot the device with home and volume-down pressed)
(6) Fire up ODIN, and flash the Samsung kernel
(7) Boot the device with the stock kernel. CWM Manager will still be available.
(8) Start CWM Manager, select Flash Kernel, and select the zImage from CF-Root you previously put on your SD-card. The kernel will flash and the device will reboot.
(9) You will now notice you no longer have the warning triangle during boot, but you are actually running CF-Root with all it's goodies!
(10) In the future, if you only use the Flash Kernel option inside CWM Manager instead of ODIN, the triangle will not return, neither will your flash counter increase. But keep in mind, that CWM Manager can only handle a direct "zImage" if you are NOT running a kernel with full busybox support (this is currently needed for flashing kernels out of .TAR and .ZIP files)
Yes. That's exactly the method. The OP was asking where he could get the secure kernel from in order to use this method to get rid of the warning triangle. Which I gave him the answer to in another thread.
Or he could use a jig (which is what I did because I couldn't be arsed fiddling around) as the poster above you suggested.

Is there any other way to decrypt the file from Fus Check? After I downloaded it, it fails to decrypt. The download stopped about 3 times before it finished failing a CRC check. I tried googling the file name and had no hits, and using Fus Check website just gives you a file name, not an option to download, or none that I could see?
Are you using the PC version or the phone app ?

I was using the PC version. I just tried redownloading it then and it worked without crashing with a CRC error during download, it decrypted fine. I have flashed it back on and got rid of the triangle, so it works thankfully! My super user icon is there but the privledges are gone too and I can't see CWM anywhere. If I was going to flash to the unbranded version without CWM I would get the triangle back wouldn't I? It isn't THAT big a deal just annoying really.
Flashing anything via CWM shouldn't add to your flash counter or make the boot triangle reappear.

Ahh because I did it with ODIN it removed it. Cool I think I am starting to understand what is happening now! I did just flash the unbranded/non carrier 2.3.6 onto my phone and that worked fine, but I still don't have CWM but if I flash the CF ROOT I will again, as I will have the triangle (hehe)!
So now I just need one of those jigs to reset my counter and remove the triangle and then I will be where I wanted to be at the beginning of all of this. Thank you again so much for all of your help, I was really nervous about doing this at first and it was all very confusing too. But I guess we all have to start somewhere...
Cheers.

Yeah if you flash a CFRoot kernel you'll get CWM/Recovery back. And yeah, a jig is the simplest way to get rid of the triangle. Messing around with flashing stock kernels then zImages of the CFRoot kernel is a pain in the arse.
Yep we do all have to start somewhere It gets easier once you've done it a few times and to be honest, having a 'difficult' experience at the beginning (I stuffed my first flashing attempt up big time/took me 2 days to fix) gives you that motivation to learn how to fix stuff for yourself. It certainly did for me.
Happy to help As you've seen, there's almost always someone around on here who can/will help provided you've done the groundwork & explain your problem clearly.

CWM Question

Hey guys
I've never modded my phone at all when it comes to custom ROM's, etc. My friend told me today that he flashed a CM9 ICS nightly build and it sparked some interest in me.
I read that to get the CM9 ROM you need to have CWM installed on your phone. Is that necessary? If so, why?
I also read that it will void my phones warranty if I install CWM...now obviously nothing is "suppose" to go wrong with the phone while doing this process and I heard that if the phone is soft bricked it can be recovered with nvflash (is this true?).
Finally, is there anything stopping me from flashing a stock bootloader (is that what CWM is?) onto the phone and then a stock ROM, allowing me to do a return on the phone without them knowing?
I'm completely new to this and this whole forum is so confusing and the only real easy instructions I found were on the CM9 site.
Thanks guys,
Elliott
EDIT: I also just saw on this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1uK-k3KfY5c
He used some sort of USB dongle at the end for something...what did it do?
Everything you need and more in the relevant thread. With such basic questions and the apparent lack of ability to search, read and digest information, you would be wiser to stick to stock, official ROMs though.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1419102
Thanks but of course that did not answer any of my questions. I have already seen that and obviously you didn't read my post correctly. I am more interested in the warranty issues with doing this...and if it's possible to comletely revert everything to the point where they can't tell what was done with the phone...I have searched around.
What issues do you think you'll run into that will warrant you sending the phone in? Im on my second samsung phone and they've been flawless, warranty be damned, flash away.
CWM "clockworkmod" is a recovery mode replacement for the stock SGS2.
It's used to do a number of things, one of which is to flash items to the device such as full roms or kernels. I'll let you read up on the rest. Without the need to have your device connected to a pc.
Flashing anything unofficial is bound to void your warranty whether via CWM or Odin etc.
The older bootloader allows the use of a USB jig to reset the warning triangle and flash counter to conceal any warranty voiding activity. At some point (can't remember when) Samsung updated the bootloader to prevent the jig working. A simple flash of the older one fixes the issue and doesn't appear to affect the device usage.
There are some great articles on xda to read about flashing etc. Worth a look.
Hope this helps.

Hey
Well I'm not planning on the phone having any issues...but you never know what could happen...When I first got my SGS2 the home button stopped working within 24 hours and I had to go back and get another one...
I'm just saying anything could happen...ex: buttons breaking, etc.

Hey thanks for posting.
So you're saying that if I flash CWM, and then need to return the phone for whatever reason, I can install the original Samsung recovery tool that was there prior to installing CWM? Is that what you mean by "a simple flash of the older one..."?
Basically, if I ever need to return the phone, can I make it reset 100% original so that even if they knew how to check for stuff like CM9 and CWM, they wouldn't be able to find out that it was ever installed?
And when Samsung releases their official firmware and I decide I want to flash to that one, can I still use it? I'm guessing I could just flash it normally using CWM, but what if I wanted to go back to 100% original and update from there?

Well that kind of attitude just irks me.
Unless I lack the ability to count, you asked a total of five questions, all of which are answered in that thread and countless others around this forum.
Anyway, your apparent main concern has to do with wanting to commit fraud. If you're okay with that, keep going. I guess since you're happy to break forum rules (rule #1), why not try and fudge a warranty claim?
Yes you can return your device to completely Telco/carrier stock.
If you want to do it...
Make a CWM backup.
Backup everything to pc from internal SD. A simple copy will do.
Use CWM to format internal SD.
Boot into download mode and flash Telco/carrier stock firmware via Odin.
Use jig to reset flash counter.
Use stock recovery to wipe device.
This should be as it was when you pulled it out of the box on day one.
When you get it back use cfroot kernel to root via Odin.
Copy SD card backup from pc to SD.
Restore CWM backup.
Should now be as it was before resetting to stock. Except maybe the modem if you like a different one from Telco/carrier stock.

Yes CWM is removed by flashing official firmware so original recovery from then.
If jig doesn't work use Odin to flash the old bootloader. It definitely will work then.

What's the difference between the two?
The first link has the entire rom, the 2nd has just the kernel. However...
These links have been dead for a while now, so you'll need to head over to Samfirmware.com & search for the firmware you need. Follow whatever instructions they have for flashing firmware downloaded from their site.

Thanks. And what is the difference between just the kernel and the whole thing? Is kernel just another word for bootloader? I looked up the terms briefly...
Also, samfirmware.com doesn't have the one I have...is there another source or something?
The rom has stuff like themes, fonts, and other stuff (nuts & bolts) the kernel is like the engine (controls stuff like WiFi, controls everything you can do as root, etc). The package containing the whole rom also has the kernel in it.
No idea. Do a Google search. Alternatively, you can get the latest firmware available for your country/carrier (which may or may not be the same as the one you're looking for, depending on whether the carrier has updated firmware since the one you're looking for was released) with the PC version of Checkfus (do a search for it on here Google).
Edit to add - A better analogy for rom/kernel. Think of your phone as a car. The kernel is the engine, the rom is everything else/the car itself.

I think everyone has cleared everything else for you, so I'll talk about the jig! Firstly you most likely have the new bootloader so your flash counter will still be on, therefore your warranty will still be void. LUCKILY there's an app called TriangleAway (made my Chainfire) which you can find with a simple search, this will let you reset your flash counter and get rid of the yellow triangle as long as you're running a rooted ICS ROM (like CM9) and you can then flash back to stock and all traces of any root will be gone. There is a warning that the app can brick your phone but through my many uses of it, it has never happened and no-one has reported any brick.
Cool thanks for your help!

[Q] Current Binary From Custom to Official Samsung

Hi, I have downloaded some firmwares to my Samsung galaxy s2. The last firmware I put on was Official I thought but in download mode where is says "Curent Binary" it says custom. How do I get that back to official samsung? Is there a way through kies, like with iPhone where itunes can reinstall the os?
Also does a firmware that is vodafone branded be put on a handset that is on the three network? Would it affect the signal?
Thanks
Get a jig from eBay. If you find the jig doesn't work, flash the 'old' bootloader from here. Yes you can flash Vodafone branded firmware on a phone that uses 3's network. No, it shouldn't affect the signal. These things are dependent on your modem, and most roms don't replace your existing modem.
I flashed using a firmware from this site. http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3&t=1&o=1&m=GT-I9100&r=-1#modelsa and it returned it to the Samsung Official. Everything is back to standard.

Is flashing the old bootloader safe on a custom ROM? Even if it's an AOKP ROM? Cheers.
Yep.
However, some roms may not boot with the old bootloader (In saying that, I'm running it with CM9, but I didn't muck around with stock versions of ICS beforehand which might have changed it to a BL which doesn't work with CM9). If in doubt, ask the developer of the custom rom you're using if it works OK with the old bootloader (I presume you want to get rid of the boot triangle ?).
Obviously you run a very small risk of bricking your phone every time you flash anything, and you only flash/mess with bootloaders when you have a specific reason for same.
Having to send your phone to Samsung/your carrier for warranty service is one of those reasons, and if you've gone back to stock & your jig won't work, flashing the old bootloader is a simple no mucking around way of getting it done.

I just got my phone back from repair and they upgraded it to the latest version of ICS with the ICS Bootloader. I've flashed Hydrogen-ICS and I've got the yellow triangle, obviously the USB jig won't sort it because of the bootloader. There's no disadvantage to having the triangle other than if I need to send it back under warranty is there? I think I might just leave it and sort it if the time comes.
Ahhhh OK. Gotcha
No, the triangle is only a 'cosmetic' thing. You could probably flash the old bootloader, get rid of the triangle, flash the new bootloader, and be on your merry way. But if it doesn't bother you & you've got Hydrogen running the way you want & everything is hunky dory otherwise, there's no need to do it

When i flashed back the triangle was gone and i used the branded rom so it has the three network boot logo again just like the day i pulled it out the box all the same apps and it worked like normal in kies i even had a successful update in kies. Though it took some work didnt reconize the device after a good 30mins of pluging and pulling and restarting. I also found some apps can stop kies working apparently, ones from market not on pc. And i had a custome 2.3.6. I just fancied having back to normal till i get bored again.

"Triangle Away" is an app by Chainfire on the Play Store. Costs a couple bucks, but you don't have to flash an old bootloader and/or wait for a USB jig to get to you, which is your other option.

You can avoid the counter increase, simply flash your archives via CWM instead of doing it via Odin. It won't update the counter, so the triangle won't appear

wow someone need to fix his knowledge for this!
---------- Post added at 10:58 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:51 AM ----------
tutorial kinda................ thats how i run
1: flashed cwm (attached) via odin
2: wiped everything, including system
3: flashed stock ICS via odin
4: rooted via cf-root
5: used triangle away to reset counter and triangle
6: install mobile odin
7: flashed the cwm kernel extracted from the same and flashed using mobile odin [zimage]
8: now i have cwm without counter and triangle.
9: flashed cm9 using cwm
now i can flash whatever rom via cwm, without counter issue.
you want to flash kernel use mobileodin again and you wont update counter.
hope this helps.
EDiT: odin is 99.9% for stock ROM's thus will not raise counter. only when you flash cwm for the first time with odin you get counter + triangle.
hope this helps.

Please could you point me in the right direction??

Hiya guys
Ok I seem to have some issues with the new S3 I have, I originally posted here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1749178&goto=newpost
But I have now found that after installing Samsung KIES the phone is not detected when it is plugged in, USB debuggin mode ticked or unticked makes no difference
I asked in the previous thread how to see if it had been rooted, as the phone is unlocked (originally T-Mobile UK) and my Tesco sim works, but then I tried installing the TRIANGLE AWAY app, and it says
"SUPERUSER IS NEEDED but could not acquire, Are you rooted??"
But when I boot into download mode, it says ODIN at the top, counts is 1 and then there is CUSTOM
So I dont know what the hell the previous person has done lol so i thought it might be easier to put it back to stock, and start all over again!
Please could someone point me in the right direction for doing all this, Im new to Android, iPhone user ever since day one, and I LOVE this phone, but I need to know where I am at with it, and it would be better to start from scratch im sure, so if someone could spare a few mins, it would be VERY Appreciated
Thanks guys
To flash back to stock go here:
http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3&t=1&o=1&m=GT-I9300&r=-1#modelsa
Select the relevant firmware and flash via Odin. (If you've never used Odin a quick search on here will put you in the right direction).
If your wanting to reset your counter your going to need to root and use triangle away. Best to do this before flashing stock firmware

you would need to flash the original firmware back onto your phone to get it back to stock you can download the same from below link and flash it with odin.

This is the problem lol, I cant use it, the phones defo been flashed with something, due to the download screen on reboot saying ODIN and the count as 1,but Triangle wont run as it doesnt now look like its rooted, well not entirely lol
See what I mean?
Dunno where I am at!
Maybe if I tried rooting it properly, then using the guide to unroot it and put it back to standard, then start again?
Or if I root it properly, do you think that might sort it out?
Why the hell did you create a second topic?
Your seller obviously rooted it, unlocked it and half-heartedly flashed stock back.
So you're gonna have to root it again, following the descriptions in the 'General' section of the forum. (I recommend CF-Root since it's the most painless and straightforward solution)
Then you use the TriangleAway app.
Afterwards you flash back to Stock.
