Hi guys just got my samsung galaxy s3 so far its good phone .Just wondering I can not sync my facebook birthday in S planner though Facebook account is already added in S planner .please some one help me
I have the same issue, the facebook birthdays don't even show in the contacts. All i did was manually add the birthdays into my phones contacts and then joined them onto there facebook account, then they appear in the S-Planner.
How about adding Facebook Birthdays as a calendar in Google Calendar and then syncing it?
Friendcaster for Facebook will do this automatically for you, and it's probably a better/nicer looking app to use than the original fb app.
I tried friendcaster and no luck there either... the high res pics dont translate into the contacts list either from friendcaster.
Try haxsync! It also sync Contacts with high quality pics instead of the ****ty facebook pics

You can export your friends' birthdays from Facebook into many other programs such as Apple iCal, Microsoft Outlook and Google Calendar.
1.Select Events from the left side of your home page
2.From the events page, click on the magnifying glass icon and select Birthdays
3.From the birthdays page, click again on the magnifying glass icon and select Export Birthdays
4.Use the provided URL to export your friends' birthdays to your calendar

For some reason, the SGS3 doesn't sync facebook birthdays to the calendar but if you install Friendcaster, it will work. I read a post saying it didn't but I downloaded it anyway and it works. because it works with FB (i think) it somehow allows some or all notifications to sync. you must follow step by step instructions on the set up including logging into FB twice.
Hope this helps!

Question:
After entering a birthday in the contact info, am I supposed to get a reminder on my calendar regarding that birthday?
Today my friend had a birthday. I didn't get any form of a reminder even though I entered his birthday in the contact info.
Kind of defeats the purpose for putting it in in the first place.
yeh I noticed that it doesn't appear in the calender too
You do get a reminder, but not in your calender.
If you scroll over to updates & events in your phone book then you will see the first 3 birthdays & any facebook notifications. Also about a week before the persons birthday their picture in the phone book list will show a 1 to let you know they have a event upcoming
Have you tried adding the "contacts' birthdays"-calendar in Google Calendar?

Tried that, but it does not seem to copy the birthday from facebook into the actual contact item in google.so it then never appears in the contacts birthday calendar. or at least, that's what it's doing on mine.
Would be nice if it added it to the calendar, but at least there in the people
You're right. I hope HTC makes it possible to sync information from facebook to google contacts. Would be nice if you got a notification telling you if someone changed their phone number/address/e-mail on facebook, and asking you if you wanted to apply the changes to contacts.
But, at least birthdays should be synced. I am considering manually adding all birthdays to my google contacts, as that at least gets them in the birthdays-calendar.

Where is this calendar? Come to think of it, not all my calendars that I see on Google Calendar on the web are showing on the device. Anyone got any ideas how to refresh the list of available calendars?
To have the birthday calendar sync from your gmail contacts you have to go to the google calendar web --> settings --> Browse public calendars --> add Contacts' birthdays and events.
It works great for me!
Is there any way to edit the "Contacts' birthdays and events" calendar from inside GoogleCalendar inside yor web browser so that the changes sync back to your contacts on an Android phone?
Not in googlecalendar web. Just Add the birthday to the contact in gmail or in your phone and it will apear in the calendar...
I've noticed that only birthdays are being added to the calendar. But I'd like to sync also other anniversaries.
I cannot see
I added the contacts and events calendar into my google calendar online and added a birthday to one of my contacts. That birthday appears in my online calendar but it not being synced to my phone.
I dont see the birthday in my calendar on my phone nor do I see it in the contact details on my phone.....why ?
I was experimenting with this today as well, and only managed to get it to sync the birthday contacts once; the ones that were already in my google contacts when I enabled it are visible, any new ones are never appearing however I try.
Edit:
Correction! After leaving it on for a night, I now see the changes! It just took a very very long time for the update to percolate to the phone, even if google calendar sees it properly.
Manual updates apparently make no difference...
I also managed to get the contact-calendar for birthdays to work. but the year of the birthday isn't showed, so I think the best way for me is to crate a recurring event in the personal google calendar with the actual birthday.

That or get android 2.0 from somewhere; since I hear it should support contacts birthdays. HTC even said that they will push 2.0 to the Hero, if you don't want to "hack" it. Of course, then you have to wait for them to get the SenseUI ported..
Hi, I have a problem that has been puzzling me for some weeks now. Here is the situation:
I have a Galaxy S, running a custom ROM on 2.3.3. I have my Google and Facebook accounts and my Android calendar shows events from both Google (events I entered, contact birthdays, etc) and Facebook (FB events and birthdays). The Facebook account is the integrated one (the one listed in the top, with Twitter and Myspace).
So I bought my wife a Galaxy Ace. It has a stock ROM from our local Braziloan carrier (Claro). When we bought it, it was running 2.2.1 but Kies just updated it to 2.3.4 this weekend. In the Ace, my wife also has a Google and a Facebook account (the integrated one as well) but with a difference: her calendar shows all Google events but for Facebook it shows only the events, not the birthdays!
I hoped the upgrade to 2.3.4 would solve it but nothing... I already checked and the Facebook contacts do have birthdays (when viewed from the contacts app).
I tried peeking at the "calendar.db" as suggested here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1100191) but could not find anything wrong in there.
I also searched for "calendar", "facebook", etc here in XDA but no help sp far...
Any clues???
Did you reinstall Facebook ?

Try to sync? In the settings in facebook.
its a common problem i think...
when i sync my contacts with fb, the birthdays are showing in the agenda but there is no way to display those birthdays in the calendar...
what i did is export your facebook birthday calendar and import it in google calendar (web), then you can go into calendar app and sync that calendar.
Thanks for you replies. Here are my comments:

Actually, I did... I even wiped it all and re-installed everything. Did not work either... But please notice that the Facebook app itself is not the case here. Why? The Facebook app uses a non-integrated Facebook account and I'm using the integrated account.

Yes. I configured it to sync contacts and calendar... And I synced hundreds of times, just to make sure.

This is a workaround, indeed. But I don't want to to this way because it is not automatic: each way a new friend is added in Facebook, I'd have to re-export the FB calendar to Google.
Here is some additional info. I did some more peeking in the databases (the .db files) and found out that the birthdays are not being loaded in the "events" table from the "calendar.db" file (not sure about the exact names, I don't have the phone at hand now...). If I look at this database in my Galaxy S (where it works), I see all Facebook birthdays and events in this "events" table. In the Ace, only the Facebook events were there...
Now it looks like the problem might be in the syncing itself, not in the actual Calendar app (which only display what is in the database).
I had this weird idea: since everything works in my Galaxy S (I even did a real-case test: I wiped my Galaxy S, configured my wife's Gmail and Facebook accounts and it worked perfectly), would it make sense to copy the .apk's from my phone to the Ace? If true, which .apk's could it be?
It doesn't work for me too. Actually, facebook only has the option of syncing contacts. Do I have to have a google account tied to facebook for facebook events to be synced to calendar?
Hi
I have added birth dates to my gmail (google synced) contacts on my desktop pc. When I go to calendar on the pc birthdays show up.
I want the birthdays to show up on my phone calendar.
I have turned Google sync on to update my contact info, in the stock calendar I have found the option "My Calendars, Gmail, Contacts Birthdays and events, Synced & Visable"
The birthdays still dont show up in my phone calendar also when I go to contacts/Info in my phone there is no entry box for Birthdays?
Any ideas if I'm missing somthing?

DAMN I got the same problem...
I actually missed one of my best friends birthday due to this. I was calm that my phone would inform me, but NOPE! Although I have the birth dates on my Contacts, and they show OK on PC and on my Samsung Y Pro, they dont on Xperia S!
---EDIT---
Birthdays are not even shown in the contacts details! And I cannot even add a birthdate in a contact!
We must be missing something, this cant be real...
It sure does suck! Just hope were missing somthing simple.
Same here but I added the birthday details in google contacts it doesn't show up neither in the contacts nor in the calendar but it shows up in the 3rd party Birthday app.
I think this is a known problem.
K900 (if I remember correctly) said that it would be fixed in ICS.
Sent from the Delta Quadrant using a transwarp conduit.
So! Is it true that the problem was not fixed with 4.0.4 update?
Can anyone clarify?
Ive not seen anything to make me think its fixed

just got my new S3 last night, pretty happy. However, I can't get FB events/birthdays to show up in the calendar like my previous Amaze did? There is no calendar option under the accounts and sync option for facebook?
Any ideas?
You have to add a "Facebook (for sync)" account (I don't if that's the correct translation, I don't have my phone in English), you don't even need to install the Facebook app. Then you need to allow the permissions it asks, if you reject or remove any of it, then it won't work.
Awesome! Thanks!
I'm getting events but no birthday?

The easiest way to do it is, go to facebook calendar on your browser, copy the export calendar link, add this link on your google calendar via web browser. Now when you go to your google calendars on your android, you will be presented with 2 new calendars facebook events and facebook birthdays.
Its very effective that way

I tried that and gave me the link was wrong. So i exported it as iCal and imported in good calendar. Worked like a charm.
One question though, every time i have a new event coming up or add a new friend on FB, i will have to re-export, am i right? because it doesn't auto update them.
The only way to keep updated is the app?
Thanks for your input guys
Hi. I am new here.
I have problem with sync contacts from Facebook on my smartfon with Android 4.4.4 (Samsung Galaxy Core Prime LTE). It was working about 1 or 2 weeks ago, now doesn't work. Android doesn't download even 1 contacts from Facebook to his address book.
I logged out from Facebook application, deleted account Facebook from account in address book. Then added Facebook account again, logged in in Facebook application. Switch on sync all contacts and setup contacts to show for google account and Facebook account. Sync was completed and nothing was downloaded.
I don't know how can I fix this up.
PS: Facebook application was reinstalled, doesn't help..
PS2: application such sync.me doesn't download any FB contacts , too.
Seems like it probably has something to do with their new API. Check out the info for another FB contact sync type app here:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ro.weednet.contactssync
Yes it is the api. After the change and the current tos from Facebook Google removed androids native sync options for Facebook.

You just need a 3rd party app to do it. Facebook is not really a big thing with alot of people I know so I really dont use it much and stopped syncing stuff from it when the TOS changed a while ago.
Test a few out in the play store. One of them is bound to work.
