Hi, i just recently made huge steps for unlocking and installing and flashing unlocked ROM. I still not satisfied for Unlocked ROMS cos still have bugs. So i decided to return as before, LOCKED ROMS
But in the way of restoring what i want, many obstacles come in my way but Cleared
1.NO SONY ERICSSON LOGO/ BLACKOUT SCREEN after relock [Learnt Reinstall OriginalKernel for 2.3.3GB, Lost Source of Logo)
2.BootLoop after restore Data/ROM/System via xrecovery [Learnt that restoring Backup ROMS before unlock will crash and bootloop, have to reinstall new ROM via xrecovery]
If you meet these similar situations, feel free to follow steps i gonna share with ya
RESTORE INTO LOCKED BOOTLOADER REQUIREMENT

1.Follow thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1196421 IF YOUR PHONE ROOTED BEFORE, JUST USE its FLASHTOOL, no need to read, save time
2. I trusted This flashtool and it did what it promised. LOL, next
3. Downloaded the flashtool, extract it under folder for your Flashing
4. Download Kernel 2.3.3 here :
http://www.mediafire.com/?fpmabfbbua54qjo
5. Extract the zip or Copy file named "X10i_3.0.1.G.0.75_only kernel_baseband.TFT" and paste it to azuzu flashtool FOLDER named ''firmwares''
6. ''Flash'' and select ''X10i which have contents of amss, cache, fota, and etc. JUST CLICK KERNEL.SIN and OK!!!All will be installed if you follow instruction properly in flashtool. REBOOT!!
View attachment 1114827
7. EXTRA IF NOT-ROOTED: Before reboot phone, Close the flashtool and reopen the flashtool, follow azuzu's rooting instructions, video below REBOOT!!RECOMMENDED FOR USING 2.3.3GB STOCK ROMS
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1196421
Then, if SE logo shown after on your phone, THEN CONGRATULATIONS!!! You Successfully reached your Locked Rooted Status. If rooted and xrecovery installed, just Press Back like before, ''When SE logo shown'' and TROLL Zhidhu LOL, flash ur files and etc. Hope these experiences help solve some of your hardship in X10

Nice Guides.
Good guides. I'll stay on UL BL since my x10's warranty is already expired years ago. Locked Bootloader means limited possibilities to "play around" with our precious X10. While waiting for the camera (at least) and hotspot (not important to me) to be working on Championswimmer's AOKP, I'll stick to MM TEAM 7.2 v1.0 since everything works so smooth with MM TEAM CM 7.2's ROM. Just my 2cent.
Sure

Yeah, gotta wait for Kang Team to release the Build 39 for AOKP so that Championswimmer can start working on it for the next release as I believe he will do his magic to make sure that the camera is working on AOKP for our X10!

If you dont mind to unlock your bootloader, then that will be your first step.
Then, flash custom kernel.
After that, if you want to use hybrom, you will need .62 first afaik.
Just make sure you do it all with caution or else, what is messed will be "upgraded" to become a disaster for your device.

Op said want to install hybrom later. If he/she just flash the stock, he/she just will soft brick the device again and again and again. The other newcomers might follow it also and the numbers of people who soft bricked their device will just keep incresing as of now. They NEED to know they MUST unlock their bootloader and install custom kernel that have cwm in order to flash custom ROM.
Just my 2 cents..

I just want to enlighten the op since the op already flash hybrom v11, flashing custom kernel and do wipe all in cwm already bring the device again. Hybrom just doesnt compatible with stock kernel. But, if you guys lead him to the long way, once the op flash hybrom v11 again from stock ROM/kernel, then it will be bricked again and the circle wont stop and he/she might think that was hybrom faults but the fact is, unlock your bootloader to flash custom kernel before you can use custom ROM, it is just that simple.
If op doesnt have any plan to use custom ROM,reluctant to unlock bootloader, flash back stock by any methods prefered as stated you and metalrawk should be enough. Correct me if im wrong, it is not that hard. If dont like my post, you are welcome to put me in your "ignore list".. It is free to do so..
Edit: and i dont even quote any posts by you or other posters, it is not an argument, just an explanation.

And my post just not targetting the op alone. There are more and more people that are new to flashing now posting at hybrom thread and in this section as well complaining they are stuck at s.e logo, i believe you can see that trend, ive explained it as well in my post above. no hard feeling taken at my side.
I seldom go to any "general" section but that trend of posting in other section quite annoying to be honest.. The op might know (we all can see from his/her post) but the other newcomers might read it and impatiently assume the whole story incorrectly, thats my concerns.
If my post is wrong, then its my bad and apologies from me. Other than that, i believe we agree the story ends here.

Bootloop in St15i
I upadated my Sony Xperia Mini St15i to ICS 4.0.4 with Sony PC companion (Frimware: 4.1.B.0.587). Till then everything was fine.
Then I rooted my phone by following this
Main > Sony Xperia™ support forum > Android development > Discussions
{Guide} How To Root Xperia™ Smartphone Running ICS ( Ice Cream Sandwich) or GB ( Gingerbread )
Still everything was fine.
I installed Titanium Backup and removed few bloatwares, following this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1773024
Installed Xparts from google play for CWM recovery then took backup.
Suddenly after 2 days my phone went in loop mode. Now I'm not able to solve this issue.
Use of flashtool to flash stockrom
A full wipe data/cache/dalvik..
Also tried format system/data/cache, then flashing rom (CM 9.1.0; CM 9.0.0; CM 7.2.0), no use.

Hello!
I was wondering how to know if a Xperia X10 was rooted. And how would I boot to recovery menu if it is?
My girlfriends X10 was locked to Orange and she wanted it unlocked. After phoning Orange to do it they somehow managed to kill her phone! I took it to a phone repair/unlock place and they had it for a couple of days but said they couldn't get it working again. However when I tried it the phone worked fine and was successfully unlocked!
The phone was on gingerbread but is now eclair. Also the boot up sequence has different graphics I've not seen before. I'm assuming the guy in the shop has rooted the phone to install this different version of the OS on, but how can I be sure?!
Thanks for reading!
Cheers
Wagster
Hi guy,
In your menu search for an app named "superuser",if you find it means your gf's device was rooted if not that means that device wasn't rooted.
For xrecovery menu,
Restart the device and when you see Sony Ericsson logo push the back bottom on your phone again and again,if it has xrecovery it goes to the menu..
Good luck.
Sent from my X10 using Tapatalk
Thanks for your reply.
Unfortunately no superuser app and I can't get to recovery so doesn't seem to be rooted.
There's a few apps on there like "AT&T Maps" so it looks like the guy put an AT&T version of android on. How could he do that if it wasn't rooted?
I'll try to find a way to root it and stick cyanogen mod on...
att maps is probably a free app.....use the flashtool to root your phone...its literally the simplest thing.....download the 2.9.1. flashtool in the development thread and turn usb debugging on in your phone...and just click the root button through the flash tool...and it will root it for you...as for xrecovery its the same things...root and clock the recovery button..and its on .....pm me if you get confused
Hit thanks if I helped!

Thanks for your help everyone. I'll give the flashtool a go this evening if my girlfriend lets me!
She quite liked the standard SE gingerbread operating system. What would be the best custom ROM to install to give the most SE like experience whilst retaining useful root & superuser tools?
I'll try to convince her to try Cyanogen mod at some point but I think she'd like to stick with the familiar for now!
Are there any stable (or semi stable) ICS ROMs available yet?!
You can just root it and leave it at that. That way it's just the same but you can use extra stuff etc.

I really have been searching for a while for a solution, but all I can find are tutorials how to instal from gingerbread or how to update to the official gingerbread, but that doesn't work for our operator. Thank you for the quick reply. So if I have a rooted 2.1 x10i and I can't get official upgrades above 2.1 , what would be the first step on my way to gingerbread and custom rom. Well in my tutorial I start from scratch but ok. You would first need flash tools, 2.3.3 rom and patients.
Flashtools would take the 2.3.3 rom and push it to your device and remove your current 2.1. Its very! Easy to do so. When you get 2.3 gingerbread you would hate it right away because its stuck in time slow. Anyway you would then download and place donutHD which is the best stock 2.3 stable rom for x10(my opinion) place it in your SD card. The root your device and install xrecovery(all in my tutorial) and go into the recovery by switching off your phone, the when switching it on again press back a few times until you enter the recovery. Then do a factory reset and the install the rom. When done reset and the your good for good.
Doing these things will loose you all your data on your phone so download GO! backup(not pro) and backup your stuff and when your done redownload it and restore it.
PS.....this was just a rundown, follow carefully my tutorial.

Its ok you could ask. Have you already installed gingerbread using flashtools? And don't worry you won't brick this phone easy at all.
And the donutHD rom in the developer section is a good rom for her because its stable and fast.

Sorry here download gingerbread 2.3 from here: http://www.mediafire.com/?vxa0kzi87idladf
After downloading flashtools and extracting it to your desktop place the file you downloaded in the frameware folder and when you start you would see "flash" using flashtools and then a window would come up showing two files: relock bootloader or something(my PC crashed so I cannot remember the name. But its not important) and a file named Arco and on the same line you would see 2.3.
And remember before turning off you phone to flash gingerbread you should back up your data since it is a business phone. Then go to settings, applications, and tick unknown sources then in development-USB debugging.
Then turn off the phone and after flashtools say plug in the phone through USB do so while holding download the back button on your phone. When done follow my guide.

Hello, and thank you for your interest. I'm in France... And I think there's only one french operator that introduced the 2.3.3 update, and it's not mine.

But I did a little rese§kuld recommend you to look dixperia 7 avenger (a stock based custom rom) for two reasons:
1. it was my first custom rom and its simply great ,
2. there is the stock kernel and an introduction how to flash the rom from 2.1

Hello, and thank you for your interest. I'm in France... And I think there's only one french operator that introduced the 2.3.3 update, and it's not mine.
Anyway, I think I'll go for the first solution, because I allready prepared everything for it, but if you both think the second solution is better, please let me know before the weekend, and I'll try that.
Tiko.

Why postin a question on a general forum? There is a Q & A forum.
Thread moved to proper forum.
Hello everyone.
I tried rooting my Xperia ray today using this guide: http://mytechencounters.wordpress.com/2012/03/17/root-your-xperia-phone-without-voiding-warranty/
Bear with me, you might find all of this tedious to read. My phone came with GB 2.3.4 build .62 which is hard to root. So as the above guide directed, I downloaded a .42 build firmware, CE(Central Europe perhaps? I don't know) and tried to flash it using flashtool. I disconnected the phone from the PC in between. My phone wouldn't boot. Then I used SUS and updated it to ICS, making the phone work. I then flashed it to GB .42 patiently, and with success. Alas, problems started immediately. Many processes such as media, calender storage, acro etc came up as stopped working. Even after selecting force close they would keep appearing. I cleared the respective cache/data and the notifications stopped. Then I rooted it using Doomlord's toolkit, and updated to .62 via OTA, keeping my root. A few things have changed. The keyboard name is the same, International keyboard, but it is different and I don't like it. Camera is not working. Screen goes blank if I open the camera. Messaging does not work and the messaging app crashes as soon as I open it. No contacts are found, despite importing them again. (They all show up when using the import from SIM option, it says importing is done but they are nowhere to be found). I called someone manually. While calling his name shows up but my contacts is completely blank. Google search is not working and it crashes too. There might be other problems, but I haven't checked. Anything in particular to check? Please help me solve all these issues. I'm glad my phone is rooted now, but it's next to useless due to all this. Please help me.
Great. Even the screen unlock security seems to not work. No slide to unlock. No pattern unlock even though I saved a pattern. I press the power button, the phone just shows the home. No security. How do I fix all this? PC Companion? SUS? And I don't want ICS so I won't use them if that's what they're going to update my phone to rather than fix it.
Do a complete wipe data/factory reset or flash .42 again, if this won't work take it to a service center cause it's a hardware issue

Oh my God. Yet again, a small step proved to be highly useful. I can't thank you enough! :good::good::good::good::good::good:
Side note: I'm thinking about unlocking my bootloader, mainly for installing a custom kernel to overclock and probably for using custom ROMs in the future. I know that I will lose my DRM, so I can't run trackid and timescape. What else wont I be able to run? Is DRM that important? Can I unlock the bootloader with a method that will keep my warranty? Thanks in advance.

No problem, hope it's going well now :good:
1. Overclocking can destroy your phone/phone's hardware. I've never overclocked and I wouldn't do it...
2. DRM are not important and trackid should work with the latest version. Not sure about timescape, maybe with an updated version it works
3. You can just keep your warranty by unlocking with testpoint method. Here is a great tutorial and sony won't notice it, only when your phone is bricked up
But testpoint is just working until a specific build number of the hardware, it should be mentioned somewhere in the thread!

Alright, thanks. I've decided to not unlock the bootloader, because all I wanted to do was overclock but I guess that's harmful.
Another side not: Have you bought an Xperia Sola yet? I read that you wanted to

Nope, after unlocking my bootloader and having Android 4.2.1 on phone I don't need a sola anymore. I would go for a Nexus 4, or in future for another nexus device :good:

Android 4.2.1? Oh just saw your sig you have CM 10.1. I've heard that Android 4.0 and above versions don't work well on 2011 Xperia devices.
How's it running? Is it better than the stock GB ROM? How's the gaming performance? If that's fine, I might install the ROM in the near future. Also, do you use Chainfire 3D? V6 Supercharger? Any other apps that enhance performance? Sorry for asking so many questions

For me it's better than gingerbread, but I don't often play games on phone, only somteims, but the games are going well :good:
The rom is only for unlocked bootloader and I didn't upload, but another member in development section did
No I'm not using any mods or tweaks, just sd maid to clean my sd sometimes, but jellybean is running smooth without any tweaks

I think you have gotten a lot of good advice from Mihahn and I just wanted to add some suggestions before you unlock your bootloader...you probably want to get comfortable working with CWM Recovery. It has been a while since I did this on GB but there are a bunch of tools that you can use to put recovery onto GB stock roms and a good place to start is this thread in Ray Dev: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1426912
Also before you decide you just gotta have a certain ROM, take a good look at the OP for the ROM....there may be something not working correctly that would be a deal breaker for you....there are some features that only work properly on a stock based ROM. This is particularly true of the Jelly Bean 4.2 build for the Ray....the 4.1 ROMs are working pretty good.....but if you absolutely love the sony camera app then you have to stay on a stock ROM.
Have fun!
Hi! Some time ago(maybe a year), I installed an MIUI rom on my brother's telephone. It isn't fast or stable - in fact it's awful. I'd have installed him a better rom, but:
1. Forgot how to(normally I use SGS)
2. Don't know which rom to choose
3. Don't have time to read about it
So, the only thing left is to beg you to help me. I need best rom for daily use and installation guide. If there isn't any good rom, please tell me how to go back to stock. In any case, I remember I haven't unlocked bootloader. There's more info in the photo.

My suggestion may not be the best, but my opinion is:
since you are on locked bootloader, try DiXperia 8 stock(no bugs,I'm using this)(you get Sony NXT series theme) or donut HD...

If I want to install DonutHD, can I just flash it like instructions say in its thread?
