Sorry if this has been asked before but I have various pictures and videos on my device that I want to move around and manage into different files/folders. In the past I have used astro or file manager es to do this but when I try to use either of these it doesn't seem to see any of the files weather it be on the phone or sd card.
Is this a quad core issue and the file managers not able to work with it?

anyone
someone else must have come up against this
none of the file managers on the market seem to be able to see any of the pictures or videos etc on the phone or sd card
My Files stock app does.
Super manager does .
On my phone and quad has nothing to do with a file manager not working .
jje
Solid Explorer has caused no problems at all on my SGS3.

Wow can't believe it was that simple, in the past I have always used astro to move my files etc and the defo doesn't work on here.. Stupidly I didn't even realise there was a stock file manager there which does everything I need it to.
Thanks for your help.

Hy.
I want to paste files to system folder from sd card via root explorer (not old version), but it says that i cant because the file system is read-only.I know ,i had to press the button to mount the folder to r/w, but i havent got tis button anywhere.I repeat: im not using old version of root explorer (i tried 2.5.1 and 2.9.3 but the same problem). My phone is xperia x8 (android v 2.1.1).Please help.Sorry for my english, its not my native language
I use File Expert but I had the same problem. I don't know whether this solution is available or not, but it's worth a shot right?
You should first go to settings ---> File explorer settings ---> 'tick' Root Explorer
Then the mount option should appear. Try and see
using file export and I can't paste to system folder.

I'm trying to paste a file to the system folder, I have root expert ticked and mounted the folder. But it keeps saying "operation failed", please help.
In File Expert you should mount system as read-write manualy no matter that root explorer option is ticked on.

Undelete for root users and hexamob recovery, both in play store, may be what you're looking for on your phone. As far as your pc I can't help you there.

Hi,
I have Galaxy s3 and when i try to attach any file from external SD card, it shows attached but when i send the mail, the attachment never go.
But when the location of file is internal phone memory, the attachment goes fine.
Also when i go to gamil app and click on attachment, it only takes me to my Gallery folder. and if you have any external file managers it shows that file manager as option (like Astro)
But technically, it also should show androids default file manager along with Gallery folder where you can be able to attach any file type.
Seniors kindly help with your expert opinion.
And extreame apologies if it is duped thread.
Kind Regards,
Anoop

Never had any issue to attached any files on external memory with gmail. I use file expert as my file manager.

Hi.
Thanks for your revert. I also tried using file expert but facing same issue.
Is u r gmail app updated one?
Really want to get rid of this issue.
Awaiting comments

Opps... Sorry. Somehow latest update on file expert broke the function. Try ES File Explorer instead.
Edit: Using ES File Explorer, you need to enable the "up to root" in the setting. Then only you can scroll to mnt/ext sdcard.

A family member has the Galaxy S3 and it is completely stock, non rooted and so on, and i know the phone does not need to be rooted to install apk files.
The problem is that i have copied over the apk file that i want onto his S3 but his phone, no matter what file explorer you use, just will not see the apk files at all, the fines worked fine on my Sensation and DHD and One X, but i just can not get the phone to see the apk files,
any idea's on what is causing the phone to not see the files?
cheers

you sure they are named as .apk file and not .zip? you should be able to see the filename without the .apk in myfiles for example (myapp.apk will appear as myapp), you will also have to check allow install from unknown sources in the security menu in settings..
yes its named .apk
i have not changed anything about the apk files from installing them on my other phones as i said, the DHD and the Sensation are both rooted but my One X is not rooted and that was able to see the apk file and install it, i seriously have no idea on why the S3 is not seeing them at all and that is after searching online for info
also i have enabled the use on non-market applications to be installed, but that is no use if the phone cant see the .apk files to install it in the first place
How you transferred the file to GS3? Is the file visible when connected to PC?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
I connected the S3 to the PC via the USB cable and transferred the apk that way to the SD Card, when the phone is connected to the PC i can see the apk

getting my files to show hidden files did not work.
what it is that i'm trying to install a game, there is a data folder that has to be transferred onto the phone as well, it goes into the Android\obb folder on the sdcard, i created the folder and copied over the files into the folder, the phone.... using my files, astro or es explorer still will not see that folder i created for the files or the apk file itself that has to be installed for these files to be used.
also i tried it on a friends stock, non-rooted Galaxy S2 and it could see the files and it installed first time with no problems so right now i have no idea on what is going on with the Galaxy S3
Sorted, i know what it was, me being a tit....
when you open astro, it starts off in the SDcard folder... the samsung see's the built in memory as the SDcard.. to see the actual SDcard (the removable one lol) i have to select extSCcard..
Am i a tit or what lol
Cheers for the help anyway guys
much appreciated
Sometimes when I open my stock file manager it just hangs on loading? Whats going on
Once this has happened this applies to all things accessing file system like video players and pdf viewers alike (they casnt access file system either say loading or blank panel)
Only way of then accessing file system is then restarting phone.
