[Q] WT19i Fail to boot after GB .58 to .62 update. - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

Hello all.
I know, I am a noob, but I did search everywhere and I did not find anything that could help me...
I have a WT19i with 2.3.4 and decided to upgrade to 4.0.4 like its described here : talk_._ sonymobile_._com/message/178992#178992 (sorry for the _ but this is not spam)
After testing ICS i notice some functions did not work, sou i did the downgrade to 4.0.2.A.0.62.
With the 0.62 I could not get root, so I downgrade it again to 4.0.2.A.0.58 and root it.
A few minutes with the 0.58 and the phone said it have an update to 0.62, I said ok to update, the phone did the job, ask for reboot, and did not boot again...
If i try to turn it on, the right LED near front cam just blink very low.
If i connect the phone to PC, that LED turn fixed green and notice that is like i connect the usb cable and disconnect it again, like in a look, but nothing appear in the screen...
Is there any change to recover my phone or it is dead???
Thank you very much for any help.

You can try flashing stock rom again.
Since you are seeing a steady green, that means phone is on flash mode.
Use flashtool and flash a stock firmware.
Check this thread for a step by step guide on how to do it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1568792
Check step 4. Installing stock firmware and downgrading

Do as melander says. And by the way, is your bootloader locked or unlocked? With unlocked bootloader, you can't update your firmware via official ways.

I can try that, but i forget to say that i did tried to flash the GB 0.58, 0.62 and ICS 4.0.4 again with flashtool, the process start and finish with success, but nothing changes in the phone...
I've even tried the Sony Update Service, that do all the process too, finish with sucess saying "Power off you phone and power on it again", but the phone is always off... all the process...

Before i tried to upgrade to ICS 4.0.4 the phone was rooted and with unlocked bootloader.
The only "official way" in all upgrades/downgrades was the time the phone said that there was ans update from GB 2.3.4 0.58 to 0.62

That's why it's bricked. Try using THIS tutorial (point 6).

I've hear XDA was great and all... but this is really awesome!!
Thank you very much!!!
Running 2.3.4 - 4.0.2.A.0.62 again.
By the way... is there a way to root it without downgrade it to 0.58?
Thank you very much Feanor88 and melander

Happy to know you made it!
Anyway, since your bootloader is unlocked you can just flash a pre-rooted kernel... I can't tell you which one, since I don't know... but try and search the forum!

There is a workaround if you want to install 0.62 (latest GB) OFW+root+SU and CWM but it requires an open bootloader.

z4root cannot be installed after repair via pc companion

Hello All,
I bricked my x10, and did a PC companion update repair. I also reformatted the sd card. However, now I cannot root with z4. It is stuck on " running exloit in order to obtain root access, or that it exits and when I try to go back into the program, it says that an unexpected error had occurred and need to force stop. Once its force stopped, I cannot go back into the program. I tried restarting the phone, but the same thing happened. I reformatted my phone and card two more times, but same problem exists. Please help! Thanks!

Try uninstalling it. Then, make sure you download it to the sdcard before you install it using Astro or equivalent. I had a similar problem when I tried to install it straight from dropbox rather than downloading it to the sdcard first and then installing it.
I hope you are not trying to root the latest Generic 2.0.2.A.0.24 FW because that is not rootable at the moment?
how do I know if I have the Generic 2.0.2.A.0.24 FW?? I went to 'about phone" and only see that the firmware version is 2.1 update1. is that the unrootable firmware? I also tried using astro to install it thru sd card but it still doesnt work..... maybe I should just root it with one click and not use z4 anymore?

Yes it is recently released. It is a minor update that fixes some bugs but, there is no official changelog from SE. You can flash back to older FW from here.

First, install X-recovery and read the instructions here.
Second, go here and follow the instructions in post #1.
Third, go here to install JiT.
Each post has very simple instructions, so just read through them. Hope this helps.
Thanks for the help, but can I install xRecovery on an un-rooted phone? Because the xRecovery post says that the requirement is that the phone must be un-rooted .... do I still have a chance?

You can flash to an older FW from the link I gave you earlier in post #8. Use Z4root to root and then install x-recovery.

got it work by re-flahsing it back to the old FW. Didnt bother to update to the newer FW, but everything feels fine! Thanks everyone!
Do we need to re-root and re install all the apps everytime that there is a FW update? like re do the whole process when a new FW gets released??

Trouble updating to 4.0.2.A.0.42 after flashing

Hello and merry xmas!
I had some trouble with my Neo phone, would not start and so after i tried to fix and flash it.
So i used the FlashTool_0.2.9.1_FOTAUnbrick to get it up again
i just connected the phone, and clicked flash, and it was up
But now it wants to update to 4.0.2.A.0.42, says only pc companion can do it. So i tried but got a error after a while. and it it bricked the phone again.. had to use flashtool to get up again.
Its up, but still wants to update to 4.0.2.A.0.42.
My phone WAS rooted before all trouble, and it worked fine for a long time, until the SE Neo launcher started to loop like crazy.
I also tried to root it again, both with superoneclick, and Flashtool-0.5.0.0.
And once i tried the Repair phone by pc companion, it starts to download.. but at the end, it says it cant, and bricking my phone (again)...
What now?? Would really have the latest software as i had, and to install my titanium backup pro to get all things as they was... or can i forget it?
Try updating it with SEUS !
http://dl-www.sonyericsson.com/cws/download/1/935/001/1323075898/Update_Service_Setup-2.11.12.5.exe
Can you get into recovery? Try to wipe data/factory reset.
Try flashtool for flashing.

Hi,
I am not sure how to get it into recovery mode. I googled, and it only gave some Cm 7 recover mode. Sorry, pretty new at this :-/
But have not tried factory reset. Hope it will help.. Or it will "delete/brick" my ROM again..
I just do not understand how it got downgraded after all this trouble, and my failed flashing.

Factory reset made it only start looping on and off with "sony ericsson" on the screen...
4.0.2.A.0.42
flash it manually with flashtool, will fix all problems.
So this is what i have for now:
Factory reset = bricked.. did not worked
Flashing failed at userdata with Flashtool = Bricked
But i manage to get it running again by flashing it with loader.sin with FlashTool_0.2.9.1_FOTAUnbrick.
Android 2.3.4 - Build number 4.0.1.A.0.283 - Up and running
OTA says it wanna download 4.0.2.A.0.42 = (but it did not download 165 mb as SEUS below here says) Downloaded pretty fast (i have only 2MB line), asked me to install. Clicked install, phone reboots, and failed. It Says: Could not install new software version, try again. I retried 3 times. same error. But not bricked this time.
Installed SEUS v.2.11.12.9 , doing a Update as recommended by program (not the Update and factory reset), downloading 165,2 MB (takes time.. OTA was done in 2 minutes seconds, so something wrong there)
But Success with updating with SEUS !
But phone is not rooted anymore. And i'm not sure i wanna do it... thou my Titanium backups is very tempting :-/
Can someone tell me if i need more then a rooted phone to use WOTAN flash tool?
Cus it is always stops halfway with an error.
I currently have 2.3.4 - build 4.0.2.A.0.42
I also tried other flash tools, same error..

No you don't need an unlocked bootloader to use wotan, just register download the wotan client and use your registration details to login and flash
I did try that, and it always fails at flashing userdata (number 9 i think), then i brick phone.
And the i always have to use FlashTool FOTAUnbrick and loader.sin to get it up and running again.
I also tried flashtool with 2.3.4 ROM..same error.. fails after a while and brick it..
strange !

Thanks, but that's the one i already have for unbricking my phone.
My bootloader is not unlocked, so i do not understand.
What i did today was i tried to use Wotan, selected ROM, it's starting the flashing, and fails on userdata.
I disconnected phone, started it, and its bricked.. (shows the triangle with phone in-front of it.)
I start up FlashTool_0.2.9.1_FOTAUnbrick as administrator, click on flash, load loader.sin, connect phone, it takes 5 sec, it says its done, and phone up again.
Of course all userdata is gone, i have to restore all kind of apps from titanium backup and so..
Phone is ok.... but many apps keeps on crashing. For example sms, dialer and so.. until i restore i older backup from titanium, but it lasts only a day or two after using, so i have to repeat it often. That's why i wanna install a fresh ROM all over again.
I am pretty new at this, but learned a lot last weeks by failing
I may be wrong but to me this sounds like you may have broke the bootloader.

I manage to unlock the bootloader on another computer, and then WOTAN worked for me
For now the phone seems stable with build .42

[NOOB-GUIDE][ALL IN ONE GUIDE][NEO V]Xperia Neo V PREPARING PHONE AND PC FOR ANY ROM

Since i see many people having problems with installing cm9 on neo v, i've decided to help them
If you're a noob, have a look at this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1409269

IMPORTANT !!!!!!
ONCE ROOTED,
Download https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup&hl=en and backup all your apps(on SD card)
Step 3(next step) of this post will reset(factory reset) your phone.
BACKUP ALL YOUR CONTACTS AND CALENDER ON GOOGLE
BACKUP ALL YOUR MESSAGES AND IMPORTANT STUFF !!
MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR SD CARD ON PC FOR SAFETY (THIS WILL BE DONE AFTER ALL BACKUPS ARE DONE I.E. LAST BACKUP)
Step 3: UNLOCK BOOTLOADER
If you have no idea about this, read this
Why exactly is this a big deal? For the general population, this doesn’t matter. However, for the modding community, locked bootloaders are simply a pain. When the bootloader is locked, certain portions of the device are unable to be customized such as recoveries or kernels. A lot of the time, when rooting a device, the first step requires the bootloader to be unlocked or bypassed. So, depending on the device in question and the will of the developer, creative Android hacking has allowed some devices with locked bootloaders to run custom ROMs. Generally, these devices aren’t as stable as they could be if the device was able to be completely customized from the ground up.
1) http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/ and follow the steps carefully ( skip step 13, we've already done that )
IF YOU GET STUCK ON STEP 14,DO THIS
to navigate to android SDK folder, use this command(without quotes)
"cd location_of_your_android_SDK\platform-tools"
for me, it was - "C:\androidSDK\platform-tools"
2)If you followed the rules, you will have an unlocked bootloader
3)Yipeeee !!!
4)Dont worry about your apps, they're still on your SD card
5)Restore only the apps which are very important and you cant live without them for a day..
Step 4: INSTALLING CWM(CLOCK WORK MOD / RECOVERY)
if you dont know what cwm is, just read but dont follow the steps to install it
http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile...-and-how-to-use-it-on-android-complete-guide/
1) http://www.mediafire.com/?73xv18tht0e8zt4 download cwm
2)Connect your phone in MSC (mass storage mode) mode and wait until SD card available to PC
3)increase your display time out to 2 minutes
4)Enable USB debugging and allow 3rd party/unknown sources
5)open the downloaded folder(extract first)
6)Run install-cwm1.cmd
7)sit back and enjoy!!!
8)once finished, you'll have cwm installed!!!!
9)to check if you have cwm, turn off phone
10)turn on and when sony logo appears, repeatedly press vol down button until you reach a blue colored menu, if successful, cwm is installed properly!! if not, please comment or reinstall it.
11)navigation in cwm-
go up-vol up
go down-vol down
select option-home button
previous menu-back button
thanks siddharthsure93
Step 5: TAKING A NANDROID BACKUP
if you have no idea about this, read this
http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/38468-nandroid-backup-what-is-it-and-did-i-need-it/
make sure that your sd card has at least 1gb free space and you have 50% battery charge
1)Hoping that you have cwm installed, turn off phone
2)Enter cwm by repeatedly press vol down button when sony logo appears
3)go to "backup and restore"
4)select "backup"
5)wait for 10-15 minutes till your phone is backuped
6)now you have a copy of your current phone and rom memory
we do this to restore phone if something goes wrong
NOW YOU HAVE PREPARED YOUR PHONE TO GET CM9 OR ANY FU*KIN ROM !!! :good::good:
IF I GO WRONG SOMEWHERE, PLEASE CORRECT ME WE ALL LEARN FROM OUR MISTAKES.

Im with a neo v with A.0.62 firmware
Which cannot be rooted
But i have already unlocked bootloader
what can I do now?
If i directly flash in JB Kernel and rom, will I be able to have root permissions? Do i even need to care about my .62 firmware if i want to go into CM10?
What should i do? Thanks!

You will need to root your phone first. Installing a custom ROM won't automatically give you root acces. In fact, I don't think you will be able to install a custom ROM without ClockWork Mod Recovery which needs root access first. Follow Sony's own rooting guide here: http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/41119?start=0&tstart=0. Then install X-Parts from the Play Store to get CWM.
Once you have CWM you can install any appropriate custom ROM you like.
Oh is that gonna be painful
Iv unlocked bootloaded with .62 firmware
So i cant get to official ics and stucked with the .62, flashing an older firmware for the root is risky? After that i have to go back to .62 again?

Use flash tool and an ftf file to update to ICS. You can go with 0.587 version for example.
After update as you are on unlocked bootloader you should flash a custom ICS kernel like suave, night elf or any other ICS compatible. This will give you root and cwm.
Look at the stickys. You will find all you need.

You can always relock the bootloader (don't know what method you used to unlock, so can't advise on how to relock - I only know how if unlocking was done through Sony). Update the firnware to stock Sony ICS using Sony's PC Companion. Then root it using Sony's rooting guide. After rooting you can unlock the bootloader again. Install X-Parts and CWM. Then try out the custom ROMs+kernels to your heart's content.

Could you share how? I've heard if its officially unlocked, you cannot lock it again.

On the other hand, unlocking via official method gives you an easy option to Relock bl via flashtool!
There's a thread by Blagus on how to do that!
Btw even Relocking via setool is an option for unofficially unlocked bl users!
So there's always an option!

If this is what you're talking about, I've read it. But will it allow me to use the PC Companion and receive updates(Although I hardly feel there's going to be more than 1 update)/ Go back to official Sony ROM?

Yes. That's the tutorial I'm talking about. I only mentioned what I did because I've done it before. After relocking use PC Companion to update your phone. Or the Sony phone repair program. I don't remember which. If you try both (like I did) one (or both) of them will work. But still you are out of warranty. You know that, don't you?

Basically its all about DRM loss. What do I exactly lose? Only trackid? I suppose the newer versions run on unlocked bootloaders as well.

I think you are right. It's basically about losing DRM. I don't know what it is and of what use it is. All I know is I've never missed it. If you are into trying out custom ROMs then unlocking the bootloader is a must because certain custom ROMs need custom kernels. To install custom kernels you must have an unlocked bootloader.

Maybe I am wrong but I write my thoughts.
Your phone had an unlocked bootloader that you relocked and you reipaired it using seus.
So my thought is you got stock kernel via seus back. Stock kernel hasn't got a cwm. You have to reinstall cwm. Another way is to unlock your bootloader again an flash a stock compatible kernel that comes with root and cwm.

1.1)what was that something, that you flashed on pureness rom?
1.2)what do you mean by not booting after you flash that something? Red light? Bootloop? Bootscreen stuck? What? Be specific!
2)now after you flashed it with seus and you have red led, does it blink, does it light only once?
3)is your battery charged?

flashing stuck at 13%, xperia Neo V [Urgent Help pls]

Hello guys, i had finally made up my mind to root my xperia neo V, i learnt that i have to "Downgrade to 0.42" version and then root my phone, so i downloaded .42 firmware and latest version of Flashtool i.e 0.9.1.0 , i did all steps correclty, checked all checkboxes correctly, at 13% that flashing is simply stuck, no messages nothing,
so i tried with another version of Flashtool, i,e 0.6.8.0, but that also went in Vain, same stuck at 13%, this is the log,

it gets stuck at system.sin,
i tried checking, 'Exclude System' and then flashed, then it gets flashed upto 100%, but while booting phone is stuck @ 'Sony Logo',
another thing i want to tell is, "Already when i bought this phone it had .62 version installed in it, no .42" , it this the reason for not successful flashing?
my phone is completely dead guys, please help me ASAP, pleading you all, please. i have also posted in talksonymobile.com, please somebody help me, please guys

First of all just make sure that you have installed the drivers for your device.. If not then go to C:Flashtool/drivers
Then, as you said you checked all checkboxes.. You don't need to do that!
Just check on the following, wipe data, wipe cache, wipe apps log..
Trust me I have flashed firmware like 100 times using this method and it has worked correctly!
Do as I said!
All the best!

Try downloading the files again, it may be corrupted a download. You may try using a different computer. You can also try flashing an ICS image.
If you still have locked bootloader you can use SUS or PC Companion to try repairing your phone.
There is another option called WotanServer but it is not free, it will cost you about 2 EUR.
PCCompanion (Or SEUS) will always fix your phone as long as you have not unlocked bootloader.
It will restore your phone to the latest "Out of the box" official firmware.
Google and download and follow the instructions.
If it says your phone already has the latest software click on "repair phone".
Remember, if you have NOT unlocked the bootloader yet you CANNOT break the phone permantly....PCCompanion will always restore it.

OK, Download flashtool and use that to root and install a recovery. You can also unlock the bootloader (If you want).
Then you will be able to install any ROM you want.
As for usb otg, read it up in the theme and app section.

dont bet on SEUS OR PCCompanion
They wont always be there to help you.
Once i did a wrong fashing and the phone would boot.
(i was a begginer and i had no back up)
Seus wouldn't recognize my mobile and wouldn't let me repair it.
no final verification box missing
hello guys,
Am sorry to be off topic, but I need answer to this question. I was about to use flashtool 6.9. when I discovered that the boxes for 'no final verification' and 'exclude T.A' are missing. what can I do? thanks.
