Why cant we do this anymore? - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

On my EVO 4G and EVO 3D while browsing if I saw a pic I wanted to share via text,fb etc Id long press the pic and a menu would come up with all the programs on the phone. Now with the ICS browser your forced to save it go in the gallery and share from there. Its a pain in the rear

Its cuz of apples patent dispute
Sent from my EVO using xda premium

Yep. F***ing Apple.

I thought it was the patent thing to, until I checked my transformer prime and I don't have that option there either.
I tried opera on the evo as well, just the save option. Thinking it may be more an ICS thing though and not having to do with the HTC/crApple stuff.

Maybe someone can figure out how to get this back. My Prime doesnt have it either its an ICS thing

Yep its pretty weak.... I'm sure the devs will figure out how to get it back.

Are you talking about browsing while in the camera app? If you are then while browsing through them you just touch the pic (not long press) and you have options, one of them being share.

Check out the htclinkifydispatcher.apk mod in the development section and see if that helps. U must be rooted (not unlocked) to do so though. I just did the mod and when I click and hold a random pic on the net a list of options appear and if you select share link you can post it on fb and etc. It also enables links and urls to become active in the stock email app....

I did this. I dont want to share the link. I want to share the pic itself. If you owned a EVO 4G or 3D you have to know what Im talking about

Yeah actually I owned both I guess I just never really used that feature lol. It would be cool to be able to do that though...

I can do it on my tf101. Long press pic and it brings up menu-one of the choices are "share link". Tap that and it brings up
All the programs on your tablet. But LTE, no go, and I have done the htclinkifyer mod within the build.prop.

Reboot length and twinpic question

Just curious...but when performing a reboot, how long does it take? My e3d takes around 60-70 sec. My wifes takes around half that time. Also, when I send her a 3d pic via twinpic, half the time she receives it in 2d. Suggestions, comments? I'm considering returning her phone...also, I should add, her phone took the updates and mine didn't. (I'm not sure if this is update related.)

In all seriousness, are you sure you are 1) sending 3D pictures from your 3D gallery? 2) clicking the 3D button in Twin Pic? I am figuring user error on your side if you both own Evo 3Ds.
Since I don't know anyone else with twin pic, I need a donator address. I will send a few pics and see if the 3d comes through. I appreciate the info about fastboot, I'm going to check and see if she has that option selected.
If anyone wants to send me a pic, [email protected], and i'll reply.

Amaze camera demo

When ever I try to do the camera demo on my phone it say no video found.
Why oh why did HTC make the option to watch the demo but not make a video?
By the way, the way you find the demo option. Is:
Go to camera, then hit menu. Scroll down to the bottom and hit tutorial, then click demo on bottom right side of screen.

I watched this video from my camera the first day I got the phone in November, 2011. I tried today and it is gone. Strange!
do you guys think that on the ICS update they are gonna get away with the amazing camera we have? just wondering man, when i got the g2x, and then it was updated to gingerbread they took off the nice camera 1080p recording to vanilla gingerbread camera 720p recording,
idk this just got me confuse, oh and by the way if you search on youtube tmobile that video will come up, idk now i havent tried
Checked it out 2 months ago or whenever I opened the box, it wasn't available.
It felt 'creepy' because it didn't seem right that a link from HTC placed on a $600.00 phone to YouTube was gone.
Things like that don't just happen.
The more I think about it, the Amaze is the twilight zone of phones right now, I really love the twilight zone.
"Twilight Zone" theme song is now in your head.
you're welcome.

Microsift's Smoked by Windows Phone seems to pick on the uneducated

So I saw the story this morning about someone being cheated out of the Smoked by Windows Phone challenge and what not... First time I heard about this marketing campaign actually so I looked at Microsoft's page for it which is lined with YouTube videos showing how it's faster than any other phone...
The first 2 videos (all i've looked at so far) are "let's see who can take a picture and upload it to facebook the fastest." Of course WP7 wins every time, but what I'm shocked at is their balls to make a dedicated camera button the selling point as if it's a new thing. "If I hold this dedicated camera button on the side, it opens the camera..." Yeah, I can do that too. Then he points out 1 button upload to Fb - swipe left to right on camera to show preview, tap to upload. Yeah, for us, tap preview, tap image to open share option. And everyone seems to be mesmerized by this crap they don't realize they already have! (ok, not everyone has the dedicated camera button)
You could argue that most people don't know how to use Android. Well... same could be said for any new device... They're just picking on those that don't know.
If you want to see for yourself...

Try holding it down -- phone should give you some haptic feedback and then open the camera.
Of course, on the 3D, you can just drag the camera icon into your unlock ring and achieve the same thing.
I just tried myself. Pressed the power button, dragged the camera icon into the unlock ring, snapped a pic, pressed the "Share" icon that appears during the short after-shot preview, and had I wanted to, I could've hit the Facebook option (I didn't ... who wants to see a pic of my monitor??). It took roughly 4 or 5 seconds, less if I were younger and could move faster

I did see that. I didn't wanna turn it into a discussion about that whole thing. I was amazed at how they're trying to spin their whole camera thing. Watching some more, yeah... there are some other things they're more efficient with. But it's still an ugly and uninteresting OS.

Not trying to hijack your thread, but I'd like to swap the power+vol down method with the power+home. In addition, I'd like to allow screenies to be able to be saved on sdcard2. I'd look into it, but I'm in a hotel for two weeks, and my laptop just crashed. (The day I go on summer vacation from work; I'm a computer tech.)

Yeah, if even that long. The funny thing is that the change is so simple (go find runandhides thread, he shows how he did it) that anyone that knows how to decompile/recompile an all can do it. Let alone HTC, it shouldn't have taken them this long.

No I must agree. You may be mistaken about what is broken with multitasking on our phones. The One X fix removes the black menu bar at bottom of screen in some apps & moves recent apps to a long press of the button. Our multitasking problem is Sense not storing the state of apps once we switch from one to another so that when we do switch or multitask back to original opened app it has to completely restart. This fix does nothing to help that and I don't see HTC releasing one anytime soon seeing as that is how they intended it to work, so from their pov it is working properly.

Thanks for that..What I was going to reply to him with would have been way to Katty and troll like... :good:
Have you guys even read the HTC ONE X update thread or did you just read the post the OP posted and see what it contained?
Go read the XDA thread please
I know it has nothing to do with the menu button. Its a RAM issue, and its being reported as being fixed by multiple users.. Go read the thread.
Being "Katty" gets "Katty" responses. Don't make assumptions about others' knowledge
Nothing in that android central article says anything about multitasking being fixed by this update..Now if you want to find those threads where people are reporting improvements then I will gladly read them.

The discussion regarding multitasking is HTC's "memory optimization". That means the HOX boots with more ram available, not multitasking being what it should be - multitasking.
I really like this phone. I can deal with a moderate task killer. I don't use the phone like I do a computer. All I ask for is a level of multitasking where I can browse the web, change an album or two, send a message, and return to browsing the web - seamlessly. There is clearly enough ram, let us use it.
Sent from my EVO
Unfortunately HTC's current next generation smart phone's have been a big flop. I'm sure this update will make the current user base happy, but it will definitely not attract new users. HTC has been to slow with its updates to fix current problems and unfortunately it took me to install CM10 to finally use multitasking the way it was meant to be. Htc better fix their problems quickly or they'll be the next Nokia.

I knew I wasn't going crazy. My ram percentage was always under 25 percent. Something was very off about that. That's the same percentage my Evo 4g gave off with the same apps installed. Sometimes my Evo 4g was better. Smh. Multitasking won't be updated by HTC until October I bet

About multitasking from what I just saw over there they are getting more free ram avail from get go but HTC still did not make it so apps won't reload but that was one persons account...someone on AP said it was completely fixed...so its hard to say so many people seem confused...
