So I decided to view some videos on the youtube app today, and for some reason it does not load. I uninstalled and tried to re-install the app through google played, but I was unable to download anything through google play. Using the mobile 4g connection, it works fine, but not over wifi. Is there something wrong with my device here?
I'm having the same issues. I'm on a different phone (T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy SII) but YouTube and Google Play are dead for me on wifi. I was able to download an app over 4G but it over wifi I just get "Downloading..."
Yours still failing?
I was having the same problem, reboot fixed it.

Spoke too soon I guess. Both work for me now over wifi. Didn't even have to reboot (rebooted earlier and it didn't fix it). Must have been something on Google's side.
I have the same problem with my lg g3 what do I do???????????????
You can try to reboot your wifi or set the static IP. Hope it works.

First off, I love my Atrix, but there are just a couple of small problems with it, nothing to major.
The one that I have not seen discussed here (maybe just my phone) is the market being wonky over AT&T's network. Here is what happens...
Ill be on AT&T's network trying to do things on the market like update an app or install a new one, but when I start the market up, it gives an error about not being able to access the network. The thing is though, I have a strong 3G signal.
My fix is annoying, but it works. I go to another app that uses network data and load something so it *establishes* a connection to the network, then, when I go back into the market, it works 100%. I was just wondering if this is a problem anyone else has had and if so what their fixes are?

I had this problem and here's what I did go to manage applications and click all filter at top(2nd from right) and clear the data and cache from all the google stuff like google services framework (also download manager, google backup transport) and then go to market and clean the data and cache. at this point when you tried to get your market it give you an error message but don't worry about that just give it a few minutes then turn on your wifi and connect to the market through wifi then from there turn on your data connection. If still getting error just reboot and should be fine with same original issue. Last go back and clear data and cache from market and hit uninstall updates. Wallah done. READ THIS BF STARTING. I don't know what part or all of that fixed it but that's the order I went in and that's the results I got you can skip right to the end with just the market clearing in on installing updates or you can do the whole process. Your call.

I am having the same exact problem as you and I use the same cheap solution...and the scary thing is that it sometimes just happens when using a browser too...it says that there is no internet despite the fact that I clearly have a strong signal that says h+...and the upload and download arrows disappear, not just fade to grey signifying no traffic....does anyone have a solution? Unrooted 4.1.57
Was just about to post this xD It's quite irritating.
Hi there,
First time poster - So, "Hey guys!"
I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 (Hence the post in this sub-forum,) running on Cyanogenmod 9 (10/04) nightly.
For quite some time, i've had issues with loading videos from the youtube application on my mobile network. Wifi works perfectly fine.
Whenever I go to load a video, it always comes up with, "Connection to server lost, touch to retry."
I'm able to bypass this, by enabling HQ (On or off) and the video loads perfectly.
However, this is only a work around - The issue still remains. It's quite annoying, as It's worked once or twice in the past (This was when I was running stock, without root.)
I've tried everything I can think of. (Reflashing to stock (Rom and kernel,) rebooting, fixing permissions, clearing dalvik cache etc, etc, etc...)
I searched for this exact issue all night last night, and half the day today at work - All to no avail.
Does ANYBODY have the same issue and or know about fixing it?
Many thanks,
Josh
Uninstall ur youtube and install again from play store. Or try to remove google account and re-enter ur account.
I am having the same problems.
Does this not have something to do with the 4.0.4 data problem that has been reported?
Reinstalling youtube doesn't help me.

just refresh it a couple of times .. works for me
OK I messed about with different ROM versions and nothing happened even after a factory reset.
Also updating youtube didn't work.
However I have just installed the latest build 31 of Team Kang and installed an older gapps package from Feb 12 (instead of the Mar 12 package).
Youtube then updated itself automatically on reboot and now works fine off wifi.
It didn't have anything to do with 4.0.4. I stand corrected.

I have a Galaxy S2 running CM9RC1 and I'm having exactly the same problem. I've tried GApps packages signed from March and April to no avail.
YouTube's mobile site works fine. The YouTube app works fine over WiFi. It fails to load any videos when I'm connected using 3G though and returns the error above.
I've tried a factory reset, cleared cache, uninstalled/reinstalled the YouTube app, tried enabling/disabling HD from within the YouTube app, tried a number of different APNs, selected/deselected the option to preload videos, ensured my flash player is up to date, reflashed CM9 and reinstalled GApps. I've been Googling a couple of hours now and I'm beginning to lose the will to live! :crying:
Everything worked fine prior to me rooting my phone and flashing CM9. I was originally running the official Vodafone UK ICS rom.
I'm beginning to lose faith that I'll be able to fix the problem so would appreciate any suggestions?
TIA,
Bob.
Edit: Well no sooner have I posted that I think I've managed to crack it. I navigated to Settings > Location Services > GPS Source, and noticed that the radio button to use the internal GPS wasn't depressed. I selected it, backed out and now things seem to be OK.

I'm having the same problem. My GPS Source was also unselected but selecting it hasn't made any change to the situation. I'm not sure how GPS can effect Youtube performance?
I've had the same issue with youtube on both my Epic Touch 4G (Galaxy S2) and Nexus 7 device.....but only at my house. Youtube works perfectly elsewhere. Can it be something with my home wifi network? The nexus 7 is wifi only and I have never been able to get youtube to work at my house but it works when connected to other wifi networks elsewhere. Also, my mother-in-law is visiting this week and her kindle fire will not play youtube while in our house, getting the same "Connection to server lost, touch to retry" error message.
All signs point to something being up with the wifi network but I don't know how to solve this issue.
Wound up being Comcast's throttled DNS. All good now.

Try looking at the apn you are on in your settings. Mine was on EPHRD. Moved it ti LTE and now you tube is working again.
I have the SGN2 WITH SPRINT.
disable "restrict background data" from data usage. or if you have any firewall apps disable it then try. hope it will work for you as like me.
sorry for my bad english
I started getting this error last week. If I try to watch a video in Google Plus, or in the YouTube app. Closing and opening it doesn't help. I have to reboot the phone to get it to work again.
Has anyone else had this issue?

Now I can add Maps to this issue. Happened once last night. I tried force closing but it still wouldn't complete loading. I just got the error, "Maps has stopped." "Wait or close?"
I eventually had to reboot the phone.
Took my phone to a Sprint store that has repair techs in house and they asked if I tried a reset and I said yes. They worked on it for a while and then they tried the youtube app on their phones and it did not work either. As I was picking up my phone another person can in and had same problem.
I use orb to stream live and recorded tv to phone and it has stopped working as well.
Try fixing permissions in recovery. Toss a cache wipe in there as well for good measure

I was on phone with level 2 and and they could not get the youtube or orb apps working on my phone. Did a hard reset while on phone, still get connection to server lost. They sent me a new phone and still have same problem, orb and youtube do not work. Connection to server lost for youtube and orb will not connect at all.
I did notice that a few apps showed up like the mirror app and a couple others when I first looked at phone about a week ago. thats when I started having problems with youtube.
How do I change those settings in recovery and clear cach you were talking about? Not rooted at the moment.
Thanks for any help.
I just noticed this strange problem... I can still play youtube video via wifi but once on sprint network, any youtube video won't load , nor start to play!
Anyone else had or fixed this issue? Mine is with rooted stock build 4.5.1A-1_SUN-196, (btw, the phone failed to install the latest update through "update motorola software"), youtube is up to date.
If you are rooted I would recommend restoring to the last good state and make sure that youtube works. I have not heard of any youtube problems with the update. I would assume it is a bad install. Restore... wilpe cache and developed cache and install again.

Poor speeds? Do a speed test. Even on 4g sometimes I would get just 300kbps. 3g was like 80. Check that before you start exploring permissions etc
P.s. I am no longer with sprint because of this. And my wife who still is cannot even use Pandora.

Thanks guys. I kinda fixed it. Had to remove that sprint HTTPPD Proxy. Once done it, video can be played on 3g and 4g.
So it's not youtube version problem - it was fine with wifi but only had the problem with sprint network. Youtube video simply couldn't load up and was stuck in loading. Same result as testing with sprint TV, but some other videos (ie, in Pulse news) were not blocked.
I found a similar post with the HTTPPD Proxy removal that fix it, too:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19056982
I did remove that HTTPPD sometime ago following a post about speed improvement. I didn't notice much difference at that time so I had changed it back to default.
That programing code doesn't work for me, I'm on cm7.

This is just frustrating. Even with a strong wi-fi signal (2 feet from router) it's buffering every two seconds. I can't even pause it and let it build up.
I tried clearing the cache and even the app date but that didn't work.
Attempting to watch YouTube on browsers (Firefox and Dolphin) don't work either, it crashes the browsers every time.
The only way I can watch YouTube really is via remote desktop to my Windows 7 machine.
Anyone else facing this issue?
I dokn't have that issue 20-30 feet away. If I ever had that, I reset my router and discover it was my router's fault.
The one annoying thing is trying to use YT with the keyboard and having to back out to the initial main screen to type in the search field...

Ya man i find that i have to be getting atleast 8mb down for youtube to play without buffering. Which isnt good considering the WiFi problems. I also hate how it has to reload the video if you leave the app!

I can watch anything on my HTC Sensation (custom JB ROM) no problem from the same spot. But on the TF201, it's just b*ll****. So it's not the router. I can't figure out the problem.
Do you have Bluetooth on? As in have a Bluetooth device paired?

Nope, never have bt on.
I figure out a way to watch now. It's using Firefox and switching the user agent to "iPad". :/
?
You shouldn't have to do that.. I've never had any problems using youtube. Are you on a custom rom or kernel and what one are u using?

It's working fine for me now. I guess JB with a factory reset did the trick.
My guess is that it's probably a hardware problem. ASUS has never been a symbol of consistency with their products :S

I am using the YouTube app , no problem for me..
Here is running just great.. No problem at all!!!
It's perfect for me, just like on my desktop. Some update must have fixed it.
And I don't use the YouTube app, I disabled that, I just use it on Firefox like I normally would.
