Back up your current system/build.prop. Use ES file explorer to copy, mount as R/W and edit the build.prop. What you'll need to edit:
Find the line ro.da1.enable=true
Change it to ro.da1.enable=false
Directly under it add the line:
ro.da1.method=false
Reboot. Profit.
Confirmed by me to work with no issues. Bypasses the app associations and gives you the pop-up menu to set defaults.

I put in some good ideas about brainstorming that were outside the box- if all you do is look back and criticise, that's odd.
All I wanted to do was inspire alternate methods, if the ones that don't work at the moment, aren't working!

When everyone was giving up on unlocking our awesome 3vo's, I said, "if HTC or Sprint can change the operating system anytime they want, why can't we?"
I was thinking that there might be a way to enclose the hack within the HTC code... So that no root would be required, if the new code was included within the normal HTC signature. I don't know what I'm doing except I don't like to give up...

Hello everyone. This is my first time starting a thread on XDA-forums.
While I hate ranting, I am noticing a trend of ROMs being approved by developers in the i777 development forum. While having such approvals assure ROM enthusiasts that the ROM they are downloading is "stable," I believe it causes confusion and tension. Instead of having ROMs be approved by a developer, ROM enthusiasts should flash ROMs they find interest in and report on its stability and so on. What ultimately determines popularity of a ROM is attending to people's needs in a ROM and attentive feedback from developers. I am by no means a developer (yet) but, I just feel this trend is unnecessary. How do you guys feel about this? Am I just being a prissy ***** about this?
What? People are free to flash whatever rom they choose. Even different Developers will try a different developers rom to get a feel for it or to try something new.
I'm pretty sure that's what the roms poll thread is.

Personally I think it clutters the name, but I really don't care enough.
Just flash what you like, ignore what is approved since most of it is just for ****s & giggles.
the approval thing is just for fun, I do not thing anybody is going to try a rom just cuz is approved or not by a developer, unless you are a real noob which in that case you should not be flashing roms without doing some research first. Best thing to do is to try all the roms available in the developer section and stay with the one you like the most.

Has anyone heard anything regarding the development of Swype? I wanted to give it a shot again but I couldn't find it on xda and I wanted to see if anyone has heard of an ETA for the official release.
Edit: Just realized I named the thread Skype instead of Swype, I also put it in the wrong section. Sorry about that, I really wasn't paying attention. I'm doing too many things at the same time.

You can change the name of the thread by changing the subject line in your first post by using the "advanced edit" option.
And you can just request a mod to move it, or they will see it eventually.
And about the question I have not seen any updates for swype beta recently. I can't use it as a standalone keyboard though.
When I had the EVO Shift 4G with a hardware keyboard it was perfect though

I'm not much into programming but am willing to give my honest (and in my opinion tasteful opinion) if anyone needs a tester for certain things; themes, what have you. I'm not much into programming but am willing to give my honest (and in my opinion tasteful opinion) if anyone needs a tester for certain things; themes, what have you. Because it is totally unnecessary. What if everyone started threads like these? We would have a million to wade through. That's why we're being "asshats." I wish people wouldn't go right to name calling when neither Miami nor I did anything wrong.

How is it helpful to start not one, but two basically useless threads just to say, "Here I am!" If you want to help and can, then just do it instead of trying to make yourself look like the forum's savior. There is a forum for introductions because they don't belong anywhere else.

How else is someone going to make it known that he wants to help besides making a thread? Go through messaging all the developers and message random people he may think could start developing? Oh and by the way... If anyone wants a mirror to some file i'd be happy to upload to my dropbox and give a link. Just to help out..

They don't. If the developers offer it that's all well and great and if you ask in their thread has usually okay too but making a thread is simply not necessary.

I understand it's not entirely necessary. but why not? I just read all the rules and there's absolutely nothing that says anything against this thread. The rules do mention things against what has been said about the guy starting this thread. And rule #10 seems to make starting this thread perfectly ok, right?
You want to help? Then find a thread where you have expertise or desire and post in it. Starting one of these threads is unnecessary and starting two just shows how clueless you are. I won't even comment on the racial undertones of his member name.

Yes, he shouldn't have posted this in a new thread, and certainly not twice. However, XDA is a place for CIVIL discourse.
We can politely point out his error, then report the thread for a Mod and move on. All the junk that follows is nearly as bad as the OP.
Simply ignoring bad posts/threads is a lot easier than flaming the OP then flaming each other.
