Hey everyone.
I've been having some issues with answering calls. Whenever I get an incoming call I trap answer and a voice comes on saying press 1 to accept or press 2 to send to voicemail. I don't like this at all! Does anybody know how to return it to normal? I had it for awhile in my OG Evo days but now it's annoying with the unreliable proximity sensor.
Thanks in advance!

do you happen to use google voice? because if so i think you have to go into the google voice setting in the app and set it to not be used for calls.

I did once. Come to think of it, it started happening after I installed it. About 2 weeks after though I flashed a new rom and haven't installed it since. I don't want to use google voice, but if I install it then where would I go to fix this?
Thank you for helping!

If you install it and skip all the sprint integration and whatnot, once it's set up all you have to do is go into settings and I believe it's the second thing in the list. It's very hard to miss it haha

Log into (using a real browser) your google voice account and disable call screening.

How can I change the amount of rings it takes to have voicemail pickup? It takes way too long. I tried to Google it but didn't find my answer. I'm not using a Google# if that helps. I'm using my cell #

I believe you're going to have to call sprint if you're using sprint. Your title says Google voice- so if you're not using Google voice and using your cell with cell phone number then yea youll have to contact your provider. Or check the settings within your phone settings

Disregard sprint...you have the thunderbolt. But I still think you'll have to contact Verizon.

Yes, you actually have to call VZW and have their rep set it up. Had a similar issue with the number of rings before going to VM. The rep resolved the issue for me, although I had to explain how Google Voice works before he understood fully what needed to be done.

Will the EVO 3D work if not activated from sprint, I'VE heard it will but I am curious to this fact, also if I can get passed the setup because I live in Canada.

I used mine for almost a day (used wifi only) before I caved in and activated it online. There are quite a few who are doing as you said ..work the phone without activation. As for being in Canada .. can't help you on that problem.

I like your picture of a cat with a helmet.
See because I hate cats (sorry I have my reasons) and to me, a cat with a helmet means I can kick it out of my way and not really 'harm' it because it has protection on it.
Im JK but I do hate cats still.

I don't want to use the phone, I just want to use the features since the nexus s is my main phone to make calls and I plan to tether my nexus to my HTC EVO 3D so I can access all of the internet features.

On setup, just hit back when you get to the first back button...if that does not work...starting in a clockwise fashion...touch the corners of the screen with the top left first then hit the android..this also bypasses the setup feature. It's been a while since I did this..so you might verify doing a google search.
Yes you'll be able to use apps and all that without activating it. Obviously you won't be able to make phone calls. Most android phones don't need activation to get into the OS.
Does anyone know why when someone calls me my phone tells me to press 1 if I want to answer the phone or 2 if I want to send a voicemail????
Sounds like Google voice to me...

but I uninstalled it lol wtf
You may have to go on the website to deactivate it from your number, in the settings. Thats what I had to do.
Thanks that's what I did

Man I do not like GVoice I deactivated it a while ago and when I was rooting my epic it came back...weird I'm not sure why that is a option...
Every once and a while my evo won't make calls, giving me a error, and when others try and call me they get a error as well, no voicemail or anything.
Anyone else getting this? First noticed it after stock with root, wiped and still happening. I'm running viper Rom and it still happens every once and awhile to.
Also, when it happens I also can't get texts. I haven't tested data out any of the times, but when it happens it still shows signal and data icons.
A reboot fixes it, but I never know when its going on until someone tells me in other ways or I try and call or text.

Are you using google voice with the sprint integration? I had an issue with that for a while. If so go to the google voice page and disconnect and reconnect your number from voice and it should all clear up.

Thanks a ton. Didn't know GVoice had done that. Disconnected it and switched it back to my regular google voice number, with forwarding for voice mail.

I can not find any visual voicemail in the past two roms i have ran. i am on team venoms viperez rom now. when i get a voicemail it says in a txt to reinstall VM? i cant find it in the market? what do i do?
I believe Joel said he removed it because it wasn't working properly in the Rom.

Visual voicemail does not work on sense 4 Roms . Unless someone came up with a fix , but I haven't found it . Try phone fusion on the market .

I got it to work by editing the build.prop and installing the thunderbolt visual vm app. I'd post here but XDA app won't let me upload to post.

Flash the .zip file from recovery and install vm.apk as regular app with any file explorer program.
Yeah, I just edited the build.prop line about visual voicemail, =false, and then installed a verizon VVM apk
Why not use Google Voice?

Every time someone asks about Verizon branded Visual Voicemail, most users say this. There are so many reasons I personally use VZW VVM. For one, I like having 2 separate VM inboxes, one is GV for my business calls, the other is VZW for my personal calls. Second, it's convenient. Third, I get it for free.
GV for voicemail is not an end-all solution.

I'm not sure if I want to thank you or not because now my options for roms to start flashing and playing with is a lot larger
Seriously thank you though.
Is there any reason that Joel wouldn't use this solution for his roms? Does it affect any other parts of the rom?
I don't use google voice, because for the 2 days that I tried it, over half of the missed calls gave the caller an error about not being able to connect (can't remember the exact verbage) and did not give them an option to leave a voicemail.
I use my phone for work, and I can't afford to deal with missing voicemails.
