Wondering if anyone has had this happen to them:
I have a family plan with 5 lines. All the lines are do up for 2 year upgrades. I went into BestBuy yesterday and upgraded my brothers line to the LTE for 60 with trade in. I checked sprint online and his contract was already showing updated with the contract detail locked in for 2 years.
I upgraded my line thru Walmart to the LTE about 2 weeks ago and my line is still showing with a $150 upgrade available. I checked through the Sprint online and through the automated line. Both say the same.
I am wondering if I can just go into BB and upgrade my line again and get another LTE...
Probably so. Same thing happened to me at best buy last year. I waited three months and it never showed the new contract locked in. I went to the sprint store a few months later and upgraded again with no issues.

Same thing happened to my wife at Wal-mart. The upgrade is still showing as available for her. I'll think she'll hold onto it for next year though, she likes being able to get a new phone every year HAHA

Thanks for the reply. Here is my situation. I bought through Walmart and paid 170 and we went to Best Buy for my brothers and got his for 60 with OG Evo trade in. I was going to return my LTE to Walmart and go to best buy to get the 60 dollar deal becuase I have an extra EVO with a broken charging port that has been laying there for a while with no use.
But when I saw the my upgrade is still available I think im just going into Best Buy to try to upgrade another on my line and just sell my EVO LTE on Craigslist or something. I dont want to risk returning and losing out on the upgrade...

Whatever your prerogative is man, go for it. I was tempted to do another upgrade on my wifes line and just sell the phone for cash, but alas, she wants to keep her upgrade for next year lol
It's gotta have something to do with the cahsiers doing the upgrades wrong. My wife and I both got our phones at Wal-mart, but mine shows the upgrade as used. Oh well
same thing happened to me through wal-mart. upgrade eligibility retained after buying at wal-mart. woot.

Since I left apple for android a few years ago I used to get yearly upgrades when all of a sudden thy stopped. I called att and they said since I'm the account holder (share plan) and my portion of the bill is more I then get earlier upgrades. Essentially they said a portion of my monthly bill goes to paying off the cell phone and the rest goes to my monthly charges. By their logic...if I pay off my phone in a years time and they won't let me upgrade then shouldn't my monthly bill go down?? The att rep told me that is basically exactly how it works and she told be to keep checking to see if my upgrade date gets adjusted but it never does. 10 year customer paying $200/mo, I'd really like my yearly back.

I've never heard of this. On a shared plan any lines update can be used to upgrade another line. I.e. your daughter can use the update available on your phone line to upgrade her own and you could use hers 6 months later when her line is due. A good customer can usually be offered an upgrade 1 month early of their scheduled upgrade but not every twelve months. None of your bill goes to paying off your devise directly. What ever rep told you that is of their rocker. The fact is that they lose money every time sometime upgrades so they understandably have to be restrictive to how often this happens which is every 18 months.
An extra standard line on a shared plan is $10/month last I checked. This line also gets upgrades. If there are 2 people using the plan you can get the extra line and cycle the 3 upgrades to get upgrades more frequently. It costs money to do it but a year and a half is 6 months to long..

My sister is the account holder, but I'm an authorized user, and am always in att. Well I got two of our three lines upgraded early, both went with the skyrocket, but I then wanted the s3. Loved it but I wanted a bigger screen(found out the hard way you only get one trade in) so I traded my new s3 for a white note. Im the main line and we all get our upgrades like a year and a half in

You could be right but I don't know. When the Samsung blackjack 2 came out I got it on regular upgrade, maybe 10 months later I went in to the store to pay my bill and I was digging the iPhone 3g so I asked when exactly is my next upgrade date, she said I can upgrade now...I was like really?! So of course I did. I was 6 months in on my iPhone 3g when I herd of the iPhone 4 coming out, I used the text number to check upgrade status and it said I could upgrade in June of that year which was exactly when the ip4 came out (got it on launch day) as soon as I had the phone I texted the number again and it said I can upgrade exactly 1 hear from the day I got the ip4 (12 months) a year later I got the infuse checked status and now I'm back to 2 year upgrades, I got the note with my third line. So that's 3 phones in 3 years...highly u likely to be a system screw up. I called att and what I mentioned on the first post is what they said, my bill is $200, I'm responsible for the actual $80 plan, unlimited data and text, my gf is responsible for the $10 add a line and unlimited data and text, my 3 line no one uses.
So if att never gave 12 yearly upgrades than why did I receive 3 of them.

Hello fellow Xda members. I was hoping to get some advice from the community on how to go about my pre order dilemma. So I am a current Verizon wireless subscriber and currently have 4 lines with Verizon. All of our lines had 1 more year remaining before contract was fulfilled and we were up for full upgrades. We received an email saying that they were going to offer 2 of our lines a limited time promotional upgrade. This was due to those lines still having basic phones. (Mother and Father in law) So my mother in law was so gracious to allow me to pre order the note 2 on her line so that I can have it. According to Verizon we have to keep the note 2 on her line for 2 weeks, before we can switch it over to mine. Is there a way to avoid this? Obviously cause I don't want to wait another 2 weeks, well and my mother in law wouldn't know what to do with it. LOL Also my other reason for wanting to avoid her having it for 2 weeks, is because I know verizon is going to charge us for a data plan on her line for the whole 2 weeks she would have it. I am not sure if it would work like this, but since they are shipping it to my house, I figure I can just call them and have them switch the IMEI and just purchase a new sim card for my number?
Thanks!
Was wondering the same thing. I have a flip phone on one of my lines and ordered the note 2 also. So you are saying I have to keep the phone on that line for 2 weeks then I could switch it to my phone. Did they say if you could downgrade the plan back to a no data plan.

Well to be honest my situation may be a different exception than your situation. They said it had to stay on my mother in laws line for 2 weeks because it was a promotional offer for the full upgrade. Since they were offering her upgrade a year only because they were still on "basic" phones.I haven't asked about downgrading the pan to a no data plan yet. I just want to try to avoid having to add a data plan for just one month, considering my mother in law would not make use of it.
Don't worry, when you get the Galaxy note 2 just follow these steps:
1. Activate Galaxy Note 2 on the line you upgraded (your mother in law.) Let it get signal and settle for a couple minutes.
2. Now reactivate the phone that was previously on that line. If that happens to be a basic phone, as soon as you activate it, the data plan will be dropped since you can't have data on a basic phone. You will be charge the prorated price of a dollar if you had the 2GB data plan for $30 since it is considered to have been active for one day.
3. Basically the Galaxy Note 2 is unlocked to any Verizon line or account now. The reason you must activate it first on the line you purchased it for is due to the shipping security procedure to ensure you received the phone.
I've done this a couple of times it literally take about 5-10 mins, and is really simple.

Well thanks for the information, so once I remove it from her account all that i would need to do is purchase a sim card for my line to put into the note 2, right? I am currently using a loaner HTC Rezound until I get my note 2, can I just use that sim card? Once again, thanks for all your help!

I have a Rezound as well right now, you can't use that sim card since you need a micro sim and the Rezound use a standard sim. You could try cutting it, but it would be simpler just get a new one.

I looked at every blog and cant find a straight answer. So if I am due for a phone upgrade...With Sprint one up plan i can get the note 3 for 0 down "no money upfront" and makes payments each bill cycle? At the end of owning the phone 1 yr i can do get another phone again with 0 down?
I'm in a similar situation, I want to swap the note 3 after a year or 6 months to get triband lte (I'm in a wimax area).
Currently on a family unlimited plan but wondering if I can do the jump program for a year.

I am doing the One Up on Friday to go from Note 2 to the Note 3. You have to pay sales tax on the full retail price of the phone up front then you start your monthly payments. After 12 months you can use the One Up again on that line to get another new phone. This way actually saves me money. If the price is $699.99 then I will be paying about $58 on tax and then right at $30 per month. So one year of payments would be $350 then I could start all over again with the Note 4. Since I usually buy a phone at full price when I am in the middle of a 24 month contract, the One Up program is going to end up being cheaper for me.

I called my local store about this. The thing that I think people miss about it is that you cannot upgrade to the next phone (in your case Note 4) until you have completely paid off your Note 3. So a year in you still have to pay another $439, assuming they put retail at $799. Also I am pretty sure that at that time you surrender your old device to them meaning the argument about picking up the difference via a private party sale is out the window too. Then you'll have to put a down payment to get your Note 4 on top of that since the no down payment option is only a limited time deal! For that reason I'm not jumping into the One UP at this time...
I was told by my local store that it works the way I described. That is the whole point of the One Up program. To allow customers to upgradeevery year. One of the social care people on sprints forums even states " you will be eligible for a new phone after we recieve 12 payments for the phone"
I would go in the store and ask or call a different store.

Yes you are eligible that is true but you are still due 24 months payments, meaning if you have remaining balance on your phone you have to pay that! If I'm wrong someone show me some official documentation because I can't find it.

That doesn't make sense from what they told you. How is it a one up program if i don't get a device each yr. The limited time yes is for 0 down but you have to be able to get a new device in a yr to call it One Up. Otherwise I would just pay $350 for device up front and get another device in 2 yrs vs paying full price. From what i heard you don't own the device and you are turning it back in, hence the reason you are not paying full price and allowed to upgrade in a yr.
Sprint is really going down hill with the softbank merger. Confusing everyone even their employees.
We have had one statement from Sprint only saying it will be release Oct 4th. No promotion or anything. The one up hasn't been fully vetted and its live and active. This is crazy!
Exactly it's like they are trying to copy the auto industry and develop a phone "lease" program. I love the thought of early upgrades (R.I.P. Gold member program) however I was told that you have to pay the remaining payments before you can upgrade to your next phone. Would love for this to be wrong but need someone to find some actual proof from the sprint either way.

That would be the same as current plans...If i wanted to upgrade to a new phone from Note 2 in less then a yr i just pay the early termination. After a yr on contract the termination would be less then $200. So if i paid $300 to get the device and $200 to cancel contract that's only $500. Still $200- $300 shy of original price. As this wouldn't make any sense i am sure One Up has to be cheaper in the fact of getting a new device each yr.

I just now called customer care and asked them. I explained to the rep (Kelly) what I was planning and asked about the remaining 12 months of payment if I One Uped again in 12 months. Kelly put me on hold while she looked into it and she came back and said that after 12 months of payment I could do the one up again. I asked again to clarify that they remaining 12 months of payments went away and she said yes as long as you turn in the phone.

Yea that's what i figured. That's the only way this plan could work lol. Im still upset that sprint has not made a bigger effort to explain this. Its like they don't want anyone to know they are doing 0 down. Maybe after 0 down ends they will start advertising.

Don't forget the $15 per month discount that you get off your bill for as long as your in the one up program. With that your essentially only paying 15 per month for the phone.
Say if you were to upgrade to the Note 4 at year one, do you own the Note 4 at year 2 after completing 24 payments?
If that is true, One up makes a lot of sense because you could then sell the Note 4 that you upgraded to for more cash at year 2 than a Note 3 you would have had to kept for two years with the standard subsidized route.
Yea, my upgrade isn't until January, they want me to give them my "one" to switch to one up and get the note 3. Eff that. I'll probably just switch to AT&T. They tried to switch me to customer retention but I was on hold a good 15 minutes and I had to go to work . I don't mind giving up the note 3 in 12 months while on the new plan, but I'm not giving them a phone I just paid full price for.

There is alot of confusion on the one up program but you pay 12 months on a phone and then if u want to upgrade again you have to hand tje phone over and start paying on another. That's hiw tje other 12 payments are gone. It's a cool idea that I'm gonna take advantage of. Plus the 15 off the monthly bill is awesome. So it would only be about 15 extra to get the note 3.

I'm in a similar situation. I pre-ordered the Evo LTE, so I can't do a standard upgrade until 1-1-14. Shortly after receiving my pre-ordered black Evo LTE, Sprint announced the white Evo LTE and I bought it at retail. Around May of this year I bought a Note 2 at retail. Even though I'm still in contract, the active device on my line is not what I bought at contract price. After talking with 3 reps at 611 and 2 reps at 2 different local stores, I was getting mixed responses about whether or not I'd have to trade in a phone to start the One Up program. I finally called 611 again and asked a rep then had her verify it with her manager. She told me that I do NOT have to trade in any phone to start the One Up program since my active device wasn't purchased at contract price and because it had been over a year. I had her put notes on my account saying that I do NOT have to trade in a phone to get the Note 3 Friday morning and begin the One Up program! I still have my black Evo LTE and white Evo LTE, so I'm going to take my black LTE with me just to be safe in case they do require me to trade it in. I could sell it on ebay for $150-200, but to me it would be worth paying that to upgrade early during the Note 3 release. Hopefully they'll expect nothing from me except taxes on the Note 3, and I'll be good to go. I can let ya know for sure in just under 8 hours when my local Sprint store opens up. I will be there at 10am when they open to get me a white Note 3!!! Hoping that all goes smoothly!!

I'm either gonna convince them to let me start the program without trading in my "One" or I'm gonna go give At&t a try for a while. I've been on the fence about leaving anyway, I'm ready for 4g. Sprint is not only making me pay 50$ than anyone for the Note, and now they want my phone that I didn't even get from them? Heck no

It can be almost any phone. Upgraded to the s3 when it came out for my original upgrade. Switched to note 2 midway through contract. Upgrade I was scheduled for was feb 2014. Activated my old evo and turned that in for the note 3 this morning.

Be prepared to wait if you're getting the Note 3 on the One Up program! I was the only customer in the store and had to wait 1.5 hours for them to finally get it to go through for me! They even called Sprint and confirmed that everyone is having problems with it this morning. They told me that no over else has got it to work yet, but I was willing to wait all day, lol. Just be patient though, they eventually got it for me!!

I'm thinking about leaving my note 2 and go to the note 3. Sprint offers a "1 up" program where you are eligible to do an upgrade after 1 year. My problem is this. They told me that I have to turn my phone in and pay $350 for the note 3. I bought my note 2 through sprint for $600! Is there any way around me not having to turn my note 2 in??? Doesn't seem right since I bought the phone and not leased it. What would you guys do???

That's not right at all, make sure you're going to a corporate Sprint store. (Go to the Store Locator on Sprint.com and look for stores labelled "Sprint Store" not "Sprint Store by Whatever Communications".) If you're eligible for upgrade you don't have to turn the phone in. I just did it on my line a couple of weeks ago and didn't have to turn in my old phone and I didn't pay anything up front except sales tax.
They may not realize your Note 2 was not subsidized when you bought it. Normally, under the 1 up program, you do have to turn in your old phone. You are making payments on the full price of the phone, and since you can upgrade in a year (before paying off the phone), you turn in the old phone. But, I don't think you should have to do that with the Note 2, since you paid full price for it.
From what I heard that if you are eligible for an upgrade or have bought a phone on a non contract status that you shouldn't have to give up or trade in a phone to do the 1 up program. Correct me if I'm wrong guys

You shouldn't have to turn in your phone or pay 250. I did the one up program, only paid the taxes, and kept my phone. I'm still under contract for one more year too.

Only problem I have with the One-up program is they flip you to one of their unlimited plans. If you have multiple lines like me (five), and have unlimited data, text, cell, but shared minutes, it's a frickin nightmare to justify the expense. Even when they offered to force just my master line onto one of the two unlimited plans, the math just didn't pan out. Staying off contract and in my existing plan were two things of which I didn't want to let go.

I have 2 lines unlimited and been with Sprint for 13 years. I left my HTC EVO and went with the note 2 when it first came out. I signed another 2 year contract and paid $600 for the note 2. Now that it screwed up on me I want the note 3 so I wanted to do the 1 up deal because my contract doesn't run out until July........I just cant believe I would have to turn in my note 2 and pay $350 for the note 3. The $350 for the note 3 doesn't really bother me....the thought of having to turn in my note 2 that cost me $600 does. That makes no sense to me at all why they said I would have to do that.

If your contract ends in July, you should have an upgrade available in March. If you want to do the 1 up thing before this, I'd activate the evo prior to doing so. This way you can trade in your evo instead of your Note 2.

Like I said before, that's not accurate. If you bought the Note 2 outright when it came out, you should be already eligible to upgrade and that means you do not have to turn in the Note 2. I have no idea where the $350 figure came from because that's the price for regular upgrades, not the One Up program. Again, make sure you're going to a corporate store, they're the only ones that can do One Up right now.
