Ics 4.0.4 img - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro

Hi, im looking for official 4.0.4 IMG file, i can't change SIN to IMG cuz i got many errors.Any one have it ? or know how to change format ? Xperia Rom Manager doesnt work, Sin2img also.

Use a nandroid back up for img, sin2img hasn't worked with any ics release, seems Sony changed the byte order.

I always forget to tell you, looks like its working with neo and arc ftf, but doesn't work with neo v and arc s.

Does arc also use /vendor?

Yes. But I doubt that is the reason.
As sin2img should stripp down sin signature from whatever file.
I talked to aZuZu, he will also check that..

Indeed, looks like flashtool have better sin header detection, or should I say yaffs header detection.
Mystery remains, why old sin2img works with Arc/Neo and why not with Arc S/Neo V

is this what you referring to?
Use NANDROID backup instead of FTF. Cooking ROM from FTF is very lengthy procedure.

Copy "System.yaffs2.img" file from your memory card CWM backup folder to your PC local drive and extract it using "unyaffs.exe" for that give command "unyaffs system.yaffs2.img". It will extract your system folders and files. After extracting complete delete "lost-found" and "sd" folder if present.

Arey yaar why you need system.img! Create new folder in kitchen and give it name as WORKING_XXX and put these system folders and files which you have extracted from system.yaffs2.img and also put the META-INF folder and Kernel (boot.img) in your WORKING_XXX folder. After that start DSIXDA kitchen and change the updater-script into update-script. Now you can able to modify your ROM as you want. After your modification complete change the update-script to updater-script. Go to META-INF folder and edit updater-script and remove following line :
assert(package_extract_file("boot.img", "/tmp/boot.img"),
write_raw_image("/tmp/boot.img", "boot"),
delete("/tmp/boot.img"));

Now select 99 build your ROM. Thats it!

i extracted sin files and from tht i got system ext4 file... i need the folder of system ... how to get it from ext4 file.. pls guide me....i had tried sin2img , ftf file extractor etc... but all end with errors... do u know the compression size of ftf fie of ics...
How did you got ext4 format from Neo/V ics?? Neo/v use yaffs, not ext4.
For ext4 you can use mount -o loop system.img system in linux environment.
But for Neo/V you don't need that.
If you are using windows use Linux reader to mount ext4 image and copy files.

It makes ftf from the files you have...for example if u have kernel.sin and loader.sin, then u can convert it into an ftf

But no harm in giving a shot

no dont worry I know enough. I know the files after unpacking ftf are like you told. I just had this little hope that it is making ftf from zip. Great work and will try it in some days. Thanks hitted
Maybe you should explain a bit more how it works and what I can use it for
Because I guess there will be some people who want to build a ftf with their own modified /system folder, so better explain all files that "could" be in the input folder and how your program works :good:

I don't really think that it will be possible....but u can give it a try....if anyone want's to try, try to do the following:
1. Change any custom kernel to sin if possible.
2. Then download the stock ftf ROM for which the kernel is made.
3. Then extract the stock ftf and get loader.sin from it.
4. Combine loader.sin and kernel.sin together.
5. Then compress them in ftf format with this tool.
6. Then try to flash it and see if it works.
Most chances are that it won't so try anything at ur risk.

Creating custom kernel as .sin files is not possible for our Xperia 2011 devices. Only Sony can do that. There is a way for Xperia 2010 devices but it mostly won't work on our devices. Good work though

If you have the FW FTF you can extract the sistem.sin from it (with 7-Zip or other software)
Then you extract it's content with flashtool -> Tools -> Sin Editor..
Then you need to get ext4_unpacker and you can extract anything you want from it.
I'd gladly U/L it but I have Xperia P not U.

FTF file is just a zip file, inside it there is a file system.sin you should extract from it.
Any archiving software should be able to do it.
After extracting system.sin, open flashtool go to tools -> sin editor.
Click the 3 dots and select system.sin, click extract data.
When finished there will be 2 more files in the same directory of system.sin, system.partinfo and system.ext4.
system/ext4 is the file you need.
Get ext4_unpacker http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1921399
