please answer

In order to s off, u need to unlock your bootloader and also install super user.
Sent from my AWESOME HTC EVO 3D. Click THANKS if u find my post is helpful.

I'm not sure what your question is, sorry, I think you're asking if you have to have a relocked bootloader to use revolutionary to get s-off. If that's right then here's the answer. No, you can't have a relocked bootloader or a locked bootloader. The locked/relocked bootloader is hboot version 1.5 and revolutionary doesn't work with hboot 1.5. You'll need to downgrade to hboot 1.4 to use revolutionary.

[Q] Evo 3D CDMA - HBOOT 1.50 S-OFF back to S-ON

I have an Evo 3d with HBOOT 1.5 and S-OFF. I want to get to 1.4 S-OFF but I can't find how I can set S-OFF back to S-ON, so I can proceed with the downgrade instructions located here... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1547695
Search and google are not helping too much as there is too much noise talking about getting to s-off and not trying to get to s-on.
Can you please point me toward a solution to change from HBOOT 1.5 S-OFF to HBOOT 1.5 S-ON?
Thank you.

You can brick your device!
Forgive my ignorance, but if you are s-off, why would you want to do this? I thought 1.5 s-off was just as good as1.4 s-off.
Sent from my PG86100
When set at 1.5 you cant change the splash screen or radio. or other settings.
Also Bricking it is what I need to do to convert it to 1.4 BUT I cant to that until I have S-ON. Correct?
You are s-off so no need to brick, just download this copy it to sd card and flash via bootloader.
Also I could be mistaken, but I believe hboot 1.5 is perfectly ok as long as you are S-off, I am pretty sure you can flash whatever you want.
BTW the download link is taken from OP in this thread, you might want to read through it.

^Exactly this. If you read the first post of that thread (especially the gigantic red letters and what is under that), it will tell you to NOT brick an S-off phone as it will permanently brick it. You just need to flash the 1.4 bootloader.

i had the same problem as OP. i think the issue with 1.5 is even though its s-off, the bootloader is still locked and therefore a recovery cant be flashed and root cant be gained.
Ive been looking for the standalone hboot 1.4 ruu so i didnt have to do what op originally suggested
You have all of my thanks

Ya I didn't even think about revolutionary only working with 1.4 or below that must be the problem. You are welcome for the help, I just figured most of this out about a week ago when I had to do the downgrade after unlocking with htc method.
I would fastboot oem lock then do HTC's unlock again.

You have to HTC Unlock the device first, then do the fastboot oem lock (if you don't it will say "Device was already locked!" message)

If you are S-OFF you can flash any bootloader you want...no need to go back to S-on....I found a few bootloader versions on here and flashed them back and forth when trying different roms.....once your S-OFF you should never return...lol
I was thinking of taking it to Sprint for a replacement cuz of 4G not working, but then I thought, WHEN ON EARTH do I use 4G??? LOL It's always off...

[Q] Tricky HBOOT question

HI all! I want to know if downgrading HBOOT 1.53.007 is possible.
Before I did the OTA update I was able to downgrade my 1.49.0018 HBOOT to 1.49.007 using this method and to easily get S-OFF and unlock bootloader(http://mess-hall.co.uk/2012/04/rooting-htc-evo-3d-hboot-1-49-0018/).Also it was very easy for me to obtain S-ON and LOCKED using this guide (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1710033).
Now my question/s.If I do the same thing to this 1.53.007 HBOOT(put the PG86IMG.zip in the root of the sdcard and open phone in fastboot and let it flash):
1.will it downgrade my device to 1.49.007?
2.will it brick my device?
Can you suggest something else?I mean I want to obtain S-OFF and an unlocked bootloader BUT NOT WITH htcdev.com method.
THANKS!!!
1. No
2. No
I don't think there is a way without htcdev. I had to do it last night and searched all over for an alternative. I tried what you are suggesting as well, but it runs through the flash process in bootloader then nothing.
I bit the bullet in the end and went htc dev followed by the wire trick on io. Got hboot unlocked then soff then flashed an old stock to get hboot 1.47. Just in case I accidentally s-on at some point!

[Q] Question about bootloader after S-OFF JuopunutBear

Hi Everyone. Now I'm on stock hboot 1.53.0007 S-ON and I'd like to do S-OFF. I understand that i should unlock via HTC Dev, then root and after that S-OFF. But my question is how does the bootloader looks after S-OFF via JuopunutBear? Does it make LOCKED and S-OFF? If not what should I do (if it's possible) to go back for a locked bootloader (not relocked)? And if JuopunutBear makes bootloader LOCKED i should be able to flash RUU, than use fastboot oem writesecure flag 3 to make S-ON and that's all? Cheers

You are most correct sir. After you perform the wire trick the end result is a "locked" bootloader with s-off. With s-off you can flash any version of your carrier and regions ruu. Definetely right after you flash ruu you would fastboot and use that command to get back on s-on. I hope I answered your questions. Please don't hesitate to ask if you need more help. Peace.
Please hit the thank you button if I helped you in anyway.
One more thing. When it comes to the end of S-OFF via JuopunutBear there is a question: Do you want to install juopunutbear modified hboot? What will happen when I'm going to choose No? I will be on stock locked hboot with S-OFF? What pros are with Juopunutbear modified hboot? And I understand that if I want to get rid of Juopunutbear hboot I must flash RUU? Cheers
With s-off you can flash any hboot you desire by renaming the file PG86IMG.zip, place it on root of sd, reboot bootloader.
Jbear hboots accept more adb commands than stock.
sudo passwd root

[Q] PROBLEM "Locked" s-off

Guys, I didn't find any explanation for this here, and I still have a problem. I have HTC EVO 3D GSM..
I was on 1.53 hboot and I unlocked bootloader via HTCdev.com. After that I wanted to do s-off with "wire trick"..I successfully made it. I wanted to install Disarmed Toaster ROM, but I had a bootloop. So, I downloaded new PG86IMG.zip, downgraded hboot, and now I have 2.3 GB android, with LOCKED BL and S-OFF..now..How do I get UNLOCKED bootloader..I tried with htcdev.com again, but failed..There is error failed: remote not allowed
Hope you can help me..
This post explains the situation you are describing on the CDMA version, and I suspect it is very much the same on the GSM model. If you want to read the original explanation by Unknownforce it is here.
You should be able to use the JBear hboot for your phone instead on unlocking the bootloader, or if you need an older version I think I read there is a GSM version of the Revolutionary bootloader.

You just installed JBear again and you will gain UNLOCKED. Or you should Unlocked again w/ HTCdev.

I dont think locked should be a problem as long as you are s-off. Someone correct me if i'm wrong but i believe you can flash roms/kernels etc now.
why do you need it to be unlocked?

This is correct. You do not need boot loader unlocked I'd you are s-off.

Some people still seem to unlock the bootloader after gaining S-OFF so they can run fastboot commands like "flash" and "erase". If you try to run those commands with a locked bootloader you will get the "failed: remote not allowed" error even with radio S-OFF.
The wire trick leaves the bootloader locked, but choosing the JBear hboot or flashing another custom version (engineering or Revolutionary) is a better way to get access to those commands than unlocking the bootloader again.

Thank you all..I did what had to be done..Now, I have s-off with Jpbear hboot..mwakious rom..and it works like charm ..This is my first ROM installed on HTC EVO 3D..and I hope I will get used to install new ones ..

Confusing result after RUU

In an effort to upgrade bootloader and software to be compatible with cm11.. I used vipeRUU to go from 1.12 bootloader to 2.09 bootloader with the 3.17.651.471 software, whats confusing me is bootloader still says ..Unlocked ..and S-off after running ruu ..bootloader has changed and so has the software... (i was Previously s-off via Lazy panda).. i was under the impression that this would un root and lock bootloader again.. i know that i now have lost root i know how to check that .. question is , is bootloader locked now as well?..tried rumrunner and moonshine to no avail, to get S-OFF .. and it needs to be unlocked for those exploits to work.. any ideas?
It will lock your bootloader and return the phone S-on if you chose those options in the menu when you first ran VipeRUU. If you're still S-off, then all you need to do is unlock the bootloader again unless it's showing unlocked. An easier route than what you chose would have been to update your Hboot to the Rumrunner Hboot, which takes less than a minute to do. You'll still need to update your firmware, since VipeRUU is a version behind what's currently out there. If you're S-on now, you'll need to unlock the bootloader and run Moonshine.
