Can we put gorilla glass on sk17I ? - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

Hey guys got a great mini pro device but broke the glass (with applying slight pressure only to one part of the screen). Touch still working but I need to get it replaced soon.
So is it possible that I get the new glass to be a gorilla glass instead of the stock s**t? Also what do you do to protect the glass from such breakage...
Sent from my SK17i using XDA

why must gorilla?
it can break easily too.
like my friend sgs2.
drop from pocket, n broken at the corner.
Sent from my Nokia 3310

Well, my Xperia mini fall like projectile motion from bed onto floor but the glass and whole handset still not broken..

even my lww has dropped from waist height but didn't even got scratch on glass or pannel..

Know what you mean
My wt19i cracked in one corner still works
Left in cupboard now as a backup lol
Digitzer 25quid on ebay not worth it on 99 quid phone lol

Well mine wasn't dropped I guess pressure was applied though while in pocket .. gon fix it anyways ... the question is if there a possibility to add gorilla or smth stronger as display... and how to keep it from such occasions..I was tjinking of a hard cover or smth....

So when I got my Neo it came with screen protector which I applied on the screen... now the screen protector has some scratches and I'm wondering is the screen safe from scratches without the screen protector because I've read somewhere that beside the fact that it has scratch-resistant glass some people still got scratches. what do think?

Just don't put it in one pocked with your keys,Neo has mineralised glass(not Gorilla glass like iphones, but close enough)
yea been using it for 4 months now , no scratches so far been using it with a naked screen since day 1

Yeah. Really lucky. My 4 week old Neo V was just falling once into the ground. It landed with the upper left corner.
RESULT:
Broken Screen, just a real little part in the left upper corner. But. The Touchscreen isn't working anymore...
Did somebody had some problems with dust under the screen?! There were about 2 tiny "things" under it...
As the above posters said, the screen is scratch resistant. In those 4 weeks I've didn't had one.
Sorry for my english skills...
I cant imagine a smartphone without any screen protector. I have been using this one for couple months and it has already saved my screen from scratches (even from some small particles when you have it in your pocket). Its true that the tiny part of shield is irretrievably scratched (even they guarantee its indestructibility), but the display is like new. Thank god!
i would still buy a screen protector just to be sure if i were you,
you can get it really cheap on ebay or maybe other webshops.

My Neo v has a Small Scratch by my little Cousin with her Finger Nail..
And At the Center of my neo v .. it feels Like OIL has Dropped on My Screen , i tired to Remove it but it Doesnt. What Can be???
and what about silicon cases.....it's really helps? it's easy to find on the internet? cause i don't think i will find a good 1 here in Brazil......
Im between a optimus black and a xperia neo.... probably going for the neo... it's cheaper and i liked it a lil bit more than the optimus.....
Got my Neo a screen protector since day one. Been using it for more than a month... Got my protector some scratches... Well I think putting a screen protector is better rather than having none. Got nothing to loose right? just a few bucks (LOL) Im more concerned on getting some scratches on its back cover so I got a silicon case. Drop my phone twice, no dents or whatever...

hmmm.. You said it was scratched? Does it look like a dead pixel or stuck pixel? if it is a stuck pixel, you could search for the web on fixing it. Dark spots are caused by an excess pressure and sadly some of them grows larger just like on TVs, LCD monitors etc.... Its either, you try fixing it, or get your unit replaced.....
Been using a screen protector and a leather case with flip cover from the day I brought phone and it's been 4 months now and not a single scratch in phone

New and some questions

Hello new galaxy S3 owner here and I found a problem with this fon. The problem is that it scratches very fast if your not careful. So I was using it for 2-3 weeks and noticed scratches on the back of the phone so I went to the shop and bought a bumper. After like a month I started to noticed little scratches on the screen. If you look very carefully you can see them. Now I worry about the camera and the glass on cam. Is there like a better glass or is it the same as on screen? How do you guys protect your SGS3? I was thinking about buying screen protector ...
Sorry for bad english or if this thread allready exists.
Solution 1: Don't touch your phone
Solution 2: Get the screen protector
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
hh think that the first one is the best solution I'm just a bit worried for the camera... I can get an screen protector but haven't found anything for camera.
For camera lens:
Solution1:Cut the screen protector and stick it
Solution2: Get a case which will avoid lens touching on any hard surface

I was thinking about buying 2 screen protectors and cut one for the cam lens. I was woundering how do you guys have your SGS3 protected? Cause I was hoping that I can use my phone with out any case like you know iPhone. It is made of glass but still good glass not that scratchable. Had SG Ace before, need to get used to bumper
Get a screenprotector (transparent, anti-glare, mirror or private) and use a case which covers the whole back and side.
Then ur good to go!

Hi there.. The first thing you do before even switch the phone on is buy a rubber pouch which will protect your phone including the camera. The pouch sits lower then the camera lens so you cant damage it even if you wanted to....Next you buy the screenguard. After putting the screenguard on and putting the phone in the pouch then start using your phone. Do this and your phone will still look brand new after 5years...:good:
I dont Get this.i have 2 sgs,1 gs2 and have had my gs3 since 10/6 and no scratches, even though i always put my keys against the front glass in my pocket,so i don't scratch the back.i have dropped my gs3 twice 1 time on concrete and once on asphalt, only damage is on the edges, quite bad looking and riffled but not a scratch on the screen and i have never used any protection..
And the way i have treated both gs2 and sgs with bashing and throwing them around and they still work and not a scratch on the glass.
I agree that gs3 seems more fragile than sgs and gs2 and i wouldn't throw the gs3 as i think it would break..
Maybe ive been lucky with my gs3.But nevertheless not single scratch on my gs3.
I am sorry to say but its really stupid if someone is using a smartphone without screen protector and back cover. Never Trust your hands in this case
the safest thing you can do for your mobile is buy a case and put your mobile inside it. scratch guard depends on how you use/handle your mobile, as u already see micro scratches u need to stick a scratch guard as soon as possible

[Q] Dropped my Galaxy S3 and need help choosing what to buy

Need help
i just dropped from my bed my Galaxy and the ultra mighty gorila glass cracked but the touch and the screen are fine, no leaks or whatever, i just need to know what i have to buy to fix this mess
i found the digitizer LCD Display and Touch Screen not included that cost $18 dollars
or the full lcd touch combo that cost $239 dollars
as i said the touch is 100% working and the lcd doesnt have any leaks
i have searched similar topics but the other cases have broke lcd
thanx in advance :good:
Just found this video, i think im going to buy only the glass, the other solution is to expensive with 239 dollars i can get a new s3 with my mobile plan
So sorry for your phone man. I guess since the touch still works you will only need the front glass. To be honest i'm looking forward to see the answer of your question, since i never understood properly how the digitizer and the front glass work. Always thought they were the same.
Seeing images like of your phone is the reason why i bought my UAG case.

What is it with Galaxy S3`s and so meny people dropping them and smashing there screens.
I have had my GS3 for quite a wile now and not a single drop or scratch.... are they really that slippery lol
You will need to buy them both. I have completed this repair numerous times for friends and family, and the digitizer will break close to 99% of the time.
I do consider myself very tedious and patient, but it is glued to the screen and there's a pretty slim chance of it coming off in one piece.
You can heat it up and try to get it as soft as possible, but it's super sticky.
Do yourself a favour and buy them both or else you're going to be waiting for a digitizer to come once you've started the repair process.
Hope this helps.

The newer supposed "thinner and stronger" Gorilla Glass thst is on S3 is nowhere near as scratch and crack resistant as the thicker original on phones like the OG Epic. This one can get those hairline scratches much easier thsn the original. Dont try the key scratch test on the S3. I will say this though, i have 2 i9300s. One new in box and the one i use has the back cover with the white flap that covers the screen. I dropped it 2x from 4 feet on concrete and only a slight scuff on the silver side bezel

It's the design of the gs3! The glass not only stands above the frame it's curved at the edges

Guys, for real, why does everyone think that gorilla glass is crack resistant? I mean, than bigger a screen gets than easier it can break, this is physics...
Gorilla glass more about to be scratch-resistant.
and in the case of OP I would buy a new screen and then be more careful with my phone. I just got a cheap silicon case and it protects my phone from everything without needing a screen protector.

I'd buy the digitizer for $18, worst case LCD breaks whilst separating and you'll need to buy the complete unit. Best case you fix it and save yourself $225 on complete unit.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
From my personal experience, i'd say you'd better buy the complete unit with the glass, the digitalizer and lcd pre-assembled on the frame. I've bougth a 2 week old GT-i9300 from a friend who had dropped it and had also the problem with the sim card blocked inside and just broke the sim card reader to take it out... As i said, i've managed to have it at a really good price and bought the lcd unit (samsung original on e-bay) and believe me, you will save yourself a lot of work as the gorilla glas is glued to the digitalizer witch is also part of the oled screen, witch makes it almost impossible to take the gorilla glass without breaking the rest, or, even if you manage to get it out, you'll never glue it again without any air trapped between the two... just look on ebay, i found mine for 163€.
I have the same problem as the OP. Dropped my SGS III couple of days ago and screen cracked though I still have 100% touch screen functionality. I am planning to get it fixed though have to say that incident has made me lose confidence in the sgs3. My sgs2 was such a solid piece of abuse taker. Over one year of use and dropping on concrete and worse on a number of occasion all without a scratch. Right now I am considering the HTC One X maybe it's using the old guerilla glass which seems more durable.

Case though not as ot of the Armor variations.. Might want to also add that the galaxy s2 used naked for all of a year. The latter device puts guerilla in guerrilla glass

[Q] Sony Xperia S Damage

Hi I have a motorola milestone and Im looking forward to buying this phone, the only thing that keeps me from doing it is the fact that i doesn't have gorilla glass and anything regarding the protection of the full body of the phone, so I just wanted to ask you guys that own this phone how you're experiences are so far? is the screen at least scratch resistant? anybody dropped the phone once?
Thanks

Had my S for over a month and in that time it has suffered alot of abuse with the worst bieng that i launched it across my kitchen as i tripped coming in the back door lol it flew at least 3 meters :silly: and landed face down but it still works perfectly its got a few battle scars in the plastic that wont polish out with mr. sheen and a couple of light but barely noticeable scratches in the screen overall id say its pretty tough. (I used to say that about the X8 i had but it fell out of my pocket while doing a flying kick and the screen died )
Screen not as strong as gorilla but still it is good. Should be fine imho

[Q] Digitizer touching the LCD

Hey Guys,
I replaced my S3's Glass as there was a minute crack on it..
My problem is i kept the phone inside my tight pair of jeans today and now there is dark spot in the center,
i found out that it is the digitizer touching the LCD , is there a way to fix this????. Coz i don't want any other problems with this STUPID Phone!! (Samsung's quality sucks these days!, My personal opinion my S2 was lot Stronger than my new S3(1year old )),
and how exactly did i find this? i tried lifting the edge of the glass a bit and TA-DA!!! its GONE!!!!!!!!!!.:laugh:
Could this be due to me holding a IPHUCK for 10 mins??!!!! or am i going LOONEY!!!
S3 screen is weak, S4 screen is even weaker -go read the complaints about broken OLED screens behind unbroken gorilla glass in the S4 forum.
Your issue is due to the repair you made, the assembly isn't supposed to be delaminated but replaced as a whole.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
Huh .... so is there a fix for this
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
I had this problem when I had my glass repaired by a local company.
Yes there is a fix, it is to buy a whole new front screen assembly.
It is this way because the special transparent glue (I forget its name) was not applied behind the screen and a UV light used to set it.
Look on ebay, I got a whole new assembly and its cheap and much better than a glass only repair.
U mean the whole thing == lcd+digitizer+glass?
Sent from my shiny brick!!!!!
Read the 'replaced as a whole' part of my reply, this means the screen assembly of all three parts.
