I think it's way to sensitive.
Sometimes when I move my finger pass the screen it presses the button. It doesn't happen all the time tho. Just 10% of my typing, which is also happening now.
Thank you for your time.

weird, the default touch sensitivity is normal. may be either its not suiting your taste or your previous mobile is les sensitive.
Feels alright to me, but apparently Gorilla Glass 2 being thinner helps increase sensitivity.

Maybe you're right, as I can from the N8. How ever when I try to touch a specific key ONCE it gives me doubled press. And I think this should not happen.

a lot of folk here in Thailand seem to get this problem too
they said it's like xperia sola floating touch but worse
I suspect batch product replacement coming soon
I've noticed that it's very sensitive too.
On the s2 people were saying the sensitivity is too low. Now ppl are saying its too high...

The OFFICIAL samsung said my hands were dry with caused extra static (in Thailand it's a bit cold and dry despite that it's a rainy season, maybe it's the air-con)
and that they recommended applying Vasline to my hands prior to use... which seemed to be pointless, that's a lil too much of "Design for Humans" don't ya think lol
I wish i could readjust the sensitivity like I could with my Acer Iconia Tab A500
Mine does the ghost pressing too sometimes. It isn't often, but my finger hovering over the display will activate it.

I tried the touchscreen with both latex and vinyl gloves and it works perfectly, so I guess it's really sensitive.
if you think it's very sensitive for you, then you can apply screen guard to reduce the touch screen sensitivity.
Hope this will help you..

already did.. not seems to thick enough it seems
Mine is also too sensitive. I noticed same symptoms like others in this thread after I applied screen protector prom PURO which is really really thick .
On the package it guarantees that it does not reduce touch sensibility... I guess they don't lie
I guess I need to find cheaper one

I only found gyro calibration and did that. I'm also on rom (Omega - ICS) but did not see anything on stock either. I remember on SGS2 there was option to calibrate where you had to touch corners and center.
It's not that annoying, at first I thought that it might be a feature - air touch
Or it might be that my screen protector does the opposite - increase sensibility. In any case I need to get new one because this one is not clear (its a bit matte) and colors don't show up correctly.

soory 4 such a novice question but i just cant find this option, how can i decrease the tou?ch screen sensitivity on this thing
There's no setting in android that allows you to do that. I believe that was a feature that was prevalent in the early generation touch screen devices when the touch screens were all capacitive touch screens. If you use a home replacement app, depending on which one, you can adjust the scrolling speed and have the illusion of decreased sensitivity.

you cant with the technology of the screen because it doesnt sense your finger by pressure, it does it by heat

It's not heat. It's not pressure either though. When you touch the screen, you distort the electromagnetic field. It's a capacitive touch screen.

As stated above, pressure should have nothing to do with it. Dumb question, but you aren't wearing gloves or anything over your hands are you?

Nope, and my old Droid X is working fine.
I've noticed that the touch screen will sometimes press before I actually touch it. How can I decrease sensitivity. I'm using CleanRom Developer Edition 1.2.
Yes! I've had this same problem too! No answer for you, though.
I believe I've had this all along, on GB, ICS, and a variety of ROMs, so I'm afraid it may be a hardware issue. But, I'm no expert...
Thanks. Definitely no reason to go to the GNexus (Ugghh). I've heard that screen protectors help so I ordered some to try that out.

Surely there is a way to fix this. Maybe in the build.prop?

Use a screen protector. Helps.
Ordered screen protectors, they come in Monday. This is really the only issue I have with the device. If it's something that the phone just ships with I'm fine with it. If not, I'm wondering if I should return due to a faulty touch sensor.

I have set up many rezounds for our company and the strange thing is that this oversensitive behavior you are reporting is happening with completely stock phones as well. I've noticed it with 3 different Rezounds. Very strange behavior indeed. Complete resets of the phones doesn't seem to help. I rooted one and did a complete reflash of the phone and the problem went away. It's almost like the flash went wrong somehow, but very strange to see from a phone that came directly from Verizon brand new.
Personally I like the sensitivity. I would rather a nice light touch be registered then having to mash my finger on the screen. Makes typing easier.

It's not a light touch. I've checked, it sometimes registers just above the touch screen.
I have yet to have the sensitivity be a problem... Maybe yall came from different phones than me
Sent from my Dinc... I mean Rezound
My rezound is completely stock/ not rooted/flashed or anything, I've noticed this since the day I got it in Nov. sometimes my fingers can be a few mm above the screen and it registers a touch. sometimes it doesn't bother me but sometimes if my finger is slightly above the search button and it registers it while i'm trying to do something else, it's pretty annoying
Stock, Rooted...
I've never seen this issue. The screen is very sensitive, but not any different from my previous phone (Orig Droid Incredible).

Same. The sensativity is more like the iPhone. I hate to say it, but I loved the iPhone for that. I used to type so fast. Then I got my first android phone and had to slow down because it didn't seem to always register my input. The rezound I can type really fast again.

I agree with this as well. I do notice it's way sensitive. I remember a few times where it registered a touch and I completely swore I never touched the screen. Anyway it doesn't bother me one bit.
I don't know if its just me but i feel like my L9's touch screen is a little bit out of sensitivity? I come from a Huawei Ascend G600 that i sold two days ago and bough this the next day. Sometimes i have to push the bottoms a little bit harder than usual, before i just had to lay the finger on the screen (and it works sometimes) but most of the times, i do have to push my finger on the screen for it to work (not that hard but in my opinion it shouldnt be like that)
Pardon my shty english. Just wondering if this is only me or every phone is like that.

The touch sensitivity leaves much to be desired if you are running ICS but JB improves it and overall smoothness.

Oh, i see why mine is like this now. Thank you so much!
My new Xperia Z2 touch screen sensitivity seems to be too sensitive. I applied Sony Xperia Z2 Screen Protector GLAS.tR NANO SLIM and it is very good one. The problem is the screen registered finger hovering as a touch!! I don't even touch the screen, just hovering it, it seems to press by itself. By using Style Cover Stand SCR10 - Sony for Z2, it get even worse. The screen touches the cover while I am walking, sometimes it changes music and calls someone too. This is very hard to use. While I talk on the phone, the cover touches the number and sometime touches at End Call. I have checked the Glove mode, and it is always Turned off. I asked Xperia Care, they suggested that, I need to turn off the Glove Mode, and turn off, Double Tab to wake. I did them, but the issue is still occurred. I have updated firmware to the newest one, the problem is still occurred. Has anyone encounter the same issue as I have? If you have, can you solve it? if so how to do so?
Please help me.
Thank you very much
You could try going to settings > accessibility and then at the bottom change touch and hold delay to medium or long. Might make a difference.
Thank you very much for your suggestion. i will try it =]
Do you have ever have this issue before? i just wonder that, this over sensitive is due to the screen itself, or the glass protector

I've had it were I've accidentally exited apps or tapped on something by mistake as the screen was too sensitive. That setting seems to have made a difference though...unless I'm just more aware of the problem so make a conscious effort not to leave my fingers hovering over the screen. I've not tried the phone without a screen protector so can't say if this has made any difference or not.

I'm using stock launcher. Yeah I hope Sony fixes this with their next update - and hopefully they are aware of it.
Check you don't have "gloves mode" switched on. I had that on and I think it increases sensitivity so when hovering it registers. I've since turned it off and seems to work fine. Settings, display, glove mode.

Hi, Have you tried with screen protector yet? do you have screen sensitivity issue like mine?
Thank you very much
Hey mate sorry I forgot to get back to you.
Yes I'm using the protector ans no, no issues at all. Everything's fine.
Hi - If I touch the screen *very* gently, it doesn't register as a touch.
Does anyone else have this? If your P9000 is OK, please let me know.
Most of the time it's OK, but it's extra annoying when I'm swiping a long word which gets split into two smaller words. I do have the screen protector on - Obviously I don't want to remove it just for testing, but I realise it might be affecting sensitivity.
Over the years I've had ~5 phones with capacitive touchscreens. This is the first I can touch without it the phone 'realising'.
Thanks, Richard
PS - I've enabled the 'Show touches' in Developer options. The accuracy is fine, it's just it's not quite sensitive enough.

Thanks NX82. That's good news and bad news !

Yes. my screen also less sensitive with the screen protector, but i dont want to scratch the phone, so i rather use with the screen protector.. for me the less sensitive areas are around the edges of the protector.. but i can live with this problem. I know if i remove it gonna be okay again.. maybe possible to put a thinner folie on the screen and thats gonna be better. the protector glass is a little bit thick. probably this is the problem.
I also experienced a reduction in sensitivity after applying a glass screen protector. Without it phone always reacted okay, but with my protector the first miliseconds of my touch aren't registered it seems. I have more trouble typing and sometimes swiping lags. I have adjusted my usage and can live with it now though.
Yes a screen protector can make it less sensitive. But all I did was download this : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=br.shop4apps.touchscreenbooster.com
And then set it to super optimised and make sure it runs at boot and problem solved.

Well see how it goes and hopefully it does the trick. The p9000 glass isn't anything special. Don't want it to crack or scratch so we need something to protect it.
I have tried several touch calibrarion apps.
It seems like the restart is necessary to apply the new settings.
for me this application gave the best result:

same here : no effect
I have the same problem but all the above apps don't work for me. I will try to swap my screenprotector for another one tommorow. Hopefully this works.
I've found out/realised that the bottom of the phone is less sensitive than the top, so compare the top and bottom half of the screen.
The top of the screen is *almost* as sensitive as every previous smartphone I've owned or used (mainly Samsungs, HTCs and various iPhones). I can just touch the screen without it registering, but only just.
The bottom of the screen is a lot less sensitive. When selecting (tapping) things, it prob wouldn't be much of an issue, but when I Swype using the 'keyboard', I get dropped letters.
A screen protector reduces sensitivity further (a glass one more than a flexible plastic one, from my experience)
R.
