HI Folks,
Here are my Phone Specs:
Model : GT91000G
Android Version: 2.3.6
Baseband Version:I9100GDDLK1
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7 [email protected]#2
Build Number: GINGERBREAD.XWLC2
Rooted : No
Last week, I got a message that my Device Memory(2GB) is low and ~30MB was left. I hardly had 10-15 application and biggest was Sygic. So i did a factory reset and bingo I had ~1.8 GB left.
Then I observed a strange thing:
When ever I connect to WIFi, my Device/system Storage goes up by atleast 4-5 MB so if in a day I am connecting 5 times.. ~20MB gone.
I have searched lots of thread and I am not able to find any answer.
Can anyone please guide me how to manage this issue. My phone is not rooted.
Any solution without rooting? I do move application using APP2SD.
As per forum moving to Official ICS .. this issue is solved but then there is RAM issue of only 687MB on G models.
Thanks
Regards

I have already done that..the problem start , when i start wifi.thats when System memory goes up by 4-5 MB every time.
I can free up system memory by doing factory reset.but then install everything and problem will still be there..I am looking for any other option...
Its a non rooted phone.
Is there any thing called temporary root without flashing anything such as insecure kernal etc..i.e. Rooting without flashing and then how to unroot if not flashed.
Thanks

Dear All
Today i faced a strange problem which i believe it is a hardware problem .
1st of all , when i am copying files to my Internal USB memory , My gs2 freeze and strange faint crackle sound from the speaker !
Then mobile restart. now wen it restart you will see a random green dots around the the S mark.
it is not a died pixels ! i am sure!
PS: i dont have MicroSD card . just the 16 GB internal Memory !
PS: i can open downloading mode
PS: i can open Recovery Mod.
PS: System is " NOT Rooted "
when mobile start up , it will try to scan the media storage , at this point the mobile is freeze and turn off !
now i tried to format the Internal USB before system reach the Scan point.
i did the format , but if i put any file of images in the USB storage , it will freeze.
and with a normal use after 2 min , mobile freeze , restart , and stock on the boot loader , some time a can not even start the mobile , i need to wait 15 min and then try to restart it.
i update the frameware zilone of times , and Now, am on LPS ICS .
When the mobile start installing the programs ! it Freeze
i did format (webe) cash and user data , same thing ,
i did install android
2.3.3
2.3.6
and now ICS 4.0.3 LPS
same thing !
When i start the phone it just reach the ICS home screen , Scan the media , freeze , die !
ps: the phone is kip getting warm !
please advice !
remove external card and sim ,try booting an c if it works, then only wiv ur sim in try to boot...
Backup data and Factory reset is always the first step .
jje
Sounds like hardware failure to me, no amount of factor resetting will stop that. I would get in contact with a samsung service centre if I were you.
try to full wipe, even your stuff, the flash to stock via odin
i did format (wipe) all things in my mobile .
and as i told i did reinstall a stock android
and i told that i dont have any MicroSD card .
any way is there a way to permanent unmount the internal storeg and use a MicroSD card instated ?
had the same problem, after updating to ICS (UK Sim Free). I just did a hard reset and now it seems to be working ok. Though the phone does stop responding at times, when I try to copy files. But if i leave it be for a 5-6 mins, it starts working again.

u have got partition problem check with pit & partition
Hey guyss.. I have a problem. I flashed soak test ota zip via twrp recovery..now when i install any app, it consumes a lot of space in the internal memory.. For ex if i have 400 mb used after installing lollipop ota, nd if i flash super su zip then it consumes around 60 to 70 mb of internal memory.. Moreover if i try moving apps to sd card only a part of it is transferred.. Like if i move a 40 mb app to sd card 20-25 mb goes to sd card nd rest is in internal memory. I just want to ask that whether it is a bug or somethng, cuz it never happens on cyanogenmod 12.. Plzz help..

try to reset your phone ( to delete all kitkat unused or leftover files as when i flash lollipop ota i got 1.43gb free space )and as lollipop uses ART runtime instead of dalvik which uses more space for app installation as byte code is compiled at installation time and not at runtime as dalvik runtime for more info please refer to this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/dedicated-runtime-thread-art-vs-dalvik-t2516646

I heard at the nexus 4 forums that wiping cache and reset via stock recovery solves the issue.. Will try it today.. Thankss for ur help buddy
same issue
I am having this exact same issue. I flashed the soak test rom and i have factory reset my phone for like six or seven times. Still the low storage issue comes up eventually. Also the first reboot after factory reset after lollipop has never been successful. It gets stuck on the M logo and eventually i end up long press power button. After that it boots fine.
My issue is that internal storage keeps getting low and lower. When i reset i had 540 mb and now with exact same apps is around 180 mb. Which repels any app update due to insufficient storage. Junk cleaner Doesn't helps much. To keep off the constant low storage notification i am forced 5o manually delete data from messenger app from facebook which is always around 50mb. Damn i am pissed on lollipop.. i wish i could roll back but that process is way too complicated and also i am addicted to the lock screen notifications and oter features of lollipop.. so any substantial help would be greatly appreciated.
Its because of the cache on art
If you wipe the cache you will get some free space but that space will again fill up as and when you start using the apps.
So instead of freeing some space if you are rooted get link2sd or use xinternalsd with xposed otherwise switch to kitkat.
in my moto e2 xt1521 internal data got filled up. i have only 1.9 gb of data but almost 4.2gb is filled how to fix it,i also tried reseting the phone two times from recovery mode but it was not solved, its all happened after marshmallow update 6.0, my phone is a 4g variant model can anyone pls tell me how to solve it ??and i think this problem arised after making my samsung sd card class 10 as internal and make it portable after some time ,i dont know wat to do i cant install many apps ,pls help to solve it (sorry for the bad english
Are you using a stock version? In anyway, factory reset would never help u with storage problems. Maybe you have bigger files in ur internal sd card(Check if there are file in internal/android/data/ as sometimes apps store their data in that directory). If ur phone is rooted n u r on stock then try removing bloatwares. Also if u want to solve the sd card being internal issue....try changing the ROM instead of factory resetting.I hope ur problem gets fixed soon.
How to go to back to lollipop version and I'm not rooted my phone pls tell me how to go back to lollipop in steps
Hey everyone
Here's what's happening ... I have an Samsung Galaxy SM-J500FN 2015 model phone,
a while ago I rooted it (back then it was under Android v5) ... I wanted to tweak some settings but I did something terrible, I played with KNOX.
Apparently KNOX and root don't go well together, my phone wouldn't boot anymore (rebooting loop).
Anyway, it was nothing, I just used Odin and a fresh new Official ROM (Android Marshmallow v6.0.1) and my phone was working again.
But now I discovered something, my phone is supposed to have an Internal Storage of 8GB, and that's the amount my memory settings show, but something was wrong with that, so I searched and after some time I understood that even though it said 8GB, my true storage was 4GB.
(More exactly I had 8GB but 4GB were constantly full, not even used by the system).
After a day I understood what might have happened :
My older ROM that has crashed wasn't erased when I flashed the new ROM, so now half of my Internal Storage is occupied by default meaning that I have two partitions on my phone (similar to when you install Windows and Linux on one PC).
But I cannot find any way to erase/reset my phone totally to get back those 4GB of memory.
If you have some applications, tricks, advice of some sort that could help me, I would really appreciate
Thank you for your time.

Hi, how are you sir.
Ok, first thing you should know, that if your phone is labeled as an 8GB phone then you will only get 4GB no matter what you do, now there is no way that there are 2 roms on one system partition, what may be taking the space could be old data from the old rom like in /android folder and could possibly also be media files from apps that was installed in previous rom like Facebook photos, WhatsApp videos, pics, and voice messages...etc, installing stock rom with Odin doesn't erase any files, but it completely replaces the rom in system partition with new rom.
Okay I see, thank you.
But still, I've explored that 'Android' folder a few times, checked photos, documents, everything ...
Now what I don't really understand is this :
You will only get 4GB no matter what you do

.
Why is that ? Isn't there a way to access this memory ?
BTW : I didn't flash with Rooted Stock ROM, I used an Official Android 6.0.1 ROM from Samsung's Website
EDIT : My phone when started in Recovery Mode first says "No Command" with the Android Red Error logo, then opens the recovery mode like there never was no error involved ... That's one the things that made me say that my phone definitely had some issues with my older ROM.

the reason why you will get 4 only is because the 8GB includes system partition, data partition, cache, preload (if there is one) in addition to the space taken from the formatting, it's pretty much the same like when you buy a 8GB sdcard and you get only about 7.3GB, or when you buy a 16GB phone and you only have 11.5GB for media (my case..), or when you buy a 32GB phone and you find about 8GB already taken from the phone and you get to use about 23GB for media files (my dad's case and you'll notice that in any other 32GB phone), that's what i meant, you also can check any 8GB phone and you will find that he only has 4GB for media...i hope i explained it in an easy way.
in my case i have an s2 with 16GB
i only have 11.5GB for media, and there is 512mb system partition and 512mb preload, and 2GB data partition, and small cache partition.., so that makes it about 14.5GB in total, the missing 1.5GB is due to formatting as far as i know, same as the sdcards thing i said earlier..
p.s: those partitions are unaccessible by default, they are hidden from the user, only way to access them is by rooting the phone and using a root explorer.
Yes I knew about that, but I never knew it took so much place
Thank you for your answer, I guess my phone is totally normal
