Hi
I detected in the last few days that my battery drain is very fast from 100% to 70%, an d slows than down from 70% to zero.
IS there something I can do against that? or is this just a normal behavior from this batteries.
I calibrated the battery 2 days ago (charged to 100% then deleted the battery file, and charged uninterrupted to 100% during the night.

try charge batt to 100% and take out battery for 5mins.
Hmm, Thanks for the fast reply.
I will try that it out, but how should that change my problem? I mean what will change ?

Hi all, i was wondering this about the battery calibrations.
I read somewhere that doing a battery calibration is some software-thing and not the battery-hardware-itself thing (you know, batterystats.bin).
So... if it is as I said, If I have two galaxy aces, one calibrated and the other dont,
If I fully charged them, will they drain all the battery at the same time? (assumming that everything in them are the same).
And another question... if the battery info keep saved on batterystats.bin, could I use someone else batterystats.bin already calibrated ? (i'm talking about someone with the same rom I have (coderom, flash, gingerreal, etc etc..)
That's it
thanks in advance.

I don't think you can use other batterystats.bin . You need to recalibrate your own .

Since you have 2 Aces why not try it?

"..If I have two galaxy aces.."
I'd say the un-calibrated one will die faster. IMHO
Oops misread. Battstats are constantly changed by the system anyway. You will be able to replace one from another phone but it may be altered to your charging.

the 2 aces are going to die at the same time but one is going to show a gradual battery % decrease and the other one is going to show % jumps... i think
in example: using an app with a battery drain of 10% per hour
calibrated: 10min 99%, 1hr 90%, 8hr 20%, 10hr 0%
not calibrated: 10min 93%, 1hr 88%, 8hr 5%, 10hr 0%
thats what i think...
i don't think any calibration will make your battery last longer, it will show accurate %...
again.. thats my personal opinion

That's what I tought, because you can charge the devices, both of them off, The charge should be the same, and while they are on (unplugged), the drain should be the same, only that the % differs. But, you never know what people know, about that you don't know... or something like that. hahaha
There's one thing I wanna ask you guys; if the battery calibration got messed up, how far will the differences goes?
I mean, could the system tell us that we're low on battery while actually we are not?
Installed Cyanomod... charged the battrey to full 100%, calibrated and after 30sec, the battery goes down to 75%...

It wasn't charged to 100%... the phone shows that its charged... but its really not... so after phone shows that its 100%, keep charging for an hour more... then calibrate the battery... you'll see the difference....
Hey everyone,
I'm using the "Battery Calibration" app to calibrate my GS2 battery, and I have already charged it to 100% and wiped the "batterystats.bin" file, and completely discharged it.
Now I have a question about charging it back to 100% - I'm going to be charging it while the phone is turned off, so how long should I leave it on charge before I can be absolutely sure it's at 100%? Some posts suggest 24 hours, while others say overnight or even 8 hours or so is completely fine and enough for the battery to become fully charged. Also, I don't need to "bump charge" to properly calibrate it, correct? I just let it charge to 100% now, and then I can use it as normal, right?
Thanks in advance for your help!
8hours ish should take you upto 100%
And after its upto 100% its fine to use it as normal.

...yep...when you see on the display (by clicking home button) the battery icon showing inside 100% then you can unplug your phone and use it normally...battery have a limit of charge just to avoid corruption so when they are at 100% they automatically stop to receive more charge...that's why I think is useful to leave the phone in charge more than he need.

Now, it has been about 3 hours since I put my phone for charging, turned off, at a completely discharged 0% battery (I even tried download mode before I put it for charging, to make sure it was completely discharged), and now the charge meter is showing 100%...
I'm pretty sure that 3 hours is a VERY short time to charge to 100%... I haven't taken it off the charger yet, so would you recommend waiting a few more hours (maybe 5 more hours?), or is it fine to just take it off the charger right now?
I'm worried a bit now, because 3 hours seems an extremely short amount of time to charge a battery that is 'supposed' to run for 18+ hours...
Well, I just read that 3 hours is about normal, so thank you for your help!

Firstly, there isn't such a thing as battery calibration with Lithium batteries. Since there is NO MEMORY EFFECT.
Lithium batteries are not Lead Acid batteries, it does not need 8hr to 16hr trickle charge.
Charging is controlled by BMS, there is no such thing as Charging past 100%. So when it is considered 100% by the BMS (Voltage), the BMS will stop charging it.
Lithium batteries gets damaged when there is less than 10% charge, so emptying it to 0% is not a good idea. You cannot really extend Lithium batteries lifespan since it only has a 2+1/2 yr lifespan, 2000 to 5000 deep charge cycles and around 2,000,000 micro charge cycles. It is better to charge anytime you want, as long as it does not go below 10% (Most electronic equipments will state 0% at that time).
Deep Charge Cycle, when close to 0% (10% charge left in battery) you can charge 2000 times back to 100% (depending on quality of battery)
Micro Charge Cycle, when roughly above 40%, you can charge 2,000,000 times back to 100%.
Soooo..... would you like to limit battery charging cycles to 2000 or prefer that you can charge it 2,000,000 times?
Ive been having a weird battery issue. my battery gauge will say its at 15% or whatever it says at the time. ill plug it in and like 10 minutes later it will say 100% battery is fully charged. Obviously its not 100%, even when I charge it overnight, when I unplug it itll be stuck at 100% for like 2 hours then all the sudden drop to like 85%. im lucky if my battery lasts 12 hours now , same thing has happened on different roms. Do I need a new battery?

I'd try a different ROM/Kernel, see if that makes any difference (after clearing batterystats in CWM).
If that wouldn't help, I'd say battery is ze dead.

tried differents and kernels, and wiped battery stats guess my battery is done
try "battery calibration" app. it helps me a lot, and keep my phone running longer. i can last almost a day with medium use.
i have also tested with on screen non-stop (wifi + online game that require wifi, brightness roughly around 30%, medium volume, with whatsapp and talkbox in between), in conclusion, i can run for 4hours plus straight with sufficient battery left. i never push it through, i think i can go for 5 hours if i want to.
battery calibration app can be found in play google store
Worst battery life evah!
Im having issue with my battery as well, I plug it in a electric outlet for about an hour last night and when i saw the charge, it was only like 49%!!!!
And today, before my meeting it was like 22%, after an hour of meeting, BOOM! EMPTY BATT! What I only did was surf and checked my calendar!
It charge slow! And its draining fast!
something happened to my battery before last month, when i charge my fone it says 88% then suddenly after few mins 1 or 2 it become fully charge, but when i unplug my charger it comes back to 88% again, i tried some apps like battery calibration and also i'm wiping the battery stats in cwm everytime i flashed a new rom and it helps my battery charge in normal and accurate level...i'm using also cpu spy to checked if my fone is going to a deep sleep. now my battery lasts for 1day 11hrs with light usage. but for heavy usage i've got 40% after 4hrs of continious hd gaming.
im using this Battery Calibration and the directions say to "let the device fully discharge after calibration, and then charge it to 100% without break"...and the voltage meter should read around 4200 mV on a normal battery.
i read that my battery should be calibrated after any new rom i flash? has anyone else done this or does it? i just calibrated it and am on the part of the process where right after i "calibrated" it, im supposed to discharge all of the battery (where i am at now) and then after that im supposed to fully charge it again. but i noticed that my battery (after i pushed the 'calibrate' button) has reached down to 30% alot faster than before the calibration. is this only because its still "learning" since this is its first full charge after the calibration and itll be faster after it learns? or should i not even have bothered and this is just a waste of time? thanks.
ps. and during the first run after the calibration (during the "learning" part) is it ok to turn on all my features so my batter will drain faster so i can finally recharge it and be done with it or just let it drain thru how i would use it normally? cuz the app says after i calibrate it, then let battery discharge completely and then charge it one last time.
I actually used this app and it did work for me. My battery lasts much longer. It shouldn't matter how its drained.

Hello this is my first xperia smartphone. I'm impressed about the battery of z2 but I have question about battery life, I have auto brightness auto, Sleep 30 seconds, mobile data on, nfc off, Wifi Always on, stamina mode off. I looked into may battery usage and the screen usage is using 62 percent? When you charge your z2 phone is it necessary to make the battery turn to 0 percent before charging? Mine was I discharged it to 0 before charging it but when I read about the battery Li-Ion that it doesn't need to be discharged to 0 is this ture? .How to make the battery life of z2 last longer but not damaging the battery itself? Any tips? Thank you!
You shouldn't discharge your battery to 0%, never! Personally i never discharge my phone under 10%, when it is 14-15% i plug in the chager.
It's bad for your battery life to discharge it to 0%.

So I think I damaged the battery of my phone. After I read about that Li-Ion battery I never discharged my phone to 0. I have bad experience about my HTC One M7 I always discharged it to 0 and now when I fully charged the htc one m7 to 100 percent it will drastically go down to 92 percent after 5 mins.
Might be, so never discharge your Z2 to 0%. 10% should be the lowest.

Thanks buddy! But the screen usage of the z2 is eating the battery of 62 percent :crying:
I don't think so you damaged battery discharging battery to 0% once, moreover it was "user 0%", battery had some energy inside. So keep in mind that optimal for battery is work between 40 and 80% but of course it is not very convenient.

Wait.. obviously "Screen" usage takes up the most percentage on a phone because you're using it? Judge the battery overall when you reach from 100% to 15% or so.
I'm pretty sure you have no idea regarding the battery usage, you should take your time to read and understand it. :good:
60% used by screen is good, that means there aren't any apps in the background eating your battery

It is normal. The screen takes a lot of the battery. My SOT is between 60-70% battery drained.
