I've got the Sprint car dock with the LTE Evo and was wondering if there is a way to modify what is on the home screen for the phone when it's actually in car mode? For example, for the internet radio button it uses Tunein, I'd like it to be Pandora.
I can't seem to find a menu button and long presses on the icons don't do anything.
Jumping in to home someone finds an answer.
No, you cannot change anything.
But there are other car apps in the market you can use instead.
I use Car Dashboard Pro.

So i have the official 2.2 update, and also the car home 2 application that includes audio out support for the samsung car dock.
Im just curious if anyone has been able to stream pandora using this combo?
It seems the home button is disabled when using car home, so i cannot go back and launch pandora once i am using car home.
anyone else experienceing this issue, or perhaps have a solution for it?
thanks in advance!
i would say to load pandora first then go to car home and then if you need to change the station or something just drag down the notification bar and click on the pandora notification and then just press back when your done, simple. hope i helped
Hello, I recently purchased a universal car dock off eBay and I would like to be able to use car dock mode with Pandora and possibly other configuration by only pressing one button. Basically it would turn on car dock mode, turn on bluetooth, gps, pandora, and whatever else I would like to open by just selecting the car preset. Then reverse it all when I leave my vehicle. Does anyone know of the best app to do all of this with the Mytouch 4G's car-dock mode?
Thanks much!
Evo 3D when placed in car dock from Sprint goes into Car App automatically.
Any way to do -
1) Chage the GPS app - have CoPilot would prefer to use insted of Google Navigation.
2) Access music app to play music on phone.
Thanks for any ideas or solutions.
You can get a variety of car dock apps in the Market that allow you to add the apps that you want so you can run them while in Car Dock mode. The best one that I've found (and I've tried quite a few) is Car Home. It has a 30 day free trial and then is $1.99 if you want to purchase it. There are others that are free but ad supported.

Not sure if I understand your question, but here goes:
I have the Car Home app as mentioned by the previous post. You can select which app shortcut show up on the screen. It also has the option to scroll through multiple screens. Each screen to the left will have your speedometer, temperature, and compass heading.
When you place your phone in your dock, Car Home automatically launches. You press your music app shortcut (if you selected it to appear) and it will launch. Once launched, you can return to the Car Home panel by pressing the Home key on your phone. You can do that endlessly for every app in the Car Home panel.
So for instance on a drive to work I dock the phone. Car Home appears. I launch Google Music. It starts playing. I then touch the Home button on my phone. It returns to the Car Home while the music still plays and the Car Home panel displays my speed and direction. I get close to some gas stations. I launch the Gas Buddy shortcut and make my entries. I press the Home button to return to the panel. On and on.
Cool thing about Google Music is when i undock the phone, it shuts itself off.
And when you undock the phone, Car Home closes and returns you to your home screen.
Hope that helps.
Thanks for the responce!
That is excatly what I needed to know.
Sounds like the app I need.
I know this is a new phone, but I want to be able to launch the car app without buying the Motorola Dock from Sprint. I already have a car mount that works and a charger. Is there a way to launch the car app? Any ideas?
Thanks
I believe I read that there are two magnets in the car dock that facilitate making the app open up once you plug the Photon into the dock. I can't seem to find that post but mentions this, but you could probably simulate the Car dock app by using another program such as Custom Car Home and add the links to apps represented in the car dock app such as contacts, navigation, google search etc etc

Just received my car dock thanks to Sikety. I find that immediately docking the Amaze to the Car Dock it will launch HTC Locations.
This is annoying because you can't exit the app and your phone is in dock forever, meaning all calls made would automatically placed to speaker.
Has anyone figured out a way to resolve this without rooting their phone? When I dock it, I don't want it to launch anything.

I don't have the car dock, but I do have the desk dock. I know that when the phone is on dock mode, you can press the menu button to pull up settings for the dock mode. Maybe you can play with the settings there?
Got my car dock yesterday and I have the same problem as described above. There is no setting for disabling the auto start of htc locations. Within the locations app you have to manually close locations (probably you have to turn GPS on before or you won't come into the locations app)

Hmm, this is interesting. I've got the car dock as well, but I don't seem to have the HTC locations app on my phone. When I put my phone in the car dock, it puts the phone in "Car Mode", but didn't really do much else. I bought Car Home Ultra from the market, now when I put the phone in the car dock, it puts the phone in Car Mode and Car Home Ultra launches when the phone is in Car Mode. So, it works just like you'd want. I'm completely stock, which is why it's curious you have HTC locations and I don't.
