So, I apologize for the lack of quoted error messages, and I apologize that I have not been able to search the error messages and try and solve my own problem, my friend is a retard and cant seem to send me a text with the exact wording. Since this brick is supposedly my fault, I am posting this up, but if you cant help him due to lack of information, dont sweat it. /rant
My friend lives 1200 miles from me, and asked me to walk him through installing CM7. I emailed him some links, he put CWM on an SD using an image he had found on Youtube. I told him to backup his stock ROM, he didnt. Why? Because he is a moron. He couldn't get the Zip for CM7 onto the SD card with CWM, so he used 2 sd cards. One had CWM on it, the other had CM7 install file. He booted into CWM, then swapped SD cards to install CM7. Installs, everything is gravy for a few days.
For some reason a few days after he installed CM7 the nook failed to boot. (Team B splash screen, then a Black screen for 15+ mins). He booted it back into CWM using the SD card, and proceed to re-install CM7, still no luck. I didnt answer my phone, so he starts half reading threads and downloading things. He ended up trying to install and Acclaim update through CWM, (As well as god knows what else) and now no matter what he does his nook fails to boot, saying that's its trying to install files, then it fails, and says contact customer service. (Dont know the exact wording, sorry yall)
He never put CWM on internal, and can still access it through the SD card. Any suggestions yall?
Load up one of the stock roms from CWM, factory reset, wipe cache/divalk cache.
Sounds to me like his partitions have gotten nuked. Look up the thread from Celtic about fixing an NT stuck in CWM.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1513583
Hope you get things fixed for your "friend". If not your "friend" could take the NT back to Bn for a replacement. I had to and bn gave me zero problems. I even got a free charger by mistake
Hi everyone!
I have (what I think is) a huge problem on my phone and after looking in tons of forums for solutions I found that the people here seem to really be able to help me.
I'm new to android phones... So please bare with me...
So I bought this phone in second hand from a friend who was in need of some cash for college (I don't really like to buy used stuff but...), and it came rooted with cyanogenMod7 but I was having trouble cause the phone wouldn't recognize my sd card and I couldn't connect it to my pc so I tryed to change it back to its original settings...
Its a vodafone 845 (huawei U8120)..
A friend of mine tried to help and we found this recovery menu (Clockwork recovery v3) and he chose some format options (format boot, system and data) and now the phone is useless! It still doesn't recognize my SD card or my pc, I can get into this recovery menu again but cant seem to fix the problem!
Other than that all the phone does is show the initial hourglass forever...
I would be so gratefull if someone could help! Thank you in advance!

Well you wiped the phone, so there's nothing to boot into.
You need to put a rom on the root of the SD card (not in any folders). Make sure the rom is made for your device. Boot into recovery and flash the rom, you should have a working phone after that.
Thank you for you help!
Now the only problem that stands is that the phone doesn't mount my sd card... Its an 8gb kingston, maybe I should get one with less capacity? The previous owner used a 4gb card and she said she never had any trouble regarding that...
Although the phone specifications on the net say it can handle cards up to 16gb :S
Have you tried mounting the SD card in clockwork mod as the usb disk drive?
Its found under mounts/storage.

Ok guys, I've gotten as far as flashing the rom!!
Made huge progress in exchange for several hours of sleep xD
Now the only problem that stands is that when I choose the option "flash zip from sd card" I get this:
"E: No signature (242 files)
E: verification failed
Installation aborted"
And I'm lost again, yet soooo close to fixing my phone! :/

There should be an option somewhere to turn off signature verification. If you can find that option, toggle it off and try again.
You should try installing the original Firmware.Or Reinstall CM7
I got very similar problem. Have u tried to install different sd card. Maybe current one is broken like in my case?
Note: I do not have this device
See [GUIDE]All Huawei new&old phones-Install Stock Rom-Full Reset
Procedure:
1) Download stock ROM from HERE (im guessing you want Vodaphone UK)
2) Format your SD card to FAT32 (plug it into computer, right click on device, format, follow instructions)
3) Create the folder "dload" (without the quotes of course) on to the root (top level) of your SD card.
3) Extract the UPDATE.APP from the stock ROM and place it in "dload"
4) Power off your phone and put sd card in.
5) Power on by pressing POWER+RED_BUTTON+VOLUME_UP
If done correctly you will see a progress bar saying "UPDATING!"
Edit: this will reset the device to normal, however it will of course require a working SD Card. Try using a friends, try using your card in other devices (other phones, computers, etc).
To test SD Cards in your phone:
1) Insert Card
2) Boot into recovery
3) Go to Mounts & Storage menu
4) Plug device into computer
5) Choose "Mount sdcard over USB" (or similar)
6) If it shows up on the computer it is working, and you may as well use it to carry out the steps above
Note, if you are still checking for sdcard after resetting the phone, you will need to devise another method as the recovery will be replaced. For example use the storage menu in system settings, as this will show stats on the sdcard if it is readable.
My phone is working!
The problem with the SD card was that it was password protected, so I used another phone to disable the password, about the ROM, i just picked another one, I actually found it here on XDA! The celestial teapot, I really like it
Now all I want to know is if its possible to have multitouch on my phone?
And by the way, THANK YOU ALL for your help guys! You're awsome!

No problem, glad to help. Glad you got everything up and running too Multitouch is included in the kernel (at least on my device). If you can find a custom kernel for your phone, make sure it's compatible with your rom. I'm not familiar with your phone, so you'll need to do some checking on kernels. I'm not sure if multitouch is also a hardware limitation or not, so if you don't have multitouch at all it may not be possible. Kernels determine the number of touch points on my phone, if you don't have it at all then it may not be possible or there may be another mod for it.
If you can flash a custom kernel to achieve this, remember to do a nandroid backup first. Always do a backup when flashing anything. If they start to take up too much space, delete the old ones and just keep the most recent. Also remember to only wipe dalvik and cache when flashing a kernel.
Again, since I'm not familiar with your phone you'll need to do some research on these things first. The best thing you can do is read, read, and read some more. If you get stuck again, the good people here will always be able to help you out.
Okay, this is quite a long story, so I apologise in advance.
I decided to update my Galaxy S2 today to a newer ROM (SuperNexus 2) with the latest version of Android. I was coming from a CM9 build. I went through the usual process of backing up data and performing a full NANDROID backup via CWM Recovery, booted the phone again and transferred the backups to my PC via USB. These files transferred fine.
I then downloaded the zip files for the new ROM and proceeded to copy them to the internal storage of my phone. The copy dialog in Windows said that it was "discovering items" and stayed like this until I turned off USB transfer mode on the phone and removed it (ie. the files failed to copy) This happened a number of times and I didn't get anywhere. I have plenty of space free on the SD card, but just to make sure I started the phone in CWM again and formatted the SD card, and since I was going to do it anyway, the data and cache partitions too. When I booted the phone again, the files still wouldn't copy. I managed to copy a text file to the phone which was about 32kb but anything larger just seemed to fail.
I then went back into CWM and decided to partition the SD card, as I thought that it may have been corrupted somehow and needed to rebuild the filesystem. This however, caused even more problems as trying to format the SD card (In CWM) now just reported "Error, can not mount E:/sdcard".
Feeling fairly frustrated, I decided to download the Stock ICS ROM for the Galaxy S2 and install it via Odin, thinking that the problem was probably with CWM. The install went fine, but upon reboot the phone just stayed on the boot animation, no matter how long I left it. To make sure the install went smoothly I decided to try and reinstall the Stock ROM via Odin again, but now Odin didnt seem to get past the "Initializing.." stage.
So all in all, I now have a phone which wont boot into Android, cant copy anything to internal storage, and Odin wont seem to connect to.
I am convinced this is a software issue and therefore fixable. But maybe the internal storage was not working correctly in the first place. I have installed many ROMs before and never had such issues.
Anyone know anything about this or how I could potentially fix it? Thanks so much in advance!

I9100?
Can get to DL mode?
Can get to recovery?
Get an older Odin version and flash siyah just to see if it can be flashed again.
If you can get to recovery, Nuke Script is the way to go.
It sounds to me that maybe your memory is corrupt...
Not just yet, smells like soft brick.

First off, I am no expert so please be gentle! I previously rooted my old Samsung Galaxy S i9000 and installed ICS, which went OK, but the phone became quite slow and unstable. I was advised to install RemICS and downloaded all the zip files from this forum, and put them on the external SD card. I followed the developer's instructions to the letter, as well as reading everything I could find on the subject. The reset and data wiping went fine, but the installation of the ROM didn't. It halted with an error message -`ROM incompatible, trying to use an invalid partition'. I repeat that this is supposed to be the specific ROM for the i9000. The phone now won't boot into recovery. It stops with an orange Android logo and the text `Powered by Mackay Kernel'. It won't boot into download mode either. The Mackay screen stays there however long I leave it. I really need help from the ROM developer but I can't post to that forum. How can I either boot into recovery or into download mode? Is this ROM reliable? What could I have done wrong?
More info:
Presumably everyone is on holiday! But just in case anyone is reading, there is further news. The reason I could not start recovery mode was that the button sequence was different from what I had been told. It now boots reliably into Mackay (which of course is TWRP). I have found that the phone is unable to mount the partitions DATA and SYSTEM - they seem to be corrupted. Hence it has not wiped DATA, although TWRP wrongly reports success. I have tried updating the partitions to ext3 or ext4 but this fails every time. I could format the thing from Windows but that will wipe everything including recovery of course. I need a tool to repair these partitions, but have not found anything so far. This may well have been the reason the phone was getting creaky in the first place.
I have copied a new ROM to the external SD card, using a card reader, and inserted this into the phone. Strangely the TWRP file manager reports that EXTERNAL SD is a sub-folder of SD CARD, and that is empty. The file manager does not show the real external SD card. But the real external SD shows up on the Windows USB connection. What is going on?
When I try to mount the partitions, DATA and SYSTEM can't be checked - the other partitions (Cache, sdcard, and emmc are all checked).

Well for the benefit of anyone else with the same problem, I have managed to re-flash the ROM back to stock. It just took 3 days of intensive web browsing until I understood how to do it, and found software that worked - a lot of stuff out there has errors.
To summarise, the problem was:
1. Data and System partitions became damaged, so phone became unstable.
2. Attempt to upgrade ROM failed because of damaged partitions.
3. Could not boot phone into recovery or download because button combination was different from what I was told.
The solution was:
4. Boot into download mode using correct button combination.
5. Re-flash back to stock ROM and re-partition using Odin.
Yes, someone did tell me that, and I would have done that straight away if I could have gotten into download mode. We live and learn

4. Boot into download mode using correct button combination.
5. Re-flash back to stock ROM and re-partition using Odin.

Thanks this wa useful for me too.
Please please help me, I know it sounds pathetic but im nearly in tears due to how massive an impact this is having on my life!! :'(
Im willing to genuinely pay £10 via paypal to anyone who can help me fix my phone, I promise.
My phone is an LG Gt540.
I bought it 2months ago new on stock rom.
I managed to workout how to root it, and then upgraded its rom a few times over the next few days.
I eventually reached CM 4.2.1 rom, which is the highest available and worked well.
The phone has only 133mb internal space though, and so I needed something to increase the storage (using my SD card's space).
And so after many days of trying stuff I managed to find Mounts2sd.
I partitioned my SD card correctly (using mini partition wizard), and mounts2sd was working fine.
However 1 app didn't work, and so like an idiot I decided to re-flash the entire rom, wipe the sd-card, and try to restart from fresh.
However I endedup formatting; the SDcard, The SD ext, the System, and formatting everything in the menu in recovery.
The phoned bricked and wouldn't turn on.
But I managed to put my SD card in my laptop, have my laptop detect it as a 'device', and so was able to place the ROM file onto the SD card that way.
I then re-booted into recovery, and re-installed the rom.
I thought id fixed the phone, but clearly I hadn't.
And for the last 2weeks since, everytime I try to re-install mounts2sd, it just totally screws up and freezes up the phone.
I partition the SD card correctly each time, however when checking it in recovery it says SD-ext wasn't ever mounting (error mounting SD-ext) was the exact message.
I then tried to re-install a lower level rom (2.3.4 I think it is) onto the phone,
to then re-install CM 4.2.1 afterwards hoping that that would fix it all,
however the phone now wont detect the SD card at all!! :'(
The only way I could access the SD card normally is put it in the phone, plug in usb cable, it wont ever detect the SD card as a folder on my laptop like C: or D:, but if I use Mobile2go software from wondershare I was able to connect to the phone and access the SD card from there, and transfer files onto it that way.
However I now cannot do that, since when I try the phone will turn on but has error msg flashup every second saying something like keyboard has stopped working, and so it wont load the Mobile2go software, and so I cant connect to the SD card to put the 4.2.1 rom onto it.
I have tried placing the SD card into the laptop through the side-slot thing, and can access it via mini-partition wizard when I do that.
However the SD card is not being detected at all when I click on My Computer, and so I cannot place any files onto it! :'(
I seriously am so close to crying now, this has already had me in tears, as its so upsetting!
Please please can someone help me.
To summarise the things I need to be able to do (in order I guess) are-
1. Find a way of getting my phone to recognise and mount the SD card.
2. Find a way of getting my phone/laptop to detect the SD card and allow files (CM 4.2.1 rom) to be placed onto it so I can install that back onto my phone.
3. Find a way of being able to get the SD-ext to be recognised and detected as being mounted by the phone so that I can use Mounts2sd.
If anyone can help me do all those 3 things I will be so truly grateful and will happily pay £10 to you via paypal as a sign of my gratitude.
As this is just distressing and upsetting me so much.
Thankyou
Jessica

Hello and thankyou for your reply.
How exactly do I use 'kdz' to flash back to the 1.6 stock rom though please?
As I don't know any of these technical terms at all.
Anyone have their efs folder contents completely disappear?
This happened to me with my Sprint galaxy S 5 and I get a pop up saying the device is in " Factory Mode " and I need to switch it to user for it to work properly. The phone will boot with a stock recovery only but is useless due to the Factory Mode, it disables WiFi and causes numerous other issues .
Would greatly appreciate any input on this. It is all over the internet but nothing but no legitimate fixes after 30+ hours of research
Look at LG Swift GT 540 forum on xda, there are all tutorials, Now I cant post link for it bu google it "LG gt540 xda"
