Have you installed busybox?
You must download busybox installer from STericsson
You must install latest busybox inside the app.

Best way to get recovery is when your mobile boots at that time a blue or purple led will blink just after boot logo at that time just press vol+ or vol- key only once or twice it will lead you to cwm recovery

Hi!
I'm not sure I understand how to install recovery. When you say CWM you mean the Rom Manager app from play store, right? I try to install recovery with Rom Manager but it says device unsupported. What should I do?

Go to the market and download "Reboot Recovery" a free app.
Then there will be no need to use rom manager.
All this app does is reboots you into cwm recovery and nothing else.
Just one click on the app's icon is all it takes.
Here is the link for "reboot recovery" http://www.androidzoom.com/android_applications/reboot+recovery
You can also just hold the power button and select reboot recovery
if you are running any of the custom roms here in XDA.
Good luck!

[MOD][APP][MDPI/HDPI] Twodifferent CWM Recoveries and root access apps flashable

Requirement:- (1) Must be a rooted device and CWM recovery should be preinstalled. (2) Must be a 2011 Xperia family device.
As we all know that on locked bootloader or stock kernel whenever we install a new custom rom through CWM Recovery generally our Recovery gets wiped and we have to install recovery again. So basically this mod will helpful to those who have locked bootloader or stock kernel and often changes their roms like me, whereas on unlocked bootloaders we generally uses custom kernels which have built in recovery so it is not so useful for them. On locked bootloader or stock kernel the most simplest way to install recovery is by using XParts app (Thanks to pvyparts). Using this app is not a complicated process but it is quite lengthy process because first you have to download and install XParts app then it will download recovery for your handset. Also this all can't be happened without a internet connection and sometimes we don't have a internet connection, so we have to wait for working internet connection so that we can install recovery. One more thing sometimes we got bootloop after installing a new rom, then only way to overcome from this problem is flashing official Sony firmware through flashtool using laptop or computer, after that we have to again root and install recovery on our device. All this process is also quite lengthy and we can say to some extent it is complicated also. And sometimes we don't have all necessary things like laptop, computer, flashtool etc.
Therefore to overcome all these problems I have made two different CWM Recoveries as a flashable zip. Now whenever you install a new rom through CWM Recovery just after flashing the rom don't reboot, come back in recovery flash one of the recovery file which one you like. After flashing the file you have CWM Recovery and you don't need to install it. Now if you got a bootloop after installing a new rom then you can easily get into recovery and restore your nandroid backup. No need of computer laptop etc.
Here I have attached two different recovery files. The first one is CWM Recovery by pvyparts and second one is CWM Recovery 5.0.2.7 nAa-r2 by nobodyAtall. To get access in CWM Recovery by pvyparts just press volume down key rapidly when blue notification light blinks on Sony logo. This key combination may be different for different devices, for example on my Xperia mini (on ICS) the right key is power key whereas for Xperia neo V (on ICS) just hold the touchscreen when blue notification light blinks. Whereas on second one you can get into recovery by pressing volume down key when Sony logo blinks or gets brighter. Here I have also attached XParts app as a flashable zip, so that if you don't know your right key combination to get into recovery then you can use this app to get into recovery, just flash it in recovery, with CWM Recovery flashable zip. Successfuly tested it with Smart Xperia Rom, Revolution ICS HD, Viper Xperia and Zelly cream.
[ Note:- If u have rooted device but don't have recovery then you can install it manually by using root explorer just extract the files from zip and put them in their respective folders with permission( rwx r-x r-x).]
And in last a very special thanks to
pvyparts for his such a beautiful XParts
app and recovery for our 2011 Xperia
devices and to nobodyAtall for his
recovery too.
Instruction for installing:-
(1) Download the files and put them on sd card.
(2) Now whenever you flash a new custom rom through recovery just after flashing the rom do not reboot, just go back in recovery and flash one of the flashable recovery file which you like the most and enjoy.
[Now two different flashable superuser
apps are also included in this thread
which can be flashed through cwm
recovery, in case you have cwm recovery
but no root access.]
Link for Superuser-3.1.3 [46] flashable:- http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1901989&d=1366621086
Link for SuperSU-v1.04 flashable:- http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1901990&d=1366621086

Wow seem like this will actually meets my need. I have one question though? When I installed viper rom before, I got stuck at sony logo several times (you know when the logo just stuck there and not appear and disappear again), at that time of course I couldn't enter recovery. The other time when I got bootloop, where sony logo will appear and dissapear, I could get to the recovery so If I use this can I enter recovery when I got stuck at boot (not bootloop).:silly:

If you stuck there where sony logo just appears then you can't get into recovery but if you got bootloop after the sony logo appears and dissapears then you can get into recovery. By the way use latest version of Viper xperia with proper installation instruction because I have also faced this problem with Viper xperia but in latest version like 4.5, 5.0 it has been gone.
Thanks!

Specify the kernel...in some kernel...idk which...the led doesn't glow to enter the recovery...just keep pressing repeatedly vol down key...you should be able to access the recovery.

If you want to change the ROM go to the thread of the respective rom and see how you can do it. If you want to change the kernel. Download any ics kernel and flash it via flashtool. If you only want to get root back check the sticky threads in development about rooting. Since you have unlocked your bootloader rooting will be easier.

[Q] How to install custom ROM on Xperia Arc S ?

Hey guys. I have a Xperia Arc S and I really wanted to install this ROM ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1920207 ). But I don't know how to install custom rom. My phone is rooted I guess. I root my phone with Eroot (link - http://d-h.st/NUC). After that I installed root checker pro and it said your phone has been rooted successfully. Then I installed X-Parts to install CWM, but I failed to open the recovery mode. Yes I already tried pressing few times that volume down or back button. My android version 4.0.4 (4.1.B.0.587). Please help me to install this ROM.
Sorry about my bad English.
You need to install cwm, there are installers that can be found on the forum, try searching cwm for xperia arc s, I am pretty sure you will find one. Then using cwm you can install rom. Try the arc s forum for finding cwm for your device.

Hey bro thanks for your reply. I searched for ''custom rom for xperia arc s'' and I found something like this ''use the cwm installer kit from doomlord''.
I don't know what is that mean. And then I found something like this ''For locked bootloader, use Xperia Auto Installer. Can be download at market.
For unlocked bootloader, flash custom kernel with CWM like Stock ICS kernel with CWM, ArcKnight and Doomkernel.''
I'm not sure my bootloader is locked or unlocked. Is there any way to confirm this thing ?
Use cwm auto installers,
No need of unlock bootloader.
For unlock bootloader just ask me how?
