Yes, the i717 and most of the newer Android phones support micro sxhc. I have tried it on my HTC Amaze, Note N7000, Note i717, HTC Mytouch 4G Slide and Sensation without any problems. Just let the phone format the drive.
My Note isn't seeing the 64 GB card I just received today from Best Buy.

Make sure it is FAT32 format. You can check by sticking it into your computer's SD slot (with the SD adapter). Check in your explorer or finder.
Phones can only see FAT32 or FAT16 format. If it is NTFS then it must be formatted to FAT32 (btw, not the Win7 version exFAT. This doesn't work either)
Interesting.. I was told by my AT&T representative that 64gb would not work on this phone. Maybe it was because they had a 32gb in the store for like $125! Ridiculous price! I told him I bought a 64gb for less than $60 and he knew that they were gouging the prices of these things.
So Fat32 format and I will see the full 64gb? Will give it a try, thanks!!

Yes, FAT32 works on our phones.
Actually, you will get around 59.4gb to 60gb depending on the parity. That's plenty of space.

I bought a new kingston 16 gb micro sd.
Now the card says it is not bigger than 961 MB.
I have format the card twice fat and fat32 but it is still 961 MB..
What do I wrong, or is the card wrecked?
Thnx
If that happened to me, I'd take it back where I got it for a replacement.

If you got it on ebay there is a 95% chance you bought a fake 16GB micro SD card. I stay away from memory cards offered on ebay. Its a very good chance that it actually is a 1GB card made to report that it has 16GB when it doesn't. If you did get it on ebay hopefully ebay or paypal will be able to help you get your money back.
FAKE MicroSD was made in Kingston factory

Yeah, I just read about that today too, and remembered this thread...I'm guessing the problem is more widespread than just Kingston, and is the source of many of the SD card issues people are having...just like the one above (including the "ghost-source" cards found on e-bay).
Here's an article with a slightly shorter explaination of the same report in that link chompx2 posted above.
So can anyone suggest a good class 6 card? I don't want to get one that turns out to be a fraud. And as bad as that would be, it would be even worse if I got one that worked as advertised and then a couple months later dies and loses all of my data.
Any suggestions for a card that wil be reliable for the long term?
Try the A-DATA 16GB Micro SDHC Class 6. I just got mine from Newegg.com.
I swapped out my Sandisk 8GB Class 2. I noticed a big difference on speed. I got mine for $54.86 including tax. Shipping was free. Mine does not come with a SD adapter but I already have a couple of them. Newegg does have Micro SD cards with the adapters. Just search around. Hope this helps.

Was it from ebay? SD cards are one of the items that I've started just paying the small premium to get from a known-good vendor (i.e. newegg, etc), just because of how commonly they're counterfeited and find their way into "unofficial" sales channels like e-bay and so forth
In December 2009 I purchased 2x 16GB microSD cards from eBay China for my new HD2. They took 2 1/2 months to arrive and when I got them they both only showed as 1GB and the writing on the cards were flaking. I was so upset. I could have gotten an 8GB microSD locally for less than the price of one of those fake 16GB microSD cards. At the time I had the original HD2 2GB in my phone, so even the 2 fake cards were useless.
I tried the Paypal resolution process, and it did not work. I never got back the US$80 I spent. The seller has disappeared.
In 2008 I bought 16GB microSD cards from eBay UK when they first came out at US$110 each and those were real (one was lost in a car, the other sold several months ago), so this time I was looking for a deal. I lost big time on those fake cards.
I bit the bullet and bought a single 16GB microSD Class 6 (also from eBay but from Topram US) to hold out until the 32GB microSDs came out (and now until they get faster and the price gets cheaper).
Stick to 'reputable' sellers on eBay, do not make a purchase based only on the best price, or take the risk of not getting what you paid for.
Here is a good seller with a good deal
I bought a 16gb class6 card from this US seller a year ago. It has been a great card and I have had no problems whatsoever.
Here is a link to a Kodak (Lexar) 16gb Class 4 card for BIN $40.24 with free shipping.
http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-Lexar-Media...-/400143735721?pt=PCC_Drives_Storage_Internal
I very recently bought a 32GB microSD on ebay from a HK seller grandtechdigital.
The card was a fake. It does have a capacity somewhere around 8-16GB, though. I only ended up paying $31 US for the card, and the seller gave me a refund since it was not 32GB.
The trick with Ebay is to make sure you file your dispute in time if you are getting jerked around. If you wait too long, then you have no recourse. I could be wrong, but I think you only have 60 days.
Good Luck!
Does anyone know how to fix the bad card I have? I know that it needs to be reprogrammed to show the actual capacity. Right now, it looses files when I try to copy too much data to it.
Found another even better deal!!

will that even work with the 3d (or anything on the market right now?) its not simply a microsd card, its microsdxc which is a different format and requires the proper reader
Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think their is a device out that will support 64gb card.I believe the evo 3d will only support 32gb card. Anyhow I would wait just to much money for those cards. They will come down in price.
Max capacity is 32 gig. Anything more is out of spec.

There have already been people who bought them and they work in the 3D as long as you format the card with stock ROM.

Wrong. That was the case with SDHC. But SDXC is the new version that supports greater than 32GB, and as others mentioned it has been confirmed to be working with a number of Android devices, including the EVO 3D (do a search, as there's a forum member here who bought a 64GB microSDXC card and it works fine).
so whats the limit then?
If 32gb is not the limit, is 64gb definitely the max? I'm asking cause there are 128gb sdxc cards on sale for about $200, will those work? FYI, I checked on amazon/eBay and $200 for a 64gb seems like a ripoff, there's one on sale for $79

Make sure it's MICRO sdxc. I saw SDXC's for sale, but if you go to details and look at the physical size of it, it's not a micro card. I don't think there's a 128 microSDXC yet.

No, 64 GB is not "definitely" the limit. From what I can tell from the spec descriptions I've been able to find, there's no limit on the maximum capacity of card that the phone can handle beyond whatever can be made within the SDXC spec. As it's typically been compliance with the tech spec that limits the card capacity (old devices that couldn't handle beyond 4 GB cards were due to their inability to handle the SDHC spec).
The key here is to understand that we're dealing with microSDXC, and not the full (physical) size SDXC cards.

Hello,
Not that many of us Photon Owners are lacking for Storage, but this deal for the 32gb SD Card is so good that I figured it was worth bringing to everyone's attention.

There are multiple options, but this one is eligible for Free Shipping for Amazon Prime Members and I think anyone whereas some of the others have $4.99 Shipping.

Not to jack this, I got my 64Gb card from NEWEGG for $99.00!
Wow. Newegg has some insane prices. They are great in that they are Authorized Dealers for everything they sell, but their Return Policy is pretty brutal should there be a need for a Return/Exchange. With an SD Card, that is certainly not an issue, but on the AV Forum where I am a Moderator we have had Members with horror stories when AVR's come damaged or they simply want to Return it, That is a sick price for a 64gb SD Card.
I thought the photon could only take up to 32gb external storage? Is there a way to make 64gb work? I could easily max out my 32gb card if i put some more music on it.

There is instructions here someplace but, put card in reader (or slot on your desktop if you have one?) put reader in SDHC on computer and type:
format /FS:NTFS G:
replace 'G' with whatever drive your computere assigns the card. Go to media player and move your playlist, movies, whatever, then put in photon.
I bought one of these a couple weeks ago. Works great, but file transfers are kinda slow since it's a class 4.

Hello,
That looks mighty intriguing. SanDisk makes a quality product, but I must say that Samsung appears to shame it. As for the 64gb SD Card, I honestly thought it was for a different application and not for the Photon. It too thought 32gb's was all it could handle...

It should work. AFAIK, 64gb will even work with older phones like the s2. I think the difference with the s3 is that you can format the microsd card to use exFAT instead, which should be better than fat32 (ex: no more 4gb file limits)
