My ss galaxy tab 7.7 is just abount 3 mos old and I'm very happy with it. My only concern is I have already busted 3 chargers. Is it the low quality of the chargers or is there something wrong with my Tab. Thanks
I just got mine few days ago and the charger gets very hot, even smells like plastic. But it was the same with my old P1000, they get hot, they smell like burning but keeps working Maybe the voltage at you home (wall plug socket) is not consistent?

And very good for chargeing tabs.
I have tryed the ones for iphone battery packs and thay are very good for the 6800.
I use my stock charger on a surge protected power strip. It does not get unusually hot or smell like plastic. Maybe I have luck or it is the surge protection.

Does anyone know if the charger pack u charge to act as a charger for your phone (when not near electricity)is compatible with the note? I've seen them but i didn't know if they are compatible with the note since it has such a large battery. Also does anyone have a link to one?

I just bought this Anker one from Amazon. Reviews are almost overwhelmingly positive and I can confirm that it does work on the Note just as well as it works on my Atrix 4G.

Yup. It's just shy of three full charges for my Atrix, which has a ~1900mAh battery. Should be two charges for a Note, give or take a little bit.

I was going to get that one, but it was just too huge. I can slip the Anker 5600 I bought into a jacket or pants pocket with the cable and it's just fine. No problems with portability. Charge time is equal to what it'd be from an AC charger in my experience so far, but I only got mine a few days ago.

Haha...sorry. It was about half-charged when I got it (2/4 indicator lights) and took two hours to charge to four lights.
I got the mycharge ones since the cables are built in. 3Ah and 6Ah depending on my needs (1 or 2 nights). I like them even though they aren't 10Ah monsters.

Most portable USB battery chargers do not support the signals that allow the Note to go to high current charge mode. Pins 2 and 3 of the USB connection need to be shorted with a low resistance. The Note senses this and switches on a high charge otherwise, it will stick to a standard USB charge of less than 500ma even if the battery charger can put out 1A.
I bought a Scosche 5000 mah portable battery charger that comes with a special USB adapter designed for the Galaxy Tab. I tested it with my Note. With the adapter, the Note charges in under four hours. Without the adapter, it takes overnight to charge the Note even though the Scosche has a USB port that puts out 2.1A to charge an Ipad.
Staples sells the Scosche battery for $80 but there is a $29 online coupon that is good until 3/5/2012.
Hmm... I have a rechargeable battery from Monoprice that I use with my iPhone 4 but I haven't tried it with my Note yet. It will probably only charge the battery about half way. Monoprice has good cheap rechargeable batteries to charge on the go if anyone is looking for something similar.
After a few more days with the Anker, it charges my Atrix and my Vivid at least as fast as my AC charger. Probably placebo effect, but it honestly feels like it charges it faster.
Why not just carry a couple of extra batteries and get a charging station for them? Seems cumbersome to have to have one of these attached to your device when you need more juice, when swapping out a battery is quick and has an instant full charge...?

If you're gonna carry something anyway you might as well just have a single, spare battery instead of a power pack plus a cable. The Note has such an easy back to pull off and swap. Bing-bang-boom.

As someone who used to do this exact same thing with the captivate, it's definitely convenient to carry, however the interruption while you take off the case, remove the cover, replace the battery/reboot, can get annoying especiallky if you're right in the middle of doing something.
I'm getting ready to take a long plane flight, and I bought some battery packs from monoprice just now, with the intention of using one of them up front while I use the phone, so we'll see how that goes.

Note sure if it's just me, but the minute or so that my phone is down to swap the battery and reboot seems much more appealing and convenient than having a battery pack dangling by a cord from my phone for multiple hours while it charges, or keeps it charged.
Not to mention how many spare batteries you could buy for the price of one external battery pack.

I actually agree partially, however I just found out that monoprice.com sells 2800mah battery packs for like $13 each. I just bought three:

That said, I likely will still buy an extra regular battery that I can just carry in my pocket. The main reason I'm going with the external batteries is because I'm getting ready to go on a trip with 15 month old twins to europe, and I can use these external packs to power up both my phone, and my touchpad (Which I need for playing childrens shows)
Since I got my note 3 I've been charging it with my old AC chargers I bought on ebay which is a generic micro-usb charger (I got a couple of them laying around the appartment). I use my old chargers often because the samsung USB cable which was provided with the phone is always pluged into my desktop computer, and I didn't want to go trough the hassle of moving the cable all around the house to charge my phone.
Well anyway, so far I've notice charging times were pretty long(6-8hours), but I shrugged it off because I simply thought a bigger battery require longer to charge. But this weekend I slept off at my in-laws and I brought my samsung cable and AC adapter. I looked up with better battery stats and notice the charge time was around 3times as fast. (2hours or so for a 100% charge). Dammmn!
So why am I getting long charges with my ebay chargers?
Is it because they are cheap china product?
Is it because they don't have the USB3.0 port?
I'm thinking the USB3.0 has nothing to do with charging times if it's pluged with an AC adapter right? So my long charge time must be because of cheap products? Ok then, but if I want to buy additional chargers, or even a cradle for my bedside table. How can I know if they will have the best charge time? Am I forced to buy samsung branded stuff just to make sure?

The Note 3 should charge in just over two hours with either USB 2 or 3 cables. If you download https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.abmantis.galaxychargingcurrent.free&hl=en that will tell you the charging current. It should be 1200mA with the screen on and 1800mA with it off (trick is turn the screen off for 10s then back on and refresh and you should see 1800mA).
As long as the charger can deliver 1800mA and you are using a decent quality cable that should be all you need. Plugged into a USB port you'll only see 450mA on either USB 2 or 3.
Usually the ones that charge this quickly have an output of 2 amps. That is the output of the charger that came with the phone.

well i am wondering about how hot the turbo charger gets. i got my nexus second hand and don't have the original motorola turbo charger. i tried putting my samsung fast charger to it and it got extremely hot. hot enough to smell like burnt electronics if i smelled the actual wall plug. its output is 1.7a or 2.0a
i also have used a old htc wall plug to charge and it got pretty warm. not anywhere near as bad as the samsung. it has output of 1.0a
i just ordered a charger off ebay and hope i don't have the same problem. it isnt motorola but it asked what phone u were using it on when i bought it and i selected the google nexus 6

No its the charger that gets hot enough to smell like that. The phone feels a little warm but noting out of the ordinary. I'm trying to figure out if I am gunna damage the charger or cause a electrical problem. Trying to figure out the best alternative to the stock charger

There are a bunch of qualcomm certified quick chargers on Amazon in that price range. I see nothing in that ebay listing specs you linked to that even indicate it is a quick charger. Look into Tronsmmart or Aukey for example.

I know I've never used a charger that got super hot. The phone of course but the charger itself? Nope.
You should not use a charger that is getting as hot as that. If you aren't careful, you are going to set fire to your house.
It's not unexpected for a charger to get warm. I mean, it IS basically acting like a resistor so that you're not pumping house current directly into the Micro-USB port. But if the charger is getting that HOT that it actually has that electronics burning smell.... yea, i wouldn't touch that even with my second cousin's neighbor's friends 5 year old phone that hardly works anymore (metaphorically speaking...).
I always thought that charging this tables takes forever.
Then, a few days ago I used an USB multimeter and found that using the original 1.5A Sony adapter and the original cablet, the tablet is charged just at 1.0A rate.
Then I tried with a thicker quality USB cable and the charge rate increased to 1.5A (+50%!), using all the power the adapter can give. The charge rate slowed down to 1.0A while approaching full charge but overall the charge process is much faster.
I did the test with the tablet powered on. Tried with or without the magnetic charging stand and I got the same results.
The original cable it's not damaged so I suppose the slow charging speed is intentional.
Anyway, I think I will continue to use the thicker cable so my charging times will be shorter, I suppose it's safe to charge this tablet at the full charging speed the original adapter can give, what do you think?
I never used the original cable that came with mine, I had a 6' Anker cable to spare so I used it instead and I thought it charged pretty fast, much faster then when I use the magnetic dock.
But I'm lazy, so it goes on the magnetic dock 99% of the time because it gets a full charge sitting on it anyways.
And there are kids.
Can't afford to lose the water tight bit.
This thing has found its way into the tub.
Darn good tablet.

Pretty sure its safe, its CPU is a Qualcomm that supports quick charge.

I don't have a USB multimeter, but I have used differnet USB cables to charge and found big difference in the charging time.
I have 2 original Sony chargers at home, one in the bedroom and the other in the Living room. Battery Monitor Widget showed that it could charge from 0 to 100% in 5.5 hours (at 1298mA, and 18.09% per hour) with a thick no-name brand USB magnetic cable in the bedroom, and down to only 406mA with the original Sony USB cable in my Living room.
The conclusion is: get a good thick USB charging cable.

Yes. I use the same cable.
Dock charging seems (or should I say seemed?) to work a little slower if I'm waiting on the tablet. Its not incredibly slow and I can stream Showbox (w/ Growbox and Allcast) or Netflix from the tablet and it still charge faster then use its juice, so its not a worry for me.
I've never had a battery problem with it either, it'll go all day as a reader or watching media and still have at least 30% left at the end of the day, so it goes back on the magnetic charger overnight. No reason to directly plug it in anymore.
as long as it is a working usb cable, there is no harm that a cable cause to a tablet.

I bought a cheap 6ft USB charging cable and thought there was something wrong with my tablet because it took forever to charge. No multimeter, it damned on me that the cable was acting as a resistor probably because the wires are thin (cheapo).
Conversely, when I bought a refurbed z3V to have as a back up, it came with a generic charger that was rated only 1 amp (the phone charger from Sony is 1.5).
I think that as long as it doesn't go to much past the rated 1.5, it's good.

I stick to Anker. They're good products, have a decent price and if you're ever in need of customer service they're awesome.
I emailed them over a discontinued mouse that was out of warranty (software issue) and they called me the next day and made sure it was working right. This past December they sent me one of their portable phone chargers as a loyalty reward. I've got mice, keyboards, chargers, wires, phone and laptop batteries from them and they've all been fantastic. They make it hard to want to buy from anyone else if they've got it.

well before the s7 i had the s6 and i have to be honest it did some weird stuff, battery drained super fast over night ( arround 30%) capacitive buttons showed strange behavior ( pressing the button by itself) i disabled them and used Pie control for a while. This was with all kind of cable's/chargers.
Started using original charger and cable and the battery drain turned back to normal after a while and when i turned the capacitive buttons on again and stay worked again!
I'm not 100% sure this is because of the charger or cable but i guess they do make a difference

I would imagine as long as they are quality chargers/cables you'll be fine, im using a blackberry charger along with samsung one and everything works fine.
You can usually tell is the usb cable is cheap when it can't fast charge the phone, they're also pretty thin.
Just don't use the cheap Chinese **** 5 pack for $2 from eBay and you should be fine.

Obviously cheap crappy dangerous chargers will not be good, but these rumours came from people who couldn't accept that Samsung messed up, didn't want to blame the phones/batteries, so blamed the owners instead
You have more chance of the charger failing than the battery if the charger is faulty/cheap, unless of course it is pushing too much juice into the phone, but I would hazard a guess the charging circuit would fail before it managed to set a battery on fire
Just find a cheap brand that's quality and stick with it. Anker Aukey CableMatters Mediabridge all seem good though the usb connector alwasy seems to get looser and looser. I've almost completely moved over to Qi because of it.
Get a cable and charger from a decent brand name company, and make sure that it's properly rated to the phone model you have. Any time you're using an overpowered or underpowered charging source it can have a negative effect on the battery.
I have a big 4 port Aukey charger that has Ai and QC2.0 ports on it. It is great! I use the cable that came with That charger and I travel with the samsung charger and cable.

Exactly. Get a quality 2A charger and a decent 20 or 22awg USB cable and you're good.
Buy that 49 cent 1 micrometer thick cable off eBay and you'll be hatin life.
While we're on the subject, there's apps that let you measure incoming charge current. I measured every cable I had in the house, one right after the other using the same power brick. Two of them wouldn't allow more than ~330mA charge current. Most others were 1.1A. Those two went right in the garbage.
In japan s7 do not come with charger so you can use any cable or charger
