What id does?
- It takes a cache.img file and unpacks the cache inside it to widely readable and reusable zip file
What for?
- Current methods requires you to convert cache.img to ext4 format and then use some weird tools to mount it as filesystem and then you can see/unpack the contents, using Cache Ripper you simply provide two arguments to it which is cache file and output zip file and voila! after a blink of an eye you got cache file and you can read/modify it and FLASH WITH CWM!!!
as it contains all things needed to flash (including scripts).

hallo grooby
I did not understand how it works

Unpack cache.img from ROM file, and use this tool to get flashable & modificable zip file

very neat indeed
finally no need to convert to EXT4 manually
and also no need to manually mount to recover the system files in linuxDisk!
you saved all the Developers a lot of time with this

Thats why i created it spread the news!
and that is why i didnt did the UI for it, to make it usable on scripts & kitchens
AND after creating few tools IM NOT RECOGNIZED DEV YET! ))

Great!

Hello! As you know, we can flash custom ROMS our Lumias. We haven't a lot of ROMS yet. I think, everyone wants make custom ROM. I have written guide for you! Let's get started!
1. Download and install OS Builder, then run it.

2. In right side switch to Dump Mode
3. Open os-new.nb. You can use my ROM as a basis.
4. Click on Create packages
5. Then go to Dump folder and replace file OSBuilder.osb with this by ultrashot
6. Run OS Builder and switch to OS Builder mode
7. Open Dump folder in OS Builder.
8. If you want edit registry, open Tools>Registry preview
9. If you want edit files, edit them in Dump folder
10. If you finished editing, choose Start.
11. Your custom ROM will be in Dump folder
12. Done! Happy flashing!
If you have questions, ask them here or PM me.
If I helped you, hit thanks button! You are not allowed to post this tutorial to other forums!
So how to create your package? How to add your own entries in the registry (in secret, in the preview does not register, it only conflicts keys)? How to add software in xap into firmware? Why we need dsm? What is the sof / cif? Why are the names of dsm / rgu so strange?
I would love to try this out! I'd really like to start cooking again like we used to say Done this before on my Windows Mobile... Unfortunately, I have locked DLOAD Lumia 800
This manual will teach you only one-how to take someone else's firmware to add a couple of your files, and build it in working condition.

I admit, this tutorial is far from complete, but you could also head over to the Chef section and learn how to cook with OSBuilder. Then get creative and build your own ROM's, with the explanations you find in the OSBuilder threads.
as soon as you yourself will learn to do this?

Toolkit Ideas

So I made the base of my toolkit. Just waiting on a recovery to finish it. Now I want some ideas to add/implement/make it better.
Many people know that I make toolkits for basically every new HTC phone. Here is the sample for the One X+ at the moment.
{

"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Things I will NOT add.
- Stock/Custom Kernels
- Remove Root
- Probably more that I forgot
Many people flashed kernels and had no idea on how to use it and soft-bricked their phones.
Root can be removed with the SuperSU app from my toolkit.
So give reasonable recommendations and I will see what I can do!
Hey hasoon,
under "kernel" maybe "fastboot erase cache" as it comes hand after flashing boot.img (or directly in flash command for boot.img, if it's not already there)
and eventually "adb logcat -d >log.txt" under "command". Just for the lazy among us .

Would be happy to help but I don't know how flashing on the one x+ looks like as I don't have one(for the moment). But when I'll have passed the two weeks of stock rom limits testing and will flash another rom, then I'll see if they are improvements to do .

flashing is the same with all phones. download a ROM, transfer to your phone, go into recovery and flash. Rooting is the same for pretty much all modern HTC phones.

I've used your toolkit, and I have to say it is pretty awesome work. However, as a first time user, I was rather confused with the UI, since it looked like there was no real 'order' labelled on each section, they aren't labelled like "Step 1, 2.. etc". Otherwise, the tool works great.

ROM downloader is another story. I don't have a centralized database with all the ROMs. I'm adding ADB Sideload as we speak!
I'm redoing my scripts to make this even better! It isn't easy and I probably won't have it done tonight. My goal is to have it done by tonight! However, I never had these features before, so I'm learning how to implement them without errors!
Here's a sample of the new addition!
Make some requests. I'll see what I can do!
Features will vary from device to device. The Amaze does not need an ADB Sideload feature. I'm using my Amaze source to mess with the new add ons.
This will not be done tonight. It's taking a lot of time to write this and it's giving me some errors.

[Q] [SURVEY] CWM: Additional Options - Your Developers Need You :)

Hi Folks

As you may or may not be aware, I have been working on get CWM Recovery working on the Gen9's and basically make the layout of the Filesystems etc reflect some sort of Android Standard, In SDE mode at least. This is coming along nicely and I should be ready to kick out a Early Beta in the Next Couple of Weeks.
I would like to gather some input on any additional options people who like to see in CWM, Basically CWM Recovery Comes with a standard set of features but they maybe options that you have found useful on Device's you have had in the past etc.
I already plan to make it possible to boot into all modes on the device, that Archos Recovery, Archos Android, SDE Android and SDE CWM Recovery.
So Yeah, Give me Ideas and I'll seen If I can accomadate them
NOTE: Obviously We are just getting started on this and alternative recoveries will come in time, TWRP for example but one thing at a time eh :good:
Okay, Here's a currently "wishlist" of feature I think would be quite useful
Archos Specific Features
Include Stock Repair and Recovery Options
Include Stock Developer Edition Options
Reboot to Stock Recovery Option as a Fail Safe.
Reboot Stock Android
Flash Archos aos update
Upgrade Existing SDE Images to new structure
An the list goes on.....
Print system Properties
Print dmesg
Resize Partitions
Manage FS Image Location ( mainly nice to have on HDD Version I suppose )
Backup to Sparse Image ( I'm sure CWM5 Nandroid did this with ext4 partitions, god knows why they changed to a default choice between tar archives or dup differential blobs, What If I just a single portable file for my data partition backup!! )
Start Fastboot support ( could be useful for flash images rather the 'ffing around with edify scripts and update zips )
Power Off ( Suprisingly not include by default )
Full Touch Support with on screen keyboard and command line
I think those features will do nicely but If anyone has anymore then get involved!
The nandroid backup interests me a lot... its always nice to be able to "return" to when it was working if anything breaks.
Im watching this thread with interest good luck!!
TrOjAn
Maybe an ability to mount the whole system through usb? So one could DD clone the whole memory chip to PC. That could recover some bricks.

Hi There,
I think, You've got your wires crossed None of this is related to letama CWM Recovery./ If you haven't already you may want to have a read of this thread in the development section I won't go into details here because It's all in there!
I well aware of how fastboot works but to supporting the fastboot protovol allows the same workflow when it come to work with the AOSP source as any over device. which is
Build Rom
Flash the Partitions with fastboot
Reboot Into Rom.
???

When you control both ends of the conversation, We are free to do as we please.

Intro :
This ROM based on zyrex cm11 kernel, ported from pyramid.
Main purpose of this rom , to make (phone layout ) portrait as default orientation ( nexus 7 wannabe ).
No more Black Screen when rotate to 180, now you can freely rotate to any direction.
Change navbar position to bottom in landscape mode, not stick on the right side, on phone layout.
Bluetooth A2dp ok, No jumbled jigsaw in recent apps.
Quick launch shortcuts set to "none" by default, use other similar apps
Because of my limitless knowledge, this rom is far away from perfection
Installation Guide

You should link your Rom again.
The only reason from zyr3x is to earn money with bis Rom. 10 Dollar .
He sells Software and breaks xda rules and cm-rules.
His threads where closed by admins.
He uses open source but does not share his code!
Why should you listen to him and delete the download ?
It is free and open source ! It is cm !
I think you should not cooperate...
@zyr3x
it is not ok what you are doing. i can understand that you need money (who not), but cm is OPEN SOURCE and has his rules !!

I would like the rom as well. I have a very old version installed.
This mod is actually the first since the 4.4.2 based ones without the Webview bug and the self destruction feature requiring frequent wipes and reinstalls.
It has one major issue, preventing installation of all apps using the Google Maps library, except Google Maps itself.
http://blog.propriacausa.de/?p=235
Sorry for the german text, but u get the idea: Two files from a GAPPS zip belong into two system folders. I didn't use ADB, but performed it locally with Total Commander for unzipping and copying. Attributes don't have to be altered. Reboot advisable.
thanks for the fix but... how about the rom itself?
Since it seems that it does not exist a decent and functional custom ROM for this table, at least it exist a way for going back to Stock ROM after TWRP?

RSD Lite for Mac and Linux Flash Stock Motorola Firmware

RSD Lite Tool For Mac and Linux
View attachment 3812978
This tool is designed to flash stock Motorola firmware just like you can with Motorola's program RSD Lite but on Mac and Linux machines.
What it does is looks at the XML files that come with Motorola firmware like the servicefile.xml and the flashfile.xml then coverts them all to fastboot commands it also checks the MD5 of all the firmware files just like rsd lite.
If you want to learn more and see some examples of how this is all done check HERE

Hi, I was considering picking up the amazon version of the g4 play, but decided to see if there was a way to flash the stock motorola version of android before doing so. I read through the provided script and saw that you chose to ship your own binaries instead of using the versions of adb and fastboot already installed. Looking at the binaries themselves, I found that while my own adb is 164K and fastboot is 116K, your versions are 1292K (!!) and 296K respectively. I am, I think understandably, wary of running large uninspected binaries on my system. My question is, if I copy my own versions of these programs into the RSD-Lite-Mac-Linux/files/ directory (or use sym-links), is this likely to cause issues with the flashing process?
Also, is there a reason you direct people to download everything from your site instead of linking to upstream, even for programs like notepad++ and even when your versions are (very) outdated?
Should this work on Motorola Photon Q (xt897), which normally works with (windows) version 6.15? I tried that with wine, but it doesn't see my phone...
