[Q] PIN passcode error, data wipe work around - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok so I have a Galaxy 10.1 wifi tablet. I have it rooted with the AOKP ICS release, and my tab is encrypted. What happened is my little brother was messing around with my tablet and it has a PIN code lock screen, he botched the code too many times and now my tablet is trying to do a data wipe. Is there any kind of work around I can do to keep that from happening?

Some more detail, I tried the lock screen bypass app and it didn't work

Really ?!
I used to know that if u typed in the code wrong several times it locks the screen for 30 seconds than 5 minutes 30 minutes and so on
Can you make a photo of the screen to show me exactlsy what it states

[Q] Lock screen

Hi,
Not sure if this has been asked before, but If a pin number or password is set up for the lock screen, this can be bypassed by pressing the home button 5 or 6 times and will then open up the phone without the need to enter the password or pin. A work colleague found this out by accident and was able to access the phone uninhibited. Is this a feature in case of forgotten passwords / pins or is it a bug. Or can it be disabled? as it doesn't seem all that secure
Mine doesnt do that, tried it several times
must be a bug on your phone
Yeah I though that but another work colleague has the same phone and his does it as well. You have to press it quite quickly it seems to go into the voice control when it comes on and then goes on to normal phone use. I have found other references to it googling, but seems to be relating to a fix if you have actually forgotten the password.
We've been having a fiddle , and now having powered off the phones cold and restarting after setting the pin numbers it has stopped doing it. Up untill now after setting the pin code we hadn't actually powered off completely just into standby. SO you presumably must have to reboot the phone after setting the pin number.
Anyway both phones are working and cant replicate the issue, so hopefully sorted.
Thanks

Extend incorrect PIN lockout?

Hello - on iOS, if you enter the wrong lock screen pass code too many times, the phone progressively takes longer and longer before allowing you to retry entering the pass code, ultimately locking it indefinitely after several increases (30 seconds to 5 minutes, 30 minutes etc) . From what I can tell- Android only locks out for 30 seconds no matter how many attempts it seems. Does anyone know a way to secure it for a longer period of time or auto-wipe after x failed password attempts should it fall in the wrong hands and the password is guessed incorrectly too many times? Thanks!

Desperate Error Android (!)

Hi all!
This is my first post, but not for a happy reason.
Briefly, I took my Asus Zenfone 4 screen (broken) to exchange.
The technician (friend that I trust) asked me my unlock pass (PIN) and unlock screen pass too, to restart it for tests. He removed the passwords to work freely. Restarted the phone 2 times, everything ok.
The problem (a bit desperate) is that now, supposedly for no reason, we can't access phone. Says: To start your Android, enter your PIN (Pin, not password, just numbers). Seems like smartphone took a PIN itself.
We tried old PIN few times but says that 3 more attempts and the data will be deleted (!!).
(Note: I had App Lock installed and protected almost all important apps with the same Pin, but I think there's nothing to do with this problem).
The only solution will be reset the system?? Unfortunately I have some files without backup that I can't lose.
There is any original Pin?
Any help is welcomed! Thank you so much!

Android security - Redmi 6A Screen lock bypassed

My friend had an unathorized access to her phone, a spouse bypassed her screen lock and I want to find out how was he able to do that so she can better secure herself. Her smartphone is Xiaomi Redmi 6A, software up to date.
So here's what happend. Her spouse sneaked inside her room during the night, took her phone (we know because sim and sd card were missing in the morning) and somehow bypassed the screen lock, accesed her facebook messenger, took some screen shots and then sent it to her (sort of blackmail purpose). I was also surprised to find out in the morning that "she" viewed my last message at 5 am with no reply, but turned out it was her spouse. He hasn't removed the lock, she had no idea he accessed it until reading his messages later on.
As far as I'm aware of, there is no possible solution to bypass the lock in a modern phone such as redmi 6A, without doing a hard reset and especially, without leaving the lock in place.
Any idea how was he able to access it in that scenario? Taking her sim and sd card might have something to do with it, but I have no idea. All I can think of is that he simply guessed the screen lock password, it was only 4 digits (android show the dots informing how many you should enter). And my guess is that it wasn't his first try.

Forgot my lock screen pattern. Can only try once every 30 minutes now. Please help.

Is there a way to circumvent or remove the lock screen pattern on an Android One phone? Mi A2 Lite running the January security updates, stock ROM, stock boot loader.
My brain monkey threw a wrench and for the life of me I can't figure out which pattern worked on my phone. I Have tried many combinations and reached a point where I am down to 30 minute lock out between attempts.
Is there any way to bypass this? I have a year's worth of data in my phone from a loved one that I don't want to lose.
I know that factory reset resolves the issue, but I don't want to lose the data. Any help would be appreciated.
