Sound volume? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anyone think that the sound volume is too low? Ringing, speaker phone, etc. I feel like everything is lower than previous phones.

I second that. Anyone?

This is because of the increasing ring volume.....
You haven't said, but I assume you meant max volume right, as opposed to the above?
If you don't, there will sure enough me a hack ported from SGS2 to SGS3 to disable the increasing ring. Of course root well be required.

Yeah sorry I meant max volume. does anyone know if volume + works for the s3?

I actually think the phone is far too loud... and i dont like how the sound adjustment is in steps and not vairable. even on its LOWEST setting (before its completely off) if it goes off in a classroom or office enviroment everyone around me can hear it.. (the whole class)

Voodoo sound question

So my girl says that when she talks to me she could barely hear me. She says I sound muffled and not loud enough. Is there anything I can do with voodoo sound control app that will make me sound clearer and louder? ? Thanks guys

I'm going to post the obvious... are you covering the mic on the bottom of the phone with your finger/phone cover?
I hear if you turn the volume down sometimes its easier to hear though there has been reports of faulty mics that are covered incorrectly by the housing of the phone

Weird Buzzing Sound From Speaker

I was using Gingerreal 1.1.0, based on KPN and yesterday noticed a weird 'bzz' sound when playing music (stock music player, then winamp). Thinking it was a GR bug, I flashed a fresh, stock KPN and still notice the same distortion. This happens even when listening to ringtones, in the system app. My question is, is this common at volumes of 10/15? Or has my speaker gone bad, and I need to get it checked? I use 320 kbps mp3s, so the quality of the mp3 file isn't in question (happens with ALL my songs).
Thanks!
It happens to my mp4 player, computer and phone. It should be either the jack getting old, or the disk drive getting old. just a guess! Because i've searched google which turns up no results.
I've had it ever since the day I got my Ace . I'm still thinking whether it's an antenna problem or speaker fault .

I meant my loudspeaker. The in-call sound is most likely carrier dependent. Even my bootsound is surprisingly loud. And thus distorted. Time to get it checked?
PS. I should revert to the stock Asian Froyo before visiting the service center, right?

Yes , the sounds came out of my loudspeaker too .
So you say it is normal? But shouldn't the sound be normal even at the maximum specified volume? What's the point of having levels till, say 15, when only till 9 the sound remains clean?

You may have harmed your speaker previously .
That's what is even more surprising. I've barely used it. All the side stickers are still there. And I usually keep it on vibrate. Sucks really. You take full care about scratches and stuff. Then this happens. And the service centres will probably ruin it. Happened with my PSP, iPod.. :/

You could try going into service mode and changing the pre-amp in the sound settings .
To get into Service Mode , download SamServMode .
BE CAREFUL ON WHAT SETTINGS YOU SET THERE .

Can anyone confirm if their speaker doesn't buzz at loud volumes? I want to be sure before I claim my warranty at a service centre. People here in India don't always accept claims..

I think you're referring to lags. I get sounds as if there's something that's on the speaker filament, and touching it. BTW, what do I change in the Service Mode? I tried rebuilding speaker values, set pre-amp for MP3 something and speaker to 0 db. No effects. It really is messed up..

Volume Hack?

I had the Epic Touch 4G for about a week until I had to return it (Sprint really sucks in my area). Anyways, as with most Sprint phones, the earpiece volume is pretty damn loud. Since getting my SII on AT&T, I notice a huge difference, and I was wondering if there were any hacks to make it louder. My phone is rooted, and I'm not opposed to getting a custom ROM if need be.
Thanks

Oh this is the perfect thread to find out something that is been bothering me.
IF you still on the ATT stock rom. what kind of head phones are you using? 16ohm, 24ohm, 32ohm, 64+ohm?
Because in the CM7.1 forum, we are having some issues where the 16ohms headphones are playing SUPER loud.
SO... if you happened to have some cheapy 16ohm headphones and you are not getting super loud volume please let us know in the CM7.1 nightly forum?
Thanks
PS: *I* believe that the stock rom has auto-impedance, but CM7.1 doesn't which causes 16ohm headphones to play super loud while 32-64ohms headphones play @ "normal" volume. But this is just a theory...

Are you actually able to get it to work got the GS II? I downloaded it but it never asks for root and doesn't make anything louder, no matter what settings I use.
Sent from my Galaxy S II using the XDA app!
I tried Volume+, but I don't think its what I was looking for. I am not having a volume issue with the main speaker, but rather the earpiece speaker you use during a regular call. I was able to get a louder audio playback via the normal speaker (listening to music) but saw no improvement during a call.

I'd love to have a viable solution to increase headset volume as well. I'm using a wired headset if it matters and I'm on gtg's UnNamed Rom. I tried volume+ and noticed it said it doesn't work on stock roms and I know we're running a slightly modified version of it so...
But yeah, didn't notice any volume difference in headset or speaker.
Its a known issue with Samsung phones,Galaxy s1 phones had the same problem!
What I don't understand is how the Sprint version of the phone was so drastically louder than the AT&T version. Its like the hardware is capable, but they are holding it back.

I'm sure the devs here will come up with something like voodoo for infuse.

I have stock rom with root. Idk if its just my phone or what - I'll have to test my friends phone now, lol. And yes, I do need the volume quite high as I am rarely in quiet environments

My volume is also low on my phone. Headphone volume is loud. I believe the perception Rom has loud call volume.
For my first few calls, the volume seemed to be too low. Then I noticed that if I hold the phone lower, it is much louder. I guess the earpiece is so high up on the phone that holding the phone in a natural position doesn't put the earpiece in the right place in my ear.
volume boost gets my vote.
I've been searching for a volume hack for two weeks. Im rooted and on unNamed ROM. The volume has been much lower than id like on both stock and custom Rom . I've tried volume+ but doesn't do the trick.
Can someone PLEASE provide a solution for this. ie. modify file in root explorer, or some other hack.
there is audio boost sgs2... but it will probably drain battery as it polls on the volume to constantly make it "louder". its a cheat hack.
I also think the incall volume is really low as well, would love if one of you devs could come up with something.. Donate donate donate!

This may be a dumb question....

I am hard of hearing. What Rom or is just an app is recommended?.... has the best and clearest sound for music? Thank you in advance.

Through the speaker on the phone or headphones?
PowerAmp I believe has an EQ you can use to boost some levels, for the most part, the max volume is going to be a limitation of the phone.

Agreed, PA & headphones are the best you can do.
No ROM is going to matter much.

Actually, it just occured to me -the headphone amp I use (Fiio E6) not only improves the sound of good quality headphones quite a bit, it will make the sound loud enough to totally deafen any normal person........

I thought the same thing until I saw how tiny this thing actually is.
It weighs absolutely nothing & is about the size of a matchbook.
Believe me, it is worth the little extra effort to use it & if you can't hear with this in place you would have to be completely deaf.

Need help! Call volume to low!

I am running paranoid androidrom which I like. But the call volume on my end is really low. I have used alsa mixer and changed things. Fan someone tell me what to do. Or how to use alsa mixer

I havn't tried Volume+ on my note yet, but works great on my Asus Transformer Infinity which runs ICS. The notes say it doesn't work on anything but GB but it does. JB it does not work though. There is a free version that boosts you up a small amount like +8db and paid lets you go higher. Just don't go too high or you risk damaging speaker when other louder sounds come out. You can boost overall volume then turn other volumes down via the sliders.
Volume+ Free
Volume+ ($1.99)

I forgot to say that I've tried that too. But quote " The In-Call settings are different; they don’t allow you to boost the In-Call volume but instead give you much more control over the volume" says I can't change the volume at all. I thought this setting said that I can just control the number of times I can get to raise my volume level. Plus. For some reason it doesn't show in call settings. U have to go to the advanced tab for root? I applied this to 7 yesterday and it didn't do a thing for me

Same here and it's the only thing that this rom (ICS version) is lacking.
The reason I asked earliee about the baseband is that on a former phone some modems had better call volume than others.
Who wants to be a guinnea pig and flash the other modems? There are two to try.
