Stupid question - HTC Rezound

If I'm s-off on venasaur's Rom, can I RUU back to a 2.3.4 build? Do I need to rock the bootloader? I assume I need to re-root and whatnot but, will I lose s-off and have to go back and redo the wire trick?
I'm trying to retrace my steps to get back to stock and reflash a sense 4.0 Rom to get me going using the rezzy as a gsm phone for at&t. I know it can be done because its all over the interwebz and I've talked to people that are using it in the usa on usa gsm carriers. Just need to know how to go back in time to start over fresh. Or do I need to flash the Rom and wipe /system and whatnot?
Trying to undo whatever borked the phone to the point where it reboots at random and won't let me use the dialer. Please someone help a noob here.
I'M A FIRIN MAH LAZOR :[email protected]!!!

No need to re lock if you're s-off. What version is your h-boot? A little more info would make it easier to figure out your problem.

You can just run the GB RUU you won't lose s-off and to root you can just flash a custom rom or install SU from Amon Ra

Can someone link me to the proper 2.3.4 RUU? Also, im not losing s-off but losing root, do i need to relock the BL before or will it be self locked and all i have to do is re-unlock? Tired and jacked up on redbull to get thru the workday. Went to sleep about 3am

That's it you have a ics hboot with gb firmware. When you ran the s-off program did you use the ics one by chance? Here's the firmware and radio thread. Has downloads to fox your situation. If you're running sense 4 go for the ics with the juopunut bear 2.25 hboot http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25197071

Awesomesauce. Got that working. Got the phone to where.it will hold signal and let me make.a call but, no sms or data. Tried sms bit it failed and, lost signal then popped up a notice about "do you want to send when service becomes available"

Are you already rooted? s-off or s-on? If you are rooted, just flash a 2.17 rom, nothing will happen to your root or hboot.

ok... IF you are rooted and have an unlocked bootloader the first thing you need to do is download the stock rom and install it to the ROOT of your sdcard under the name PG86IMG.zip the reboot into your hboot screen, done by holding the volume down button and then the power button...it will start to load this new file... follow the prompts to allow it it to install fully... then frokm there let it boot up once.... then shut it down and reboot into your hboot again then relock your bootloader via the fastboot methid and then reboot again... from there you can update fully to HTC's roms and updates and then redo the procedure of unlocking your boot loader and then installing superuser....any other questions feel free to ask ill be up for awhile tonight....
I dont understand the prevuius user stated i could basucally just flash away still , while you gave me a whole run down of thigs of which i need to do, which i appreciate.

Since you are s-on just lock your bootloader If you are unlocked , and use the latest 2.17 RUU.exe....then unlock again...and root it.
the reason i gave a list of thiungs to do is bc i dont have my hands on your phone... you stated you have s-on... you should if you have 1.5 bc you cant turn that off... above that though your phone should say *unlocked* you need to set it back to say *relocked*
and you mus also make sure the recovery you have is the factory one... if you have twrp or clockmod for a recovery you will end up erroring out when the phone reboots and tries to install it... and if that happens youll end up having to flash the rest to get it to boot again

This has them all, but These are STOCK roms without root, they do not contain super user or busybox or anything, so you will lose root, you shouldn't have to re-lock to update though... it should just let you update it, this is going to wipe out whatever your current rom is.
You probably want something more like an already rooted rom though...
Thanks! So can you link me to a stock rooted rom i can flash....and after i flash it i can just update?

2.89 base issues

So I just took the OTA from Sprint the other day, re-unlocked the HTCDEV way, and tried flashing a ROM, but kept getting bootloops. I think it has something to do with the fact that the ROM had a 2.17 base and now I have the 2.89 base. Is there any way to either revert back to 2.17 or am I kinda stuck where I'm at. Help please
Downgrade your bootloader using unknownforce's method. I had the same issue and it worked for me. I'm now back on 1.4 S-OFF instead of 1.58 Unlocked. Its very easy to do, and it negates the need for HTCDEV Unlock method.. just to be clear, I don't believe you can flash anything lower than what you currently have when it comes to firmware especially when you are S-ON since you cant write to those particular partitions where the kernel hboot etc etc are located.

Sent from my PG86100 using xda app-developers app
IDK why you want to revert a previous and worse FW than actual. Why not flash a 2.89 Based ROM and problem gone? Just wait some days until devs make compatible the roms with latest base.
I have a 2.89 rom right now, but I've always loved certain aspects of Sense 3 and Sense 3.5 and I want to be able to try different roms to find the one I'm satisfied with, and since there's only 3 2.89 roms right now, all of them S3.6 I want to be able to go back to previous versions because S3.6 isn't my cup of tea
Sent from my PG86100 using xda app-developers app
If you wanted that only you had to do was run 2.17 RUU and after that just Unlock it again and root. With 4ext after you ran the full RUU and unlocked with HTC Dev you can run GB and ICS Roms.
I tried that, the bootloader version doesn't work with the RUU
Sent from my PG86100 using xda app-developers app
Yes i know that, I was saying before you upgraded to 2.89 FW and as far as i know there is no way to go back or run something made on a previous version for the base.
I kinda figured, I'm probably just gonna wait for the RUU for 2.89 comes out that way I can relock, run the ruu to get rid of the security warning, and downgrade to 1.40 and get s-off that way
Sent from my PG86100 using xda app-developers app
Ramjet installed the latest firmware and was unable to install GB from scratch unless it was from a Nandroid. See: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=29764326
Also, there is at least one other ROM based on the new ota on "another site".

Like I said, I did not try the wire trick LOL I prefer Unknown's simply because it was the only one available when I tried it. Phone's have a mind of their own IMHO LOL Well what you will need is the PG86IMG.zip for THAT particular part, then the 1.13 .exe file (which you can find anywhere!) thats the key part. Why do you think you need the RUU for 2.89? you can find the PG86IMG.zip file somewhere in the Dev section. replace the 2.17 zip file that most of us used to do it for the 2.89 .zip file and you're golden! As long as you can put it into EMMC recover mode, which you should be able to do so with the full ROM.zip file found in the Dev Section, just substitute 2.89 for 2.17 hope that helps man
Well from what I read, you need to flash the stock, unrooted OHHHHH wait just had an epiphany, I think I know what to do now, the only reason I thought you need the ruu was because in the video that shows you the bricking process, he said you need to run the ruu to remove the security flag so the pg86100.zip p****s

This 2.89 crap is giving me a run for my money, I got a replacement phone, Totally unrooted of course
So my dumb a** accept the OTA, and now I'm hboot 1.58, SO, I figured I'd try to htc unlock and all that jazz, Which worked all up until install superuser.
CWM recovery would say installation complete but when I used Rootchecker or tried to use a root app just to try and get the prompt to see if I was rooted it was concluded that I wasn't, I Flashed SU 2.3.6.3 signed many many times hoping it would stick, But it didn't. So I got ballzy and tried to flash a (rooted) rom thinking that maybe it would go thourgh, But it didn't, So now I'm stuck on a splashscreen innevitably.
I'm about to try to flash meanrom with the new 2.89 base and maybe that'll boot, It's taking forever to download though, Anyone have some suggestions?? in case this rom doesn't work??
I feel like I need HTC to release the 2.89 RUU and I'll be gravy, Is this my only hope though??

have you tried a different recovery like TWRP to get it started instead of CWM? Nothing against OG's but TWRP seems to work a little better to get things off the ground a little more often than none.

Ruu help.

I going to get a replacement from Verizon and I need to revert my phone back to stock. Right now I'm s on and my boot says tampered and unlocked how can I get back to stock. Will an ruu work?
If you look for the hboots thread in the dev section, there is a modified one that will say 'locked'. You just need to download it and flash. I believe you may actually have to re s-off temporarily to flash it though. Could be wrong

You can, but it wouldn't do any good as the ruu would not clear the tampered, unlocked message. This is why you need the modified hboot I mentioned. It has the message modified that has the correct message of 'locked'.
Grab the one called 'locked'

And you do need to s-off then flash the hex edited hboot.. all you need is for that phone to stay locked and be on a stock Rom and your good. Verizon doesn't usually check as long as you went thru the trouble shooting process with them over the phone and theyll send you a new one in the mail and you'll ship the old one back. They can't technically send you a phone and then charge you for the old one (if it is ***tampered***) cuz they wouldn't have done the proper trouble shooting before sending you a new phone. For all they know you got your phone that way.

So just grab any ruu and just do the rom again.
will that work since i have S-on still or since its unlocked.
Well, you have the 2.11.605.9 radios.
You'll need the 2.11.605.9 RUU, which I can't find it after numerous searches.
Try flashing this.
This is the full RUU for 2.11.605.19
http://goo.im/devs/trter10/PG05IMG.zip
***Credit to Trter10 for this full RUU***
You may have to root again and get s-off, flash the 2.11.605.19 radios, and then try flashing this RUU.
The 2.11.605.19 radios can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1605557
I'm not sure if you'll have to do the instructions above or if flashing this RUU will put the radios on there. I'm 99.9% sure this RUU contains the radios as well.

Try flashing a stock ruu and an older radio if you're using the leaked radios. The tool can't unroot the ics leak with the leaked radios. I would just download the stock ruu and fast boot flash it. Then try unrooting.

That's what I was saying, but he's on the 2.11.605.9 radios... and I couldn't find the 2.11.605.9 RUU anywhere.
Would he have to s-off and install the 605.19 radios and then flash the 605.19 RUU?

He would have to be s off to flash the other radio. Upgrading to a higher version should work s on. You can't downgrade without s off.

I know i looked for the RUU for about 2 hours last night. every link i tried was down.
is there only one RUU i can use? with the radio im stuck on.
not sure what the fast boot will do for me if the Rom or RUUs are not sticking to the phone after i try to update them
if that makes any sense....im not even sure i understand lol
So what files should i flash to in order to go up to a level that matches to a ROM
This way i can re-root, or do i need to just keep onlooking till i find a .9 RUU to match my radio
so i'm not rooted now because i have S-on. right?
but how do i have clockworkMod installed and can get load a leaked 4.0.3 to load?
All i really want to do is stock this and S-on so can return it lol

Use the all in one tool again to root and obtain s-off, and then go back 13 posts to where I posted the RUU for 2.11.605.19 and the link to the 2.11.605.19 radios.
Once you are s-off after using the all in one rooting tool, flash the radios. Once you flash the radios, flash the RUU and run the tool again to unroot.

Caroline failed, but had this to say: entation fault
Press (almost) any key to exit.
Try using the All in one tool and get the following error message
i looked it up and it don't like something inside ICS
i know i just cant win
any other ways to root
i tried to reinstall SU and got it to say installed
but S on still and no root when needed in apps
If you're running an ICS ROM, you'll need to drop down to another ROM based off of the 2.11.605.19 software.

I have tried a few different roms all 2.3.2 or 2.3.5 and the ROM completes but when i restart the phone for the new rom to load
it just drops me back to the clockwork-mod screen. the only one that gets past that screen is ICS
not sure what I'm doing that messing it up. i have loaded about 15 roms in the past and all have loaded......damn the S-on lol
Its like it remembers that i had that on the phone so its ok to have ICS but when i go to any other its like it just does not work

Hit the top link in my sig and go to the section on RUU's. At the bottom of the first post I have links to all applicable RUU's for the EVO LTE. Easiest thing would be to run one of them if you want to get back to stock. If you want to go back to being S-on and stock, use VipeRUU.

Thanks Magnum
Using the VipeRUU was supper easy and quick. Back to stock off to sell.:good:
Not a problem. Just remember that the RUU is run from your computer. Connect your phone and PC via USB cable, and once the connection is complete double-click the RUU file to start the installer. You may need to install HTC Sync so that you have the proper drivers installed on your computer. It takes about 10-15 minutes for the RUU to run, so be patient. VipeRUU is a little bit different. When you double-click the file to start the process, it will bring up a menu with options in it for you to choose from. It's pretty straightforward, though.
I've run VipeRUU a few times, but the bootloader stays unlocked. Anyone have any suggestions to get it back to a "Locked" state? I'm S-OFF, HBOOT 2.09.

fastboot oem lock

That would just make it show "Relocked", though, right?

I don't believe that will work being S-off (I've tried it before just for kicks and it didn't do anything). Even if it did, the bootloader would show the tampered and unlocked warning.
