I do not know if you can purchase their service in your country, but take a look at Goldenfrog's VyprVPN for Android.

VyprVPN for Android is for tablets (and telephones) that are running the Android operating system.
By the way, Android 4.0.3 has a VPN client built-in. You set it up through Settings > Wireless & Networks > More... > VPN.
If you need help setting it up, just ask. I used to use a PPTP connection. Now I use a more secure L2TP/IPSec RSA certificate-based connection, which is required on Sony's tablet because it doesn't use L2TP/IPSec PSK (Pre-Shared Key) correctly.

I use BlackVPN provider, they have various servers for different applications in different countries. They also have a guide to setting it up on different devices, I then use the following apps to make it all work, you will need root as OpenVPN isn't officially supported by Android. It is the most secure and one of the fastest VPN protocols available also.
You need TUN.ko to install the TUN module.
Then you need the Open VPN Installer to install the app.
Then you need OpenVPN Settings to control which VPN server you want to use.
BTW OpenVPN kicks ass over PPTP and L2TP/IPSec. Here

You can use a VNC client, and install a 'VNC server' on your desktop. As it so happens, we included the VNC client software in the Special Edition ROM.
Doing this over GPRS does eat quite a bit of bandwidth though, so it would really have to be imporant (or someone else would have to pay for it...)
can u please explain it- where to download how its work ?

Just click this link:
http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=vnc
Couldnt connect from XDA
When i put the IP address and display number of the running VNC Server and click ok. It seems that its not connecting.
I wasconnected to GPRS before I run VNC.
Thanks
Did you check firewall settings and the presence of NAT between the Internet and the server PC.

[Q] HTTP Proxy under $churli root

What would it take to get this done? Could IP tables be set up so that the built in settings or one of the apps would work? I think a lot of people would love to have this capability, including me.
You could check out Proxoid. http://code.google.com/p/proxoid/wiki/installationPhone
I've never used it. It is supposed to let you use your phone for wirer proxy connections.

Thanks, but what I'm looking for is a way to use the tablet's browser over wifi through a proxy server. There are lots of apps and even browsers that claim to provide the capability, but our tablets seem to be missing the prerequisite IP tables. My employer's intranet is isolated from the internet with a firewall, and the only way through it is by way of a proxy server.
the UrukDroid mod does support iptables. so the apps like transproxy should work.
if you care to be the guinea pig ...

Thanks. I'll have to read up on that a bit. Not sure how much trouble it would be. I'm hoping for a relatively easy solution.
well the mod developers want to include proxy settings in the next releases. guess that is the simplest solution we might get.
i don't expect to get a working proxy solution in the original software anytime soon.
the only hope would be a honeycomb release which is highly unlikely, as android 2.3 doesn't have native proxy support.
Could it be as simple as this?

[Q] Internet Access to Windows Media Player

Hi - Is anyone aware of an Android app that will allow you to access your Windows Media Player library over the internet?
I can access it in the house using 2player.. but what would be really cool would be able to access my media over the internet from a friends house, or even at work..
Or do I need to install a third party app on my PC at home too? (I'd rather not do that unless it's the only option... and if it is the only option.. which one is the best one to choose?)
Thanks.
you can use any app that supports DLNA can connect to Media Player
All the ones I've tried only work locally.. Ie. Within range of my home wifi network... I want one that will work from anywhere...?
Sent from my X10 using XDA and Swype.
Anyone??? surely I'm not the only one who wants this??

Yes, it is possible using a VPN (Virtual Private Network)
A VPN binds your home network and your XPERIA X10i into one single LAN (192.168.1.0/24)
This means any services available to you on your home LAN is available to you on your XPERIA X10i anywhere in the world as long as your phone has an Internet connection.
You could look at setting up a PPTP server in your home network as a first step, but it is the least secure.
An OpenVPN server would be better and more secure.
HOWEVER, it can become VERY complex if you've never done this before and things don't fall into place the first time.
A visit to SmallNetBuilder or a Windows PC forum could provide additional information.
And if you do embark on setting up PPTP, one piece of advise, don't forget Generic Routing Encapsulation (GRE) tunneling protocol
The following config setup just pulled randomly from the web may provide a basic starter to get PPTP server up and running on a Windows 7 PC.
How to Set Up PPTP VPN Server in Windows 7
However I'd suggest for best practice you should use a dedicated VPN Server/router to provide a VPN PPTP server, as it's always up and provides added benefits for security, given PPTP is not the best VPN solution.
PPTP client is built into the Android OS and can be found in the VPN settings.
A better solution is to use OpenVPN and OpenVPN on a rooted XPERIA X10i.
You need a tun.ko module in the ROM/build when using OpenVPN client on Android.

Hotspot Shield

Hi mates..
Can anyone please tell how t configure Hotspot Shield? My problem is that Market is blocked in my country and the only way to access it is by changing my IP..
I tried adding VPN in the settings/wireless and networks menu but it doesn't work..
I also tried VPN Connections 0.99 app but it FCs when I try to connect..
I think it requires a custom kernel but I hope somone knows how to use it in stock ROM/kernel..
Any help is highly appreciated..
Thanks..

Hi pal,
Sorry but I know nothing about Hotspot Shield neither would I trust anyone to secure my data on my behalf when I can do it myself, especially if american!
Maybe this could help you, not only Androidwise: you could use it for all your web activities (BTW what's your country?)
You can use "SSH Tunnel Beta" from the market.
As you cannot access it I am posting the apk.
Or you could search SSHTunnel(BETA) v1.6.0beta.apk on google and you might find it.
Works like a charm, I use it to encrypt and to change my IP, whatismyip.org correctly reports the IP of the ssh server.
You need an ssh server to act as a proxy obviously.
(alternative is an proxy but firemole is not available on android)
All you need is a linux box in a datacenter.
Provider gives you root and password that you should change to something super secure, adduser name, disable root logins (/etc/ssh/sshd_config) and a few more things to be secure or if you like to risk.. just use the provided rootassword on your ssh tunnel app
I hire from www.leaseweb.com which is in NL or DE, you can get a VPS linux from many providers and they cost under 10 euro / month or get superb dedicated servers like I do if you have a use for them . Bandwidth is great but depends from the network in you country and also on the backbones used but you hardly care about this others are www.lowendbox.com and www.vps4you.it that offer 30 day trial
Hope this helps and doesn't just confuse you... But if you live in a country where things are banned I guess this would upgrade your web freedom
Now lets get back to work
G
PS you could also use it on your wireless router (get a www.dd-wrt.com / opnwrt / pfsense capable router) and you're done house/firm-wide
Thanks alot for the info mate
I'll see what I can do and report back..
Really appreciate your help
PS. btw am from Sudan..

VPN on Android

Just been wondering, cause I've tried it before but with no success, is it possible to create a virtual private network between your home computer/wlan to your android phone?
The main reason I would be interested in doing this is to possibly access my media collection on my home laptop via the HTC media player's ability to stream from a shared computer on the same wireless network, or to use splashtop2 vnc to access my actual computer from a remote location.
Has anyone tried this? With something like Hamachi ?

The Answer is YES...
I've had openVPN running on all of my android devices with no problem, I can access anything from my Network via VPN. If you need some help I can point you in the right direction.
I'd love some. Been trying to figure it out but been to busy to find the right research. Thx

How would I go about using OpenVPN with Hamachi? I could use "Private Tunnel" but it only allows 100mb with a free account :/
Add me, please, to the list of those who'd love your experience. My prior employer used a Cisco VPN client which I could never get working properly. Now, my needs are exactly those of the OPer. I have Win7 at home, on a PC running all the time, and I'd love to link my DNA.
So, any insight based on your experience would be great. Thanks!
OpenVPN Windows 7 Android Config
I've been coding for eight hours today, so I'll try to explain as much as possible tonight and will continue tomorrow if need be...
1. So obviously you need a static IP, if you don't have one yet set one up with no-ip or change-ip or whatever you prefer
2. Download and install this straight to C:\ directory.... trust me it is just easier this way:http://swupdate.openvpn.org/community/releases/openvpn-2.2.2-install.exe <--- This is an older version but I've found it to be most stable
3.Create a simple text file in the config folder of the OpenVPN server eg. C:\OpenVPN\config
and paste this into it:
## server.ovpn ##
port 1194 # This is the standard openVPN port, you may change it just make sure open it up in you firewall and forward the port
proto udp
dev tun
ca ca.crt
cert server.crt
key server.key # This file should be kept secret
dh dh1024.pem
server 10.20.1.0 255.255.255.0 #If you use this IP, your host machine will take the virtual IP of 10.20.1.1
ifconfig-pool-persist ipp.txt
push "dhcp-option DNS 10.20.0.1" #change these to match your setup
push "dhcp-option WINS 10.20.0.1" #this too
keepalive 10 120
comp-lzo
max-clients 3 # The maximum number of concurrently connected clients we want to allow.
persist-key
persist-tun
status openvpn-status.log
verb 3
4.save that text file with an .opvn extension
Sorry guys I'm done for the night... I'll try to help you out some more tomorrow.
openvpn
require root
