Question about relocking bootloader and security warning. - HTC Amaze 4G

So I am sending this amaze back to T-Mobile for a warrenty exchange. T-Mobile already sent me the replacement. Not going through HTC or Asuron.
I unlocked bootloader, flashed a recovery, then flashed a new rom. I made a nandroid of my stock rom I had on there before I did the unlock stuff.
So I wiped the custom rom , and restored the stock rom
So now I relocked bootloader and it says relocked and security warning. What exactly does that mean? Is it normal?
T-Mobile doesnt even care about that stuff right? I should only stress it if I was sending it into HTC. I hope lol.
The only problem I am having is when I try to master reset the phone, it takes me to the screen that says bootloader, reboot, reload bootloader, power down and I dont know why. The phone master reset fine the first time I attemped, but I just wanted to do it again. I hold the volume key down and power and the normal screen comes out with Fastvoot recovert factory reset clear storage simlock image crc , but when I click factory reset, it boots for 5 seconds and takes me back to the screen that has bootloader, reboot, reload bootloader etc etc. When I power on and off the phone, it turns on and everything is fine. Normal stock ICS.
Why cant I factory reset it again?

cause you relocked it and yes send it LOCKED

Flash a stock RUU via hboot, it's gonna wipe everything and take it back to complete stock.

It will still say relocked... So not COMPLETELY stock
If htc or tmo get a device that is "relocked" that has software issues, the warranty MAY be in jeopardy... If needed
Sent from my HTC_Amaze_4G using xda premium

But if you s-off, restore to stock, lock bootloader via fastboot and s-on via fastboot, it's gonna all be authentic.

Not really worried about it. Just wanna send it in normal, even if it says relocked. If they charge, they charge. I doubt it though. How much they charge anyway, tmobile that is. Might be able to just sell it and make some money and still pay back tmobile, seeing its on ebay for 350ish lol. Either way they already sent me a new phone.
Problem is, I did a clean wipe. Just the first one, not the other wipes. I flashed my Nandroid I made before I flashed a custom rom. Everything worked so I relocked it, but when I try to master reset, it automatically takes me to the screen that says bootloader, reboot, reload bootloader, power down and I dont know why
Am I doing something wrong?
For kicks I even downloaded the ota rom and flashed that one after i wiped the other, and when I rebooted that one , it just would flash the HTC sign. So I scratched that idea and redid what I first did.

Same happened to me. I was locking my buddys bootloader on his amaze before I flashed ics on it for him and it deleted his current rom and all of his pics... Everything ...
Learned the hard way. Then I flashed the ics leak in bootloader and it worked fine.
Are u soff? Cuz if u are... Make sure u have jbear or eng hboot flashed

Also not to mention, when I flashed the ICS zip I found on here , when I went into bootloader, all these weird things poped up about not having .imgs
Nah I am S ON.
I just wanna be able to relock the bootloader and it be able to master reset lol. Not worried about it saying relocked. Like I said, everything was working fine, until I tried master reseting and it doesnt allow it. I mean even from the volume down and power method, when I press master reset, it goes right back to that screen that says bootloader, reboot, reload bootloader, power down, without even reseting or rebooting.
Should I try this method even though I am using the ext recovery? ( when unlocked of course)

Usb debugging is hopefully turned on.
Connect phone to pc and boot into bootloader and go into fastboot.
Open command prompt on pc
Go to the directory where u have the fastboot program (ie "C:\Android\platform-tools" ) and your oem lock token
Type "fastboot OEM lock"
That should relock it.
Then take the PH85IMG and put on root of sd
Boot into bootloader and flash away. U will be good

Not only can you... You MUST relock bootloadee before flashing ics. U can find the 214.531.3 leak in Footballs thread in dev section... Careful not to get 531.1 leak... That's old

Wow I did not know that. I friggin flashed ICS before I relocked lol. I dont get it though. If I relock it first, wont it not have an OS on it after i wipe when it reboots itself. Do I even need to wipe period. Do I even need to use ext lol
I downloaded the tmobile flashable zip from here

Meh anyway the one you told me to download is downloading as we speak. 2 hours left wow
and when I hit the HBOOT screen the first thing it does is say some stuff with no image no image no image no image. All ph85 stuff. Wont even allow me to flash anything if I tried. Im thinking maybe its because I havent relocked the boot loader yet? Who knows. Well see what happens when this is finished downloading

To be honest, Tmo doesn't care what you send back to them, you can just brick it if you're insecure, a bunch of people I know sent it droids with CWM and custom roms, they restore it back to stock and change what they have to when you send it in.
After you install that flashable zip, just restore stock recovery via hasoon's tool and delete the superuser.apk from system/app.

Okay, so I purchased the htc rezound on ebay, the guy has a very high seller rating. Anyway, he FAILED to mention that the phone was "rooted/flashed" or what ever. My problem is that I want ORIGINAL FACTORY rom that would be on the phone from Verizon. I see links about how to get other roms, but what if I want to get back the original? As soon as turned the phone on, it went to the bootloader screen. I figured how to just boot into the regular boot up, then during the boot up you see the htc logo, then the an animation that says "clean rom". How do I switch from that back to the regular verizon factory? (Sorry for the long message).

do a search for the stock RUU and flash that from hboot, i think you will have to relock hboot though first. problem is your bootloader will now say "relocked" so i think the seller screwed you over if you wanted a virgin phone.
Check what version hboot is and post it here and we can help you from there

I try that but it keeps on doing nothing, then when I finally let go of the buttons it just boots up the phone
Soooo.....
Does the fact that holding "power + volume down" and it just stays at the off screen until I finally let go and then just boots up into it's regular boot up mean I'll have to somehow "re-root" the phone? (if that makes any sense)
Honestly the Rezound is much better without the stock rom.

Nope...pull the battery, put it back in, then hold power and volume down. Hold them until it boots into hboot. It sometimes takes 15 seconds for mine. From there you can check if you need to relock.

You are on leaked ics so find the ics ruu and run that and you should be good
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using XDA
Someone installed the latest leak with the new hboot on it, you can't return to a stock GB rom without adding an SD Card fix.
And what's an "sd card fix"? Does that mean I have to reformat the card or something, or is it just something I have to boot from the sd card rather than it being initiated from the computer?

The thing is how do I "RUN" it? What's the process? I've downloaded here on here but I don't know what to do next, other than how to get into boot loader mode. However, it says "relocked" at the top and again, I'm not sure where to run the ruu from. I know I can't do it from the computer because it's a MAC and so far all instructions have seemingly been PC based.
A leaked ICS is a .exe file that runs on Windows, I doubt it'll work on a MAC.
With limited knowledge on how to flash a ROM, your best option is to find a friend that has a PC, download the RUU executable file, boot your phone to the boot loader, and then run the file you downloaded.
Remember that those are leaked images so not being official means there is no support, so it seems you need to run the .exe RUU, which means you'll need to find a PC.

Cannot unlock eBay Rezound

I purchased a Rezound from eBay and it's locked with a gesture lock. The seller told me to do a factory reset, which I did a couple of times, and it doesn't reset the phone to the new activation screen. It looks like he rooted the phone at one point. The recovery screen says "Tampered," "Relocked," and "VIGOR PVT SHIP S-ON RL."
My question is, how do I get past the gesture lock? Will rooting and flashing a different rom do the trick? I am obviously a newbie, and likely wouldn't have rooted it and installed a custom rom if I didn't have to, but it seems like I may have to at this point. Thanks!

Obviously the first thing that comes to mind is if all it needed was to have a factory reset done why didn't the seller do just that and avoid the hassle? Kinda like when you look at a car and all it needs for the AC to work is a recharge..yeah I've been bit by that one before too.
Glad you got it working..youll enjoy being rooted
Looks like it isn't entirely right. I took it to Verizon to get it activated, and I have data connectivity but cannot call or text at all. The software version is 4.0.3 Android with 3.6 Sense. I am going to try to restore the factory version (from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1338916) and hope that does the trick. Otherwise, I guess there's something wrong and I have to return the phone to the seller.

Download that file, rename it PH98IMG.ZIP and make sure it isn't named PH98IMG.ZIP.ZIP and then put that on the root of the actual SD Card. Not the internal memory.
Reboot into hboot, and it will find that file and load it. You will have to chose volume + to accept. It will flash bootloader first, then the radios and rom and such. After this has flashed and booted, delete the PH98IMG.ZIP file from your sd card, and then reboot into hboot and chose factory reset. Let it do its thing, and try a phone call or text on reboot.
should be good to go after this.
I downloaded the file, put it in the root directory of the sd card, and booted into hboot. It says "Loading PH98IMG.zip" for a few minutes, then goes back to the hboot screen. I then powered down, removed SD card, and tried to factory reset. The phone entered the Android system recovery. I rebooted, and the phone seemed exactly the same. I'll retry, maybe I'm doing something wrong.
Update: I've retried a few times, and it just seems that hboot won't load PH98IMG.zip. Might it matter that I'm still at S-ON?

Try redownloading again might have been a bad download. Remember once the file starts to flash it might shut off and turn on and continue doing its thing just make sure when it's all done every item says "ok" next to it if it does your good to go next just make sure you go into bootloader do a factory reset.

[Q] Unroot Question

I have read most of the unrooting issues and am very confused. I am new to rooting and oh so very green.
I tried to root my phone and ran into a problem. I manged to unlock but did not get access to SU. That is not even the issue anymore. I want to return the phone to lock. I assume I did not root since I do not have SU and all the root app said I do not have root access. I was weary of doing it in the first place and not I just want to go back. Not worth it for me. So I guess I need to know..
1 - How to lock it back. It has the "Tampered" "Unlocked" message when I boot to hboot (hope I am using the right terms).
2- I dont think I need to "unroot" cause I was not rooted in the first place and I did not of course add any ROMS.
I have read a lot of info but am a little intimidated but I do have pc skills so I am not TOTALLY dumb. Just dumb to rooting.
I guess I am stuck in limbo with the rooting issues and just want my phone back to norm. It's because I have now seen little stupid things going on with it. Like my volume keeps resetting itself from vibrate. I put it on vibrate and it goes into low loud volume by itself. Something in the root I guess.
Please Help...
Thanks!
BTW I am on ICS.
The only way to remove the "Tampered" would be to flash an RUU. But you have to have your boot loader relocked.
So, relock your boot loader, and then run the latest RUU.

Ok Thanks Graywolf... but I have a couple of questions. From what I have been reading:
1- How do I "relock" the phone. Also I have heard relocking may cause it to brick? I am still "s-on".
2- Will flashing the RUU cause it to brick? I understand through various forums that if I flash the wrong ruu and go back to before my ICS update i cannot get the ics update. Is there a way to flash to the ICS update we received last summer?
3 - Will doing all of this fix the little problems I now have? Like I stated above.. my "vibrate setting do not stay on vibrate. I think if I let the phone screen time out itself (without pushing the power button) when I wake it back up it's on low volume instead of vibrate. If I push the power button to make it sleep, it tends to stay on vibrate. ALSO I now notice that if my wifi is on for instance at home and I leave the house it used to automatically go to 4g. now my radio stays off and i have to turn it on in the settings.
I guess in a nut shell.. if reverting it back will brick it, then I will have to put up with these bugs until I get another later on this year... probably in Oct.
Let me know and thanks alot for your help.:good:
Also...
Will Hasoon's all in one kit fix it?
Anyone? Gray?
Sorry for not replying. Tapatalk has been unsubscribing me from threads and I have to manually go find them.
I will be home in a bit, I will get you links and stuff then.
Ok thanks sir... I do appreciate your help.

First, BACKUP ANYTHING IMPORTANT!
1. To relock the bootloader just reboot to hboot, and select "fastboot". Plug it in to your computer and (I assume you know how you unlocked it with fastboot commands) type into command prompt "fastboot oem lock".
2. The RUU will not flash unless your bootloader is relocked. So do step 1 first and then flash the OTA from this website.
3. An RUU will return your phone to the factory state. This should fix many problems that you may have.
RUU should fix things, and if it doesn't, then you know it is a hardware issue.

fastboot oem lock is not a file, it is a command.
Ok gotcha thanks. It just seemed I remember reading I had to download a file to that folder and then type the fast boot oem command. I will do it this weekend and report back how it went. Thanks!

Hey Gray... ok I was able to relock... however flashing to the RUU from the link you sent.. it didn't work. After I loaded the zip file onto the SD card.. it does nothing when I boot to bootloader... reads zip and comes back and says no image.
The question I have it since I never loaded a ROM or another RUU can I just wipe it from inside the menu and start from start?

Well now that doesnt work. When I try to hard reset the message comes up that it is reseting.. then boots to hboot. It wont factory reset. I tried factory resetting from hboot and it does nothing.
The PH98IMG is not on my sd card... I actually took it out.
Can you reset from a command prompt? Hopefully that will work.

No.
Is your bootloader relocked?
Yes from hboot i have the "tampered relocked" message but it does say relocked. What command do you use to reset?

You either have to flash an RUU or factory reset.
Try this RUU:
http://shipped-roms.com/download.ph....0424r_3622A_MR3_9K_release_270509_signed.exe

Ok and since this is an .exe file...do I do it the same way? Drop it on to the SD card? Do
i have to rename it? Actually I found that I just download it to computer and run it.. does it matter the location of the file?

[Q] What have i done? Can only get in bootloader...

Sooo, playing with rooting, been rooted for a couple days, flashed viperlte rom and had problems and decided to take it back to stock for now. Gonna be on the road and can't be 'experimenting'...attempted to go back to stock, by using the original RUU, and as I understood it, I needed to lock the phone back first. Didn't make sense as I was wondering how I could flash a Rom if it was locked back. After locking, when trying to go to recovery, it just comes back to fastboot. I can't get into the main phone--it boots to a screen, but no buttons work, although if i press volume up/down it shows it on the screen. What have I done?! I'll admit being a newb to phones, so please, some guru help me get back to something
Here's what fastboot shows:
TAMPERED
RELOCKED
SECURITY WARNING
Fireball pvt ship s-on rl
Hboot 1.15
Radio 1.53
opendsp v29.1.0.45
emmc-boot
It wouldn't read either of the mini sd-cards I used after rooting, so I can't just get use my sdcard with a new or original rom. I can't get to a main phone screen to turn on usb debugging, so no adp? Any ideas?

Thank you for the response. Tried this, it loaded the zip, then went to 'checking' and after that, back to the bootloader. Never asked me if I wanted to proceed. When rebooted it brought me back to where I was, a phone which appears to be up--clock works, wifi is on, but I can't do anything. I feel pretty confident the img is good. Thoughts?

XP PC, formatted fat32, put it on root...just tried a different ruu, searched the exact string, the 2.0... and got it from a xda forum member, so I feel confident in the ruu. It did the same thing, loaded it, checked it for about 2 mins, then returned me to the loader. I noticed SECURITY WARNING is gone from bootloader now, FYI. What else can we try?

I can't get into recovery or use adp commands from windows, is there another way I can wipe and flash?

possibly useful info for those who have unlocked and relocked this device

I did this a while ago because i was going to try rooting, then changed my mind. Anyway, no I'll effects, until recently when, T-Mobile pushed out a software update. Tried doing the update (numerous times), but nothing happened. Called T-Mobile; no help. Forgot about it since I read it was a minor update. Anyway, since my phone had been using up batteries very fast, I decided to do a factory reset. Strangely, this did not work either. Again t-mobile ; no help. Then got the idea to unlock the boot loader again and see what happens. That worked. Was able to wipe the phone. Then with the bootloader unlocked, I again attempted to do the software update. Phone rebooted and went right into 4ext recovery and after the update failed at first, giving me a message that the ext. Sd card could not be found. I used 4ext to mount the ext SD, which was not mounted. The update successfully completed. Apparently, with the phone in relocked state, many things seem to be not possible.

Thanks for the response, but can't imagine what I could I have done wrong? All I did when trying to install the update was click the 'update now' box. phone simply rebooted to recovery and did nothing else. Navigated to 'reboot'. Phone rebooted and update was still there un-installed. Checked software version; unchanged. When trying to do system restore, tried it from security menu and also tried booting direct to recovery. Highlighted 'system restore', pushed power button. Both ways and the phone simply rebooted with everything still intact!!
P.S. Didn't know ARHD works with Amaze 4g? Would love to try it, but a little anxious about doing wire thing to get to s-off. It's my only phone. Is it risky?

Well I'm pretty sure that with the locked bootloader and stock Rom there won't be any issues I was not rooted or any of that. And I'm not S-off. I didn't mess with any of that wire crap just make sure you have 4ext recovery and have smart flash enabled in the options and you can flash all the Roms you want. Just make sure before every Rom flash you make sure the smart flash is enabled unless you configure it to stay on.

Ok well what i would do in this situation would be to just start over fresh. First download the newest ruu we have from here for tmobile: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1617644, which would be this one: RUBY_ICS_35_S_TMOUS_2.14.531.3_R2_Radio_1.14.550L. 17DC_30.78.550L.15_release_262141_signed.zip and make sure you rename it PH85IMG.zip and place that on your externel sd card. Once you do that make sure you phones boot loader is locked (i use hansoons tool kit for all this) once boot loader is locked (says relocked) then you can boot into I think its called hboot (the screen where is says locked/relocked/unlocked/) by powering phone off then pushing Vol down key and power at the same time and hold it will bring you to a screen where it will start reading the file you just put on you sd card and ask if you want to update. Vol up for yes and vol down for no select yes and it will do its thing and it will ask to press power button to reset and the will boot up to stock ICS and everything should work fine.
Thank you so much. Actually had to do it a little differently. Downloaded the ruu and renamed it. Put it in the data subfolder of all-in-one kit. Used Hasoon's to reboot to bootloader. Then flashed the ruu using Hasoon's. Same thing, I guess. Anyway, everything works now. I put the PH85IMG.zip in the root of the sdcard. any idea why rebooting to the bootloader did not find it and start the flash? Says PH85IMG.zip not found.

Yes all you have do is first unlock bootloader, then you will need to flash a 4ext recovery, after that root is needed. The easiest way its to use hansoons tool. After all that our done you will need to download super wipe.zip from the arhd page and the room of choice I actually get better battery on NRG stock rom. Boot into recovery flash super wipe it will reboot then flash the rom reboot which will take about 5 to 10 mins. After it boots up I like to let it sit without touching it for 10mins reboot then set up the phone then reboot again and you should be set.

I just successfully reverted my Amaze to sufficient stock to effect the download; download was already on the device but wouldn't install. Here were my steps.
Flashed stock recovery from CWM by extracting recovery.img from firmware.zip inside the OTA update zip.Rebooted into HBOOT, entered FASTBOOT.
=> fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Attempted to apply the update from Recovery. Fail.
Initiated update from Settings | About Phone | Software updates. Update rebooted the phone...
Update complained about a mismatch in build.prop. Oops; I forgot that I'd edited it to override the "HTCLinkify" fix for Apple.
=> Edited /system/build.prop, removed ro.da1.method=enabled line, reverted ro.da1.enabled=false to true.
Rebooted.
Initiated the software update again, which it downloaded.
Started the update again, which rebooted the phone, updated without interruption, and rebooted into the new version (confirmed by popup and Settings | About phone | Software information).
=> Success.
I did not have to relock the bootloader. At this point I'd reflash recovery to CWM or TWRP again, but this was done on a phone which has a defective charging circuit, so I'm relocking the bootloader and returning it to T-Mobile.
