So, i have some sgs2 stock apk files, how can i install them to my custom ROM sgs2 ? if i try to install them it says "X App not installed" (sorry for bad translations)
and some say "You have allready installed same named package, which signature is in conflict with this package"
Try to rename tha apk in apk.bak and paste the new one by root explorer or similar giving sama permission
use thanks button!!
Is it an AOSP custom ROM? If it is, the frameworks are incompatible and you will never succeed.

Try this:
First you obviously need root.
1. Using any file explorer (e.g. Root Explorer, Astro, or ES File Manager) copy the apk files to /system/app directory
2. Mount the directory (Look for "Mount R/W") so that the files can be modified.
3. Change the Permission of the apk files (usually done by press-holding the file and selecting the appropriate menu selection) to rw-r--r--
4. Reboot the device
This should automatically install the apk files at the next boot.
It wont let me copy those apk's to system/app folder. and i didnt find mount r/w from any explorer. my rom is Omega's ics 4.0.4
srry for repost but i found mount r/w and i managed to copy apk's to system/app folder, now just rebooting and i will see if that works
E: It didnt install those apk's, i did just like u said :s

that's not good.
I've used this method to install stock swype and taskmanager apks to cm9 and it worked for me.
Did you update the permissions?
If you have, sorry, I can't help you further. I've read somewhere about "deodex" that may have got to do with it, which i'm not quite sure about.
I've also noticed that apks that are specifically designed for TW don't work on other ROMs.
good luck

Sorry no. That'd be like trying to install Mac software on Windows. Not gonna work. Touchwiz apps cannot be installed on an AOSP ROM.

So I've been looking for a way to get the stock apps for calculator, calender, and alarm clock back onto my vibrant which is now running the vibrant6 rom from eugene...
So far I've seen suggested that we tear apart anomalous's deodexed rom and push the files through adb but I have a horrible 3g connection and it already took me forever to download the vibe 5 and 6 roms and don't want anything else from that rom just the .apks for these apps.
Also do they have to be pushed using adb or terminal or can I just use astro if I have it with rw permission to the /system /data folders n whatnot?
Either way I was hoping someone could post up on here some of these and other stock touchwiz apps for easy dl and reinstallation as I know much more than just myself have been looking for these apps to bring back to our modded roms.
Much thanks to all that could help with this

I would think it'd be as easy as pushing the apks that came with the stock vibrant rom to the current one you right now.

The issue is even if I go all the way back to my old rom through a nand backup you can't grab a back up as a simple apk through titanium and I'm unsure which files i could possibly manually back up to my sd using some sort off root explorer....
Thus my asking if anyone had these apks or files with a method of transferring them where they are needed... I know more then one person is looking for something like this

You must use adb or root explorer to "install" them. You cant just install them like a regular apk.
ADB:
adb push whatever.apk /system/app/ (do the same with the .odex file)
Root explorer:
Just copy the files from your sd to the system folder and reboot.
whoops... meant to post somewhere else, my bust.

Old thread resurrected!
environment: Vibrant rooted w/ Eugene's Gingerclone Final R2
I'm a lil new to replacing system apps, but I read up on this and by all accounts, it should have worked.
Using adb to push the files previously linked to /system/app then rebooting yielded the existing (AOSP?) Calendar still being installed/displayed/used.
Noticed the pushed files had different names.
Renamed source files to match target files and re-pushed. Rebooted. Calendar no longer shows up in application listing.
Used Root Explorer to locate files in /system/app (currently mounted r/w) and tried to install the .apk's; installation ends with msg "Application not installed" with a "done" button to click.
used adb shell to rm the existing Calendar.apk and Calendar.odex, TouchWizCalendarProvider.odex/.apk and TouchWizCalendar.odex.apk and adb reboot.
pushed TouchWizCalendarProver.odex/.apk & TouchWizCalendar.odex/.apk to /sdcard; launched Root Explorer, copied all 4 files to /system/app/ and rebooted.
No "Calendar" or "TouchWizCalendar" or "TWCalendar" etc etc in applications list.
Use Root Explorer to navigate to /system/app/ and try to install said applications and result says "Application Not Installed"
Any help is appreciated.
Does anyone have the Memo app?
Flashed nero v3 and it didnt have it!
Also, i had some important info in there. Will it be there when i push the apk to the sysytem/app folder? My sd card still has everything from before I flashed.
thanks

Please sorry for my English. Help ... I want to install but copy phone.apk system / app says that the application was installed and is not exiting the application factory.
I can do ... I also want to change the original lock screen, but I do not know which file I should change ...
I have original 2.1 eclair
thanks.
try this:
Install root explorer (I´m sure, you can find it here by using the search-button), then go to the folderwhere your new phone.apk is, and copy it. then go to system/app, mount it as "rw" and paste it, and then I recommend you to reboot.

Had already tried, but still keeps showing the original application, and when trying to install from system / app says "the application was not installed"...
Any ideas? with respect to lockscreen, what is the application that performs this function?
phone.apk cannot be "installed". it needs to be "pushed" into /system/app
as for lockscreen, u can either change theme or find lockscreen programs... there are a few in the market.
if u do not know how, i suggest u do a little more finding all the answers are somewhere
After moving an app to system/app, set the permission of the app to rw-r--r-- (Root Explorer)

There is already an installed application (system)
Phone.apk application is not installed because there is an application system that must be replaced, but look for it in system / app and I not find that application, if you know the name (I have the stock rom) to tell me to remove it and install the new application (I think it might not be in system / app, but I do not know where else might be).
Thank you.

Indeed, that is. But it does not let me install the application. says "The application has not been installed", even replacing the message application to install.
And when I call, show an error in the process android.process.acore.
If someone has done this before, please guide me.
R u crazy? Phone.apk cannot be installed/replaced under Android is running! Deleting phone.apk causes force-closes and boot-loop. Only way to change phone.apk is ADB under xrecovery.

funny~ i ALWAYS change phone.apk when android is running works fine so far. hehe. of course i use ADB tho
I´ve modified the reframe.sh by propc for semcphone.apk....just download it and extract it to the root of your sdcard (with your computer or your X8 by using a file manager)
Then install terminal Emulator (if you don´t have it already) and type
Code:
sh mnt/sdcard/SEMCphone.sh
and it should react and show you some text like "replace SEMCphone by propc (modified by codfreak).
This should also work with ADB, but I think Terminal E. is easier
You can also use it for replacing ANYTHING, just open the file on your computer with notepad and rewrite the filenames and directorys.

Yes, I'm crazy ... But thanks to you I remembered that I could change the framework with a script, modify it and it worked SemcPhone.apk to change (replace) the phone restarts, but then as if it had apacerece signal and not making calls.
Please, if someone has changed some StockRom SemcPhone.apk 2.1 per phone.apk tell me how.
Thank you.

think the same idea (I modified de script with office suite in the phone ), but does not work the apk ... I do not know what to do, I have the phone.apk for eclair. and does not work.
Hello, I discovered that the recovery is easier to install, I used a zip signed which contained a framework and add the phone.apk renamed SemcPhone.apk. But the different versions of phone.apk I tried did not work on my stock rom. If you know of any version can be installed, if they have already done so, please comment.
deleted android dialer (oops)
hello, I have a samsung galaxy tab 7 running froyo2.2:" did something stupid, I unistalled the wrong dialer using Ti backup. Its called android dialer. and of course i am experience a hic-cup. Hey.
Im trying to add Root Explorer to a ROM, so whenever I install that ROM, Root Explorer is installed. But Im having problems.
I tried adding Rootexplorer.apk to system/app but when I install ROM and try to run it, it force close and says something about (com.speedsoftware.rootexplorer)
Then I tried to add rootexplorer.apk to data/app
Doesn't appear installed.
I really don't know how to do it and need help. I don't know if im doing something wrong...
i think when you ad any .apk too system/app you need to change the permission to rw-r--r-- and then reboot it should work!!

i think when you make a ROM you need a software that can also set the permissions in the zip file i had seen it yesterday but i dont remember the name
i saw it in the development section in a ROM making guide see if you can find it all the best !!
There's no need of any such software. Whenever a rom installs, all the required permissions are set automatically by the updater-script. And well, if you are planning to release the ROM on xda, Do *not* include root explorer in it. Root explorer is a paid app and adding warez to roms is not allowed on XDA.

Hi guys!
Could someone upload the original SamsungCamera.apk, please? Because when I'm tried to install HX Camera mod, i put the two files into a zip, when the Root Browser crashed. The two files were gone, and the zip became corrupt. After this, i put the mod to system\app. On the first run, it worked, but after a while it crashed. I run the camera again and it crashed after a time, again, and again. So I decided to try the video. And now it doesn't even want to start. So that's why i request the stock camera, and please upload as soon as possible. Thanks.

So, I downloaded this app and I've moved it to /system/app folder and I've tried to install it and it simply says "not installed". I've been searching the net for days now. I've done the following.
1. Root access for Apps and ADB
2. I deleted the CN 9 mod camera app in the /system/app folder (Is there something else that I need to delete?)
3. Installed Busy Box, Astro, ES File Explorer and Easy Installer
4. I successfully installed other stock apps such as S Voice.
I've found similar questions on the net, but no answer. Please help me out!
Set permissions to read write execute / read /read usint root explorer.

Reboot.

Thanks but no dice. I narrowed it down to few possible reasons, all of which I would need help with.
1. Even though, my options say that I'm rooted for "Apps and ADB", I don't think I'm "Fully rooted" as Android Commander still says "no root".
2. I don't have the right drivers. I was told that the "service drivers" are different than the normal USB drivers I get when I plug in my phone and maybe that's why Android Commander might not fully recognize my phone.
3. Permissions. I keep reading about read/write permissions, but maybe the options that I'm looking at is not the same "R/W" in question. I don't know.
4. Everything is correct and I just don't know what I'm doing
So, I realized that the app is a "read only" apk and it wont let me change it's permission in Root Explorer. Is there a way that I can change it? Or does anyone have another SG3 camera apk?
So, after extensive research, it has been reported that particular app doesn't work on custom roms.

U can change it actually in root explorer. At the top right there's R/O, click it so it'll be R/W.. from there u can change its permission. I know this is pretty obvious, but this may help u out. cheers!

For installing ur SmartShare apps, you need to copy that apk in your /system/app folder and give the permission "rw-r--r--" and just reboot your phon..
This work for you..no need to access /system/data folder for installing apk.
Cheers...

Did you put the .apk in that folder or did you run the installer? Typically the installer will install to the /data/app folder then use either Titanium backup or ES File Manager to make it a "System app". Also some apps from stock ROM's do not work on custom ROM's, EX. The HTC weather app will not work on the AOSP ROM I am using now (most likely missing dependencies) and this can be the case with your ROM too
