[Q] [HELP] Bootloader questions - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro

I have an xperia neo v which has unlocked bootloader thru testpoint method.
my question is, do i need to relock my bootloader first before I flash an official stock FW (to go back to stock) ??
OR
just go with flashing without relocking?

You don't need to relock.

Now you would only need to relock when you have to take it to the Service Centre if you wanna claim your warranty back.

Sure, because your IMEI was used for unlocking bootloader.

[Q] Lock back Bootloader for Xperia Go

Is it possible to Lock Bootloader Xperia Go again? Why do we need to unlock Bootloader for Xperia Go if the only one working rom there (zip or FTF) is exactly the same as the Sony stock rom...?

you may want to read this post first: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1527159
yes it is possible to relock bootloader for any android but that depends whether it is developed by devs and available yet for that phone. try find out at the development section for your phone model.
unlocking bootloader is required if you want to root, for superuser function, customize app functions and etc, which cannot be done in locked bootloader. you also don't have to unlock bootloader if you only want to upgrade your phone or change your stock rom to other region stock roms, just flash the file using flashtool. hope this helps

[Q] Not possible to unlock phone - is there anyother method to do it?

Hi!
I've got a problem with unlocking my XPERIA U. It has Orange branded firmware, Android 2.3.7, and I'd like to change it to for example ICS. I wanted to unlock my bootloader, but I can see a message: Bootloader unlock allowed: No.
Is there any possibility to unlock it, or not? And why this phone has no possibility to do it?
Regards,
linoskoczek
Unlock = debrand? If yes, just flash stock ROM 1.54 or 1.75 with flashtool.
You can make branded ftf backup before flashing, just in case.
BTW why do u want to unlock bootloader?

No, you can't unlock your phone. Probably you have simlock and locked bl by operator(Orange). But you can flash fw without Orange apps etc. Just go to development section and download latest ICS fw.

Ahh that ****ty orange...
I've flashed it to ICS, but still unlocking is not possible. Anyway, do you think http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460 will root the phone? It's just a one thing I can do without unlocking xperia.

I think the only thing you can't do in SXP with locked bootloader is flashing custom kernel. So, the answer is yes, you can root the phone without unlocking bootloader as well as e.g. install CWM recovery.

ok from what i was able to understand from op
you want to know whether you will lose the drm keys after unlocking the bootloader
and will you get back the bootloader after relocking the bootloader
correct me if i'm wron
there are two methods of unlocking the bootloader
1. test point method(unofficial) (not easy comparitively )in this method you won't lose the drm keys and you can easily relock the bootloader
2 official method by sony (very easy) in this method your drm keys will be deleted and by relocking the bootloader you won't get back the drm keys
also relocking the bootloader if unlocked by official method bricks your phone
so it's upto you to choose which method you want to use

[Q] Downgrading Xperia Advance ST27a

Do I need to unlock the bootloader if I want to downgrade to GB from ICS?
and is there any other way to unlock the bootloader without the official SONY method?

No. The only reason you have to unlock your bootloader is in case you want to install a custom kernel, otherwise there is no reason. O don't know if there is any other way to unblock bootloader except the one from Sony and honestly I think there is no reason.
To downgrade from ics to gbe you have to install flashtool on your pc and download the gb ftf file and flash it.
There is a tutorial on YouTube on how to use flashtool on arc and the way is pretty similar to st27. The only thing you have to do is find on st27 development thread the drivers and the gb Rom. Here is the YouTube tutorial
