Where do you see "Sony Official Forum" or "Sony Developer" anywhere on this forum, especially regarding the ICS update?
More useless threads hogging up space in the General sub-forum.

I think the forum should implement a rule where new members are not allowed to start a thread till they have replied to "X" number of threads
or
A warning box that pops up telling them not to post till they use the search function. Posting will be disabled until they actually use this function at least once. Yes I have seen this feature on a forum.

Are not allowed to post new threads until they have been a member for "x" number of days. A lot of forums do this, it encourages these new members to actually browse the forum and take look before making new threads like this one.

Let other users know what? I am just following the rules of the forums that you agree to when you register and trying to help keep the ray forum from getting cluttered, just because no one else does anything about it.
There is a Rules post, and a questions post it is very simple yet people do not read and understand

I'm letting chiefy009 help out by creating the questions thread since the XDA administration's decided to leave out a Q&A forum for this device. Just make sure to continue to report all of the offending threads. Hopefully we can keep things relatively clean.

I am quite new to android so I don't know much.
I am really annoyed by the slow speed of Sony in updating the phones to ICS.. So, I am planning to root my Xperia Sola.
I was wondering, will I lose floating touch after root? It's really helpful in browsing and is fun too..
Also, can anyone post a link to a complete rooting guide for Sola? I'd really appreciate..

No you won't lose Floating touch...!!!
But if I were you, I'd wait till ICS, since Sony France tweeted that ICS for sola is just around weeks( I am guessing it should be here till mid sept...just my Speculation..)
and there may be methods in ICS by which sola could be rooted without unlocking the booltloader.
Thanks man. If there's a possibility to root without unlocking the bootloader then I'm gonna wait.. Actually, if I get ICS, I'm gonna wait till my warranty actually ends..

The only available Q&A section is for Xperia S, specifically the section your link leads to.
Secondly, there still isn't any root possible without bootloader being unlocked for Xperia Sola yet.
There's no place else to ask a question specific to this device other than here, despite it clearly being the wrong section...
Hope a proper Q&A + general talk combined section could be made for each specific model rather than lump all models in the same General Discussion section with Q&A for only one phone model in this series.
Well then again, this is the wrong place to make suggestions. lol.

As per rooting,I didn't see unlocked bootloader,my mistake.
It was never said that it is currently possible to root without unlocking the bootloader.. It was only said that it might become possible in ICS.. The question is, what are the chances of this being true..

Ok, someone has made a petition for anyone to sign to make Sony develop Jelly Bean (Android 4.1.1, possibly 4.1.2) for the 2011 devices. It has been quite a while on Ray forum but now it's not really going as planned. It's growing pretty slowly. But together we can achieve much more. I'm posting this on Arc and Neo forums as well. Please sign!!! :good:

i agree with rules but in this case the rules work against us... i would have never found the petition in the general area..
the point is for more people to see it... so i believe an excuse should be made for this...

1. its a Xperia neo/neo v forum not a canvas hd forum
2. in this forum members will create or port apps for neo or neo v only
3. Why dont you use the search, theres many mods & custom rom available for canvas hd including xperia apps
