[Q] How to trick ICS to think it's on WIFI? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am currently running an HP Touchpad with CM9 Nightlies, and use a Bluetooth Modem Dialer to tether to my Blackberry via Dial Up Networking.
However, many apps do not believe they have an internet connection. Anyway around this?
Examples: Browser works, Play Store works, but I can't download apps. Weather Channel doesn't work, but Tapatalk works.
Edit: Could be a carrier issue... but I doubt it. I'm thinking that different apps access the internet differently, I really don't know exactly.

wireless tether and market app conflict

I don't know if this is the right section or not. Its a question so I assume this is right.
I have a droid eris flashed to cricket with eris lightning 3.02, running fw ver. 2.1. Everything works except after I start wireless tethering, the market always says there is a network problem try again. The only way to fix it is to restart my phone.
The market works before I start the tethering, tethering works fine. Even after killing the tethering app everything else still works, other apps can connect fine, it is only the market.
I have been looking around but cant seem to find anyone else with this problem. Its not a huge problem, just a minor annoyance I want to get fixed.
Any help is greatly appreciated Thanks!
Have you tried Google Talk after running tether? May not be related to your problem, I just know there is a dependency.

[Q] how to convince the apps that there is network...

I'm using my Archos with g_ether (usb0) internet connection, after some fiddling, under UrukDroid. That works quite well.
However, when I don't have a WLAN connection up in parallel, it seems that some apps are not convinced that there is internet. Examples are Market, E-Mail, and the Browsers. They all tell me that there is no network connection.
I thought it was a missing resolv.conf, /tmp/resolv.conf to be exact. Created that, ping is happy with it, but still the apps show the same errors...
So, what magic incantations are neccessary to convince Android and its Apps that there is a properly working network connection?

[Q] Desperate for programmer help. Wifi tether not allowing login to PSN on...

Ok somewhat an obscure issue, and the fix that lets a VPN work over tether does not seem to fix it.
I first encountered this on I think 4.3 or 4.2 with my Galaxy Nexus prime. I would use a wifi hotspot, and all connections work fine except for when connecting my playstation Vita. It would say it could not login. So I do a connection test and everything is okay except the attempt to sign into playstation network.
I found maybe 2 other people with the same problem on different devices. I now own a rooted fire phone on 4.6.1. It too has this same problem. And it's believed by some that after 2.1 or 2.2 all native versions of wifi hotspot have this issue. I've tried treve mod, the vpn fix, and a handful of wifi hotspot apps with no luck. I don't know if these apps work as I could not establish even a normal connection through them.
I believe what I need is a kitkat compatible wifi app that doesn't rely on the native hotspot, or some way to modify it if anyone knows what's causing the blockage.
edit: To solve it on my old phone, I actually had to downgrade android to jellybean. I can't do that with this phone though.
Thanks for any help with this.

USB tether DNS issues

Im using stang5litre Edition 5.0 v3 on OF1 I cant rememeber if im on the newest version or not, i feel like i might be on V2. My issue ive been having not only on this rom but the last one i use too(hyperdrive) is with random pages not working when using USB tether AND Wifi Hotspot. Some sites just return a DNS issue. Its really weird. For instance right now i can watch live streams on my DirecTv app on my phone, but my nvidia shield thats on the same network cant, ive also tried this with the wifi hotspot and had the same issue, but it comes and goes. Ill also have google issues alot. Like my phone providing the internet can use google just fine but if i hop on the laptop its hit or miss if i can use google, google.com just returns a dns issues 90% of the time. I dont know if anyone has an idea but im open to suggestions. Right now i have my phone plugged into my Asus RT-AC5300 routers usb port and have to set to android phone for primary wan, works awesome for 99% of tihngs, i just keep having random DNS issues. Im on verizon and have unlimited data

PS4 Remote Play Wifi-only?

So the official APK for PS4 Remote Play is out, but the problem is that it refuses to connect if not on a Wifi connection of some sort.
- Is it possible to edit this restriction out of the APK?
- Is it possible to fake pretending to be on Wifi? I saw something about qaWifiOnlyMode.txt but it didn't seem to work against this. Preferably non-root, if possible.
I was going to ask the same thing? Any solutions or work arounds?
The dev's thatvported it to all androids back in the beginning had got that one goin with cellular networks. I was hoping they could do it with the official one now
We need an updated app that can fake a wifi connection. There was an xposed module that did it but it no longer works and hasnt been updated for years
