[Q] [Unlocking bootloader - problem] - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

Hi. I need some help. I would like to unlock bootloader in Xperia Live. What have I done:
-installed newest SDK
-installed java
-installed google usb drivers
-copied fastboot and other stuff (I've read about that) from older sdk version to new one
-connected phone in fastboot mode
-run command in cmd
And it stays in waiting for device mode
System sees it as ADB, because there were no fastboot drivers, and windows didn't want to accept these usb drivers (check if they are for x64 processors). So I decided to use SE Bootlaoder Unlocker. I put these Java stuff in all 4 catalogs with java files (jdk, jre, fx etc). And installed fastboot drivers as in instructions. Now it is visible as SEMC and SE Bootloader unlocker freezes when I click Unlock BL. I am using Win7 64bit
On XP 32bit it doesn't run (SE Bootloader Unlocker)
What should I do?
And it sometimes reboot from fastboot into charging And always after command in fastboot

Place phone to fastboot mode, turn off the phone, hold down the volume UP button and connect USB cable. Blue LED should light up, nothing on the screen. If it doesn't, then fastboot is disabled for you and you have Bootloader Unlock Allowed: No.

Aaaarrrgghhh! Kill me!!! I was using Vol- That's what I've read, but I had to misunderstand... Now it says ADB interface. Is that all right?
EDIT

Vol has two functions namely fast boot (vol up) used to install custom kernel. Holding vol dwn on the other hand sets it to flash mode used in association with custom ROMs and ftf files.

Its the other way around, vol down is flashmode, for rom ftf files and whatever else, vol up is fastboot for kernel img files and such.
Also there is an easy way to unlock bootloader check this link here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1560613 and thank quangnhut123 for his hard work!!

Bootloader unlocked, now...confusion.

I'm having trouble getting this POS rooted. Got it unlocked with little problem, but now that it comes to rooting, it's extremely confusing to follow the tutorials. Is there any working one-click methods? I'm no stranger to Android OS, I had my Dinc2 rooted in about 5 minutes after unboxing. But this abomination is really working my nerves. Help please?
There is no "One-Click Root"
But rooting using the given instructions is not difficult at all.
Its as simple as downloading a few files, and typing a few codes.
what have you tried so far? and what firmware are you running?
Since you unlocked your bootloader, here is how you get Root
http://forum.xda-developers.com/sho...m.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1130639
download the .img ,put it in your fastboot folder
download the rootxperia.zip to your SD card
Turn phone off, plug into your PC/Laptop and hold search button ( might take some tries) ,you should get BLUE LED
SHIFT+RIGHTCLICK on fastboot folder and open in command window (assuming your usiing vista/win7) and type
fastboot boot recoveryPLAY.img
wait 2 minutes,it takes time.
Apply zip from SDcard and you are rooted

the wait for recovery to load is HORRIBLE!! lol. push the menu button once in a while if you are unsure. i did. it makes the wait (for me) less painful but installing the .zip and rebooting successfully with a rooted phone is AWESOME!!
Thanks for simplifying it for me Cat. I'm sitting here with my blue LED, my blank screen and my command window that now says "waiting for device" so that's what I'm doing. Waiting. Smoke break time.

Sony Ericsson sa0102 is installed, but I'm not seeing anything in my device manager about S1 Fastboot. Hmm...how would one go about installing it? I have the fastboot folder on my desktop. It has two subfolders, Fastboot and USB_drivers .

In this case if it's either still 'waiting for device' or trying to boot recoveryPLAY.img, then you're safe to try again since nothing is being flashed
When connected next time, in fastboot mode, before booting the .img, type this:
fastboot devices 'enter'
It will show a list of devices attached.
It might be that your missing some drivers so fastboot is not working correctly and won't detect your device. Have you pc companion installed? I don't remember if there came any drivers with the fastboot download but check that, there might be some drivers you didn't install.
Regards Dousan...
This is what happens. I just get another prompt. Here's a screenshot of that, along with the drivers folder.

That means no device is connected. Unlike ADB, fastboot does not return the usuall "list of attached devices" line. Have you installed fastboot drivers?

I don't know, I just installed what the guy told me to when he did the remote bootloader unlock. Fastboot IS in my device manager, however, it says there are no drivers installed. I've got the blasted things on my desktop with some DPInst.exe installer, but it says I need the 64-bit version, which I can't find. Microsoft tried to have me download some silly .ISO file but I really think there must be an easier way than to burn some DVD installation disk.

Ok these are the x32/x64 fastboot drivers.
http://www.multiupload.com/0XZV1LXRVA
Download them and unpack them. Connect your device in fastboot mode. Then navigate to device manager on windows, Find the S1 Fastboot thats not installed correctly. go to update driver and navigate to the driver package you just unpacked. Done

Installing ClockworkMod Recovery

Hi,
I'm on the process of installing ClockWorkMod Recovery, stupid of me i forgot to enable USB Debugging option on my phone. Now I'm stuck on Command Prompt saying...
C:\Fastboot>fastboot flash boot recovery-nozomi.img
< waiting for device >
It has been sitting for more than 5 minutes as I am typing now. Should I disconnect the USB cord? Would this action brick my phone?
Sorry for my stupidity!

Hi soulhackereborn!
Sorry for the late reply! Sorry the forum prevented me from posting the URL as I am just a new user here.
"To prevent spam on the XDA forums, ALL new users prevented from posting outside links in their messages. After approximately 10 posts, you will be able to post outside links. Thank you for understanding!"
Anyway the tutorial says (copy&paste):
Use the computer for downloading the CWM file from here.
Then, on the same computer download fastboot from here.
Extract fastboot on C:\ drive.
Then, copy the downloaded “ecovery-nozomi.img” file to the Fastboot folder from your computer.
Now you must connect the phone in fastboot mode with the computer.
In order to do so you must plug the USB cord to the PC, then on your phone press and hold the Volume Up button and while doing this connect the USB cable to your Xperia S.
Up next, on the PC click on “Start -> Accessories -> on Command prompt right click -> Run as administrator”.
The command prompt window will now be displayed.
Now, enter the following commands (press enter after each one): “cd c:\Fastboot” and “fastboot flash boot recovery-nozomi.img”.
CWM will now be flashed.
In the end the “finished / OKAY” message should be displayed.
In command prompt enter “fastboot reboot”.
Your handset should now reboot into ClockworkMod recovery.
Remove the USB cord and disconnect the Xperia S from the computer.

everything seems to be good in the tutorial though..
But what is it a kernel, rom or an CWM image file ???
if still it says waiting for device then here's a couple things you should check :-
1) Fastboot ie; S1 Boot driver installed or no
2) Switch off phone and connect it to the PC via usb holding Volume + button (this is fastboot mode)
3) Check does your device remain in fastboot mode or no i mean purple led light glows stays on continuously or no until u execute the command, if not reinstall the driver and try again
4) If everything well till now try flashing with the given commands without the quotes ie; fastboot flash boot recovery-nozomi.img

3. On my case, it's a blue LED lit steadily after doing step 2. I am using Sony Xperia S.
4. Yes, i flashed them without the quotes.

Usually <waiting for device> can show up when you don't have proper drivers installed. Double check them if you haven't done so.

Yes ur rooted!!
Thanks!
I'm currently downloading Cyanogenmod ver 9.1. Hopefully it works! Thank you so much buddy! You have been very helpful! If I get problems on flashing CM9.1, i'll contact you , hehe
One of the reminders on isntalling CM9 is:
Make sure that your Xperia S is already running a rooted firmware, and that it has the ClockworkMod Recovery properly installed.
How do I know I have a rooted firmware? Do I still need to flash FTF file?
By the way, I am getting a boot loop from CWM recovery, I cant go to the homescreen, no option to turn off! It only reboots the CWM.
(Still downloading CM9 as of the moment)

Guide [for beginners] - How To Unlock Bootloader via Flashtool

I am assuming your phone can be bootloader unlocked and you have unlocking key from sony.
If you don't know then refer to this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1527159
WARNING: IT WILL WIPE YOUR PHONE DATA SO MAKE BACKUP
1. Install Flashboot and Fastboot drivers of Flashtool (setup file will be on C:\Flashtool\drivers or similar place).
2. Turn on your phone, and connect with usb debugging on.
3. Go to Plugins-> Bootloader Unlock option, start it.
4. Now it will ask to disconnect your phone and reboot in FLASHMODE.
5. Again reboot your phone in FASTBOOT mode.
6. It will show a window with your IMEI number, insert your unlock key and click "unlock".
7. The device will reboot and you are done!
FLASHMODE
You can get into flashmode by pressing specific hardware key and connecting phone to pc via USB.
It will glow GREEN LIGHT on led if done correctly.
Hardware key-
Back Button (X8, X10, X10 mini, X10 mini pro, Play, Arc, Arc S, Neo, Neo V, Pro)
Volume Down Button (Xperia U,P,S,Sola)
FASTBOOT Mode
You get into fastboot mode by turning off your phone, then pressing the fastboot mode key button, and connecting the USB to your phone. Done correctly and you should see a BLUE LIGHT on the power button.
Hardware key-
Menu Botton (Xperia Arc, Arc S, Neo, Neo V, Pro)
Volume Up Botton (Xperia U,P,S,Sola)

Yes I checked, it can be unlocked
If you have installed Flashtools and its drivers correct you shouldn't get any driver prompts when plugging the phone in
Assuming you did a default install browse to C:\Flashtool\drivers and execute the drivers file. Make sure you select the drivers for you phone ie "Xperia U" and scroll to the bottom of the list and select Flashboot and Fastboot drivers. From what I have seen so far most people are not installing these 3 drivers.
karimkahale: I would go back to the Sony website and get your unlock code again. Maybe you entered some wrong details...

Thanks a million, but would my warranty be void immediately after I unlock the bootloader, what's the regulation about this matter, I'd like to keep my warranty.
---------- Post added at 10:00 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:45 AM ----------
If i relocked the boot loader the warranty wouldn't be void, right?
Not quite;
It all depends on your repairman...
The standard, though, is, that the warranty is valid if the guys at the repair center can flash a stock ROM (.ftf) onto the phone. Some phones can do this without their bootloader being locked, but some can't do this after their bootloaders are unlocked, even if they are locked back afterwards...
Now, I have a question:
I'm having the same error as karimkahale...
Whatever I do, I get that stupid error, and not even Sony can help me (their support team (that needs a week to reply to a simple e-mail) said that thy don't know how to help)...!
Thanks a lot for the guide, it was really helpful!
Cheers!

You have to, actually....
To relock, you need to flash a ftf file via FlashTool...
Help me I can't seem to choose unlock bootloader from the plugin button?

[Q] I screwed up. Bad.

The summary of what happened is as follows.
I have the HDX 7 and it auto updated to 13.3.2.3.2, so I modified the build.prop to spoof it as being 13.3.0.9
I had done this successfully before (OTA update was NOT stopped by hdxposed) so I was feeling super confident
Here's where I made my mistake though
I forgot to reset my permissions
So, once I rebooted, it obviously didn't work.
In a panic, I tried to factory reset. I should have guessed it wouldn't touch /system .
Now, I personally can't think of any way I could possibly fix this device, but maybe someone here has some wizard magic I could use, I've honestly all but given up hope.
I can still see the low battery icon if it's low and I try to boot it, and I can still get into Amazon's extremely limited bootloader (your kindle could not boot, reboot, factory reset) but other than that I don't think I can do much with it.
Please, if anyone has any suggestions... ;-;
Pretty sure there's not a fix based on all the other threads where people have done the same thing.
Reboot into fastboot and try to flash amazon's stock firmware.

Would this work?
amazon/gp/product/B0099E59SG (sorry, can't submit URL due to being a new user)
If I can actually boot into fastboot and have it work properly, I would be able to flash a .bin to it? I'm sorry for being so ignorant about the subject.
You may be able to flash a .bin if you can get into fastboot mode, but from what I understand, there is no hardware button combo that will get you into fastboot mode unless you have an unlocked bootloader. If you have any sort of adb when it tries to boot, then adb reboot-bootloader may put you in the right place, but if not, then I'm not sure there is much to be done.
I would check out this thread to get some more info on the state of fastboot.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2799793
good luck!
Hmm, unless I can get some confirmation on that fastboot cable, I don't think I have much hope it seems ._.
The only current way to access fastboot mode is via adb, correct?

Does this actually do anything special or is it just an adb/fastboot GUI? Because I'm currently in Linux and installing windows is a /huge/ pain and I'm sure messing with it in WINE would just make things worse... Though if it does actually do something special I would be more than willing to do it for that.
Still looking for some type of answer.
Even if I did somehow access fastboot mode, would it even help me?
Try this (if you haven't already):
1. Setup a Linux environment (Ubuntu 13.04 - is being used on the tutorial) - you can install it on a USB stick and then boot the PC from the USB without making any changes.
2. Install the Android SDK (that you can have adb and fastboot installed) - (follow this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2302780 )
3. Boot the tablet while pressing all the HW buttons (VOL+ , VOL - , POWER Button) - I've read somewhere from @Hashcode that the original firmware has code to boot into fastboot while pressing all the buttons without the need of a "special" fastboot cable.
4. Check the fastboot commands and see if recognizes it.

Will definitely try tomorrow, only difference being I'll be in arch rather than ubuntu, though that shouldn't be a big enough difference to pose a problem. I'll keep you updated with how it goes. Thanks!
Return?
Why don't you just try to give the device back? I'm pretty certain other people have done it.
I don't think

That it really matters if you get it to recognize it or not the device will not accept through fast boot unless it is unlocked from what I understand. What good is fastboot if we don't have any fastboot files in any public way at least anyway that I know. The fastboot commands will work from what I have read but you cannot flash any bin files or any system files. Until it is unlocked and Hashcode says once unlocked everything flashes fine .
Besides he should be working with this thread it has fixed several people with the same problem http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588608 not specifically just OP but there is very in-depth discussion throughout the thread with useful information

TWRP-ROOT Android Pie XZ1

What's needed:
latest Android Pie firmware for Xperia XZ1 (I used 47.2.A.4.41_R4C UK or any version of the 47.2.A.6.30) from XperiFirm
newflasher_v13 tool here
Minimal ADB and Fastboot
TWRP Recovery here
last Magisk.zip here
first copy Magisk.zip to the sd card and insert it into the device
Install TWRP:
launch flashtool and download the latest firmware 47.2.A.4.41_R4C with XperiFirm ....
follow the path C: users / name / .flashTool / firmwares / Download
locate the unzipped firmware, open the folder and delete all the .ta files; then open the boot and partition folders and do the same thing
search the internet or XDA newflasher_v13 tool and place all 7 files in the C: users / name / .flashTool / firmwares / Download / 47.2.A.4.41_R4C folder
connect the device in flash mode
launch the .exe command
press "n" and again "n"
finished the firmware flash unplug the phone
When the first ignition is finished, open the debug and connect the mobile phone to the PC
open the folder Minimal in the path C: Program / Minimal and paste in the folder the recovery.img, run cmd.exe type the following commands
Code:
adb devices
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot devices
fastboot flash recovery namerecovery.img
fastboot reboot
finished the start of the phone, turn it off and go into recovery mode (volume down + power button)
flash Magisk from the sd
turn on the cell phone and the root is done
Special thanks
oF2pks for the TWRP
munjeni for the newflasher
So, what do we lose in this process? Granted it's been reported that the camera is working without the need for a DRM fix, but do we lose other things like video and sound enchantment options?
I have pie stock...can i start guide from point 10 ?

In my experience I can tell you that nothing is lost on the camera neither in the sound effects nor the color effects on the photos ...

Absolutely yes
From the use I note that the recovery doesn't read the internal data, but only the sd card. I still don't understand if it's the firmware that has bugs or the twrp that still isn't calibrated for Adroid Pie.
Edit: I found in the XDA site the recovery for the new firmwre and everything works fine here
Would this work on SOV36 (AU XZ1)?

Honestly I don't know, but if in your device install the firmware that we install in the g8341 means that you can. I'm thinking it's the same thing!
Sorry, but the requirement is always with unlocked bootloader? Thanks
Wait... I'm confused. I need an unlocked bootloader for this correct? Also, am I missing a step? I can't seem to unlock the bootloader. I have the key from Sony, but whenever I turn off the phone and try to enter bootloader mode (volume up + usb charger), the notification light turns blue, and that's it. Nothing appears on my screen, if I type fastboot devices, no devices appear as listed. And if I try to run the line of code, I'm just stuck "waiting for device" and nothing happens? Am I being stupid and missing something? Don't remember having this many issues with my htc m9.

Are your drivers properly installed reason I am asking is you're not getting a return when you type in fastboot devices, go back to you developer setting, revoke your debugging , then reinstall your drivers turn on USB debugging and see what happens?

Hmm, I think I know why it wasn't working? I got the xperia xz1 drivers off of the sony developer website, and I went to device manager and tried to do the legacy driver install, but I keep getting "This device cannot start (code 10)" Maybe that's the issue? And if so, am I installing it wrong or something?

Did you disable the driver verification signature?
(https://www.howtogeek.com/167723/ho....1-so-that-you-can-install-unsigned-drivers/) then reinstall min adb fastboot drivers and Sony companion and let it detect your phone..

I was under the impression that flash tool is used to get the latest version of the pi (which I already have as the update rolled out a few days ago)? Not for unlocking the bootloader? As for my bootloader, I'm stuck on that step. I'm following sony's steps on unlocking the bootloader, however, I'm stuck on the fastboot as my device isn't recognized. I guess I'll try again from the top, uninstall all the current drivers and reinstall them again.
I also want to add, whenever I plug my phone in into bootloader mode, the pc does recognize that a device is connected as the notification pops up, but again, "fastboot devices" returns nothing. Is there supposed to be a screen for the bootloader? Or is it just a black screen with the blue led?

Once you get your driver's fixed, just follow the directions given by Sony.. Your phone screen will remain black as all info will be done on your computer..

Absolutely no, flashtool doesn't need to unlock the bootloader, rather serves to re-lock it in some xperia devices. To unlock it you have to use cmd commands in adb & fastboot, but you can find it here in the XZ1 section.
The cell screen remains black and a blue led appears if you connect in fastboot mode, if you connect in flash mode the screen remains black, but a green LED appears.
if you have problems with the recognition of the device on your PC I can link my guide, it's in italian but if you use google translator you understand it well here

I've checked out the thread but it appears only a few with the xz1 have tried it and they didn't report the outcome, well except one who somehow managed to turn his device in an expensive paperweight.. But I will check it out this weekend..
