Found wanted to know if anyone knew anything about them. they looked cool and figured they might be worth getting.

lol, awesome. i want it.

I think carrying around something like that would eliminate the convenience of carrying a smartphone.

^ And most people don't need 10x magnification at all times. I'd toss it in my car when I was on my way to a place that I knew would have nice scenery... nobody would carry it around all the time.

If I went on such a venture, I would rather have a DSLR which is actually meant for that sort of task. I snap pictures with my phone for the convenience. Lugging around something like this would make things rather inconvenient.

I'm curious about the responsiveness of it, I'm sure it's a bit laggy, but I still want the chance to play with it.
Cool idea... but $Dang...
So if you give $59 you can get one. Is this a legit thing tho? I've never heard of this site. Seems legit tho.
Now they need to upgrade their idea to drive real cars. There have been several occasions where I'd have loved to been able to drive my own car... from the back seat or the roof.

Be your own chauffeur, perfect.
Think about how much fun you could have with this setup. I will tear one apart and use the system to control whatever I want. I'd pay $60 just for that. I'd really like to adapt it to my R/C Rock Crawler. With a little work, I'm sure you could make it do just about anything. Then tear the .apk apart and rebuild it the way you want... The possibilities are endless.
I would be very interested, but just seems strange that the power plant is based on 3 AA batteries.... I never really enjoyed RC cars until the use of battery packs... the car did look pretty quick in the video... I don't know...
cool concept but imo its not worth it...... 30 ft range seriously??
Ahahahahahhaha! Make your own for like $200 with an arduino and an RC car.

yeah, RC car with 30 foot range? I'll take a separate remote, thanks. 30 feet is not that far. just try walking away from your phone with a blue tooth headset, it starts getting fuzzy before thirty feet too. that's a fail.

Why does these things have cameras?

Do you guys really take a lot of pictures with a tablet? It just seems so silly to me. I would NEVER take a picture with my tablet when I have an EVO 3d to do that. I guess maybe for video but even then, I've got a much smaller device that can do it really well.
Because camera are fun, because there s a camera button on every single apps in Android. Because cameras are a part of what makes those modern device so well connected to everything around us and so unique and fun to use, it's the same as GPS, gyroscope, lightsensor. There are AR apps, photoshop, movie maker and all sort of stuff that make good use of the camera.
If you take away the camera, you loose this part of what makes mobile device that much more fun to use, you lean the tablet toward the laptop world were everything is less simple but more powerfull. So you loose what makes it great without having what makes laptop better.
It may look silly holding a tablet to shoot some photo but lets be honest 10 seconds. It doesn't look THAT MUCH more silly than taking photo with anything else. Right now the silliest is that camera on tablet are awfull so taking picture with it means you re dumb or at least tasteless. With a good camera on a tablet and you happen to have your tablet in your hand at this moment, why not take the ****ing picture directly with the tablet ? Who cares what people think ? In 5 years from now everyone will do it anyway.
Camera not only take pictures but good for web chatting, email, Facebook communication and etc.
These things does has cameras in case you are sitting somewhere playing with your tablet and bigfoot walks by. By the time you get out your Evo 3d bigfoot has sauntered into the nearby woods. Oh yeah and video chat.
I find the camera very handy on my field.
I have to walk and check operations and take notes. When I find something that's not working I quickly take a picture and make notes highlighting the problem and quickly sending an E-mail to have a resolution.
i'm not really sure what the issue is?
do you want less stuff for the same amount of money?
anywhoo, like it's been stated, FFC is great for video chat, and a rear camera is handy to have if nothing else is in your hand at the moment, or for AR apps, etc.

I guess I should've stated the rear facing one, i understand why you'd want a front one.
For me personally, I'd never use a tablet to take a picture, ever. And not because you might look "stupid", or "dumb", because it's bulky and I'd be afraid I'd drop it!

But it is there if you ever need it. If you are holding your Prime and your phone is in your pocket and you see something you need a picture of it makes more sense just to hit the camera icon and take the photo with the tablet rather than fumble around to get your phone out. I for one would be annoyed if it wasn't there. I would even be annoyed if it didn't have the flash ala the TF1.

while i'd never use the camera on the ipad2, xoom, or even the galaxy tab unless i had no other choice, the camera on the prime has been getting pretty decent reviews, so if i happened to be holding it, or it was more handy than my phone or digital camera at the moment i wanted to take a picture of something, i wouldn't mind using it.
but i don't think anyone is looking to use any tablet as a camera replacement, but an AR POI app would need a rear camera to function, so i'm glad it's there.

What he said. I am going to use this to replace my work laptop, as I mostly use it for some minor word/excel work and Email. I am a R&D chef, and am constantly snapping pics of steps in making a new product, or new products I have seen, etc. This will keep me from having to transfer from another device. I expect to use it to record video demos as well for our web site.
Then of course I can game on it when in a hotel room or at home.
Think about "scanning" stuff and make notes on it with a pen on the go ;-)
I don't think its really needed but you can get creative with it. Its nice to have anyway and afaik its the same as the iPhone 4s uses so its gonna be a good one on the prime.
They should have ditched the camera (s) and knocked 50 bucks off the price and put in a bigger battery! Or that second speaker you all want!
Anyone taking a picture with a tablet looks like a retard! Plain and simple! And why would you want to see the person your talking to? It's dumb just call them or go see them!
There is no point to a camera on a phone or a tablet I've used my evo camera like twice! And I've had it forever!

[Q] active digitizer quality?

I've been researching Tablets and i must be able to write notes with ease. I've read the best stylus is the Jot Pro which i've gone and purchased. I've also read that writing with a active digitizer is the best for taking hand notes.
i've yet to read about "active digitizer" in any of the specs for the TP so i was wondering how it would compair to a active digitizer screen? Also to what degree would it be better or worse?

Trust me, if you put conductive grease in your jot ball, you won't see any difference between using that on the TF or TFP and a tablet with digitizer.
Active digitizer has pressure sensitivity. Although it can be... less precise than Adonit (because some active digitizers are innacurate when holded on different angles).
Unfortunetaly Transformer doesn't have one. Adonit was supposed to show active digitizer for all tablets on CES. I wonder what they will make.
Thanks. I ask because i was watching a video smackdown between the TFP vs. Motorola Droid XYBoard and she specifically made a point that Active Digitizer screens are better for note taking.
She did not mention how much better these screens are and with all the people here saying the Jot Pro is amazing with the TFP, it can't be that much better.

I know what video you're talking about. Reviewers are not gods. They know a lot of official stuff, but they don't know **** about real life stuff. Most reviewers still say the ipad2 is much much much better than the tf. The tf has been out for how long? Most reviewers still criticize the tf keyboard for not being able to disable the touchpad. Hint, its a shortkey on top somewhere.
Reviewers are good at giving you first impressions. But they suck at telling you about real life applications.
If you'd rather put your trust in reviewers, then you should get a motor xyboard. I'm telling you from real life experience. You won't notice a difference.

Yeah, people tend to trust those with authority these days. Somewhere along the line, people lost their trust in real life experience.
Take my g/f's dad, for example. His win7 computer stopped animating the windows when he move them around. It bothered him so much that he called in a geek squad guy. The geek squad guy said there was nothing he could do but reinstall win7 OS. Wanted to charge him $200 for it. My g/f and I happened to walk in at the time. My g/f told her dad to let me try fixing it. He hesitated (because I wasn't a geek squad... and geek squad knows everything, right?), and said sure why not. It took me a whole 2 minutes to fix his problem. All I did was went into the windows animation settings and reset the damn thing.
Think about it. He came this close to paying $200 for a geek squad know-it-all to re-install windows for a settings problem.
To this day, I still write to reviewers every time they got something wrong. What's disappointing is after I've written my lengthy correction, they still get it wrong in their next review. The TF keyboard is a perfect example. Back in May, reviewers were all criticizing the TF keyboard for not having the option to disable the touchpad. I promptly wrote to every one of them informing them of the 4th button from the left top row. The same reviewers are now *****ing about the prime keyboard not having the option to disable the touchpad. It seems like these guys picked up the TF, xoom, or whatever, used it for a whole 5 minutes, and then declare themselves experts of all things tablets. It's effing annoying as hell reading their reviews. They get so many things wrong!
In addition, most of the tech industry have been taken over by apple fanboys. Take a look at the following article written just a few days ago.
http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2012/01/ces-tablets-redemption/all/1
Notice that the transformer was not mentioned at all in that article. Instead, the writer pointed to all the failed tablets (xoom, touchpad, etc.) declaring them to be the only examples of non-ipad tablets. As a matter of fact, even as the prime is being rolled out, reviewers continue to ignore the asus TF/TFP. Despite the fact that the TF is now the most successful android tablet, reviewers still want to pretend like it doesn't exist and that the game really is about between the ipad2 and the xoom.
But I guess I'm just a nobody and they are reviewers so they must know everything there is to know about these devices.
Its called ignorance
So about taking notes with a pen like the JotPro, is it cool? I mean would you guys go into a semi important meeting with just the prime and no paper?
And is there a note taking app that lets you rest your hand on the tablet in any way while writing (some dedicated space would be fine i guess)?
->nevermind this, just found that in another thread:
(5) Writepad stylus - note taking app with palm rejection, meaning you can rest your hand on the screen and still be able to write. Can save your notes as pdf docs.
Had the jot pro, disliked it enough that I returned it this morning. Half of the time it missed the lines I was writing. I switched to a targus and it works much better. I think the JOt Pro has such a small surface that it just lost connectivity with the screen. I tested it on a screen with no protection on it btw. It probably would have been worse with a screen protector.
I have not found a note taking app that does good with hand rejection. I just use the hover above method.
That being said, I do only take the Prime to meetings, no paper, and take notes all the time. Works great.

[Q] How do you like your Ultra? Thinking about buying one

I have been on the fence for a while. I've watched literally every video I can find and read every review. I'd like to know how you feel about your Ultras in day-to-day use. Any regrets, etc. If you wouldn't mind taking the time to answer some or all of the following questions:
For reference, I have had a lot of different smartphones over the last few years and I currently own a Lumia 1520 and Note 3, so I'm fairly versed in the "big phone" category, though this is the biggest.
How is the size working for you? Issues with pocketability, etc? I know it's not a one-handed phone by any means, but do you wish for something smaller at times?
Does the pre-installed screen protector bother you at all? How is the screen overall, in your estimation?
Do you regret not having a better camera when you need to take photos, especially in the dark?
Do you feel that having a such a large screen to consume media justifies lugging around a phone this big for everyday use?
If you could change just one thing about the device, what would it be?
Lastly, does the phone have burst mode? I haven't been able to confirm this anywhere. I know about time shift, but I'm talking about the hold for burst setting. If so, how fast is it?
Thanks for any feedback, guys. I'm really intrigued by this phone and I'd just like to know how some real owners feel about it.

1. The size is just fine now. I've had mine since its European release back in September, so i've used it for awhile now. It was a incredible big in the hands the first week i had it, but you know how things seem to "shrink" the more you use it and getting used to it? That'll also happen with the Ultra. It's not that big anymore.
2. It doesn't bother me, but i'd rather not have it on. You can't see it or even notice it though, so it won't bother you from day to day. It scratches easily though, so keep that in mind. You may want to add a second protector on top of the pre-installed one, or remove the pre one and use it naked (without any protection) or add a third party protector. It's up to you.
3. I take about 5 photos a year, so that's a no. I knew the camera wasn't good long before i bought it, so i don't really care. It would've been nice to have a LED though, but again, i don't really care that much. The quality is okey if you keep the ISO low in brightly lit environments though, but don't expect amazing results.
4. Absolutely. It's incredible thin, so it's not hard to take it with you, but you can't exactly put it in your pants pocket and expect it to still be straight after you've been sitting down. You'll learn to take it out of your pants pocket before you sit down. The Ultra is also as wide as a passport, so it fits perfectly in inner blazers pockets.
5. Easy. Camera. I don't use it much (as mentioned), but it's still nice to have a good camera when you want to take a few pics.
6. Yes, it does have burst mode. I believe it can take 10 photos per second. It's very very very quick.

Yeah, that's totally possible. The better thing to do (like i do), is to get the DK30 dock and use it on your nightstand/night table (if you have one). It'll stand on its own and act like a mini Bravia TV It's perfect.
Size is effectively the biggest pro on this phone (duh). You can easily put it into your coat/jacket pocket, and also in a lot of jeans pockets, but like Lord said, you'll have to get used to take it off any pocket (except jacket I guess) and put it on the table when you sit down.
I use it as my principal phone, so the size is no problem at all. Also, I have big hands and can use it one handed lots of times.
I installed a screen protector as soon as it came out of the box, used it with a matte and clear one, clear one is better for the screen. If the film put by Sony bothers you, you can just take it off (with sweat and pain).
Yeah, sometimes I do. But I knew what I was buying, and if I do have to take good photos, I either have my camera or the QX10 with me, so I don't regret it anymore.
Well, that depends on how important that thing is for you. You may get it for media consumption, but you'll end up using it for everything else too, asking yourself how could you go back to anything smaller.
I'd say camera.
As for burst mode, it has one, it's fast, and timeshift is even better.

1) I got it because of the size. I was on iPhones for the preceding 6 years but got hold of a Nexus 7 at the end of last year. Within a week I flogged them both to get an XZU. It was frustrating having 2 devices so functionally similar - what device shall I check my Evernote account on now? for instance - so I thought this would be the best compromise. If anything it could be a little bit bigger (but I am very tall with presumably corresponding hand size!).
2) The screen protector is pretty good IMO. I'm sure if I shave it off like so many people on this forum have it will look even better though:silly: I never used protectors on the iPhones and this seems to be as responsive to touch as they were.
3) Camera isn't too important to me but I'm old. If I were a young man out raving and partying I think I would need one but I only use it to take pix of my dog these days so not a biggie.
4) ABSOLUTELY!!!!!!! I use this a hell of a lot more like a computer than a phone. With some apps you might need to faff about in Xposed to get the best real estate value but this is basically a tablet.
5) Other than the camera a better magnetic charger. It works well in dock but I've tried 3 cables from eBay and they just don't work.
Caveat to the above: I use it with a SBH 52 and a smartwatch 2. Without these 2 it would be more fiddly to use. I'd be less inclined to take it out every few seconds like I did with my iPhone, but if my notifications are all in ear or on wrist I don't need to so...
I got it because with stock version when I paired it with xb90 earphone then, the sound output it gave was mind blowing. But, with the latest update things seems to have become disappointing

Motorola Keylink Review

I purchased 2 Motorola keylinks one from Motorola's website and one from a T-Mobile store. I want to share my though about this little device.
Let me start by saying the keylink is much smaller than I imagined it would be. The device itself isn't anything fancy its just a little triangular key fob with a single button and a hole in the back whose function I am not sure of at this time. The fob won't get in your way like the battery pack micro would and I don't even notice that its there.
The Motorola connect app is what is used to find your phone or Keylink should you misplace it. If you lost your phone simply double tap the Keylinks button to have your phone chime in a really annoying "come find me and shut me off" fashion.
Edit: I found out what the tiny hole on the back of the Keylink is. Its a speaker for when you "Ping it" from the app. The button on the back also flashes green to make it easier to find. It should be noted that you hedge to press the button to get out to stop beeping unless there's a set time it beeps for. (I haven't tested it to see how long it beeps for before stopping)
(I blacked out the street names in the screen shots for privacy reasons)

did you ever use the moto power pack micro prior to this?
i use the power pack micro and it does not get in my way at all. i have push button start in the ride so the keys stay in my backpack, etc.
different strokes i suppose. i picked up the power pack micro for its charging gimmick and the fact that i can attach it to the moto 360s charge base (i carry one around in my backpack) so i have power to charge that little guy when needed.
appreciate you taking time to post on this gadget. you answered the questions i was wanting to know...

Its just too big for me. I tried one out and I didn't like it. I understand everyone has a need, I was just addressing those of us who want something small that can fit easily into your pocket without adding a huge bulge.
I think the micro is good for some but not everyone, I like to have the bare minimum when I carry my keys as you can see, but if I left it in my bad out wouldn't be bad at all, however I prefer it on my keys where I can't lose it.
i purchased a keylink too mainly for the trusted device. Im loving it so far no problems here.
Anyone know if these are water resistant? I drive a motorcycle, sometimes in the rain and through puddles.

The are "splash resistant" just like the Moto X and Nexus 6 so it should be fine. If you look at the image I posted of the box you can see it mentioned on the back.

whoa I thought I was the only one who drove a KIA and had the nexus 6
might have to try one of these out even though it bugs me to have a lot of extra on my keys.

I like my keys to be minimal as well. I used to have a Ford SUV but I couldn't stand how many issues it had (I bought it new too). I love my KIA, its Android inspired because I can.
Anyway the Keylink is small enough not to notice so I would give it a try. T Mobile was sold out all around where I was, I called 7 stores to find one.

I have an '08 Ford Expedition. I bought these aftermarket flip-keys on eBay from a place close to me in NY and have worked great. I dont think the Keylink will add much heft to this LOL
I never even knew T-Mobile sold the Keylink. I didn't see it on their website, but T-Mo's Accessories website is horribly laid out.

They have it in store you just have to call and see if it's in stock. I love my Keylink and its much easier the way that you have it. I keep my house keys separate from my car keys because I don't like everything on one keyring. The Keylink is less than half the size of your key judging from in the picture. I hope you like it as much as I do. It doesn't do a lot but it does what I need it too and thats start makes it great.

I bet my needs are simpler than yours. I want to keep my phone locked. If I am at work, i dont like the hassle of a lock. but if i walk away to hit the restroom, i wont have a coworker sending out funny messages from my phone

Yeah that's about what I need mine for. I goto school for engineering and if I lose my phone I don't want someone to get into it. I hate putting in a pin or password so this is easier for me.
Thanks to my XDA buddy @Pilz, i ordered this, and FedEx delivered one day early. I am impressed by the build quality, and the Motorola Connect app. I attached a photo of it attached to my car key fob to show size.

It looks so tiny next to your car key. My second one came today too! This is easily the best little device.

To me, it actually looks bigger in my photo than it really is. i dont even realize its hanging on my keychain most times.

That's how I feel, I forget that it's there until I look at my keys.

Ironically my best friend also has the same lanyard for his Ford Expedition. He got it when he took flying lessons.
I received my Keylink today, the build quality is excellent, but I hate the fact you have to use Motorola Connect, keep location settings on, and give them permission to collect data in your phone....
