1. I'm not english so sorry for grammar errors;
2. I hope i start a thread in the right section;
I have seen on various blogs that the team Cyanogen , has compiled a new code for Cyanogen mod, called him "Linaro". I'm trying to see if this will ever developed for our evo 3d. Thanks to all.
It was developed by someone who gave it away to be compiled in cyanogen, and apparently they were already looking into implementing it into cyanogenmod and should hopefully be out soon.
Maybe
Thanks for your response, in fact I went to see the post about the development section but it is a lot that is not updated.
If cyanogenmod supports the GSM EVO 3D, we will have linaro once its submitted and incorporated into it.

A) This is incorrect, we do have camera in CM
B) The camera isn't even all that amazing to begin with, and if I could trade the camera for a fully working CM9 build, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Why so negative?
Not quite a year (June 24th) And considering the rate of source release-- I'd say we are doing pretty good. Most people don't even realize that CM9 isn't even out of alpha. Once Agraben gets his kernel merged we should pick up an official CM9 nightly and quite of few of these new commits.
If anything should be blamed it's the fact that we have a 3D phone. The EVO3D never saw the same adoption that the EVO4G did, and the 3D really complicated things for developers, especially considering HTCs TERRIBLE policies regarding source release. Binary blobs also do not help the situation. So many things have had to be reverse engineered which has cost time. Look at the LG 3D phone -- It has even less development that the 3D, and zero hope for 3D in CM.
That being said, I feel we are in a great place right now. ICS+Sense is pretty damned good compared to GBSense. And the fact that we have active development on CM (with 3D!) is a great indicator of the future of our device. We really are barely at the halfway point for device lifetime.

camera code and the 3d screen api are a custom piece of code, statically linked to the 3.6 sense api and HTC wont release their source, so yes.
What strikes me is that gta 3 on iPhone works great, but on Evo3D with better hardware it is not so fast. We need new libraries, so linario is a very good idea. I hope, that it will be compatible with sense and cm9 roms.

I did bring back my first E3D over boredom and lack of AOSP. That thing with CM7 was so fast for a single core...totally spanks a stock E3D....but it was not a dual core and would be quickly outpaced by a dual core with CM. That's why we want CM on an HTC.
But the lack of dual core Nexus option and not to mention that NS4G felt like a childs toy...a cheap childs toy actually...that's what brought me back to E3D. Though I'll probably jump ship to the nPrime whenever that comes out (1.5ghz dual core & 1280x720 SAMOLED+) regardless of the cheap build quality....I just hope the screen is over 4"
Sure, Sense does run better than ever on this phone, but, that ROM is like, what, 400-500 megs? A stripped down AOSP 80mb ROM on this monster hardware will blow stock performance out of the water...I'm getting a nerd-bonar just thinking about it.

Well you have to account for the facts here. Like fact the sensation has gotten a sense 3.5 leak so that explains why you might view theirs as better than the ones here. Though the ports here are damn good if you ask me personally.

Sadly the Evo 3D does kinda feel like a black sheep at the moment..
The main reason they have so many roms is because its a GSM phone. And a popular one on that. All sensation devs from around the world can make a rom and it run on practically any sensation. Us one the other hand are limited cdma, U.S. devs on sprint. Don't get wrong we have some great ****ing devs, we just can't logically match in terms of numbers. And about cm7 I believe both the 3d's and sensation was released on the same day (exact same time). I truely think that we have just as much progress with aosp, its just behind closed doors. I have spoken with some teamwin members and they all have seperate pieces of the build they are working on. Dont forget they are also bringing us twrp 2.0 I hope we get something soon because waiting does suck

yeah you right, i was looking on my phone and just looked at the updated date not the initial post date on our section hence being wrong before.
With that said being the hardware is very similar aside from 3D, it seems that aspect of it is causing the bigest hang up right now. Good thing is toast's last post comented on it saying he had made some good headway on it.

Yea, the EVO 3D development is lacking a helluva lot more than I thought it would be. I figured since the Evo 4G got so much love, the the 3D naturally would. WRONG lol.
I love the phone, but I'll definitely pay more attention to dev support next time. We have a couple nice roms here, MAYBE 1-2 decent themes, but that's it. My phone functioned just as well and looked pretty close to the same when it was unrooted with a custom skin.

Same here. Got the Evo 3d thinking Revolutionary and Devs be all over it but the GSM version turning to be a fizzer. I sold my Evo 3d to get a Sensation but next to the Evo looks crap. So now will wait for Samsung Nexus knowing it will get lots of love. Can't see much of a future for Htc if gets harder and harder for s-off etc.
Yea, I'm jealous too. I gotta admit that there isn't as much dev interest in the Evo 3d as I had expected.
If anything I'm only a tiny bit jealous. We have plenty of devs and plenty of roms here. to my knowledge the only major improvement 2.3.5 brings is NFC and neither of us have a chip for it lol. Moreover Sense 3.5 has a couple little things added but 3.0 runs just fine
Had to re-ignite this because they now have ICS with Sense 3.5
...definitely jealous :-(
Hi, I just wonder how long it takes to port sense 4.0 to android 4.0 after android 4.0 released oficially for evo 3d. As we know ics update will come to evo 3d gsm with sense 3.6. But i like sense 4.0 more than 3.6...
Now i don't want to port ics roms because they don't support 3D and some minor things...
It's very much a science. Lots of research, development and a ton of trial and error goes into it.
An estimate is tough
I would say it's in the ballpark of 1 to 60 days though.

It seems to easy to us but i know developers work for hours, days and weeks... Virtuous team started to port sense 4.0 to htc one's android 4.0. It is really bad to wait oficial ics; and it is worse to wait sense 4.0 with ics than waiting oficial ics
Given that HTC have access to android source, sense source, and drivers for the kernel they should be able to get a working rom in a week or less. Sense only slows down the release of updates as they then have to go and debug the problems sense caused.
/edit They = HTC, They have no reason to update a phone once released thus will put it on the back burner and and take as long as they want to release stuff like android 4.0 because people will buy a new phone.

I dunno what makes camera work. Android or sense? If the answer is android, we should have a working camera when ics for shooter released. If it is sense, maybe htc one's sense codes aren't fully suitable with evo 3d so it will take more time to have working camera with ics with sense 4

I've also noticed Evo 3d appears to be dying. Well, at least slowing down at the moment.
Don't upgrade just because that's what others are doing, especially if you can't afford to. It's a good phone. Hopefully more development will start on cdma/gsm. The specs on this phone are good. I came from the Nexus S 4G which has weaker specs but the development was good. We have plenty of Sense, but it would be cool to see more AOSP roms for the 3D though. I would think about Android development, but I've only compiled a rom and moved apks into an existing Rom etc. Unless someone wants to show me the ropes. More development the longer the relevance.

I thought I won't have to buy a new phone for at least 2 yrs to have newest android version. Here in polish reality its quite a big amount of money to spend to have such a phone. Sensation seems to have more devs but it has a bit worse specification. Don't want to upgrade, it costs too much. I'd buy nexus but it's design and battery sucks. Also sense is important to me. I could resign from 3d functions (who needs it...) to have always newest android version. Would be great. But I see many people outside of Poland upgrade their phones just if there comes a new one... I want to keep mine working for a few years, I'm happy with it. I don't belive the new Android will need tegra 3 to work properly. Two cores at 1.2 GHz really lasts for me. Only software is the problem I see.

It's funny, since Jelly Bean was released, I've been wanting to give up on my Evo 3D and get a Galaxy Nexus. HTC is really being lazy with our phone (I have the GSM version) and it took them EIGHT freaking months to release ICS. That's way too much time, especially given the development pace of Android these last few months. I can't even imagine if they decide to release JB or not. Probably not though. *sigh*
It's a shame because I really think the Evo 3D is a great piece of hardware and is capable of running JB just fine. And the 3D features give it a little something more over the competition (even though, I'll admit it, they're not essential).
Not to mention LeeDroid being absent (for personal reasons I totally understand, don't get me wrong here), the GSM scene only has a couple of decent ICS roms. Having browsed both threads, they don't seem as polished as LeeDroid's (no offense to the devs').
But anyway, sorry for my rant here. Just my 2 cents.
CDMA 3D's havent even received an official ICS update yet, but to compensate that we have some great development around, Virus makes multi (GSM/CDMA) 3D roms (sense 4) they are nightlys but pretty stable for the most part, and we have a port of JB on the 3D but nothing on the LTE not even official CM support just tweaked up stock roms atm

Evo 3D gsm is/has been dead, all the stuff the great devs on this section have done is given it to us and do as we please with it. I'm still running gingerbread for a daily driver ROM which is so good that even people with Jelly Bean nexus' struggle to understand how its this good
HTC don't help with releasing kernel sources 90 days after they release a ROM (policy ...wtf to that one)
Expelling people didn't help either, although this isn't about that because if someone goes USUALLY another person fills the gap but in this case because the Evo 3D forums are so opinionated nobody is interested
Long story short, 4chan 2.0.

I'm genuinely curious if this big kernel source drop is going to be beneficial to us or not. I've heard two sides to the story:
1. "HTC b trollin' man, they drop source and release a new kernel..."
2. Devs can use the old kernel and fix the issues that HTC fixed, along with the other issues AOSP ROMs were having like sound and MMS.
I have no idea what's going on, and I'm curious whether I should expect things to blow up here soon, or if this kernel source has been essentially useless. I'm generally unaware of how long it takes devs to pick apart the kernel code and utilize it. Any input from those with knowledge on this topic would be greatly appreciated.

Both are correct. It doesn't really help sense based Roms because sense kernels are going to be newer than source.
However, aosp roms can now be fully functional. Aosp is what many people on here care about and are waiting for.

It's not useless for aosp, the problem is nobody is really working too much on aosp roms. There is a cm and MIUI port but they are a ways off and only so much one person can do..

This makes me sad. Maybe the EVO won't have the development I pictured it having after all. I'm not giving up hope for the future, but if you're correct in your assertion, that is saddening.

It still might, but I think I'm still somewhat jaded by the og evo and the support it had. The 3D never really had much, and it's looking like the lte is gonna be around the same.
I do think we'll eventually get some aosp goodness, just isn't hopping like I hoped it would be. I don't mean this as a slight to the devs we do have because they are great, all of them.

It's only been a little over a month since the phone first came out. Give more people time to transition and we should start to see more activity. It isn't that bad so far, but most development is based around Sense because no one wants to wrestle with AOSP. Once they get AOSP stuff finished though, we'll be golden.

Yeah, I'm sure that's true. In my head, I figured everyone would be working to get to that point as quick as possible once kernel source was released. Like a giant team project, haha. Instead, it appears that only a select few are tackling it. Even custom kernels seem to be a rare mention. Oh well, I'll continue to enjoy the Sense ROMs as much as I can until someone cracks the AOSP code.

We just need the support of the big guys. For some reason it feels like most of the big time devs haven't moved on to this phone yet, or went with Samsung instead. I know that Preludedrew is working on JB for our phone, I talked to him about it yesterday on Gtalk. Deck mentioned in IRC that he was working on it as well, I believe.
The kernel developers are hiding so far, probably because we don't have the big guys working for us yet. I'd love to see a Tiamat kernel, even if I'm personally not a fan of custom kernels.
Kernel.org is also down, so that's slowing things up for everyone.

I've been seeing this all over, but I can access the site and perform downloads just fine.
There's is (are) custom kernels out

I'm actually happy with the stock kernel. It has a great balance of performance and battery life. Then again I prefer my kernels to be rock solid, as opposed to cutting edge with random reboots.

I always used custom kernels with EVO 4G and remember zero reboots due to kernel issues . Easy overclocking and underclocking, volume mods, performance increases while still improving battery life... Yes please!

So far my experience with HTC phones have been a very disappointing one. Coming from the OG Epic, all I've kept hearing was how awesome the development for the OG EVO was. So of course when the EVO 3d came out it was my phone of choice over the Epic Touch. That was disappointment number one. Then when the LTE came out, I've noticed all the OG EVO developers and owners was all excited about this phone, so i decided to give HTC another chance. So for I've been more disappointed then at any point. The lack of ROMS, the pitifully performance of sense 4 and HTC's new stance on locking bootloader and sneaky updates with new Hboots was the last straw. What phone will I get next? Im not sure, but it won't be a HTC.

We've had plenty of roms for this phone. Development has flown. Idk what your complaining about.
HTC has always locked the bootloader and always updated hboot to close root loopholes. This is nothing new.
This is all par for the course. You should know this having owned the 3d. Settle down my man

I know what he means about ROMs... They're all more or less the same so far. Modified stock is great, but not what many are after when they think of development being great.

+1 on that. Seems like the other guy isn't to bright seeing as this phone is only a little over a month old

And aosp is in the works and has been since shortly after launch. These things take time.
If you check out the aosp threads, they all mention ongoing development.
We JUST got kernel source. Devs have day jobs, they do this in their free time

Oh I know that, and I no way meant to say the devs aren't doing great work. I just wanted to explain why he said there were not a lot of ROMs right now. I understand that statement, although there is plenty of reason for why that is.
