Yesterday I have updated my SE Walkman with live to ICS via pc companion. phone is in it's stock condition. and update was successfull. couple of hours later when I was answering a call my phone went to sudden death.at that time i had 39% battery.
I plugged the charger no led. no vibration no heating in battery, it's dead
It wont swith on. I tried to connect to pc companion and SEUS. still same . phone is not identified. and it's just like a brick now.
What went wrong? How to repair it? Please help..
Take it to service, you should still have warranty and you had stock phone.

Just take off your phone battery for about 2 hours to let it completely 'dead' aka enter off phone mode, after that try to insert battery back and charge your phone...if there is no LED,then your charger/USB connector/battery got something wrong with it...

Hi there.
Got my X10 bricked.
How that happened:
Yesterday put my phone on vibrate/silent mode, shile was at cinema. Battery was about 15%. Later on I ffound that phone is off, thought it happened because of low battery. When I got home I've putted it on charge. Red light flashed few times. After about 2 hours I looked at it and no light was there. Phone didn't turn on. Took battery from another X10 (fully charged) and nothing happened. Tried to connect it to PC to reflash it, but no green LED appeared and PC told me, that unrecognized device found. After few PC restards even this disappeared. Just silence. None of buttons pressing configurations helped.
Tried with no SIM and SD cards. No change.
I have latest ROM on it and xRecovery.
Any ideas of what I could do?
hey dude one thing for ya.. you can never brick your x10 its not those old phones it a computer based/linux phone.. If you go through the forums you can find the info of how to unbrick x10 .. try Pc companion or go to sony website and try SEUS( Sony Ericsson Update service) it'll fix your phone up.ill do my best to post a link for ya if i can find it soon
here u go dude. read through this link and you'll fix your phone..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=828398
Thanks. But thing is that phone doesn't go in flash mode. No green LED is on. On first try I got "unrecognized device" from XP, now it's just silent on phone connection.
i think its more in hardware related because as far as i know eh you cant brick your phone. and battery drainage is far related to bricking..so i guess its a hardware problem..maybe you sat on it or something..because bricking is moreon software related.
try this
*remove the battery
*plugin charger to your x10
*hold the power button while inserting your battery.
just give it a shot..
It was in my wifes bag while that happened, but she has her phone just beside mine, so not shure it was because of some pressing on it or whatever.
Tried what you told me - no result. Tried pressing/holding power bttn before, while and after battery insertion.
Again, there was red LED at first, when I've plugged in charger yesterday, but later on it disappeared. I've charged my battery on another phone. Now it nearly full.
Try all solutions before u send ur phone for repair. I had to send my in to ATT and they said it was probably a hardware issue. So i hate to say that but i had the same thing. Sorry to tell u that my friend.that red light is a killer.

got a similar problem.
my x10 will only vibrate and the led blinks green, but the phone won't start.
tries SEUS, pc companion, pc suite, flash tool. nothing helped.
any suggestions?
Well, mine won't even vibrate.
Voelker45, so you got replacement or they repaired your phone? Could you tell me wich part it was?
I bought my phone on ebay, so no way to send it back. And it was in August 2011, so anyway, I have to work that thing myself.

Install SEUS and run it. Select x10 and it will install drivers on your phone. Then plug in your phone and try to repair.
As I wrote before, x10 does not enters flash mode, so no way to reflash.
And looks like it's really hardware issue. Something with powering.
Ok, thanks everyone. Since I bought it on ebay and it would be unreal to send it back to seller and we don't have SE service centers here, I'll fight for my phone till the end)))
Maybe something from this thread will help http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=944322

Strange thing happened:
Connected x10 to charger without battery. No LED turned on. Left it for a few mins, pluged in battery. No result. Took usb plug out and ! phone turned on. As it was without SIM cars, I turn it off, took battery out, putted SIM in, battery in and... again, it's not turning on. Tried repeating that way - nothing. Must be some hardware connection problem near battery. Will disassemble phone tomorrow.

Me again)
Strange things keep happen.
Here is the story:
Finally, got some star shaped screws yesterday and took apart my phone (thnx to McKebapp).
Non of IC were with readable names) So later on, after few hours of serching I found Xperia X10 scheme files (!!!). So the most probable faulty part would be Qualcomm PM7540 - power distribution IC.
Anyway, it was to hard for me to understand all that stuff in scheme, so I gave up(.
Assembled my phone back again. And just to... em.... have it done, lets say, I took out battery, pluged X10 in charger, pluged battery in. But it doesn't turned on again. So I took USB plug out abd - tadaaa - screen lightened.
Waited till phone loaded, turned it off again, pluged SIM and SD cards in, turned it on again - and it did! It turned on!
So, night passed and it still works.
Btw, yesterday I've rebooted it few times and it still was ok.
I don't know what was the problem, it could be bad contact, but there is no wires between battery and power distributing IC.
Anyway, X10 is back again)

when i plug it to the charger the x10i always shows the green light for a few seconds, after the screen starts to light but no logo just light, ..after that the phone shutdown, after a few seconds the green light turn up again

Actually, after charing try also reflashing firmware just in case. I hope it helps you, succes. Battery stats may be corrupted if I guess it right.
ok, i charged it for about 18 hours now and flashed the phone again but still the same, ...i turn the phone on the green light blinks up and the screen starts lighting for about 30 seconds, ..after that the phone restarts
i flashed with bin4arys x10 flasher, the generic rom
is this ok if the phone is orange austria branded? ...because seus or pc companion does not work anymore for update. donno why, x10 flasher just works fine, says everything is ok

I think you should really try SEUS. It's the best way to repair your phone if Flashtool doesn't work. It's also the easiest way. It SHOULD work, if it doesn't you're doing something really wrong.
This is what you are going to do:
You have to recharge the battery outside the phone, in that state the phone doesn't allow you to charge.
Then using flashtool you need to install branded or generic 1.6 donut you can grab one from this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=872298
Im with Orange dominicana i used the firmware from
france found in the post.
Othewise SEUS will always prompt you that you have the latest software installed (Assuming that you are using the 2.1 Eclair right now).
After you have installed the 1.6 regardless if it worked or not, connect it to SEUS try to update and just wait (if SEUS doesn't want to update as you mentioned before try to uninstall it and downlad the latest version)
If that doesn't work let me know i have tried other methods that worked for me.
You can see my post i was having the same issue.
It's called Xperia X10i restarting loop.

hi to all,my xperia x10 yesterday..dead!!i turn off night before and the next morning when i turn on it i see only three red led
mofo82.... seriously? This has happened to probably every x10 user in the world atleast once.... try the right sub-forum next time.
To solve your problem:
1. Take out the battery.
2. Put in the charger into the phone.
3. Put the battery back into the phone.
4. Wait for a minute and your phone should turn on with a battery image which means that the phone is charging...
dear a2ha,before to open this thread i read a lot every problem and i try your solution but not work....
Try reflash your rom with flashtool.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
I think that you Rom is down .Since battery charging is rom-dependant on the x10 ,you have to reflash it with SEUS/PC Compagnon or Flashtool but fatally the problem will come up again . I am encountering the same problem right now .
IF the rom was working it will have to be able to load the charging mode off-line no need to turn the phone on.
After fully charging the phone you can repair it if that is the case, but red led as far as i know only means no battery.
White led means problems some times.

connect the charger and leave it for an hour or two...!! if it still doesn't charge in offline mode or switch on... then you might have to get your battery tested!!
Hi [After many tries and errors i finally updated with seus and the problem was solved, thanks to all for helping]
i know there are loads of threads up about the X10 being dead but i dont find those problems and solutions any good for my problem so here it is.
I started getting weird boot loops, and the phone started and shut down by itself. Now it wont charge, and it wont turn on.
Things ive already tried:
Tried taking out the battery + sim and sd card, holding the power button for 5sec and then re inserting the battery. ( didnt work )
Tried connecting it to the computer so i could update with pcc ( didnt work )
Tried holding the <-------- button while connecting to computer, ( didnt work )
Tried leaving the battery for a couple of days so it would get low and then trying to charge it ( didnt work )
Tried charging the phone without the battery plugged in ( the green light went on for a while then stoped. :S )
so right now, it wont turn on, it wont charge. What can i do ?

You can also charge your battery with external charger or put it in some another phone and charge it.
After its charged, flash stock firmware using flashtool or use pc companion or seus to go to 2.3.3
Similar problem, no solution thus far
I have a similar problem as the OP, but nothing suggested has worked, my situation a bit more unique (or dire depending on how you look at it).
My phone was working fine about a week and half ago, it had been hanging a lot if I remember correctly and I had to flash a few times the last couple of months. I had just done a flash and the phone was working perfectly so I left it on my desk a couple of days maybe. When I got back to it it would not turn on or charge. I tried everything I'd learned, taking the batter out and leaving it for a bit, leaving it charging for a whole day. No matter what I did I could not get it charged or recognized in USB. I bough a new battery and it arrived today, left it charging for a couple of hours, but nothing's changed. I would hate to have to buy a new phone if there is a possibly simple solution. Anyone?
No LED's whatsoever, the phone is just stone cold non-responsive. Thanks in advance.

AW: My x10 is stone dead
Take an old micro usb ,, cut it ,, you will see 4 cables
Green and white for data (pc connection)
And red +
And black or grey -
Take only red + and black -
Then take the battery out of the phone connect the cables plus + go to plus +
And minus - goto minus - ( you can orientate by the battery
Then put battery in with cables connected do you understand?
My english is not so good xD
My mother have the same problem
The phone is only charging this way :/
Sorry for my English xD

Hey
A while ago, i tried to update my X10 mini. I used SEUS to do it, but somehow, during the update process my phone turned itself off. I tried to turn it back on, but no success. Trying to charge it, i saw a red light blinking, thinking that the battery must have said bye bye. Whenever i tried to turn it on, red light blinked as when it was empty. No mather how long i charged it the phone was still unable to turn on
I later red an article on bricked devices and noticed that bricking devices can easily be done by interupting the device while updating it, and thats exactly what happened.
Is there anyway to unbrick it? IF that is the case. If not, is it the battery that is completely drained?

Can you get back into flashmode? if so then just reflash the update. How charged was your battery when you started? If the battery does seem dead or no longer usable then try and charge it overnight or buy a new one, BST-38 batteries are very cheap on amazon and ebay

Hmm, there should be some files for flashtool floating round the forum, try and find the one for the update you were doing and maybe jump ship to unlocked bootloader if you can

What you should do is getting into recovery and put in usb storage mode, then is probably that SEUS detect the phone
