(Request) 3.X.X linux kernel for Xperia play - Xperia Play Android Development

http://kernel.org/
I've been using the 3.0 kernel for my kindle fire and its been really smooth and at least 3 times faster than the old 2.6 kernel and it even fixed the hardware decoding so I was thinking that it would be awesome on the Xperia play. If ur interested in building ask Hashcode for help he ported it for the kindle fire.
Thank you, Jeff

I don't think any 2011 line will get the 3.0 kernel.
Why? Its 2012 now, and we are on .32, which is way outdated. Updating would be a huge task.
Iirc .35 kernel was ported once but it didn't boot...

Nothing wrong with throwing at stone at trying it?

No, it would be wasted time in development while we could do more productive things ie: upgrade rotator, mdp, vidc, bcm4329 in our current kernel to ones in .35 kernel

Hmm. Now that sounds like more fun!

I truly hope for breakthroughs such as this since our wondrous device is no longer in the limelight with Sony Mobile turning their backs on us.
Off-topic sort of: I think that since I now have a workable MacBook (w/ OS X 10.7.4) at my disposal, I will start looking into compiling my own kernel for all Play variants. It's been a long time coming but I feel I really need to give back to the community here (& give you workhorses a break in the mix).

It isn't a huge task it is not a coincidence that e.g the Nexus S Works properly with ICS and has had suitable kernel upgrades.
Everything else will need hacking about with the way that tasks are killed.

Nexus S -> Google device -> Google maintain software/kernel -> always updated.
Xperia Play -> Sony Mobile device -> Sony maintain kernel -> not always updated.

Can we port the nexus s 3.0 kernel to our phone
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21935053
Sent from my Xperia Play using Tapatalk 2

some developers are already working months!! on this kernel.
they can't get it booting yet.

i dont know why sony is so lazy.most of xperia 2012 devices come with 2.3.7 with 2.6.32.x kernel and when they updated to ics their kernel also updated to new kernel 3.0.8+.
but xperia 2011 ics update does not apply kernel update.when kernel does not fit with hardware if you use best rom you again have problems and bugs with phone.
they can do it for xperia 2011 device as a same thing were does for xperia 2012 devices.
sry for bad english.:good:

[Q] Xperia S source (not system)

Hi
I have a question.
I would like to use the awesome Xperia S weather widget on another API levels . Even on 15, or even on 10. I am planning to recompile to another android versions.
We have the Xperia S source, but that is a system source, not the source of the applications, widgets.
Can someone post where to find? Maybe on EMMA?
thanx a lot, sincerely
There is no such thing, even on Emma. Sony keeps their modifications proprietary:

OK so I'm pretty new to the whole Android thing, but can't you just use the widget's packages that come with the stock FW on a custom ROM, like precompiled binaries on any other Linux?

No. In linux terms it's like linking a dynamic library that doesn't exist.

Why after i instal this mx xplay can't play all gameloft game .nd my phonene is laggy...how to uninstal this?

[Q] Why is the Go ICS so laggy?

Hi,
After the upgrade from GB to ICS, the Xperia Go performance seems to have been somewhat degraded. The homescreen is not smooth anymore (it was in GB), and most games seem to periodically stutter/lag.
I tried rooting my phone, and changing to the 'performance' scheduler, thus locking my CPU at 1GHz, the problem goes away. I don't really know much about these details, but I find it odd, that the 'ondemand' scheduler not longer gives a smooth experience.
I assume the GB firmware also uses the 'ondemand' scheduler.
What differences could be the cause for the stutter in ICS, and why is the scheduler no longer able to keep performance smooth ?
Hope someone can bring some insight, I'm curious!
Best!
if you notice the ram usage is quite high...
there seems to be a problem with kernels for xperia go at the moment all stock based ics kernels are laggy .custom roms have just been released by free xperia project but there seems to be a problem as i seem to be 1 of very few go owners not a lot of troublehooting gets done for the go .waiting to hear from FXP regarding his kernel not booting

gettin bored with xperia ui, I think you just focus with AOSP. n don't forget to buil for lww, will be glad to test it
If You want to build Your rom smooth and superfast - don't add Xperia apps, just minimize this rom for best expierience of new beast

Currently having 60% aosp and 40% xperia ui looks nice i try full aosp now.
BTW: Batterydrain is 25% in 5 hours normal use( wifi turned on and mobile network) i think thats bad i will try some other things
Edit:
Using full AOSP now extremly smooth now:thumbup::thumbup:
Sent from my Xperia Mini Pro using xda app-developers app
yes, don't add much xperia apps it only slow down the system.I know what i speak, one time i have a rom with a lot of useless xperia stuff and the rom was lagging as hell.I think you better make AOSP.About the battery drain it is little big but not so bad.
Good news for You - now, I have faster 3g internet connection in my mobile, so I can download it directly from my device. If You do it and upload - just give me link on PM
Sent from my Xperia Mini Pro using xda app-developers app
Hey mate!
Glad your back.
Maybe you should try aosp look.
Since almost all roms are based on xperia look..
Yup, AOSP - simply looks and great power!
Sent from my Xperia Mini Pro using xda app-developers app
Ok im finished with building im only trying some scripts at the moment i may upload today and send the links to the testers.
Edit:
Found the old patches for my GB rom trying to do the same with JB now maybe other MDPI will also be finished today
Edit:
Finalise ROM now i will see whether ive time to upload
Edit:
Uploading..........
Note:
Testers from other devices than mini pro download the dev files for your device at the ultra slim CM thread it should work
Sent from my Xperia Mini Pro using xda app-developers app
Good to see u developing back....use all the patches from my rom if something doesn't works lemme know ill anyways download latest aosp and cm for all devices this weekend only so if u need ill build patches from polish aosp once I ask the dev @pcfighter for the same

based on my knowledge there is no stock based rom. well to be honest xtz forum is kind of quite, we have no dedicated devs cause i think they are more busy on other devices or something. there are themes available in the theme and app section though

I am soon working on a stock ROM for Pollux_Windy device, but overall work on it and initial release will come when it comes.
Xperia Z is main device where I will release two ROMS - one fresh and tweaked, customized / modded stock and one AOSP one. Then port equal results to Tablet Z if I can get it work with satisfying results..

I am aiming for an beta / test release for the Xperia Z stock based rom next week. Me myself needs more testing of it, and also isolate battery drain issues so they are totally zero. Then let some guys over the XZ section test it, and begin working on the CM ROM based ROM (perhaps with some 4.4 goodies included)! Then port them both over to Pollux Windy!
Hold your fingers crossed, guys! Time needed: 3-3.5 week!

I am currently watch the development in 3 directions:
1) Stock ROM, with stable performance good UI & Multiusersupport and all functions working
2) CM11 or Android 4.4
3) Ubuntu Touch
I doubt it is going to be easy to develop a solid Stock Rom (realizing MHL, remote Control etc.)
Never heard some great improvments about ubuntu touch.
But, hey-> I'll be watching you
