Opinions on upgrade - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Well, upgrade time its coming i have an x10(used to have an sgs1 but gave it away)
After a lot of consideration and research ive narrowed down to two phones
Xperia S: 629.00 USD
Galaxy Nexus: 479.99 UDS
Both brand new, so what do you guys think, cause im still very undecisive
I cant go any higher than the Xperia S pricepoint cause im already taking a hit with it(unless its really worth it)
Other phones i was offered were
Sgs 2: 529.00 USD
Htc one X:699.00 USD
Sgs 3: 963.99 Usd

Go do the Galaxy Nexus, seriously. For that price its a bargain.

Are you in the us because I got my xperia s for 480 and I think it is better than a nexus. I got it off amazon. Global mobiles seller.
Sent from my LT26i using Tapatalk 2 Beta-5

At those prices definitely the Nexus.

WTF! 963,99 USD for the SGS3? Here in germany we will get is for 579,00 Euro = 727,90 USD!

im in Panama and thats the regular price of the sgs 3 between 963.99 and 1024.00 USD only the iphone is more expensive
Though thats bound to drop soon, its the new BIG thing so its normal

Right now im leaning towards GN because of what ive heard of the XS(bad battery, crappy buttons, non removable battery and micro sim only)
But if someone who used the XS could help(i cant try it) it would be awesome

HTC ONE X for sure... Fast, buttery smooth s4 processor... Win win

Not much of an upgrade. I'd wait until the new series of phones come out (HTC One-X, SGSIII).

This... Hold out for a little longer and you'll feel like you really upgraded instead of just changed phones.

I'm thinking of this too. If the size isn't an issue for you then I'd say go for it. Better screen res, bigger, bit faster, it's god damn sexy. If I had the cash I'd do it today, but I have to wait a bit.
better wait for SIII
change to galaxy note now? from an sgs2
sgs3 will come in march. htc one x is there
there is no reason at all to step back to an old phone
I would definetely wait for the SIII! The SII isn't an old phone so i would just wait a few months until the SIII becomes cheaper. But if you really love the GNote, then just go for it
I made that upgrade and I just love my Note, screen size is just perfect for me. Im not waiting for SGSIII I'm gonna hold to this Note and upgrade it when Note II/or Note S is out
Played with Note few days and first impression is that it is slower than SGS2 but with better screen..........it is too big for my taste and everyday use so i will stick with SGS2...........
Note too big for me.
will keep using gs2 until gs4 or 5, until gs2 get old. get slower when android os upgrade to 4 5 6.......

[Q] Which phone are you upgrading from?

I would like to know which phone you are upgrading from and what do you think of SG3 compare to your old phones.
I am thinking of buying the SG3 but I think people will think differently depending their previous phone experience.
Just had a xperia s from Sony for a couple of weeks, as soon as I saw this device at work I sold my Sony and bought this beast...

upgraded from my motorola defy
Nokia E7
I am pgrasing from Nokia E7 ( about 1 year old). Loved the hardware keyboard, BUT even with BELLE upgrade it was just becomming a laggy disapointment...
The S3/III (is it a three or iii?) is a BEAST. Amazing screen, Android is customisable and it just flies through everything I do.. Love it
Upgrading from my galaxy nexus, needed something new in my hands, don't have anything against my g nex.
This is not just a phone - Galaxy Nexus
Its the allmighty GT-I9000

Upgraded from a iPhone 4S and well worth the upgrade!
Will be upgrading from the HTC Rezound whenever Verizon gets around to shipping my pre-order. Too bad to as the Rezound is an excellent phone that unfortunately has almost no developer support.
Upgrading from the HTC EVO 3D.

From this GS2, had the GS3 for 2 days and yet to switch it on. Went for the white one but really not sure about the colour, tempted to send it back and get the blue one. Surprised I've lasted this long tbh

Yopu missed the EVO 4G LTE....I had three in a row that locked on boot and even the techs couldn't turn them off with the power button reset.

The Galaxy Nexus has the considerable advantage of having vanilla Android, better access to updates, and easier to root - and it is one of the cheaper options on your list.
So, since you haven't specified any particular criteria or preference that would favour one of the others, I would suggest you get the GN.
The SGS3 and the HTC One X are more recent phones then the GN, so they do have a variety of advantages, but the only one that I consider to be worth the difference in price is LTE - the GSM version of the GN doesn't have LTE.
If LTE is not available to you (or not important to you) then I stick to my recommendation of the GN.
Got the GN thanks dude

Which phone should I get for roms

I am looking at unlocked gsm phones that I can use for straight talk. I am looking for one with decent amount of roms and such. I am looking for one within 0 to maybe 150 preferably on price range.

At one time I was thinking about the HTC wildfire s but dunno if there is a better phone than that for around the same price.

Maybe a Nexus One?
Or a galaxy s?

Yeah I think I am going to try and win a Samsung captivate/galaxy s on ebay.

HTC HD2 ?
I recently got a factory refurbished Nexus S off ebay in your price range. An older phone that you can run Jellybean on for 150 is hard to beat.

Miss my HTC One.

Hi, I bough the HTC one when it came one on T-Mobile, then after 4-5 days of use I decided to return. The reason was I had the Galaxy s3 before and thinking that the Galaxy s4 is much better watching online reviews. And I went and bought the international version of Galaxy s4 i9500 for $775 cash. Thinking its octocore and it has to be unbelievably fast. Now after using the GS4 I realized that HTC one is a much better and faster phone. Everything on the one is PREMIUM.
Now Im trying to get rid of the i9500 and get the HTC one back.
Just sayin dont trust any reviews on the youtube they are all bull****

The S4 is a great phone, but i like the htc one more. Try selling it on ebay , amazon or craigslist , and then go to tmobile and buy the Htc one

I too missed the HTC one. I had returned it earlier thinking it wasn't for me and repurchased it. Plan on selling my nexus 4 soon too. This phone is just awesome.

So we should trust you because you think One is better
Honestly I own both and they are good phones in their own way. For some One is better and for some sgs4 is better, why do we have to get into the my phone is better than yours debate?

I also have both phones. If I had to choose I would pick the HTC one. The s4 is a nice phone but the ui isn't as smooth from my experience.
If the ui on the s4 was just as smooth as the HTC one it would be hard to choose. The s4 has a lot of customization.

I will never buy a phone with non removal battery. Its stupidity. Here in europe you get 2 years for warranty and 6 months for battery. If you are unlucky after one year and battery is gone you have to pay to much for a replace battery or if you try to change it by yourself you loose warranty. Thats stupid in a phone of 700 or more euros. And so far i saw from comparison s4 is slightly better. Thats all because I say. Lol

I tried to use the camera yesterday on Gs4 and it was slow I culdnt catch the pictures I needed, so I got really pissed off. You click the cam it takes long time to open. On HTC it's instant.

By the way I just came from the store with new and perfect HTC one, no gaps no stock or dead pixels the date was 4/28/2013
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
That's normal friend phone it's been optimised. It takes one or two updates to take everything working. That happened with my s3 also. You get updates nearly daily from Samsung. And from htc your phone in 6 months will be forgotten by htc...

Why be so childish over a phone? If you don't like the HTC one then why are you on this forum? No need to bash other phones just because you "think" yours is better. I have the HTC one and I love it because it's for me, my girlfriend has the gs4 because she's used to touchwiz and I've played with it and it's also a great phone. Stop all the bashing and just enjoy your phone. It's all about personal preference.

See my thing is if you don't like, don't have and don't plan to get a one... Then why come on the forum and bash... Seriously?
And ps. The iPhone is the single most sold handset in the market and it has a non-removable batttery... You don't see people *****ing about it... It's like people can't find another excuse to critique the phone and they say hey non-removable batter oh it sucks...

Because Android and iOS have polar opposite philosophies. Android offers users choice; and choice leads to freedom, ultimately entitlement. iOS says my way or highway. Capitalism vs. Communism.
