Browser dark problem - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've bought yesterday my new galaxy s3 and even though the browser at the beginning was fine now it shows a very dark grey background, as if the brightness is decreased to reduce batter consumption.
I've disabled the power saving mode but still the same.
Any idea, please???

hehe pres the options buttons and you see a setting for clarity for the browser. videos and browser have an option to change the clarity settings apart from the main clarity settings.

Yeah, change your "Brightness & Color" setting to Default in the Browser.

If you go into the brower and go to settings there is a setting there you can change, there is also a setting in standard settings around changing brighness based on image. You could try turning that off.

Solved... i had to set the browser brightness
Thanks everyone, I wasn't scrolling down enough in the browser menu and I couldn't see the brightness setting functionality.

Brightness Settings

Hey guys,
Wat's te ideal brightness setting for the battery? Mines on about 20-30% but in battery usage it says 58% usage and the phone hardl last a day ...
Any thoughts?
Stats in Battery usage graph and your Brightness level is completely two different things.
I always use Auto.
I think I will try that. I also wonder if noled app is having an effect but I set the brightness on that to 1%.
Ever since 2.3.4 I've had mine on full brightness. The battery on 2.3.4 roms has always been good for me.
Is that stock or custom ROM?
Also anyone find that once the battery saver option kicks in that when it recharges that the settings don't switch back to what they were previously? A bit annoying as I don't want to have to manually change my screen timeout etc everytime.
Also what's the option for adjust screen brightness tickbox about just below the general brightness setting? Don't quite understand that.

You mean background effect?
- Dynamic: bright, vivid colors
- Standard: standard colors.
- Movie: contrast higher, warmer image.

I think the option is: "Auto adjust power" int he Display settings menu. Something about analyzing images or something.
Anyone able to expand upon this please?

since its upgrading to samoled+ even we set the brighness to 0 it is still bright but then again depending your eyes and needs of battery consumption (bc) theres also a"custom rom"way like hollow to follow or if you prefered moderate usage without flashing i think on 20-30% bright it contribute to bc
My browser is set is have the brightness at 0 which is fine, I think there's a service in the background using more CPU than it needs. Likelihood it is a Glu game ~.~.

Scrolling and display brightness

I've confirmed this behavior on two tabs, one running 3.1 base and the other running 3.1 ux.
In apps like tapatalk or the amazon.com for android app, when i scroll through a list of items or topics the display brightness dims until the scrolling movement stops and the brightness returns to normal.
The difference isn't huge, but it's definitely clearly visible on both units I've tested and pretty distracting.
I tested with brightness set at auto and set at a fixed level and it happens either way.
I found a way to resolve this..
I found an option under Settings - Screen - Auto adjust screen power which is enabled by default (even if brightness is not at auto).
If I disable this, the brightness fluctuation stops.
Just thought I'd share..
Hey
Thanks, will give it a try. Got the same issue, not bad but it is irritating :-\ Especially when I use zino.

Color temp changing in browser

Is it normal that my color temperature seems to be changing when I'm in the browser. I notice it the most in there due to the white background. I'm running serendipity 8 but noticed before this. I'm not running the dynamic screen mode. Only the standard. Is this related to the auto brightness? Haven't tried disabling it yet but this color change is quite annoying as it goes from like cool to warm colors.

I'm getting the same on stock rooted. I think it's related to auto-dim because it's at 15 seconds, which is what my auto-dim is set to. Did you time it and verify the same for yours? Not sure why it doesn't just dim like past models, but goes to gross 1970's TV looking color haha
I believe you can adjust browser brightness aside from you regular screen brightness. When you bring up the browser again, look under setting and you will see "browser brightness"...let me know if that helps.

The browser auto brightness toggle is jenky... when set to auto its when it kicks to low brightness the colors go warm yellow. If set to manual just above that point it disables the rest of the OS's auto dimness and the whole android is too bright dohh.
Color Temp of Browser
Is this just in your browser or does it show up on all white backgrounds? I thought my screen was defective because it would change color temperature with the backlight but the real culprit was that setting under Settings | Display which automatically checks the image being displayed and adjusts it to save battery power... I don't have the phone with me right now so I can't give the exact wording of the option, sorry.

Seems most noticeable in the browser because it is the only thing with a white background.
I see this problem mainly using the xda app... I will scroll and as I'm holding down on the screen, it will be sliiiiiightly pinkish... then as soon as I let go and the screen is static, it reverts to a cool blue... very slight

[Q] Is my display losing brightness? Or is it a bad app?

So,
Today I was messing around with GO Launcher EX and GO Locker, and I didn't like the performance, at all...so I did a search and found an app called spare parts that was supposed to help the animation speed, after a while of messing around, I noticed that my display wasn't nearly as bright as it was an hour ago. I checked and made sure that the display brightness setting was set to 100%, and that auto-adjust screen power was turned off, and the display was still about half as bright as when I started today.
How can I test if I messed something up? Or is this normal for a AMOLED display? Is there an app I can download that will force the brightness to go to 100%, to see if some app is messing with it? What the heck is going on.
Emmmmmooooo rrraaagggeee!!!
So I got a app that controls brightness , and in fact confirmed that the default controls were only boosting brightness to around 80 percent. What can affect the settings like this? Using automatic brightness, or changing the brightness through anything but this app leaves the screen dimmer than it normally is. I can't even use the touchwiz settings widget.
Interesting.
So, to further report on this odd behavior,
After further investigation, the brightness with auto-brightness seemingly drops light output further than the "0" setting in my brightness app, and further than the slider allows manually adjusting via the settings>display panel. Odd.
So,
I disabled all auto-brightness via the settings in the TouchWhiz apps (read: the browser and the video/audio player), and was just controlling brightness via the app I installed.
Later today, i turned on auto-brightness again via the Power Saving widget, and the issue where the screen dims farther than any manual settings allowed was gone. Again, i only have an issue with max brightness now-- using both the system settings panel to adjust brightness as well as using auto-brightness via both the power saving widget as well as the system settings panel.
So, in summary: the max brightness issue remains, and i can only set it to about 80% without using the brightness app i installed (the app allows me to set it to 100%....where as in the system settings, the slider goes to 100%, and stays at 100%, but the screen looks like its at about 80%. Using the brightness app i installed allows me to boost it back to 100%, but as soon as i change the brightness in the system settings app, or the power saving widget, it maxes out at 80. The slider moves all the way to 100%, but i'm only getting 80% brightness).
Note:
I have no apps installed that affect brightness...0. None of my apps have anything remotely having to do with the display, audio, or it's settings.
Maybe you can help me?
I turned off the auto brightness in the system settings/display/brightness but it seems that the screen starts to dim (sometimes). I hate this...I have to touch the screen to retain brightness. I don't want auto dimming...I want the level I set (which is about half way on the slider).
Where can I find a master override?

Adjust screen timeout. This happens when your screen is going to automatically turn off

Thanks... I'll check it out.
Also in display settings uncheck "auto adjust screen power"
Was there ever a solution to this? I am now starting to get this issue of screen will not respond to 100% brightness...and the option to change display brightness is greyed out in settings. It seems to be a problem with 'power savings' which I would like to completely remove from my phone as even when I turn it off, it is keeping me from adjusting my screen brightness when below 20% battery...and with my 5400 mah battery 20% is a full 8 hour day left...really irritating...only way to solve is to charge above 20%...or go enable power savings, then disable it again...but problem returns every time the screen goes off.

How much memory should my S3 be consuming and screen brightness

How much memory should my samsung S3 be consuming on regular use ( I am using Telus version), I am not running any applications and I see it is using between 480-500, also I turned the full brightness on but I noticed that the brightness is not full when I use the browser, it is kind of dim..
This is the first time I use an Android phone and I am already loving it!
That memory use is normal. If you are using the stock browser, go into Brightness and Colors in the menu and disable Auto Brightness. Also, in the phone's Display settings disable Auto Adjust Screen Tone.
