Hi all,
I have a serious problem with my Asus Transformer Prime. Yesterday a new update came and I installed it. Since then I can't get passed a security screen to slide and unlock. I have really no idea how to solve this and I am getting really desperate right now, since all my notes from work are in there!
My tablet is rooted and I am using SwitchMe so both my gf and I can use it. Now I am stuck in my gf profile and a can't do anything. No matter how many times I retry slide and unlock. Nothing happens.
I made a video so I can explain the problem a bit better.

Try a post in the developer's thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1478326 ?
good idea... I will do that, although I am not sure if Switchme is the problem.
Finally, my problem is solved!
The issue was indeed SwitchME. I unistalled SwitchMe with ADB. Then everything worked back as a charm. After that I regained my root with rootkeeper and reinstalled SwitchMe. No profile data was lost, so one happy Asus Transformer Prime user here.
If you have any serious problems like this you really should just email us, its a considerably better idea than posting in forums.
You can find developer contact details on any app page in the Play Store.
I had the similar problem after upgrading my CyanogenMod on HP Touchpad yesterday.
Here is how to fix it:
- Connect via ADB
- Kill the switchme process.
Immediately after that, I was asked to give superuser permission for Switchme. After I confirmed this, the problem was solved.
So I guess that SwitchMe somehow looses the sudo permission during ROM upgrades...
(I posted the same information also to the main SwitchMe thread at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1465661)

Hello everybody,
this is my first post ever. I've been following XDA developers for many years when I was still using Windows Mobile PDA's and later smartphones. This Forum has helped me with so much.
But now Im facing a problem which I cant find a solution for. Maybe this has been solved in another thread already, then I'm sorry that I must have overlooked it.
I purchased and Xperia X10i about two weeks ago. Everything worked fine out of the box.
Then I updated the software via the PC connection to 2.1
Before I of course backedup everything.
After the update I restored my backup and everything seemed to work proper.
Yesterday when I tried to access the Market place the screen popped up and it showed me the loading message but it simply didn't load. The screen flashed a few times then the app was forced shut.
I searched on several forums and followed the instructions posted by people with similar problems.
1. It was suggested that I perform a Hardreset. This didnt work through the method by pressing the left and right key simultaniously and the pressing and releasing the power button. For whatever reason my phone just boots normally
2. Factory reset through the menu: Settings > SD card & Phone storage: This option is not even present after the software update
3. Deinstalling Market update: I deinstalled the updates for the market application but that didnt change anything
4. Using the update function of the PC software to repair the update:
I performed another update through the repair function this seemed to make matters worse. Now when I go to Settings > Applications > Manage Applications I cant even see the other installed application except one UEFA something.
Funny enough everything else on the phones seems to work well.
Details about the network.
I live in Kenya and use Safaricom as my carrier. There were no issues before I updated
I work in South Sudan and use Vivacell. I dont use Vivacell for data but rather use my wireless connection. Up until the update and even shortly afterwards that worked just fine.
Im really confused. Don't know what else to try.
Should I root the device and install Froyo rather?
Thank you in advance for any suggestions, and again if this has been solved elsewhere then I'm really sorry for overlooking it. Please post a link if so.
Update for point 4.
Point 4. was simply my own stupidity. I had a filter set wrong. never the less the market problem remains
using the application from AppPit instead at the moment. This one works fine and donwloads and installs have no issues.
Would love to use the marked though because bit has way more apps which I need. AppPit is a bit limited

Try removing updates on Market.
I've searched, and I'm pretty sure this is a fairly recent problem. The market fix that sounded like to worked great doesn't anymore since the last week or so. I used arctools to install the market, but most apps I want, the ones I have used on my phone, do not show up.
I've tried the market fix according to what I've read and seen in youtubes. Doesn't work, and then I've seen others saying the same thing.
Any chance of a workaround? I just got an Archos 101, and without the market apps I like, I think it's a dealbreaker. Thanks for any help.
you could try changing the build.prop properties to GALAXY tab, (chulri method)
but first you need to root the archos (chulri method)
If, as you say, you already have them on your phone, then back them up on your phone and copy the .apk's to your Archos - it's the simplest method
Since a few weeks, the market fix on my A70 2.1.8 doesn't work.
I did a reset and downgrade from 2.3.20 to 2.1.8 and reinstalled the market, but still, the fix doesn't work.
But I see apps like Gun Bros without an other fingerprint! And I see Google Maps and Google Earth and Flash.
Very crazy.
Well, if there is no kompatibility for tablets in the market options for apps, then you can not see them on a tablet. but always more apps are marked with that flag for tablets, too. so we see them on our tablets as always more devs are building their apps for tablets and not only for phones. flash is such a thing. a big pusher for this was the galaxy tab...as it is a "big" phone although it´s a tablet....the more tablets are out the more apps will show up in the market....and for those apps are not in the market, take a phone and extract your app from your phone and push it on your tablet....

I'm having the same issue, also interested in a fix.
Any updates on this? It sucks that this worked so well early on and now it doesn't work at all...
Since I didn't see any posts about this, I thought it was just my A70. Now I know...and knowing is half the battle.
I actually had this problem, trying to find SimiFolder for my 43IT. I found the following link (blog post). It's pretty old, but I followed the instructions and found that it works.
Market Full Access Fix
Hey guys, first of all sorry for not specifying my problem in the thread's title. Thing is, I have at least 3 problems and I don't see the need of creating a new thread for each problem.
Anyway, yesterday I took courage and decided to root my tablet for the first time. I followed the tutorial posted by Chulri here in the forum and apparently succeeded. However, it was only a matter of time before the problems started.
Here they are:
1 - Whenever my screen times out and I wake up the tablet it gets painfully slow eventually crashing. Is that a known problem or is it just me?
2 - It also crashes whenever I try to connect my BT keyboard.
3 - I can't connect it to my computer AT ALL. When I plug it in and choose "mount" the program just crashes. Strangely, I get a pop-up note that says that my usb is connected and that it's ready to upload and transfer files from my pc.
4 - I have successfully installed the market after rooting my tablet. Still, even after doing that some apps won't show up, such as: ADW.Launcher and Go Launcher EX. Note, that I am currently living in China and using the marketenabler app.
Now, I have read that for rooting the tablet a fresh install is advised. I didn't format my Archos though. Could that be the source of my problems? I'm not using a decent SD card either but from what I know that shouldn't really cause any problems unless I'm using urukdroid. So guys, any suggestions?
Thanks for your help!
Ok guys, after browsing the forum for a couple of hours I have found the solution to most of my problems.
I have basically downgraded to version 2.1.08 again by following the guide here. After that most of my problems were gone. I still have to test my BT keyboard; once I do I'll let you guys know how it went. The market is not showing all the apps yet but that shouldn't be a problem.
With the 1.4.1 updated looming, I rooted my Nook last week by following the instructions Indirect created. It was extremely easy and I was enjoying root access. Today my Tablet popped up a message stating that it had updated to 1.4.1. I still have Super User access. The only app that is not working so far is Android Market, it crashes when you open it. I am afraid to restart it though. I don't know what will happen. Has anyone else experienced this?
The market crash today is why i came here nosing around to find the bad news. ( it worked last week as i installed the latest vmware VDI client from the market ) Mine was rooted as well, so i can confirm the same exact symptoms.
Some of my other apps no longer work right, such as video playback from esfile explorer, and button savior's "back" button doesn't seem to do anything now. I also had 2 other apps on the home screen that wont even load their icons now.
same issue here.. updated to the last version.. i didn't tried the methods to prevent the update.. in fact i don't follow enough for this
market is uninstalled or hidden at least
button savior shortcuts for "settings" and "previous" doesn't work anymore, but "home" works.. too bad !
I've been to the B&N community website to help .. let's hope for an update in a better way
I sounds like there were be a follow up update to resolve the side-loading issue that got broken, and probably is responsible for the problems you're experiencing. I hope mine doesn't update. I'm rooted, but also followed the sqlite method.
I hope so too. Please let us know, I am interested if the that method does indeed block the updates. Before I go downgrading and starting over I would like a clear view of what I need to do to block future updates. Thanks.
have done it all and recorded it all. Everything posted by the developers work and I prove it on video. Checkit out. Recovery to 1.4.0 is uploading now and will be on my channel in the morning. OTA block using titanium backup works perfectly.
Try the sideload wonder machine. You need the apk file of the app you want to install on your computer.

Rooting won't stop 1.4.1
Unfortunately even with rooting, 1.4.1 self-installed on one of our NTs.
Unfortunately I sold my Dell Streak 7 a week or so ago.

Rooting won't do anything to stop updates if you rooted before, say, late last night, when the rooting method post was updated to include blocking. So... the title of the thread is not that noteworthy If you did not block bn's update apps, did not do anything to block updates, then yes you will receive updates.
My wife and I both have rooted NT's. I did the fix that Indirect posted where it changes your version to 9.9.9 and my NT did not receive the update so far. My wife on the other was relying on the rumor that having the FOTA.apk would block the update...wrong. She just received the update tonight when she turned the wifi on. So I guess this can confirm that Indirect has a successful method (simplified sqlite) that will block the update.
I got Android Market problem since yesterday though I'm showing firmware 1.40 under device info.
UPDATE:
I did an unroot then root it again, follow Albert's video to block the OTA, ver. shown 9.9.9, everything seems working so far. Thanks Albert & Indirect for their hard work!
My wife's NT updated yesterday despite being rooted as well. I thought the OTA upgrade was supposed to be blocked with the root...Looks like I'm going to try downgrading it right now...
I also saw the link over in the dev forum ( that i cant post in ) for downloading 1.40
Who all has done this and got things back in order? I think that when i got mine i *had* to be on WIFI to set it up, which of course is bad since i will just get the 1.41 update and be back where I'm at now.
If that isn't the case, perhaps a step by step for us borderline newbies to get back to 1.40 + no OTA

Just found that link about 10 mins ago too.. thanks much. i'm trying it now and crossing my fingers.
Seems i got a reply from B&N about my complaint just now .. but all they wanted to do was tell me i can download the free app for my PC to read books.. wtf .. what happened to reading comprehension in customer service ..
Albert, I followed your instruction and video and all works exactly like your video. even down to the nonfunctional n button. Thankfully, the interrupted boot sequence worked. Now I've just gotta fix this force close issue...
Mine is back to normal now yay.. ( i cant edit posts yet apparently )
I did have a problem where the 'revert' to 1.40 was not actually erasing any user data so i had a complete mess of things. But, i was able to go into settings and deregister to get it back to stock. Then got it back to 1.40 and ran the root/etc.
Still miffed at B&N, but at least i no longer have a borderline worthless shiny object.
Hello,
Even though I found a lot of similiar problems and possible solutions for them,
none seemed to be suitable for my case.
My Phone:
Motorola Moto G2 with Android(either 4.4.4 or 6.0 sorry i dont know)
with SD-Card as internal storage
no root and with the stock bootloader locked
I will begin to describe my problem:
After accidentally tapping on a android app (the android head as icon - probably the setup wizard -) on my normally functioning phone, I got thrown into the setup sequence of the android setup-wizard, which is
unfortunately bugged and keeps crashing and restarting(-setup wizard has stopped-) no matter what. Any other action like using the home button(which disappeared) or access the dropdown menu is not possible and restarting or rebooting the phone wont solve the problem. The phone always starts in this setup-wizard.
So there are multiple Solutions to be found, but each of them either requires to have a rooted device or unlocked Bootloader or if not, factory reset the phone in order to install the above mentioned.
The thing is that I kinda gave up in getting my phone to work again since the only thing I seriously dont want to lose is the data, which im not able to extract anymore because I cant setup a ADB without access to settings or unlocked bootloader. And I am a big big dummy because I never did any backup on this device.
What really bugs me is that the phone still seems to function just fine(for example it still makes noises when I (probably) receive a message ) but its impossible to leave that damn setup-wizard.
I apologize for any dumb stuff or typos I just wrote, which are probably the result of a lot of exhaustion and despair.
I hope anyone can suggest a way to get to my data or even solve the problem.
Thanks in advance!

With that guidance...
You should be able to obtain some member guidance within the following Q&A thread that's specific to your device as well.

UNLESS asked to do so, PLEASE don't PM me regarding support. Sent using The ClaRetoX Forum App on my SM-G900V device.
OK, fixed it thank god
I will write down my solution in case that anyone faces the same problem and isnt
able to use advanced root/bootloader methods.
My Hero was a little "glitch" in the wizard, where you could partially leave it by
establishing a new network and write done something random to mark it and then
press share. afterwards you can try different applications which are shown to somehow reach the settings which is your golden goal. Gmail worked for me but it was really a back and forth till I somehow ended up in the playstore and then opened the settings application(if its not in the playstore try to open a launcher like Nova launcher or Google Now). If you managed to reach that point its nearly done.
just find the setup-wizard in your applications (systemapps) and give it ALL the rights it needs(should be phone and contacts). I have stopped him additionally but I dont think that added up anything. After that is done just hold the power button till its off and after the restart the setup wizard should be able to detect ur google account and finish his job.
Thank god there are glitches out there.
But as far as I found out alot of glitches get patched sooner or later so...yea:silly:
