Hey there, i needed my sd card for another phone, temporarly, so i removed it, used it, and inserted it into the sgs2 again.
Now, the apps that were on the sd does not work anymore. What can i do to make them work again, dont really want to loose the data.. "/
Thanks..
Well if they're on the SD card then you better put it back in, as that's unfortunately where the data now is.

He clearly states
"so i removed it, used it, and inserted it into the sgs2 again"
Anyway, an obvious question would be, did you remove any data / files / folders from your SD card??
Anyway. Have you checked to see if your SD Card is Mounted?
System Settings --> Storage --> Scroll down to SD Card and click on Mount Storage!
Restart your phone (in any case) and wait a few minutes for everything to load back up.

Hi,
Is it possible to move an existing app or install new app to USB Storage (comes along with SGS2) and not to the external SD card (i dont have though as 16 Gb is enough for me )......
When ever i install an app its getting installed in System storage (only 2 GB max available and i already have nearly 1.3 gb filled up there ).......so is it possible to move the stuffs from there to the internal USB STORAGE.........i checked app2sd but seems to be its poitning to the external sd card.....
also, when i went to applications and clicked "Move to SD card" its shwoing as not enough memory......
i have tried searching entore XDA but could find a viable solution.....
@JJEgan: Please do not tell me to search the net/ xda forums as a reply to this question (which u have already given to others http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1135233) as i have already searched a lot and tried different apps...but none could give me what i am really looking for.......
Any help on this is much appreciated........
Hmm, when I select Move to SD, it moves it. No problem at all. Puts them on the internal one.
Unreleated but might be helpful

When I moved some of my apps to sdstorage (internal) I did not know that if you do a factory reset it wipes your internal sdstorage (i.e. sdcrad), so make sure you do a backup to computer if you need to factory reset your device.
ATB
Oh wow. Which 'factory reset' function are we talking about in that case? You know, the one through the dialer, or the one in the options menu. I know, they do exactly the same but.. I noticed that if I select wipe data/factory reset in the recovery menu, it does not touch my SD cards at all. Let it be internal or external. Weird huh?
I am not too sure...

The thing is that I keep fiddling with my phone and my internal sdcard got wipe a few times. I know that the dialer will delete your stuff on the internal sdcard, but I think the one on the options menu also delete the sdcard, but I am not 100% sure and dont really want to try again just incase. So unless someone can confirm it better do a backup to PC.

Am i missing something here folks, sorry to hijack this thread i dont wanna start a new one and it's a similar issue i have, when i connect the cable from my phone to the usb on my laptop i cant see my SD card (even after i have unmounted sd card)
what am i doing wrong here, all i wanna do is to copy music and files onto my external SD without having to physically taking the SD card out of the phone.
cheers
Unmount? You must've meant mount. You mean when you select Mount USB from the status bar, the external sd won't show up? What about the internal one, can you access that one?

Guys,
Sorry to disturb you in your conversation
but, i think my question is not answered or i didnt understood the replies.....can any one of you pls help me
i am having the same problem as smilingcruel. keeps saying not enough memory. Am i actually trying to save to an external sd and is there a setting i should change? running out of space quick.
Hi.
I have the same problem, but it seems no one has answered the question yet.
Is there any solution ?
Maybe the problem has been addressed in some other thread... thanks in advance for your help.
David
I have the same problem that when I say move to SD it tells me "Failed to move application: Not enough Memory" but when I look on the sd card I see it there.
Also, it seems not all can be moved to the internal sd card. I was hoping to do something like link2sd does but it requires you to repartition the SD card and I'm not how to do that with the internal one.
link2sd rocks for creating links for just about any app on your sd card.
Not sure if this would help. I have been having d same prob previously.
But once i inserted a SD card (regardless of wat d size is), i'd able to send d apps to the internal memory through app2sd. (not d external sd in fact)
No answer yet ?
How can we move our app from internal phone memory ( 2 gb ) to out USB Storage (30 gb internal )
Move to SD option says that "Failed to move application. No SD card"
I have enough memory on my phone (32 bg ) and I don't want to add an external SD card , how can I sole this problem ?
thanks
So there is any solution to install apps on USB Storage? Because when I move them by App2sd to external SD they disappeared after rebot.
I'm using Omega v19.2 Jelly Bean 4.1.2 ROM, but probably it's the same problem on stock.
I am having this issue also, but in Jelly Bean.
I used a 4GB SD card to flash my phone with Chameleon ROM (4.1.2 JB) and the SmartROM kernel, when the phone was setup and working I removed the SD card.
Before when I used Resurrection Remix (also 4.1.2 JB) that was not an issue, but then again I had never used a SD card with it.
Now I can not install anything because of lack of space and I can not move any app to the Internal "USB" partition... even though there is 5 GB free.
I did format the entire phone (using CWM Recovery, formatted system, data, etc, etc) before I installed Chameleon.
What gives?
This thread went quiet without a resolution, I have the same issue on 4.1.2, with my internal sd 12gb partition being empty and apps not moving either saying failed or not enough space.
With an external sd card mounted it moves them there, but after a reboot as others mentioned they now longer function.
Any help would be appreciated!
Parition works with CM9 and CM10.2 oddly not sammy 4.1.2
I have had my sd card randomly get cleared 2 or 3 times now. I have TNT Lite 4.40 installed. The last time, about an hour ago, I had put the tablet to sleep and it wouldn't come back awake so I had to hold down the power to get it to start up. It was stuck in the startup animation for 10 minutes so I turned it off and tried again. That time it started up but I got several force closes at startup and all apps on the sd card were gone. I rebooted again but still got the force closes. To get rid of the force closes, I cleared the Dalvik cache and Reset Permissions. I had to use Titanium Backup to restore all of the apps. All apps on the internal memory were fine.
Does anyone know what causes this and how I can prevent it in the future?
When you say "all apps on the sd card were gone", did you mean all apps on the internal sdcard were gone (ie. all apps explicitly "moved to tablet/SD card") ? Or was it the apps on the external SD card?
And, when you say "all apps on the internal memory were fine" did you mean all apps that came with the system (ie all apps in /system/app) are fine or all user downloaded apps (those in /data/app--not moved to SD card) are fine?
All of the apps that I'm talking about I downloaded. Some of them (less than 20) installed directly to the sd card (the internal sd card, not the external sd card). My external sd card remains empty.
When this happened before, I had moved all apps possible to the sd card (again, the internal sd card). Then when they all disappeared it took quite a long time to restore all of them from Titanium Backup because there were a lot more. So, I haven't moved any since then.
So, it looks like all user downloaded apps (ie. the ones that didn't come with the system), whether on /data or on /sdcard are gone after a reboot.
For a test, can you re-install 2 apps, one to /data and one to the (internal) SD card? Then reboot the system and see if the apps are still present.
No, not all user downloaded apps were gone; only the ones on the internal sd card (at /mnt/asec). The apps at /data/app have never disappeared. And this doesn't happen every time that I reboot. It has only happened a few times. I just don't know why.
OK.
1. This sort of usually happens only if you mess around with /system/etc/vold.fstab. You've not changed it right?
2. The files may have been deleted/moved during the filesystem check done before mount. Check for large files in /mnt/sdcard/LOST.DIR to see if they were recovered.
3. Unmount the internal SD card and see if the (deleted) apps are still in /mnt/sdcard/.android_secure.
4. Check the same .android_secure directory on the external SD card.

There are 5 files there but they are each only 8k.

I'll do these steps the next time it happens. If I'm lucky, it won't happen again.
I turned off my phone, took out the sdcard, gave it to my friend.
My friend inserted it on her phone, viewed some files that were in it, then pulled the sdcard out without turning off her phone.
Does that damage the sdcard? Some apps are definitely missing, and maybe some pictures too, not sure.
What to do?
Thanks guys!
Not necessarily, but can be. Use some file recovery software.

how do i format the sdcard using my phone? do I go to recovery mode?
Don't you want to recover the files before formatting?
Anyhow, you can format it from recovery as well as settings-> storage -> format memory card.
I already made a back up. thanks!!!
Happened with me a lot of times.
Go to settings -> SD Card and phone storage -> Unmount sd card -> Stay on that screen and wait for 5 mins
If you do not get a notification regarding the unmounting of your sd card, switch off your phone, take out your sd card, boot into recovery, insert your sd card, try browsing some files on your sdcard (I hope you understood what I want to say), switch on your phone and see whether you sd card works. My card worked almost everytime using this process. I dont know how? But it just works.
PS - If your sd card still doesnt work then you will need to format it.

If you don't unmount your sd card before removing it, it can get corrupted.
A simple indicator of that is you won't be able to install any app untill the card is mounted in your device.
Happened to me a lot when i was new to ACE
Make sure to unmount before removing, or you can just turn it off and then remove, your choice

It should be in Settings -> CyanogenMod Settings -> Application; check "Use internal storage," then reboot.

You can't just go into Settings and remount the SD card through that? Even then, it's not really a huge hassle to remove and reinsert, unless you constantly restart your phone for whatever reasons.

I've try to go into Settings and remount the SD card, but it's not work unless I remove and reinsert the card.
Sometimes, my phone is out of battery, and i have problem with my SD card.
I've try to format my SD card with FAT32 type, but i can't resolve my problem. Maybe i'll try with a new card
Thanks so much!

There's only rare occasions in which I run my phone's battery very low. There's only an incidence once or twice where my Z3v died on me from lots of usage. How do you kill your battery that often??
