Stock FM radio app for ICS 4.0.4? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all. I installed hydrogen.ics with ics 4.0.4 and everywhere I looked for, nobody was able to restore the original FM radio tuner app that comes with the official ics 4.0.3 from Samsung.
Is there a place somebody can point me to so I can download a backed up or compiled apk of this app?
Or if I'm asking for an impossible, could you guys please explain me why this is not possible? I find hard that having the original app from the official rom nobody could have taken it and packed it into an apk for easier installation, but I'm surely missing some or several points.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Cesar.

I think that the radio app that comes with stock Samsung ICS is dependent on the TouchWiz framework. So it won't work on am AOSP or AOKP ROM.
Try Spirit FM Radio from the Play Store.

Spirit fm radio from the play store works as the stock radio used to.
Just make you sure you go in settings - audio - and choose galaxy s2 test

Thanks for the replies, people. I knew about the Spirit FM Radio app. That was the only one I found on my previous research and that was also the reason of my post, because I wonder how was that there's only one app for this, when it's something so basic on so many phones.
I'll stick to ctomgee's answer regarding that the stock app might be dependant on TouchWiz framework (I guess the TW framework can't be used in any custom rom either, right?)
Thanks again.

hmmm...
I tried already a few of them and it's quite strange that installation fails... do fm radio applications (non-streaming) require any extra things beyond the apk file??
any help please? One of the few apps on google play says it only works with motorloa, so I guess there is a dependency on the model/brrand thus not just any radio app will work. And why should not work with the stock one? (which is just fine for me)
If anybody knows of an fm radio that works with galaxy ace s5830i please let me know!

Then flash to stock rom, backup fmradio.apk with titanium backup, flash to your custom rom and restore fmradio.apk

I'm guessing this is cos you're on Jelly Blast, there's several solutions install Rafael baugis kernel, or install soundabout app (in settings find the one that says let phone decide and check it) download from Google play, these will fix your problem

U can use file explorer with system acces (es file explorer is what I use). App is in system/app folder and it's easy to extract it and push in your ROMs system. I'm not sure if it will work though
Hi again,
I just tried the option with flashing the old htc fm radio app into the system/app folder. From what I've seen it doesn't work.
I extracted the apk from a previous backup with the stock 4.0.3 rom. I didn't find any additional libs or anything but after rebooting the app didn't show up.
Also on a AOSP Rom as CM10.2 it is not very likely to get a HTC/Sense app running. Therefore I looked around and found another option: thr Spirit FM app
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1059296
But here as well I wasn't lucky and didn't get any positive results...
If anybody has better luck or experience with the Spirit FM let me know, I'd be happy to have a simple FM radio back

[Q] New and needing direction

I am fairly new to the Android scene, and even newer to the rooting scene as well.
I am a A+ computer tech, that said I know nothing about Android, rooting or customizing the interface and am learning daily, I have been told by associates that the xda forums are the best resource for finding stable usable custom ROMs and information,
so I enrolled to pick some brains and hopefully learn a few things.
now since my ability to search forums has always has always been "top notch", (Pinocchio's nose got nothing on me by that statement), I'm sure I'll be asking questions that have been asked a bunch of times, I respectfully ask that in stead of flaming me, please just post a link to the proper forum post and I will be greatly appreciative.
question 1.
where do I find a rom install guide for idiots, primarily for a galaxy player 5.0 YP-G70
question 2.
what is the most stable and fully functional ROM for my YP-G70, when I say fully functional I mean camera and all, as I have been reading there are issues with newer ROMs with the back facing camera, and I need the camera to be fully functional as I use it almost daily at work for lables and assembly/disassemby pictures., I've heard that Cyanogenmod is one of the best out there, is there a fully functional and stable version that will work with my YP-G70?
question 3.
an idiots guide for what can be accomplished by rooting and how to do it, such as turning off adds, removing or moving stock programs and settings etc.
there will always be more questions but I won't push the noob envelope to much, these three are my most pressing

I'm running CyanogenMod 10.2 (4.3.1) and I'm able to use the back camera via High-Speed Camera (there are probably other apps, but this is the one I'm using). I don't know if it works with the other ROMs (and I don't see why it wouldn't), so someone else will have to get back to you w/that one.

If you want to remove stock apps, then you can download Titanium Backup (or an app that's similar) and uninstall them that way.

The short answer here is stick with stock. The rear facing camera has been a problem on every ROM, except stock based roms. There are some workarounds but If you need good quality photos from rear cam then stock based is your only solution...
Thank you both for the info and direction.
I know to keep something stock is to keep it original.... but what do you mean stock based? an original ROM that has been stripped but the core and drivers are the same?
and what stock based ROM would you recommend for my GP5.0 yp-g70 that might give me a little better performance and nice appearance?
also I haven't had a chance to explore all the information yet, but can someone give me a link to a good source of direction on how to use titanium backup, or some other app to back up my device, OS and apps so if I should get something not to my likeing I can revert back to original.
and thanks again for no flaming

Scroll down to "5.0 (stock based)"
"Stock based" simply means a modified stock ROM. "stock" sort of meaning; a ROM from the manufacturer. I haven't personally tried any of the stock based ROMS. They may have issues. Im only saying that it is the stock and stock based ROMS that have the potential to have a fully working rear cam. You have to read in each post to find out if there are issues.
in 4.3 rom u can capture from fast busrt app camera

[Q] TV 2 Sumo app on root

So I live in Norway and there is a TV channel there which have just released an android app to watch their shows.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=no.tv2.sumo
The sad thing is an error pops up when I try to stream videos saying it won't work on a rooted device(which my Note 2 is). I tried following the
guide for HBO nordic (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2057765) but I couldn't find the function that would be similar to checkRoot() . Is there anyone who has an idea on how to find it?
*bump*
I also have this problem. According to this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=50178098&postcount=258) post you can watch videos on stock ROMs using rootcloak, but since the TV2 Sumo app uses kernel detection to discover modified devices this doesn't work on AOSP ROMs. I would really like to stick with CM, so I hope someone can dive into the code and make a modified .apk or a guide on how to do so. Thanks in advance!

Hi! This app does not work anymore. The following fault code is returnes: VIDEO_START_FAILED. How is the prospect of getting an updated version that is working on custom roms?
Best regards.

[Q] Can´t find Stock keyboard 4.1.2 to my Custom 4.2.2 ROM

Hi, can You help me find stock keyboard for my i9100? I have installed custom ROM 4.2.2 (RevolutionRom UX Build1) and now I haven´t it.
Is it possible find apk file or zip for cwm install? Thanks so much
You can't run stock apps like that 'as is' on AOSP, different frameworks = won't work.
It would need to be ported to AOSP, and whether there is one or not, your guess is as good as mine; a Google search with XDA appended to your search terms, an XDA search or asking in the CM discussion thread will give you a definite answer.
This is something that a bit of searching WOULD have found for you......
