Hi There,
I am currently using the eman Xperia Codename L5 with unlocked bootloader. I just noticed that my digital compass is not working. I tried a full system reset and it is still not working. A compass app that I downloaded from the market says Error with MAGNETIC sensor, reset phone.
I want to know if any one else is facing this issue or not, is it any how related to the OS that I am using? If its a hardware issue Ill take it to sony, I hope they can fix/replace it. But if any one else is having a similar issue, please report.

Here is a thread with some similar problem. But solutions are same !

Hi,
is this file same for neo V? I just noticed, I forgot to mention, I have a neo V (MT11)
Please confirm and I am on my way.
@monil.verma My sensor is not working at all, the apps are not getting a signal. I doubt giving it an EMF pulse will do anything, you still think I should try?

Just in case the above method doesn't work. Because the accelerometer gets struck at one of its mean position if it is exposed to a very emf for a short period of time. So if its not a software problem then it can work !

is there a possibility of this being a hardware issue? I am downloading the official ICS firmware and if that doesnot work, Ill take it to Sony Care, lucky I did not unlock bootloader. Any ways, if any one gets any new idea, please let me know
Steady Compass
Have you checked the compass on your google maps, does it point the right direction? I'm also facing the compass problem on most compass application except in google maps, but I find Steady Compass works for me.

Hi all,
Some camera applications like google goggles is now showing images upside down. I am using the rom from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1446774.
Anyone having this same problem? Is there a solution for this?
Thanks in advance!
Sorry still a newbie, can't post on development thread.
Regards.
Yes, this is some sorta bug with these devices.
Btw, with Google talk, on the receiving end the image appears right side up, even though it is upside down for you.
I have just noticed this problem. It seems to be affecting some camera apps but not all. Not much clue on the cause of the problem. e.g. Camera Zoom FX, Angel Camera and the default camera seems to work but Vignette doesn't.
yes also mytubo and google+ hangouts.. i wish someone can fix this and also the compass

The rom you are using is essentially stock plus a custom kernel. Let me backtrack and see if this is due to the use of the custom kernel. If yes, it is probably a driver problem and we can report to the kernel thread.
It also sometimes appear with Skype on my device, with the back camera (yp-GB70 with GB.KRKPH). I thought it had something to do with rotation of the screen?
Just retry stock rom (XXKPF), the image is also upside down in some apps. Anybody else have similar problem on stock rom? If it happens only in some apps, I suspect that it is much likely that it is a problem of the app.
When I google about this kind of problem, I can see many apps often have up-side down image on their bug list (fixed or not fixed) for different kinds of devices.

Hey, just messing with google+, and I can't find anywhere to start a hangout! Help?
Ah, nvm, I see you need to be over 18 to use hangout.
(Why did I ever tell google my real age?? Epic facepalm!)
I had the same problem. But with the latest update via kies, the problem disappears. Even with a custom rom. For example, I 'm using rj's kernel, and with the latest stock rom, the upside down camera problem is gone.

I have been using this ROM for some time now, and since the update allowing super user its has worked rather well,
I was wondering if anyone can post some fixes for the following problems (I'm a new user so I cannot post on the development page),
the audio does not work with headphones, I have tried many different types but it will simply play music out loud with or without headphones,
the inbuilt themes, I can download them and apply them but the theme will not change,
poor 3g connection, very tempremental but usable, (I did not have this issue with cm9 mini, cm7 or prime)
wifi - it can detect wifi but when I attempt to connect it is a failure, could this possible be due to my router ??
rotation - auto rotate does not work making it slightly harder to use on-screen keyboard
I can confirm a good battery life, specially in comparison to cm9,
runes smoothly, good battery life and smooth interface with 748MHz-19MHz [smartassV2] overclocking
If any one can make and update.zip or send me specific .apk's ect to fix any of these issues please do so, further more I would like for someone to post the issue of the headphones not being recognized on the actual thread,
Make sure to have NAA kernel 11 installed.

I have the latest ICS kernel installed and it worked fine with nAn's CM9 port but it very temperamental on miui, my on screen keyboard will not appear at times whilst other times it works relatively well or my screen will not wake after it is unlocked (i will be able to unlock the screen and click on apps but the screen is completely off) the only way I can fix it is locking and unlocking the screen multiple times so it catches up :S
but by far the headphone jack not recognizing any of my headphones including the standard set you get with the phone is my biggest issue, I love my music, the issues hasn't been mentioned on the ROM page so I'm unaware if its just effecting me, which would mean I've done something wrong or it is an actual bug that has been overlooked
thank you for the quick response by the way :good:
There is another MIUI rom, by stelios97, where the headphones don't work either, but he suggests a workaround Take a look here and see if that fixes your problem.

Hi,
I am quite a heavy NFC user, especially the Xperia SmartTags (made via my app of course). I have noticed that since the ICS upgrade, or possibly v 1.1.9 of Xperia SmartTag app my NFC detection rate has dropped from 100% to about 30%. Today I put my phone in my tagged car dock and nothing happened, then about 15 minutes into the journey, the tag was detected and Xperia SmartTag kicked in.
Looking at the phone log I am getting a lot of
07-09 23:13:44.600: W/NFC-LLC(758): LLC length mis-match
Perhaps 1 every every 3 seconds.
Google has been no help at all. Does anyone here experience the same issues or entries in the log? (install aLogCat to view the log)
Cheers
-- Phil
Update:
I have tracked process id 758 to be the NFC Service. This is throwing the warning every 2 seconds. The warnings stop when NFC is disabled. The issue remains even after removing Xperia SmartTags app and rebooting.
Same issue here. NFC is barely usable this way.
If you open the service menu, there is an nfc test. That test detects nfc tags perfectly all the time. So somethine is screwed up in the sony software.

Thanks for the info, I'm glad its nothing I have done. I think I am going to flash back to GB. ICS is nice, and Chrome is amazing, but NFC is more important to me.
does anyone on GB see this?
I think it is a bug in the current ics rom. On gingerbread it worked fine. I have smart tags all over the place
I'm sure it will be resolved in a future update.

I'm sort of counting on it, although I don't use NFC that much, it was a very useful thing.
I'm running ICS 6.1.A.1.58 and the Xperia NFC Tags work maybe 1 out 10 tries (if I'm lucky) I know there's a higher firmware 6.1.A.2.45, does anyone have this who can confirm the NFC Tag issue has been fixed?
Works perfectly on ka15. It should be fixed in last two firmwares

I have 6.1.B.0.544 and I do have NFC problems. To scan Xperia SmartTag I need to put the phone on the tag and wait for 10-15 seconds. Which makes the technology useless. This is really annoying. Meanwhile my wife uses her SGS3 with my tags just in miliseconds which annoys me even more.
Have you taken the latest SmartConnect update? Since taking it NFC has worked 100%
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
I just bought an xperia P LT22i yesterday and it could detect smart tags just fine. Then I updated to Android 4.1.2 (6.2.A.0.400) (don't know exactly what changed) and it completely ignored my tags. Would never detect them.
I tried to update that smart connect app andit didn't change anything.
Than I reseted my phone to factory settings. It didn't downgrade the system, but the smarttags app was gone and the smart connect app (wich has been downgraded) started to detect the tags 100% and treat them as "events". When I touch a tag it starts an event and if I touch the same tag again the event ends. And smarttag app is useless.
I know nothing about file transfers, never tried them.
(repeating post 'cause I've posted on the wrong thread :silly
I too have a NFC issue with my LT26i. The thing is I had the whole NFC and SIM flex replaced and before I broke the original one the NFC had worked fine, even on ICS. Now, after I installed the new flex, the NFC function shows it's enabled but it doesn't detect anything. I freshly flashed the ICS ROM, nothing. Updated to JB, still nothing. Could the flex or the antenna have a problem? I doubt the antenna has a problem but the flex, even though it's new, it could have some issues and it's not genuine.

Hi guys,
I'm new here and i've been using the xperia s for about a month now, really like the phone. However i want to try stock android ui etc and decided to flash fxp 133 . I just want to know if there is any issues with the unofficial cyangenmod 9. I know hdmi is not working but its not really a feature i use anyway. What about the rest like camera , nfc and all the wireless connectivity.
Yeah it's pretty much stable there's only one or two things that users have noticed I.e. you can't send sms with over 160 characters and perhaps a few other things but really you can't notice them and they don't impact performance. Bin4ry from FXP explained the SMS bug in the dev thread but yeah go for it, if you have any questions just ask
I recently jumped onto the Xperia S CM9 train and I must say our dev's did a VERY good job with it. The SMS problem is not even really an issue (hit send at 160char) so I wouldn't worry about that really.
I am usually very cautious when flashing beyond a modified stock, as a heap of problems can happen, but honestly, I am not looking back, and any small bugs that may appear later on, I have the confidence in the FXP team that they will sort it out.
If you don't really mind the HDMI and hitting send at 160 characters, I would say go for it..you could always go back, and it will keep getting better and better . Just remember to read through everything carefully and flash responsibly
Enjoy!

Hi all. I was wondering if anyone is having a problem with their compass, either in a compass app or Google Maps. I'm finding that no matter where I am and how much I try to "calibrate" the compass, it has a problem finding the correct bearings. My old S3 never had this problem and I'm wondering if it's a hardware defect or a software issue.

I'm having the same issue. I've tried the three rotation and the figure 8 calibration methods and both a compass app and Google Maps are showing incorrect (and inconsistent) compass readings. A few other threads (in other G3 forums) have noted this, some saying it might be the GPS heading or something. Hard to say for sure.
I noticed the problem after I downloaded Google Sky Map. The phone didn't track properly and went back close to North after a second or two. I was trying to show someone what the app could do and needless to say he was not impressed. I hope there's a fix for this soon.
I had installed the ZV6 update, but my compass issue persisted. I then grabbed the modem.img file from this thread and flashed it using the flash2 tools and my preliminary tests look promising.

Interesting, as the modem and kernel are included already. In ZV6 update and BarRin.

I expected that it was, but I figured "What the hell, what could it hurt?" and flashed it. There was a definite improvement. Google Maps no longer thinks I'm constantly looking out my side window.
memory effect
Hello.
I found that issue have a memory effect.
I tried my own application and maps => ko
I started 3d gyro compass => ok ( don t know why... Maybe init sequence)
I re tried my application and maps => ok
So you cannot evaluate if an update fix or not if you don t do exactly the same sequence...

Hi. I actually followed what @somnifac did by flashing the ZV6 modem.img separately and I haven't had any compass issues since then. But since you have a different variant this doesn't really apply to your phone. I also installed HERE Offline Maps like you mentioned and I didn't get that message. Do you have all the latest updates on your phone? Perhaps the Lollipop update might fix this issue. Best of luck!

i think it's for Sprint only
when i open the app it doesn't appear, only if i touch the green circle in the bottom left it says that the compass needs to be calibrated, after i calibrate it it's ok,but once i disable GPS and enable it, it appears again, i hope it's not my device that has a problem, maybe i'll be able to get my hands on another G3 to sort it out. Thanks
