Hello just joined the Evo 3D scheme. I saw the development thread and it doesn't seem that active...but I see some very nice roms, so wich Rom should I try out?
I'm looking for a rom that's pretty fast and simple. And has some pretty good battery life. I'm not that much into those eye candy kinds of things so...yeah..

I'd recommend the rom you have to read about and then try out.

It all depends. Are you a sense or AOSP kinda guy/gal? As for sense 3.6, I would suggest either the D3rp rom or team nocturnal xi36. Both run great and everything works. Both have sense and senseless download options. Both are fast and simple.
Drop zero's 3.6 rom is awesome and fast with a lot of tweaks to it and is visually modified as well.
For AOSP, I am running cm9 and love it but it is in alpha stage. No wimax yet and other bugs.

If you want ICS, try Cool ICS v5. Its one of the more complete ICS roms out there now where everything is pretty much working. If you can live without tethering.
I would have to agree with Kfunk... The Derp ICS has been my favorite as far as sense-based Roms go... simply because it's compatible with most themes & mods. However, I have been hopelessly addicted to "Devil Toast" cm9. Very fast and seems most stable aosp Rom
Honestly, we don't have enough ROMs that you'd need to go asking which one to try. Just experiment! That's the fun part. Nothing that you flash is permanent, you get to play around and figure out what it is you like.
I am running Joelz CM9. works great other than the cammera.
Hey Inception! Your username rocks, guess you liked the movie, eh? Me too.
Extremely recommendable ROM: Virtuous Shooter 3.0.5. Works perfectly (even camera and all 3D stuff), is fully featured, spiced with love and runs smooth like a Harley Davidson. ENJOY!

I've rooted my phone yesterday & flashed the MikG 1.1 with the blue theme .
Anything better or nicer then that ROM ?
I used to have MikG for my old EVO 4G & it was awesome .
I didnt really liked the blue theme on this rom . All works fine though .

It's all personal preference. I'm currently using viperROM 1.3 with silverneedle5 kernel. My antutu benchmark is 4425 with the default settings loaded.
You can just flash themes, so cosmetics shouldn't be a major determining factor. Just need to decide if you prefer Sense or ASOP or something else. The dev forum has about a dozen options.
My rom, cursed dragon, awesome benchmarks no lag and awseome treats

I'm using Zone23's OMJEVOZone. Its pretty stock with green replaced with blue. Doesn't have anything in the theme that sticks out like a sore thumb or looks like something the dev forgot to theme something, Zone did a very thorough job on it.

Yes, Viper comes with the stock kernel. It still uses the OC Daemon which will underclocks your phone in sleep mode, then automatically bring it back up to speed with no lag. Great for battery life.
Viper also supports his rom like crazy... 1 hour responses in his thread are pretty common.
I'll probably give it a try sometime over this weekend .
Does it have themes ? Tweaks ? Goodies ? ;-)

I've tried a bit of everything (I guess you can say I'm a flashaholic). I liked SupraROM the most for Empire's ability to make a super stable ROM with the AOSP aesthetics. Very very nice. ViperROM and Synergy are other good ones too.
VirusRom cuz Virus is a BAMF lol, but the rom is super clean and fast it has lots
of work done along with stripped down sense which happens to be the best for me =)
I am currently installing WTSB.
I want a rom with sense 3.0 lock screen and carousel home screens.
My other must have is unlocked sprint wifi
Any other roms i should be checking out?

I'm currently running miui latest version and its a damn good rom except it lacks 3d and 4g so I was hoping someone might be able to recommend a good rom with both 3d & 4g. It doesn't matter if its sense or aosp. Please and thank you
Sent from my miuified 3vo
Well no AOSP roms will have 3d or 4g for a while, so a sense based rom is your only choice. Have you looked at Myns Two Point Three rom? That is the only sense based rom I can find myself using, absolutely love it. Or for more of a AOSP feel, you can check out the slimmed down Senseless rom from scrosler...

I always find myself going back and forth between AOSP and Sense. 4G isnt too important to me but i do love 3D. I work in a 4G area but we have wifi at work so im always connected to that. I do like some sense features but i cant find a Sense ROM/Kernel combination that is stable enough for me. I have tried a lot of Sense 3.0 ROMs and just cant find one good enough.

Exactly what he said. I can't get away from the pure beauty and stability of MIUI, so i have the best of both worlds.... best of all 5 worlds rather, because that's how many roms you can have configured at once with boot manager..... If you want MIUI, sense, and AOSP all running on the same phone, this is the way to do it.
I am running 1.12.02 Miui as my main phone rom/daily driver, running senseless, and running Warm all at the same time. 2 open slots for if i want to try a rom out.
Seriously, boot manager makes it stupid easy to switch between roms.
I used CleanRom and it is pretty good. I am using Android Revolution right now and it's pretty good now.
Myn's rom all the way with ziggys kernel
+1 for Myn's ROM but the latest Anthrax kernel will give you the best performance...
Eternity 1.4.2 is the best Sense 3.0 ROM that supports 4G and 3D IMO. Warm TwoPointThree is ok but I just found too many small little issues with it
using the AnthraX kernels with either Myn's or InfectedROM Eternity would be best for stability, performance, and battery overall.
Im not really looking for spin offs of the stock rom, I picked up this phone yesterday and just got root going so im looking for any and all roms where everything works, preferably a asop build if there is one, (when i say everything I include 3d, camera, and wimax as i live in a 4g area) any advice?

You're not going to find an AOSP ROM with everything working, because there isn't one yet. I would suggest viper ROM, clean ROM, or mean ROM. I have been on viper lately and it runs great on my device.

flawless, and tons of performance tweaks...

what performance tweaks can i do with eternity rom???
bro I'm just gonna give it to you straight up here.... you can "tweak" any ROM. just try a few of them out because everyone's opinion will be different and more importantly they will be different than yours. give those two a shot in mentioned and go from there

I am waiting the official ICS rom but I dont think I still have enough patient. So I decided to flash custom ROM. Can anyone recommand one? Stable is better. And is there a customer ROM can improve camera performance?
Me too
I was about to ask this too. There has been a lot of movement on the ICS front recently. Is it suitable for daily use now and which ROM will give me stability and most features (at least 2D camera and not bothered about FM)? Thanks
I'm currently on LeeDroid 5.4

I personally prefer AOSP (CM) ROMs, but as of now there's a couple of compromises in functionality to be made.
When I use Sense Roms, I like stability and performance Drops's or MikeyXda's Roms are usually my choice.
That said, this last leak is really stable and ICS performs really smoothly, so most Roms run fine

sure 3d camera doesnt work (2d does and front facing) and the wimax doesnt work yet, but the rom is SMOOTH AF. im loving the improved autocorrect upgrades and the look and feel of sense 4.0.
i'd recommend it over any other ics rom atm
Pretty much any Rom based on the official leak is nice and stable. I'd suggest you try out virtuos, king cobra, and mwakious. Run each of them for a day and just stick with the one you like best. Also anryl's Rom I heard is nice (but I haven't tried it yet)
Edit: also all of these roms are fully functional. Full working camera and nice battery life

In my humble opinion, if your talking about the most features it would be the Charmaleon ROM, your able to theme quite a few things because of a tweak add-on he has in the rom. It's on the third page of ROM developement.

I'll second ViperRom or MeanROM, if you're looking at ICS ROM's. With JB ROM's the verdict is still out, but Viper's base JB ROM works pretty well, as does MeanBean (the ROM I'm currently running). Not to say these are by any means the best, just a handful of the few I've tried since coming to the EVO LTE. It's all subjective, really, since what's best for one user may not be best for another.

Thanks for the input. I want to stick with a JB ROM but I travel so much with my job to places with horrible reception or Hotels with no wi-fi and then I get fc's or I start to loose certain functions and I have to go back to an older ROM. I think I'm going to designate a memory card to keep a few good ROMs on when I travel to nip it. I haven't tried Viper's base. I think that'll be my next ROM.

I'll put a third vote in for the Mean series. I've tried MIUI and CM10 recently, but I always end up coming back to the beauty of Sense. The dev on MeanRom and MeanBean is very active and has made it very simple to update to his newest version with an OTA updater.
That said, I am currently checking out the rEVOLTEd rom, with JB. I was particularly interested in how the dev used the AOSP vanilla version of Recent Apps switcher rather than the Sense version... The camcorder is not currently working, but it should be fixed in the next version. Other than that, it seems to be running very well.
Overall, there really are some great options out there for JB and ICS Roms.

Just want to say thanks to everyone who gave their opinions and input in this thread. I flashed Mean Bean and loved it. Problem was I flashed it wrong. Didn't upgrade to 3.15 firmware first. In the process of trying to do that I bricked, fixed, unlocked/ unrooted, upgraded, unlocked, rooted, and finally reflashed Mean Bean. I haven't had this much fun in a long time. I've been so use to dropping roms on a sd and flashing I forgot one of the most important things about XDA. READ Instructions before flashing new roms. Thanks again to everyone who commented and gave advice. You helped me find exactly what I was looking for.

You Sir are absolutely correct. My favorite so far.
I tried both meanbean and stock w/ goodies and I really like the fluidity of meanbean. However, the battery life seemed like it was better on stock w/ goodies. I also used rom cleaner w/ the no-sense option on both of the roms so i'm not sure if that contributed to better speed or battery life. I decided to stick w/ meanbean! no fc or errors for me and everythings been running great!
