Titanium backup - no apps to restore after flashing ics - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi.
I backed up all my user apps with titanium and now after flashing cm9 I don't see any apps in the batch restore menu (says 0 apps to restore).
The backup folder is configured to the right one and the folder have all my backed up apps.
Tried: reflashing, wiping, reinstalling TB, rebooting.
What can I do to see and be able to restore my apps?
Thanks in advance

Have you changed the backup location to point to where you have backed up all of your apps through Titanium? That could be why it is displaying that there are no apps that may be restored.

This. Same thing happened to me. Have to tell TiBu what folder the backups are in and then it will load them.

As you did all the above you surely checked that TB's filter function does not prevent your applications from showing up, did you?

Is there any other app to restore te titanium backed up data....?

Make sure "Normal apps (apk)" is checked in Titanium Backup app
In order for the backup to properly be restored after OS upgrade/update, you would need to have the apk files. The apk files are backed up by Titanium Backup as apk.gz files ONLY if the Menu -> Preferences -> Normal apps (apk) is checked before you back up the apps. Otherwise, it would only backup the app properties and data and not the apk files.
So this is how it works:
Scenario 1: Menu -> Preferences -> Normal apps (apk) is checked
With Titanium Backup, you can restore the APP + DATA.
Scenario 2: Menu -> Preferences -> Normal apps (apk) is unchecked
With Titanium Backup, you can restore only the DATA, but you can do so only after you install the app either from playstore or manually (in case if you have the .apk file).
Hope this helps.

[Q] Titanium Backup - No Apps listed to backup!?

Hi,
I have about 120 user-apps installed which I installed through Titanium Backup Pro 5 yesterday. Now when I want to back them up again (new settings, new apps and so on) and go into the Batch restore/backup window it shows as if I haven't got a single app installed. It just says 0 everywhere in there.
I've tried deleting data and uninstalling, rebooted and installed Titanium again, nothing.
Switched back and forth with where the storage is kept (internal SD, External SD emmc).
- Running Cyanogenmod 9, nightly 23/4 (should tell you I've never had this problem before and have flashed every CM9 nightly since start Jan 1 2012).
- Gapps for ICS from 22 April
- Busybox 1.18.4 from app installed and OK
and
- SQLite also OK (Says Titanium Backup)
Where do I go from here?
You have a problem with an application which has its own website including links for support.
did u factory wipe???check ur titainum version is it 5?? wen u did a bckup was ur titanium version 5 or 4? does ur bckup folder in phone show empty or has apps??

Hi,
Yup, always factory wipe, wipe cache and Dalvik Cache when flashing a new ROM.
Titanium is version 5.0
I don't remember which version Titanium was when I last ran a backup. ~3 days ago.
The backup folder is full of backups, but they're from ~3 days ago, it's what I used to restore all the apps to this nightly version. It's just that I can't backup any more apps because Titanium says I don't have any apps installed!?
I've made a backup on both PC, emmc and internal SD.
Number of app data elements it says is 225, still shows nothing under "Backup", only under Restore.
I think you are confused, you have installed all the application from TB backup and all the applications are already backed up, then definetely it will show there is 0 application to backup...
if you want to make a fresh backup, move all data to your PC from Titaniumbackup forlder and wipe cache of the TB and try..
Update or reinstall TB then reboot .
jje
Got fed up.
Booted into CWM touch, format data, clear cache, clear dalvik
Reinstall CM9 25/4, reinstall Gapps 22/4.
Reboot.
Downloaded ES file explorer from Play. Copied everything from internal SD to "_Backup"-folder.
Installed Titanium Backup.
Copied my PC-basckup of the Titanium Backup folder.
Restored everything from Titanium Backup.
Now everything works fine again.
UPDATE:
Apparently it's Super SU that's causing Titanium Backup to go haywire. As soon as I installed that and let it become the main Superuser app it screwed up Titanium Backup.
Confirming and an easier way
I had the exact same problem and the culprit seems to be su elite which I had bought a week previous to discovering this.
You do not need to uninstall or reflash cmw. You only need to rename the backup file + delete Titanium cache and data from applications setup.

I've just had this problem crop up. I'm not using su elite. Complete wipe and flash hasn't helped. Renaming the backup file and clearing TiBU's cache and data does make the "number of data elements" report something other than "0." But attempting a backup of any kind shows 0 apps.
Luckily I am able to pull apps and data from my nandroid backup, but that's several days old, and it does nothing for the actual need of a TiBU backup.

What I did to resolve the same issue you guys were having was to rename the backup folder, create a quick back up of an app so the folder gets regenerated. Then plugged phone to PC and deleted the files with "squares" in the file name as other invalid characters in them (besides the a-z, 0-9, and symbols). Copied the old files to the new back up folder and all my backups are being read just fine.
I didn't even have to uninstall the app or clear it's cache or data.

Thanks. I ended up taking another route. I was on the same track you present, but I didn't do the step where you created a quick backup to generate the folder. I was copying the "cleaned" backup to it's original folder and that didn't work. So I pretty much started from scratch, and restored some files from the nandroid.
I'll certainly try your method if it happens again.:fingers-crossed:
Had the Same Issue..
Hi,
I Had the Same Issue, did the whole thing, uninstalling installing, removing TB folder, Removing TB folders from data/data, re-installing again.. didn't help..
The case at my end is that i saw only one app, and at TB main page, at the page headline i saw only that app name, so i tried pressing the search icon at the headline and searched for another app, it was found and the headline change as well to that app name.. so i searched again but this time did a general filter that would probably fit to all of my apps, and it worked ! all of my apps got back to the backup/restore list and to the group batch operation.
Hope this help someone..

I was pulling my hair out - this method was the only one that worked (I tried the others that were suggested). Relieved.
Search worked!
I had the same issue, and the search worked!
I just started a search for any app, once it found it all other apps reappeared at once.
Thanks!

Titanium has nothing to restore??

I just flashed Omega rom and everything is working fine. However, when I downloaded and installed titanium pro to restore all my apps which I had backed up, there's nothing showing up in the form of "apps" that can be restored.
Basically there's nothing to restore..as there are zero apps in the restore section of titanium showing up.
I've looked at my files and the titanium backup file is there on my external sd card with 1GB of data.
I've "unknown apps" and usb debugged checked so other than that, I don't know what else I can do to figure it out.
How come I can't get all my stuff restored?
check your filters.
then check to make sure titanium is looking at the right folder.

What do I have to look for in the filters? Where can I see where titanium is checking for the restore from?
on the top of the list, there's a choice to set filters.
use the menu settings to check where titanium is looking for the restore file......

I know where the filters are, but what am I looking for in them?
Also, in menu settings what do I click in order to see where its looking for restore file?
in the filters, you make sure it is filtered to show everything... what else?
this isn't really rocket science... but settings --> Preferences --> backup folder location.
kinda logical....
Ah thanks, I was looking for "restore" folder location!
I've the paid version of titanium, but I still had to click install for each app when restoring them. I thought this could be done in a batch process?

[Q] Galaxy S III Backup

I am new with this and I have one question.
Is it possible to back up wifi passwords, email accounts and all those stuff, before flashing a custom ROM so I can just restore them after flashing.

Yes. Root your phone and use a backup app like Titanium Backup. Then save the folder somewhere, flash the new custom rom, restore the folder and then everything else you want with the app.

No, just copy the TitaniumBackup folder with all the backups somewhere that won't get lost.
Also, when you restore after installing another rom, DO NOT restore the system data. Only the user stuff. Or at least not all the system data. For example wifi points are ok, but don't restore any system apps.

Backup data to XML....
Than you can choose to back up your WiFi,email and call log.

You can restore user app and data without any problem but if you want to restore system data then always use xml (TitaniumBackup will suggest you for that). If you will not use xml for system data then after restoring data your phone will crash and a lot of services will not work and terminate itself.
and finally you will have to reflash again.

Did you restore apps +data? If so delete all the restored apps and their data and restore only one app without data. Check whether that app is listed as optimized for battery.
Did you reboot after restoration?

[SOLVED] Titanium Backup (v8.2.2) Keeps Refusing to Restore Settings Configuration

SOLVED
Hey guys,
I'm trying to restore my previous Titanium Backup configuration on my Note 8, on which I just clean-installed the latest DevBase ROM. Normally, I just backup the following folder in order to save Titanium Backup's configuration for later restore, then after the ROM is installed, I restore the folder, install Titanium Backup and everything is restored:
sdcard\data\com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup\settings\
However, for some reason, the latest version doesn't seem to be restoring from the backup. Any suggestions on what to do to fix it? Really need this my configurations to quickly restore my Note 8 back to normal. Thanks in advance.
Haha can't believe I'm not the only one. Was already buzzing authors but for now no reply. Up until now that always worked. But now since yesterdays flash it doesn't any more. I've been trying to make it work since then without any success. Is your ROM PIE based?
What's even worse for me, i also tried cleaning everything and fresh install TiBu without any settings. I've made a new label, attached an app or two to that label. Then I selected in preferences I want to sync settings, TiBu created /sdcard/data/com.kermidas.TitaniumBackup with corresponding files. After I uninstall and reinstall TiBu first nice surprise is that it force closes. It will not work until I delete /data/data/com.kermidas.TitaniumBackup, after that program starts but it never restores it's settings from /sdcard/data/com.kermidas.TitaniumBackup
I've tried few PIE roms and never managed to find a working sollution. Thinking of going back to Oreo just to test this out then to scream at TiBu makers if it suddenly decided to crap on us. Oh I've also tried old tibu versions. even cracked ones, since I do posses original bought key for TiBu.

Yeah, experienced EXACTLY the same issues. I figured out a solution to the problem though; on first install of Titanium Backup, DO NOT OPEN IT YET, instead, MANUALLY grant it its app permissions via Settings > Apps > Titanium Backup, place your settings folder in the com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup folder like normal, then launch Titanium Backup. Here's a detailed step by step process:
1. Ensure you still have a proper backup of the Titanium Backup settings folder, then uninstall Titanium Backup AND Titanium Backup Pro Key (if you also purchased it)
2. Install a root file system app (like Total Commander) from the Play Store, launch it, and navigate to and delete the following folders:
/sdcard/data/com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup
+
/data/data/com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup
AND (if you also purchased it)
/data/data/com.keramidas.TitaniumBackupProThis will ensure you start off like it's your first time installing the app, and will avoid any crashes due to whatever conflicts.
3. Restore your backed-up Titanium Backup settings folder to the following directory:
/sdcard/data/com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup
4. Re-install Titanium Backup (and Titanium Backup Pro key, if you purchased it). DO NOT OPEN IT YET!! Otherwise, you'll have to repeat steps 1. to 3. above
5. Navigate to Settings > Apps > Titanium Backup and manually enable its app Permissions (at least Storage, but I'd recommend enabling ALL of them like I did)
6. Vuala, now you can launch Titanium Backup, grant it SU permission, and it'll recognize the backup like it should
Hope that helps
