I think they are definitely worth the money.
Thanks I picked one up yesterday.

If Radioshack doesn't have them in stock best buy will price match them. I had a $20 gift card I forgot about and went into BB at first they were like no we don't sell this then I showed them what it was and found it on the shelf, they did a price match and got it for $20.
Do the lights on the phone stay on while docked?

Thanks for the great find! Hopefully I can pick one up tomorrow in-store. Does anyone know if this is compatible with ANY cases? I use the Honeycomb gel case and it doesn't seem to take up too much space for the regular adapter.
Thanks!

It will NOT work with any case on the phone. It's designed by HTC to fit just the phone. Gel cases are pretty easy to get on and off.

Yes, and so does the display, unless you turn the screen off by hitting the power button. I usually leave my screen and buttons off when it's docked next to my bed (I don't like light when I sleep).
I called and it $15 at my local radio shack.

That's really odd. When you say lights, do you mean the backlight to the buttons? Others have mentioned that too - but my button lights stay off whether in dock mode or otherwise.
I've seen this both running stock - and right now I confirmed it with my evo rooted and running Olympus ROM.
Hello, I've been looking around and I'm trying to find something that will charge my rezound's battery through an external source with out it being plugged into my phone.
So something like this:
http://www.seidioonline.com/product-p/bd3-bcsi3htmec-bk.htm
The reason for this is because I have two standard batteries so I can swap a battery out whenever it dies. The problem with this is that I can't keep one charged at all times.
The seidio one looks good but can anyone find one that is cheaper than $30? I don't really care for brand as long as it works.

The thunderbolt and rezound extended batteries are the same just different colors (I own both phones).
I have the one from Amazon listed above. In the reviews you will see a few people stating their battery did not fit. The charger I received fits the Rezound battery perfectly. I also have two standard batteries and use this at home and in my car to charge both.
Go on vzw website and look for the thurnderbolt standalone charger I have two iof them and they only cost me 4 bucks a pop after discount

Ordered two of these. I got white ones for some reason but who cares, they work. It least it works for my extended battery. Not the fastest however.

ALL the external chargers are slower than hell for some reason.
Does anyone else who bought the seidio multi function battery charger have an issue with it only charging the battery to 85%
Can anyone recommend a decent aftermarket replacement micro usb lead as I borrowed some cheap one off a friend and the device gets really hot and sometimes hardly charges, I know the blackberry and Motorola ones are usually pretty thick as all the cheap ones are soooo thin.
Sent from my HTC EVO 3D X515m
Probably Not the Cable
If the cable thickness wasn't enough to transport power from the charger/port to the phone the wire would get hot, not the phone. The problem lies more in the charger and what is running on the phone, not the cable.
In regards to your concern over your phone getting warm while charging with a small cable that could be due to whats running on the phone while you are charging (could be a runaway app). I have seen similar problems when charging in the car while running GPS with the screen on and streaming music. The problem is that all chargers output the same voltage but not the same amperage. USB Ports on a PC and many chargers only provide 500 mAh and with multiple apps, wireless modems and the screen may be pulling about that much power or more and end up using up all the power coming from the charger. It sounds like you need a charger with a higher amp output.
I have a 2amp charger in my van, but the phone generally get hot in the van anyway....
But when using the standard HTC charger and cable at home, they all get hot, I.e. charger, cable and phone

Why not buy the original cable for your phone on Ebay then?
They are like $3.00 ...
I don't like buying stuff like that from eBay because I had genuine cables off there before and they were rubbish, doubt they were actually genuine.

Any after market cable should work for you.
I never have problems charging my phone with any cable..
I agree with the post above about you running extra apps and that's why it's heating up.
I like OEM BlackBerry cables. They are longer and seem like a thicker guage. Have always worked well for our devices.

I really don't get the big deal over wireless charging. Instead of plugging in a cord you lay it down. Am I missing something?

Not at all, I'm not a big fan either but some people like it.
After about a year my GNexus usb port broke ( using a Philips Docking Station to charge ) so constant wair/tear on usb port can render it useless. I've seen others with similar problems. The wireless option would preserve the port for more important things other than charging.
I tried wireless charging I preferred the extra batteries route

It's just about convenience. I still haven't jumped on board, hasn't been worth the price IMHO, so far. Even with the $20 cover, you still have to get a wireless charging pad.
One other thing to note. Wireless charging is slower and thus preserves not only USB port, but battery longevity! Efficient.

I wonder how long it would take to charge the Note 3 battery. My S4 battery took quite a while to charge. The Note 3 battery is give or take about 1000mAh bigger than the S4
Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk 2
Another consideration is whether cases will still fit since the charging cover is thicker.
Lillie's SM-N900V via Tapatalk now Free
I like wireless charging, since it is pretty convenient... have 3 charging plates at various plates at home/work, using it with S3 right now. Wonder if there is a Qi card option vs. the plate for the Note 3, given that it is pretty thin.

You can mod it to fit but i hear with the wireless backplate, your case won't fit
Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk
I hope it doesn't increase the thickness of the device much, unlike the S4 where it was pretty noticeable. As for charging speculation, I'm wondering if there will be a USB 3.0 specific wireless charger solution or something, if that's even possible. Otherwise I'd imagine it'd take forever for such a high mAh battery to charge up wirelessly to the point where I think it'd be better just to buy the spare battery/battery charger base accessory seeing how good the battery life is.

my nexus 7 takes about 5 hours
If that were the case here then two hours vs. five would be too slow for my tastes. My Note 3 went from 1% to 100% in two hours on the 3.0 charger...
