I rooted my SGS3 yesterday and flashed the siyah-s3-v1.0 kernel and omega 5.0 rom. Since then I am unable whilst browsing to view some sites in full desktop view.
For example, when I go to ebay the mobile sites loads, I scroll to the bottom and click "go to full site" and I get the following.......

Can anyone shed any light and offer a solution? My girlfriends unrooted desire see can access it no problem.
Try a different browser, like chrome..
If that dosent work might be the ROM at fault
Anyone else?

I know what you mean, I had that on some of my previous android phones. It's not an issue, i believe it has something to do with the kernel. Try reflashing it again maybe?
Please don't say you rooted your phone.
Rooting means you enabled the ability to use the superuser (root) account's privileges.
What you actually did was install a completely different Rom even if it is based on Samsung.
Did you factory-reset the phone after installing OmegaRom?

Bordikun got it for me, it was ADBLOCK PLUS blocking certain sites from loading. I forgot why I didn't have it installed until you mentioned it

Was wondering if you guys could help me to find an app to do this? Certain sites like ebay go straight to their mobile version when I try to access it on my phone... I want to be able to go to the full versions of websites ask the time. Is there an app that would block sites from being able to read that I'm on a phone? Thanks

You can change your browser settings to make it look like mozilla or anything you want. Try reading google or anywhere else instead of posting questions with answers everywhere.
@fenixnr. You can't do that on the stock browser anymore. Don't be a troll.
@ O.P. you have to use an alternate browser for that. Try dolphin HD. Then look in the setting and change the user agent to desktop.

If you're running any 2.2 ROM, you can use the stock browser to view non-mobile sites by typing "about:useragent" (without the quotes) into the address bar and selecting "Desktop" from the dialog that comes up.
Aside from that, you will need to use another browser from the Market.
The ucweb has the function you looking for. It is the most popular mobil browser in China. I don't know if there is a English version.
ok thanks guys... i have dolphin hd so i'll try that... i actually like the stock browser better so i may try that method as well, you have been a big help, thanks!
Hi all,
Apologies if this in the incorrect forum group, but it seemed like the most likely place to go for me.
I quite sure this question must have been asked and answered before but unfortunately all attempts at searching forums and google results have not yielded any anything for me: Why can't I download a ZIP via HTTP post through the stock browser?
The problem is mostly described in the following article:
digiblog . de /2011/04/19/android-and-the-download-file-headers/
Basically I am currently working on an ASP.NET application that bundles bunch of files into a zip and pushes it back to the client via the response output stream.
Now this works fine in Firefox and in the ICS 4.0 stock browser, but doesn't work on the clients Galaxy Tab running Honeycomb 3.0. What happens is it appears to download the html of the page instead.
Apart from advising the client to upgrade their devices or use a different browser (like Firefox) are there any workarounds or solutions via POST only that will solve this problem?
Thanks all!
There has to be a way to solve this, seems like a massive oversight on the android teams behalf not to cater for this scenario. Anyone?
Wow no love... am I in the wrong forum? .... or do I have to face the facts that there is no answer to solve this issue?
***SOLVED THANK YOU mohit1234 ***
Hello everyone. I recently recoded the HTML on my two websites. The sites show up perfectly on PC, Macs and iPhones but when I go to the sites on an Android device, all I see is the background colour of the website. The .jpg in the center of both pages is not visible at all.
I'm not sure if it has to do with the pixel size of the images (1024x768 which is pretty standard) as per what WebKit can deal with for smaller screens of mobile devices (although the sites show up on iPhone so maybe this isn't the issue), the positioning of the image (centered), or have I missed the boat on extra code I need to add regularly to sites nowadays since surfing the net on phones has become more of a regular thing?
As a new member of XDA, I am not allowed to post links in my questions yet. Please respond and I will link you to the sites if you even need me to.

I just saw the source code of the websites, and both seem to be just a plain image. However the code doesn't look well coded There are some issues. (not sure if those are because of your html files or the "view page source" option in Chrome).
Firstly there is no need for CSS as u have only one image. Just center align the image. Put the image within the body tag. And put the bgcolor in the body tag.
If you need help, PM me the html files and I'll fix it for you

Won't be a problem with flash. The website doesn't have any flash. Plus if it did, it wudnt work on the iPhone
For some reason a background image doesn't want to show at all. I tried css code from W3Schools similar to what you had and also tried the old school HTML background and neither wanted to work in Dolphin.

I have already tried cleaning up the HTML and uploading new files to the site but I just end up re-uploading that old file, which I agree is not coded very well, because when I upload a cleaner HTML file I see a question mark in a blue box where the .jpg should be when I go the websites. At least with the old file uploaded I just see the background colour and not a blue box with a question mark in it. Which adds to the mystery even more. I was doing exactly what you suggested yesterday before anyone had even replied here.

I also tried using W3Schools yesterday and they were coming up with the same simplified code that I mentioned above which ended up giving me a blue box with a question mark in it as opposed to just the background colour as I am seeing it now with my old files uploaded.
And now, to add to the confusion, I downloaded Opera Mobile and the websites look fine in that browser. So they look normal in Opera Mobile, but not in the stock browser or Dolphin HD. This is very strange. Could it have to do with the size of the image being loaded? I know Opera applies compression so this is all I can think of.

The box with the question mark is usually due to the image being missing or if the link to the image is wrong or its unable to access the image. The size of the images won't matter. I've viewed much larger images with no issues on the stock browser. I tried it on Miren Browser, but that didn't work either.
One thing you could do is, instead of using another host for images, why don't you keep the images with the html files and change the image URL to the name of jpg. Not sure if that would work, but you can give it a shot.

You can't exactly close the thread, only MODs/Admins can do that.
But just edit the first post and add the word "SOLVED" to the end of the title.
And if you want, you can add the solution in the first post.

If I understand your situation correctly, you:
Installed AdFree
Used AdFree to apply the custom hosts list
Had problems with playing videos from one (or more) web sites
Removed AdFree
Continue to have the same problems with playing videos
If this is roughly the sequence of events, then you should not need to un-install AdFree.
In fact, uninstalling AdFree probably left your hosts file in its modified state (with ad-related sites still blocked).
Instead, you can click on the Revert button in AdFree. This will return your hosts file to its original condition. This also ought to restore joy to whatever web sites are finding AdFree disagreeable.
This should allow you do run ad-free most of the time (click Download & Install Hosts), and disable ads just long enough to view the videos you wish (click Revert).
Hi all. I see this thread has been quite for quite some time. I am hoping someone can help. I have been a user of AdFree for a while. I noticed that one website I frequent is impacted in that I can no longer see the comments section of that particular website. I added the domain in question to the "white list" but that hasn't helped. Can anyone who understands this sort of thing help? I love the functionality it provides, but not being able to comment on my favorite site is an issue. Anyone? Thanks!!
@ShermCraig The workaround I use in these rare cases is to open AdFree, and tap the "Revert" button. Then I can do all the usual stuff on the offending web site (or app). After I'm done, I once again open AdFree and tap "Download & Install Hosts" to regain ad-protection.
Yes, it's ugly, but it is actually pretty quick, but I did promise only a workaround, not a solution.
Question: What do you mean when you say "added the domain in question to the 'white list'"? I don't see that AdFree supports any kind of whitelisting.

Maybe this is a stupid question and I apologize in advance.
But maybe someone can direct me in the right direction.
I want to register an account with my weshare (car-sharing) app.
They authenticate via email which includes a link to the URL "umi-weshare://authorize?blabaasdas" which my browser opens (lineage 18.1 with google-apps).
Of course this fails due to "unknown url scheme" etc.
How does a stock Android handle this link? Turn it over to the right app? But how?
And if so, does a stock Android capture _every_ link I klick on?
How does this work? (normally)

Hmh, this is really strange.
The support says it works on iphone and "normal" Android. (The whole Volkswagen login thing is based on this. So I really believe it works "normally") But I am also sure it does not work on _my_ lineage.... As expected my browser (any browser) opens with an error...
And this is as it should work, I think. But how does it work on all the other phones
(the support also says it _only_ works on smartphones. So there is something happening I don't understand. Something like the OS scanning the URL and passing it to the right app.)

the link doesn't work "as it is" according to the weshare-support.
It magically only works on the phone.... ( it is supposed to work there, the support tells me. )
Ahhh, after one week chatting with the support this diskussion with you gave the right hint!
As you confirmed that the OS does not interfere I had the idea that therefore somehow the browser might pass the token back to the OS somehow..... (I am not a developer)
So I installed chrome on the smartphone and "alas" it works!!!
(chrome on the PC gives xda-open... error which is a hint as well.)
So I _have_ to use Chrome :-(
I already came across the next "bug". The street I live in exists twice in this city but the app only lets me choose the first "hit". So my postal number will be wrong! WTF....
As far as I know, this specially formatted URL like "umi-weshare://authorize?blabaasdas" is called an app link or a deep link.
There are many similar deep links.
For example, some URLs as below:
market://details?id=xadave.SmartUnitConverterFree_Google
amzn://apps/android?asin=B00Q3V4VNC
......
If you enter the second deep link above in the address bar of your mobile browser, it will open up the Amazon Appstore app on your mobile device and directly link to the detail page for a specific app which is available on the Amazon Appstore.
And the first app link will open up the Google Play Store app on your Android devices and directly link to some app in the Play Store.
So, I think your app link, "umi-weshare://authorize?blabaasdas", will link into your weshare app, too.
Android App Links are a special type of deep link that allow your website URLs to immediately open the corresponding content in your Android app (without requiring the user to select the app).
