[Q] Battery life & ICS Roms - HTC EVO 3D

I have been using MeanROM ICS 2.3 and have been loving it. However, for the first time in over a year of magnificent stock battery life, I am seeing it slip away faster than I have before.
My question to the general audience would be... which ICS Rom do you believe sacrifices the least amount of juice/gives the most battery life?

I haven't done any real tests but i'm running swagged out stock and i'm pretty happy with it. I've also tried inbreded rom and that was pretty good as well

Good Roms for the Thunderbolt?

I just bought the Thunderbolt a few days ago and have it rooted. I want to know what roms are good. I am looking for a combination of battery life and performance. If I can have it themed also, that would be even better. But battery life and performance are my 2 main concerns
Perfect storm.
But remember GB roms are being built as we speak.
I know how it goes. I just want something with high potential that wont be abandoned. Better battery in the meantime would be very helpful
Perfect storm 1.4 is heavily tweakable, stable and fast.

[Q] Gingerbread Battery Life Vs Froyo

I am wondering what kind of battery life people are getting with the Gingerbread leak and subsequent Gingebread ROMs compared to their froyo companions. For example, people who have switched from Das Bamf froyo to Das Bamf gingerbread, etc...
I am running Das Bamg 1.6.3 and leankernel 2.5 with extreme custom undervoltage and I am getting absolutely fantastic battery life, and I'm not sure about making the switch to GB because of it. Will GB improve battery life even further? Thanks guys.
IMO froyo kernels are further in development and will probably get better life but I love the sense 3.0 like gb roms so I'm sticking with em

Personally my battery has been horrible, pretty much back to how it was when I first got this phone, although I'm on 4g most of the day and overclocked to 1.4 so I really can't complain. I've seen a lot of people saying they haven't noticed any difference in battery life though. Its definitely worth loading, working netflix, lock screen is awesome. I'm sure the devs are working non-stop, thanks guys!

GB battery life is definitely lower for me, by a decent amount. Still sticking with it though.

My battery life has suffered since moving to GB. I've considered going back to BAMF Remix 1.6.3, but I had random reboots and shutdowns with that rom. There are always drawbacks, you just have to decide what is and isn't important.
I actually disabled push email on my work account. I set it to manual. I'm at a time of the year where I don't need push email. That has helped the battery, but it's still not as good as Froyo.
So my decision came between barely getting through a day on a single charge or having my phone crap out on me a couple of times a day? I decided to stick with the poor battery life.
I'm on battsaver mode with lean kernel for GB...imo is still tweaking the kernel with battery drain and charging issues...not as good as froyo yet but good enough for my daily ROM
I stuck with using perfect storm 1.4 with imosyen extreme that has by far given me the best battery life. Most days I am over 10 hours with normal use. On gingeritis I was getting around 7. Still not bad but the functionality on Perfect Storm 1.4 is far better than on das bamf or gingeritis.

Is that on 3g or 4g?
I was on GB for 5 days. i could def tell a loss in battery life on it. But it wasnt enough to make me change back. i was loving GB. I am now going back because of the radio scare.

I am on 4g most the time... also read the thread about gb brickiing phones....for sure stay with froyo
My battery life was definitely not what it was on froyo BAMF 1.6.3.. I've since flashed back from 2.0, because of the bootlooping/brick shenanigans.. I miss my Sense 3.0 elements, but I really don't wanna go through the hassle of going to VZW for a replacement phone lol

[Q] ICS Battery Life tips ?

Hey I was wondering what peoples battery life looks like on the different ics roms? I've tried Joel Z's latest cm9 and aosp and my battery will be nearly dead (15%) by mid afternoon, compared to 60-70 % on my viper Rom( latest version, stock kernel) with comparable usage, if not more on my viperRom . I really think I would use ics as my daily rom if the battery life was better.
I'm wondering what kind of battery life yo!u all are getting and if you have found a setup that can get even comparable life to some of the sense roms??? I've looked around on s!ome of the different posts and haven't found anything lately about battery on these roms.
FWIW I've tried deleting the Bluetooth file that supposedly caused problems but it hasn't helped ( I think this was fixed anyways?) .
Thanks!
Some people may hate on me for saying this, but try underclocking. I eventually returned to ViperRom, but while I was on ICS I underclocked to 800Mhz. Since AOSP is so light and bloat free, it still ran very smoothly. This helped with battery somewhat, but it seems that battery isn't really ICS roms' strong point (they are alpha, after all). Hope that helps a bit.

I agree alpha stages still have a lot of work not ment for a daily use build. More of a test .

Which kernel give you the best battery life

Hi
I am pretty much obsessed with battery life.
I have been trying few roms and I have yet to find the perfect one for me.
1) gingerbread 2.3.6 stock rom unroot
Performance wise is so so. Battery life, not what I expected
2) gingerbread 2.3.6 rooted
Tweak the CPU and does see a lot of improvement in battery life.
3) ICS stunner. 19
Great rom but I feel that the battery does drain a lot.
4) ICS cyanofree
Smoother compared to stunner but battery wise is worse than stunner
5) Gingerbread 2.3.6 rooted
Back to gb to see if there's any difference in terms of battery life. Better than the Ics
I do have a lot of my friends who are using the custom ics and their battery life is superb. I don't know why mine is bad.
6) stunner 19
Back to stunner again. Still feel the battery doesn't last. Heart pain when you have to under utilize the phone just to save the juices.
7) litening rom 1.0 (currently using )
awesome even thought that its not as smooth compare to the ics. Battery wise improved a lot but I am still searching for even better one.
Question.
Anyone using speedmod or Franco kernel before and could you share your experience especially the battery life?
By the way. The testing are based on my observation. It may differ from other people.
Appreciate it very much.

WIll GB give me better Battery life then ICS?

i see both OS's giving kinda same results. what have you all found? GB with custom kernal? or ICS roms?
THanks all
I can tell you this:
Over the weekend, I swapped from the setup in my sig which is GB to Innefilbis ICS v1.0. I installed exactly the same apps as the original setup & made all the exact same ROM tweaks.
I love the ICS setup but my battery life is A LOT worse now than it was with the old setup.
what kind of screen on time were you getting on GB compared to ICS?

After I s-off'd I flashed the 3.14 RUU and then flashed CleanRom 4.5. I previously ran CleanRom 4.4 with the GB firmware. I'd say my battery life is worse with my current set-up. I've been using Better Battery Stats and Battery Monitor Widget to get a handle on the battery drain. What is annoying to me (meaning I can't figure it out) is that when the phone is "sleeping" my drain in mA bounces all over the place. Previously, I could look at the history in BAttery Monitor Widget and see a pretty straight and flat line <10mA . Now I get 20-400+, for no apparent reason. I've tried both the 3.13 leak kernel and the 3.14 kernel. IF anything the 3.13 may slightly better. I might just reflash the RUU and run it for a while and see how it behaves. We need the OTA to come out with the kernel code ASAP
I went from stock gingerbread to Scotts Clean ROM to Newt's sense 4.0 and each time my battery life improved. I'm on the latest leak RUU.

Interesting...i've reflashed kernels several times but I haven't gone and wiped and reflashed the ROM yet. I'm trying to avoid setting up all my homescreens again.
Did you change your firmware (flashed the leaked RUU) or are you using the GB patch?
I went from stock, unrooted GB to the latest leak. I disabled the bloatware because ICS is cool like that, and my screen off battery drain was way lower. However, if the screen is on and I'm using 4G this beast just kills the battery. The operating system can't help the battery thirsty hardware.

I've never noticed a difference. 80% of your battery is consumed by the screen, so the only place the OS is going to make a major difference is in how aggressively it controls your screen brightness. Unless there's something really wrong with one or another version of the OS. In theory ICS should offer better battery life by being optimized for dual cores, but the savings is probably not much.
Battery life has always seemed the same for me on GB or ICS. Stock had the worst battery life for sure though.
The really battery hog for me is Sense itself. On ICS or GB I'd be getting anywhere between 8 and 10 hours of battery life on one charge. I tried so many Sense ROMs it made my head hurt. As a last ditch effort, I flashed CleanROM Tapped (sorry if I butchered the name) which is a mostly Senseless ROM with AOSP apps replacing the Sense ones and I'm doing much better.
If you're willing to sacrifice Sense I'd honestly go with a Senseless ROM. That's what I'm having the most luck with.
GB gave me the best battery life on GB firmware. i'm back on a sense 4 rom with latest leak firmware, though, because i think it has better 4g reception in my area....and my battery suffers. my life is about cut in half when i run an ICS rom as opposed to GB, even on GB firmware.
i'd have stuck to GB but the develpment for GB roms sucks since all devs jumped ship to ICS, which IMO kind of sucks, since the battery life is so bad. whatever, i have an extended batt coming my way! lol
I've noticed my dads rezound drains battery significantly faster than my nexus. I think a lot of it is sense. Also the snapdragon s3 is more power hungry than the omap 4460 which is one of the best in power usage. He's now on cleanrom gb edition. I installed juice defender today to see if that helps. Well see what happens. I hope he can get something close to what I get as my battery on my nexus has been great (over 4 hours screen on time). Much better than my incredible.
