[Q] Extweaks settings reset after dual-boot & HUGE battery drain after reboot - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone,
Ive been trying to work out how EXtweaks settings work on the SiyahKernel (3.3.2)...
If I set all the extweaks settings how I like, then reboot and go into my second rom and reboot and go back to my original rom my extweaks settings have been reset. Anybody why this happens and if there is a way around it?
Also is there a way to keep the settings the same across the first and second rom?
Or is there a way to save your settings so you can flash them or reinstall easily?
Another question while im here Is there ANYTHING I can do to prevent the HUGE battery drain after rebooting my device... Nearly everytime, especially if the phone has frozen, the phone will lose lots of battery after reboot.
Thanks

Reset fuel gauge chip in extweaks
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium

oh yeah...
"Reset fuel gauge chip in extweaks"
Will that solve all the problems or just the battery drain?
I have tried that a few times now actually big improvement...

looks like we have the same ###**@$% problem but no one knows wat to do, after wat u said battery dies and when i charge itfor a minute or 2 it gets to 68% but dies after a while, and extweaks resets....im probably going to change to cm9 and then use battery calibration in market to calibrate battery
best lucks for you!

[Q] Battery life awful - can you help please

Hello everyone, this is my first post here so go easy on me
The battery on my optimus one doesn't see the day out, is there a ROM that can help, I noticed someone posted that their battery lasted 3 days.
I've managed to root my phone and installed recovery, just need pointing in the right ROM/kernel direction.
Many thanks in advance
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=510200&d=1296962775
flash this kernel
switch off wifi, bluetooth, gps, data by dragging notification bar and tapping on the ocons.
reduce display brightness from settings>display>brightness (select lwest, atleast thts wat i use
flash void kernel, and install gapps, tapps , a2sd and blink modules.
when the rom is fully installed and running use setcpu to manage cpu 122/600.
turn off wifi, bluetooth, gps.
now your device life is about 30 hrs
The quickest fix would be to switch of 3G(2G only mode), WiFi when not in use, GPS, bluetooth, data enabled off, etc. These can be done with the Power Control widget or from the drag down notification bar. Big effect even without flashing a custom rom
Depending on your usage mate.
But yeah pretty much what everyone else said . Indoor I keep my brightness lvl almost 0. The screen ain't that shabby and it does a pretty good job even outdoors at a bit above half brightness.
I always keep my network on 2g mode OFF and I don't let my phone use data connection unless I want to use 3G network.
Also get an app for clearing memory a bit . I use android assistant which is pretty much an all in one . Great app I'd say , monitors CPU usage and has quick boost for lazy clearing up memory , manual clearing up memory and ofc you can ignore some app processes like for ex. setCPU
As a sidenote , if you have most of the time above 260-270 memory free your phone should hold in average usage for at least 2 days.
I for example on one charge's worth with the above settings , can watch 2 hours of video , at least one hour of browsing , some video games and reading books .
Going slightly off topic, how do I get into recovery mode?
When I installed it I got there, did a nand back up and the rebooted.
Now when I hit Vol down/Power/Home it just starts up as normal?
I'm not very good at this stuff clearly, ha ha
I have trouble getting into the recovery too sometimes, since I can't hold the three buttons that long. Here's how I get to the recovery: Go to your terminal and type "reboot recovery". That should reboot and take you to it.

Done all that thanks.
Just another off topic question - in the ROM posts the instructions usually say something about moving the zip file to the SD card from your PC via USB.
Why wouldn't I download the zipfile straight onto the phone (like I did with your kernel) and install it that way?

Sorry I know I shoudn't be asking so many questions in so many posts but can you confirm what was contained in your kernel please?

[Q] Battary Life Issue...Need Help

My X10a used to give a day worth of battery life when I was on Android 1.6 after upgrading to 2.1.A.0.435 it almost got doubles 2 days. A week back I installed black theme using xRecovery and JIT (I didn't take backup before installing it ).
Now the battery is good for 10 -12 hours only. I checked the battery usage, it is show 60% cell stand by and 20% display, my usage doesn't change at all.
Can any tell me solution without doing the repair will greatly appreciated
Thanks
Try going into xRecovery menu and do " wipe battery stats ". Could be you've turned up the brightness, and your display is eating battery?
Maybe you already do this, but these next ones improve battery life in general. Not that it would explain your change... Use the app APNdroid to disable data when you aren't using it. It has a no/off toggle widget for the homescreen that works great. Set WIFI to "off when screen off" along with APNdroid, and use Advanced Task Killer app set to aggressive, medium security, and "auto kill when a screen off". Set all system apps and any apps that you always want running to "ignore" auto kill.
There is argument that task killers actually do more harm than good or kills battery, but that is if you didn't set it up right. At least on 2.1. New versions of Android don't need task killers. If you don't like task killers, skip that. It's better to have no task killers at all than to have one that's set up wrong. Never set task killer on a timer, like every 30 minutes.
When I did all these things I still have 30%+ the next day if I forget to charge it at night with HEAVY use. Before I didn't always make it through the day. Hope this helps.
Thanks for your answer.
I tried wiping battery and then what I found is my phone is using much more power standy mode. The application have not changed and I already use advance task killer in aggressive mode
can JIT increase power consumption in standy by mode?
Don't know if this will help, but try using a fresh download of JIT custom zip. Then going into xRecovery/advanced options and wipe Dalvik Cache and then reinstall JIT. Also, try disabling task killer if you are still having problems.
i've had my x10 for 9 months and last month i noticed a change in my battery life even when i haven't made any significant changes to my normal usage (and settings). my old x1's battery lasted about 11-12 months... and i'm a moderate to heavy user. so it could just be your battery beginning see it's way out.
agentJBM:
I tried reinstalling after wiping Dalvik Cache but this didn't work, I'm stilling seeing drop in battery a percent a minute then phone on otherwise cell standby using the battery.
I guess I need to start from repairing again and installing JIT. Only thing I can think is that JIT is for global ROM but I had Canadian Rogers ROM
if that didn't work then I'll follow azian_advanced advise and order a new battery
While you're at it, see if you have the same problem before you enable JIT after repair software. That will give you an idea if it's the battery.
Also, try the procedure in the thread titled "[Guide] X10 Battery Calibration" found in the general section. I'd provide a link, but I am on my kick ass X10a.
Repair made big difference, I installed all my apps but haven't configured by emails yet but drop of 5% in whole night versus 90% drop earlier. I haven't installed JIT yet and i thinking leaving it alone for now
its crazy how jit seems to effect each phone so differently

[Q] Time and Battery Status issue. Several Roms

Hey there,
Using: galaxy s2
Rom: Resurrection Remix 2.4 on ICS (4.0.4)
(Though it happened on few other ROMs)
Issue 1:
Often, the time on my status bar will stop updating, and will be stuck.
Going to ROM options, removing it from the status bar and putting it back in will update it once but generally it will still be stuck at that time.
Rebooting the phone (usually) fixes this.
Is there anything I can do to prevent it? It seems the phone's clock is ****ed and not specifically the status bar's clock as clock applications also do that sometimes (Getting stuck)
Issue 2:
If my phone is stuck, after reboot it will generally start with battery percentage 22%, regardless if the battery is full or empty.
Rebooting the phone fixes the issue, but otherwise it takes sometimes hours until the percentage is back to its real state.
Any fix in mind?
Thanks!
same issue on foxhound!

battry not showing correct stats
hi you could try this
1. switch phone off
2. put on charge till 100%
3. unplug charger wait a min and put charger back on for another ten mins or so, so it is deffinately fully charged. (it might say 100% but sometimes may not be from my reading around)
4. unplug charger and switch phone on into recovery mode, scroll around and find wipe battery stats. click and run it.
5. run phone untill battery is completely empty then fully charge again (not using phone ie switched off)
dont worry about readings.they will settle down after a few or so of step 5 only ie dont repeat wiping batter stats after youve done it once.
if that fails you could try new battery and repeat steps if prob persists.
also are you undervolting cpu gpu ifso it may just be getting used to the new settings not 100% sure though someone with a higher knowledge may know more on undervolt isues
as for your date and time are you using get time from interweb etc try unticking them i think and are your timezone correct.
hope this helps

For the time problem. Go to settings date and time and untick automatic date and time and set the correct time.
For the battery. If you're running SiyahKernel you can try to reset the fuel chip in extweaks. If you're not just let it settle and it will calibrate itself eventually.
Hope this helps you

Battery problems

Hi folks, I've been doing a bit of scouting and haven't been able to find a solution as of yet so hoping somebody here can help me. I upgraded to ICS a couple of days ago from 2.3 and since then my battery has been going a bit odd.
My phone wouldn't come out of sleep and i kept having to do battery pulls to bring it back to life. I figured this was probably to do with my SetCPU setting being too low (200-500MHz for screen off) so i disabled the profiles and it still was happening. Have deleted SetCPU altogether and it has improved a tad bit. But now my phone does occasionally go into sleep mode and won't wake until i do a battery pull. But when i bring it back to life my battery is 15-30% lower than from before I did the pull.
I'm running 4.0.3
Sensation Rom 3.5
Siyah Kernal v3.3.2
PDA version XWLPG
Baseband DXLP9
I've attached two screenshots to show properly what I mean. Scrolling through ExTweaks shows me that siyah kernel itself also can change clock speed but there's too many options there for me to know safely what I'm doing. I've done battery recalibration twice with no luck so far.
Thanks in advance for any help!
flash stock rom and root and reflash sensation rom by doing a full wipe
do a full wipe, and reflash the rom.
Then see if you still have problems.
Then install your apps again, if you then ahve problems, you know your apps are causing it
You can also install betterbatterystats (free on xda), that app will tell you which app is causing wakelocks

Screen Off Requires Power Button To Turn On Issue?

Hi guys,
Trying to work out if my phone is faulty or not.
When I turn the screen off, sometimes when I press the middle button to turn the screen back on, it won't turn on. The only way to turn it back on again is if I hold the power button for about 5-6 seconds to restart the phone again.
Does anyone know why? Or any solutions to this?
Happens twice on average a day, it's annoying having to restart the phone!
I think your getting SOD (sleep of death).
try using dorimanX kernel on default settings then see what happens.
Sent from my Galaxy SII
I will try it and see.
If it doesn't fix it, does it mean it's the phone?
Have you overclocked, underclocked, overvolted, undervolted, flashed anything in a bad order, flashed anything at all, changed GPU speeds, turned BLN on? If you answered yes to any of them I suggest you do a reset, reformat, flash a Samsung stock ROM, don't play with any apps that change the default CPU/GPU etc settings and see what happens before you buy a new phone.

The only thing I did was flash Resurrection Remix ROM. Everything else that's there I haven't touched.
I'll format to stock and see if it does it.
