Evdo rev b? - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

No different from MANY people on here. Usually I can get around .8-1.4 here in SW Fla. and consider myself to be one of the very lucky ones.

its NOT RevB....sorry, you wont ever see RevB with Sprint as they have chosen to go the other route with LTE and feel RevB will be a waste of time/effort/resources to implement with LTE rollout underway and that very likely taking a TON of strain off the 3G backbone...

Here are FL Rev A speeds with about 3 bars, this is with the "Proxy" mod.

LTE in Mulvane, Ks

I just experienced 4g while driving through the tiny town of Mulvane, KS. It's a town of about 15000 right south of Wichita, a city of about 500000 and Wichita doesn't have it yet...lol. must be a test tower in Mulvane. Anyways here's the three speedtests I ran with 4/5 bars.
Sent from my EVO 4G LTE using xda app-developers app
A little slow, but acceptable.
If the town is that small, it means there is a little hope for my town to one day see LTE. Supposedly we are part of the second roll out phase in the Nashville market - but I'll believe it when I see it.
Yeah I'll believe it when I see it too. When I first got my Epic 4g they told me I'd see 4g in my area within 3-4 months, 2 years later... I see nothing. I'd be happy with just the better 3g speeds.

The tower in Mulvane has had 4G on air for awhile now. They must have started to unblock LTE.

It's basically Wichita. That's why they got the tower. But nothin here on the far west side of town.

Every Sprint tower, regardless of location, will be upgraded with Network Vision to include enhanced 3G and 4G LTE.
The 4g ends right at derby when heading north. It felt close to wifi and now i miss it. Hurry up and flip the switch. I hear they have a tower going near hillside and k96 too... Should be soon you'd think. Then again there was a wimax tower downtown for a bit but Wichita never really got it.

not getting LTE, why? ROM?

I haven't seen LTE or 4G on my phone once. This is really odd because I live blocks from the KC sprint campus. I have even driven into their parking lot and sitting there got only 3G still.
I know this has to be on my end because there's no way that in their own campus in their main center they don't have a tower running it since this was the first location to receive LTE. Is this something that could be dependent on the ROM i'm using. I'm running viper 1.21 which others have said they get LTE with so I don't think it's that.
Do I need to possibly flash a new radio? Is there something else going on?
Yeah, ur not in an LTE area. Either that or Idk find someone with an EVO and see if they get LTE in the same spot.

I haven't tried toggling to CDMA and then back to LTE, I'll give that a go.
I know for sure I'm in an LTE area because KC is the first and I live directly next to their huge campus here. I have a few friends who work for them, actually everyone in this town has worked for them at one point or another, lol. And they said we do have it in this area now.

correct. I always say KC because anyone outside of this area doesn't know OP. I live a just a couple blocks from that campus. I thought this was the first area scheduled for the roll out. At least I know why I haven't seen it yet. thank you.

i gave it a go and no LTE yet, so I think erichj must be right and the rollout is not complete.
Strange that they wouldn't start with their own campus. But I guess I was just spoiled by t-mobiles insanely fast network speeds before switch to sprint. Kinda a bad decision on my part but I thought I wanted an Iphone, until I had it a couple days and took back that turd to get another android phone. By that point I was stuck in to a sprint contract with dial-up speed.
LTE is spotty even in the city

The network isn't done. Even in cities where LTE is live.

I was on the Sprint campus tonight and had to reboot my phone to get it to pick up 4g. Sometimes that's the only thing that will work . Network is only about 40% build out around the KC market right now.
Have you updated your radio and prl?

It definitely is spotty. I was able to get LTE in the legends but it would randomly switch to 3G even if I was in the same spot.

Iive up north of the river by the airport and I only saw the 4g icon once while eating a chicken fried steak at corner cafe in Riverside. I only had it long enough to download speedtest.net app and it reported 8M download and 8M upload. Pretty good but then it switched to 3g again
Hopefully it gets better soon!

Some hope with Sprint's network vision

I just wanted to share some good news with the Sprint users here. Sprint recently launched LTE in the Chicago area and for a while I haven't seen any major improvements near me (south of Chi-town). For those in this area, I did a speed test in Lockport earlier tonight and pulled down 2-3Mbps. Normally, I might get 100-200 Kbps. I know many people have been suffering with far less than that, but wanted to let people know it's getting better!

LOL! That's nice, but how does this affect me, Al Franken?
I can't even find my state in the dropdown list for upcoming Sprint LTE deployments!
No doubt Sprint is concentrating on the population centers that they think will bring in the most revenue, just like my next upgrade will depend on which carrier can supply competitive 4G coverage in my area.

I live in NYC and I still have shi**y reception. I think about switching carriers every time I drop a call or receive a text hours late. The unlimited data is the only thing keeping me from switching.

No our phones use 802.11e instead of the LTE protocols while some say a update could allow us to use it no one has really backed it up.
While 802.11e was the first revision of wimax and the next would have been better than LTE but to many others adopted LTE. YOu will need your upgrade to get a LTE device.
My upgrade is on the first of jan so I will be getting a nexus LTE device but won't see LTE here for a few years.
Seriously. Why would I use any newer phone if I have to drop back to 3G? I've been lucky and had unlimited WiMax since original EVO. Getting my girl a used Sensation off Craigslist and going to hook her up with Straight Talk. If the speeds are good maybe I'll go that route for a while. GSM Nexus off contract is probably the way I'll go next time.

no complaining Ram when you are blanketed by a nice 4G WIMAX coverage. I had better 4G on my trip to Maui then I do in my home area in Orange County CA where we have 1 street with WIMAX and that drops as soon as you walk into a building!

My speeds are pretty much not even LTE. In fact I was getting just as good speeds with my non-LTE Atrix 4g. From my bedroom I get about 1mbps and the upload...well if it registers at all I get 300kbps. Admittedly I get terrible terrible reception here even on my old phone. At my grandmas house where I get 3-4 bars I got up to 8mbps per second on one or two tests but often it was around 3mbps. The upload there never got above 600-700kbps. I live in Orange County, CA so maybe there are so many users that that's just as fast as we get...or maybe it's this phone. I dunno yet. Gonna try it at work(Disneyland) tomorrow and see how it works.
I attached a txt file with my tests...on most of them it says HSDPA, dunno what that even means.
Sounds like you do not have LTE in your area yet. The signal icon on your status bar will say 4G LTE if you have it.

But we do have LTE, it says on the coverage tracker that we do and my dad has the HTC One X and he gets LTE. Now that you mention it though it says 4G at the bar at the top of the screen and not LTE. Is it supposed to say LTE?
Yes it does say it right under the 4G. Go back and look at some of the screen shots. If you are both on At&t you should go to the store because you should have it also.

I don't know the AT&T network but on Rogers, Bell & Telus in Canada you need to specify an LTE APN. The HSPA/+ APN you have configured by default with your SIM probably won't support or recognize LTE service speeds, and even my 'LTE network' microSIM didn't import this automatically, I had to manually input the APN.
33/1.9 I wonder what's up with my upload speed.
Here is my test from Little Rock AR

4g lte appears in Tacoma wa?!

Turned on my EVO lte a few minutes ago after it dying today and I saw the 4g logo. My first reaction? Run a speed test. The results were... Unsatisfactory to say the least. After about 10 minutes of use I was booted back to 3g, but not before getting some screen caps!
Has anyone else had this happen in the Tacoma area? I know it is listed nowhere on the sprint coverage maps or lte locations so maybe this area is currently in testing and i managed to grab the signal somehow? Either way, exciting news for sprint customers in the SeaTac area!

Just noticed 4G lit up (for the first time ever) for me on my Evo 4G LTE while driving on 509 down by the Port of Tacoma. Speed was about 5.5 down and 1 up.
