Ususally this happens when you installed that app earlier and did not uninstall it properly. the actual culprit is the App data which remained and is not getting wiped off and the installer is unable to remove or copy on that file. Hence the error message.
Hope this helps
search /data/app for any odex files, usually deleting them will allow you to install it again.
Yes,like 2 friends above mention. I ever have this problem before after install some app and uninstall it but some file still hide in hidden folder and I want to install that app again(new version) the phone tell me that it has insufficient mem. This is my solution. Install root explorer(you need rooted phone) go to sd/data/app and find the file "xxx.xxxx.odex" and delete it(xxxx stand for the name of that app name). After that I can install that app again with no problem.
If you used LP, as said before, some odex may have been left behind. Running
LP again will clean those files...

I have been having this problem for quite sometime now. I have a Galaxy S Plus running on Android Gingerbread. Whenever I`m trying to download any apps I always get this error:
Update for "App Name"/ could not be downloaded due to an error. (905)
I have googled this problem and found out that I should just clear the cache of Google Play and the data of the Download Manager. I did this and it worked for a while however the problem keeps on coming back. I am already tired of repeating the steps over and over again. Now it`s gone worse, I cannot download anything. The same error keeps on coming up even if I already cleared the cache and data.
I believe I have sufficient space on my phone (phone, USB storage and SD card). Please help me out with my problem! THANK YOU.
its something about your /datadata being low on space.

Uninstall the updates
It seems the error occurs due to the misconfiguration of app settings. You can uninstall the updates, and reboot the phone and your problem will be solved. Source: http://technogiga.com/how-to-solve-error-905-in-android/
just uninstall the google play store update and play services updates :good:
I got the Insufficient Storage Available error when I install new apps from Google Play, I can't even install apk, so I think this is not Google Play problem. I have plenty of space life. Running the latest AOKP. Anyone having this problem?
I'm guessing this didn't work?
Try this.
It also happens when you have the app still in the data/apps folder yet it's already uninstalled. Go to your data/apps folder with Root Explorer and check if the .apk is still there. If it is, delete it.

Thanks for your advice, I used mini tool partition from my computer, but when I checked in my phone's storage, still wasn't shown the ext4 partition that i did with minitool, so just tried with cwm partition (1GB Ext and 0MP swap) and it worked! But before I try this one I downloaded link2sd from play store! That's it! Now my internal memory is 0.94GB, wow...before it was only 120MP!

The app didn't work. It runs ok, but has no effect in solving this issue... at least on my case: Galaxy S2 running Cyanogen 9 final release. I also had this issue from time to time with the RC1 of CM9, but it always disappeared without me doing nothing (the problem only happened back then when updating apps from Google Play).

This tip solved the problem. Thanks very much.
Meanwhile, just my 50 cents, I think this problem is related with the Lucky Patcher... Maybe I'm wrong, or maybe not..,
I have enough space left in extsdcard and also in internal sd...But to my bad luck some apps are being installed but some apps like power toggle and root explorer etc my phone shows out of space error while installing...Thing is that some times 10 MB app is being installed without any error but some apps being in KBs showing out of space error...This is really astonishing...Yes I unstalled play store update, cleared data and also didn't find any .odex file (in system/app and data/app) of particular app showing issue...And my phone is rooted...Searched everywhere but everyone is telling to delete .odex file of that particular app...But such file of required app doesn't exist there...
Plz help me out...Plz...

Hi Everyone,
I'm having trouble manually installing apk files from a file explorer. Whenever I try to, it says I have insufficient memory. But I have over 10gb of available memory. This happened after tinkering with Lucky Patcher and then eventually uninstalling it. Im afraid i might have changed something whithin Lucky Patcher and now I cant reinstall it because of the installation problem. My s6 edge is Pingpong rooted and also has OTG helper if this helps. dont know if it messes up with drive mounting.
Installing from google play is no problem at all.
Thanks for anyones suggestions

Have you try this?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=40411252&postcount=5
Thank you for reply! Yes I did everything there. Thing is im not allowed to install any app for it shows insufficient memory for every app i try to install. But i think lucky patcher messed it up. But also lucky patcher might be able to fix it. Is there a way for me to manually install lucky patcher so I can bypass the installer menu?
Like extract its files to a specied folder?
I tried installing through adb with this command, adb install -r app.apk
but it still says I have insufficient memory even in adb.
Also, I noticed that Titanium Backup is not recognizing all of my apps. Just a few system apps.
Return to stock...
Yey! I was able to fix it with Rom toolbox! Switched installation path to internal.

So the problem is that you can't install applock, am I correct?
Did you check if the app is compatible with your phone? Did you download the apk from a reliable source? Did you tick install from unknown sources?
IMO, the problem is not space issue, but rather a compatibility issue with the app apk file and your phone.
regards, gsstudios
Yes it is compatible
And the apk is installed from Google play store
and I installed the app from this apk before
And yes I tick install from unknown sources

If you've installed it before, then the issue could be some sort of corruption (either from interupted deletion or freezing). Was there any folders created by the app? Try deleting the app's folders manually using a file manager, then try installing again. If all fails, a factory reset could fix the problem if this is the case. Just be careful if you are on stock 4.0.x because it contains superbrick kernel, meaning that you could potentially ruin your device. Just make sure to backup.

Thank you @gsstudios
I deleted the folder created by app
And moved the apk to the internal memory
And it installed successfully
Thank you gsstudios another time
